I'll say thing about the Metro MTA... from the isolated serenity of the South Bay Beach Cities, it starts out as a public transit utopia. The parking (especially from Redondo Beach) is easy, safe and FREE. It's so convenient. The station and the route feels friendly, safe and clean. As the train progresses towards THE BLUE LINE it gets increasingly more urban with lower socio-economic demographics however. You don't see many non-ethnic people on the MTA... a.k.a. The Minority Transportation Association. If you're taking the Green Line to then transfer to the Blue Line, as many people do to go to Downtown or extend to the Red Line, just be careful. Plan ahead, know where you need to transfer and where you need to get off and get on (as well as what direction you're going, so you don't jump on the wrong train going the opposite direction). Don't wait for the train at the edge of the platform. In addition to all of the dust that's kicked up, all it takes is one crazy person to push you down into the tracks and you're done. The Blue Line takes you on a tour of LA's not so great neighborhoods, and the passengers can be quirky, sketchy and odd at times where you might feel uncomfortable. Just keep to yourself, don't look like a victim and only travel during daylight hours and you'll be safe. Traveling with a companion or group is always good. Don't sit next to the doors if you fear getting your possessions snatched. Don't play your your tablet or phone where someone may feel motivated to strong arm your possessions away from you. Don't wear fancy jewelry or watches. The Green Line so much better than the Blue and the Red, but know that if you're going to have to transfer, be prepared for the worst in comparison. This line goes to LAX (Los Angeles Airport). I've not gotten off there yet to try it out to see if there's a shuttle or connection or if it's walking distance to one of LAX's terminals or not. I think that's the biggest advantage of the Green Line other than being a way to connect the South Bay to the rest of LA. read more

Where the hell does this line even go? It goes from Norwalk to Redondo Beach station (more like Inglewood). It's a rail to nowhere. Seriously, they were suppose to connect to LAX and you could see they completely stopped right on Aviation station. Half ass. Ok, LA is the second largest city in the country but we don't even have connecting rail to the airport. What the hell is that all about? The green line only connects to the Blue Line at Rosa Parks station and that's about it. There not much venues through out these station. What the hell were they even thinking. read more

First of all I paid for two cards one I paid with Exact change and for the second card I paid with a $5.00 and got .75 cents back so got rob two dollars so we get in the metro c green line between 9:19 pm 9:30pm Apr 4 2022 it was fine until one White female and a black male started to smoke cracker in front of my daughter and a cigarette packed with crack and everyone ride in the green line c at this time just turned there back like they did not see it if I wasn't with my daughter I would of end up in jail because I would of Throw them out of the metro and so when we get off so we don't have to deal with the smoke because they were hot boxing the metro I would of recorded them but my phone was dead and we started to walk through the gets doors and I see gets doors are open and all this up to no good people where going in and out through and one or two pe had one of the machines open with the alarm going off loud like there was not going on so I asked my self why did I paid if I didn't feel safe and was people smoking in the metro and no one to ask for help and I don't think the people working there don't feel safe we need to fix this problem read more

The Green Line is lovely. It's very lovely. It does its job and doesn't complain or ask to borrow money or clock out early or--even worse--ask its coworkers to clock out for it so that it can leave work early to meet with its girlfriend before her husband gets home. No, the Green Line is an upstanding Metro citizen, if a little bit boring. Should be four stars all the way, but the planners were (and probably still are) crooks, so instead of having an LAX stop, it does a crazy southward curve, and then you either have to brave the free shuttle to the airport or take a taxi or pay for a shuttle, but you'd be feeding the beast because the reason it makes that southward curve is the taxi and shuttle companies paid off the planners to ensure that the Green Line wouldn't provide easy access to LAX. I hate LAX and hate to focus on it, but if the Green Line served only one purpose, that purpose would be to get people to LAX. It does that, sort of, but it's a convoluted, complicated, and inconvenient process. OK, I'm breathing really slowly and deliberately now, so I'll get back to the good stuff. Norwalk to Redondo Beach, and vice versa. It doesn't seem like a useful route, at least full length, but it is. I know because my brother-in-law has used it many times. read more

LA's mass transit system is really behind in terms of consistency, cleanliness, quality, and organization. Consistency - The bus system is actually more consistent than railways, for MTA (orange buses), they usually arrive at 30 min after scheduled on the mta website. Railway is usually 7 min intervals but can range anywhere from 2 minutes to 15 minutes intervals. Cleanliness - I actually prefer standing and holding onto the rails then risk my clothes getting soiled. The MTA can't fool me with it's dark colored upholstery. I can see/smell those urine/stool/spit/sperm stains. Quality - This goes for both the construction and people who ride. No secure way to check for paid patrons, they only have random checks and even with police checking, people still get away by giving fake addresses and names. The city needs to put in place a more secure system of getting on the platform, that way will increase the quality. Organization - Where's the line to get on the bus/subway? I can understand since L.A. doesn't have enough riders to put this in place, so until L.A. becomes more reliant on mass transit, then we can worry about the organization. Only 2 stars because you're saving me $10 in gas a day. When gas reaches $3 a gallon again, it's WORTH spending the extra in gas and waiting in traffic over waiting at the stops and smelling the urine. read more

I would have given this a one star, but the people on this train are nice and considerate even when it's insanely crowded. As for the comments on here about where this line even goes, it goes to businesses and busy enough so that the line doesn't even allow bikes on it when cars are full, so if you take the Green line to work, keep your bike at home. So why is this line always crowded going to Redondo Beach? 1)For every 2 trains going to Norwalk, there's just 1 train going to Redondo Beach 2)stops are random "whenever we feel like it", don't look at a schedule. 3)Never thought I'd be so happy to get on the Blue line after being in a small packed rail car. They want to open up some seats to allow for bikes....bad idea. What they might want to do is increase # of trains, and add more cars at least during the work day. On a good note, less people defecating in their pants on the Green and Gold lines. read more

