Metro Market Mequon, Wisconsin is a great well organized supermarket. I was impressed as we drove in and parked at the care and cleanliness of this location. Well groomed and inviting from the outside parking lot to the entrance of the store. I'm from out of town so this was a new experience. Impressed with the quality and displays on the inside of the store. We were there to pick up a balloon bouquet and small toys for a birthday party. The staff was very friendly and helpful at finding what we needed. The checkout line moved quickly. Self-checkout is available. I'm sure check-outline efficiency depends upon the time of day and the day of the week. I love the number of fresh prepared meals available here. They are always fresh and tasty. read more

Usually I am quite content with the selection here. Sometimes produce isn't the best quality or carrots are completely out of stock, but I tend to be able to pick up most of my shopping list here. I absolutely love their kosher bakery items from Illinois. I am a bit sour that I had to make two trips because the chicken broth I purchased expired two months ago... then, a few days later they still have expired stock on sale. I don't live on that side of town, but I had an appointment. So I decided to go shopping at Mequon Metro market.. from the moment I walked in I knew there was a big difference from any other metro Market that I shop in on my side of town. The employees were friendly, smiling talkative.. The store was fully stocked all my sale items were there.. there were demos in each department. And the employees were very helpful. If I had a question, they went out of their way to help me.. I shop on my side of town and the stores there are just the opposite. Many weeks I have to run to two stores to get the ad items.. not here all the shelves were full. All the ad items were fully stocked, and the place was so friendly and upbeat.. I'd shop there all the time if I lived on that side of town. If my Metro markets in Pic 'n saves on my side of town were half as good as this one you haven't made.. read more

We have shopped many food stores across the eastern and Southern United States.The Metro Mart in Mequon is among the nicest we have shopped in. Everyone we have come in contact with at the store is very friendly and helpful. The bakery, deli, and meat market are very well stocked, and the food is always fresh and the highest quality. I used the Metro Market on-line shopping service today and I was blown away by their service. I had been using the Shopping Cart app but let me tell you, this is a much better experience! I got rid of Shopping Cart because I was having trouble getting good produce. I would always have to go back to the store and return the produce after having entered very specific and detailed notes about what I wanted. I truly could not have put more information in the notes so I was getting very frustrated and thought it was Metro Market. Then I realized that the app has its own employees independent of the store. I canceled my subscription and ordered directly from the store! OMG! What a difference!!!! They actually read my notes and took the time get what I wanted. The service manager even came out to my car to make sure she explained the level of care they took to read the notes and try to get exactly what I wanted. She could tell that I was particular and wanted to get it right. I was so amazed by that and extremely impressed. I am used to this level of care inside THIS store