I used the train for work for years and issues were tolerable, and I found it to be efficient but I have seen ride quality and safety deteriorate. My job went to WFH for awhile, but when I went back to riding the train, I was shocked. My stop used to be clean and relatively safe but now is a hangout for transients and is often strewn with litter, and the stairway smells terrible. Sadly, the same can be said of riding the train itself. In a brief period, I was stalked, harassed and screamed at. Teens regularly smoked marijuana while riding, and I would have to change cars. Law enforcement is seldom seen. To top it all off, I got a completely unfair parking ticket at another location which Metro is refusing to dismiss over a technicality even though I PROVED I paid the fee. Metro has no respect or appreciation for its PAYING riders. The value is not worth the lack of safety or the humiliation. I no longer use Metro. read more

As a theater fan I was eager to try metro rail. I went to see Young Frankenstein at the Pantageous. Green line to the Blue line to the Red line ... stops right outside the Pantageous. Seemed perfect. Metro likes to tout how convenient they are for attending theater venues downtown like the Pantageous. What they dont tell you is rail stops running after 11pm. What time do people typically get out of those venues? 11pm. That little detail left me stranded in Watts at midnight. So if you're planning to do anything similar downtown at night - you can count out Metro Rail. Aside from that it was clean, cheap, fun, and easy to use. For a daytime commute this line may suit your needs. For nighttime entertainment be cautious and consider what happened to me. read more

The only real problem is that there are not enough runs. BUT thanks to the Green Line I can take the train all the way from Norwalk to Downtown. All I have to do is drive a really short distance from Downey to Norwalk and park in their relatively immense lot. Yes, it can be less than clean and there are many let's say - unsavory- characters here but this line serves my purposes well enough! read more

From Monday thru Friday, I ride this train from the Crenshaw Station to the Blue Line transfer point at Imperial Hwy Station. I can't really complain about the consistency or speed of that part of the route (10 minutes tops). But one day, on a whim, I rode this line from end to end. Going eastbound, it ends in Norwalk at a transit station. I was expecting it to end in Cerritos or preferably at a transfer point for another train. So then I hopped on to travel the entire westbound route. I don't understand why there are so many stops between LAX and the end of this route. Is it really necessary to have stops at LAX, Nash, Douglas and Redondo Beach (which is really Marine Ave. next to Costco and Lawndale High). I should think this line would make more sense to extend the route to the beach or loop into West L.A. to alleviate some of that rush hour traffic! read more

I used to take the green line (2 years) to work every day until I decided to just move closer to work. If you're stuck debating whether if you should drive from Norwalk to El Segundo/Redondo on the 105fwy, I say take the greenline instead. It is much more relaxing to be able to close your eyes on the train and listen to tones while everyone else is stuck in traffic. The ride from Norwalk to El Segundo station takes approx. 30mins. Each stop is 30 secs. The line is fairly clean and fairly safe. I did get pepper sprayed once due to a fight on the train. I also sat next to a crazy person cursing out loud for no good reason. One other time my face was up in a construction workers armpit while he is holding the rails above me during a crowded ride, it sucked. There are beggers on the train, don't be fooled, some are fakes. There was a guy comes on board and tells a different story each time holding a picture of a little girl, first saying she got hit by a car, next week she was diagnose with cancer. Overall it isn't so bad, there are patrols on and off the train checking if you have a ticket. Just think of it as an adventure everytime you go to work. The real problem is the parking at Norwalk station. If you do not get to the station by 7:45AM, you will not find parking. You may get lucky at times, but other people are driving around looking for that one last extra space. I have seen some people parked across the street where McDonalds is outside of the station, heard it has been pretty safe too, but not sure if it's legal. read more

I've only taken the green line from the blue line to LAX. But I did that many, many times over the course of a 6 years......I never really got screwed by the green line.. however, my roommate waited for over 2 hours to get picked up to go to LAX. He called and said there's dozens of people, all waitin. Then he called again and said he was still waiting. Just waitin. And then he called again and said he missed his flight. Efficiency is decreasing. Trains are having delays and technical problem almost daily. This Green Line Metro already performed really bad starting the first working day of 2015. Major delays caused all passengers for each train to be held hostage for almost an hour on each train. There was no communication regarding the nature of delays from management or even an apology. The cost of delaying to the passengers was tremendous in term of emotional distress and monetary. Horrible exprerience starts to creep in for riding this Metro-Green Line. read more

Worst transportation service I have experienced. Its never on time and the transit app is never accurate with its arrival time. Impossible to catch with the times given. Will be standing at the bus stop for 30+ minutes. Find another way to travel own your own sake. read more

We often miss public transportation if we are car drivers on a regular basis. My car broke down recently, and I needed to get up to speed on how to get around. This line connects with the blue line, and you can easily get to Long Beach Harbor, and Sevilla on Pine, which has one of the most amazing brunches in the South Bay, or you can take the bus into the harbor and visit Parkers Light House, which I would recommend as well. If you take the Blue Line North, you can get to Olde Town Passadena which is a nice treat as well. One other thing that many do not know, is that you can pick up the Beach Cities Transit from here, which has stops from El Segundo to the Riviera Village and back. Pretty nice, for getting to the beach. You can hook you bike on the front as well. This is the transfer station for catching a bus into LAX, as well, so this little known metro/bus station is one to try out. Why not ditch the car for a change, leave less of a carbon footprint, and pretend like you are on vacation? I found it refreshing, and interesting, and did not mind the extra time, as I got to play silly games and read along the way. read more
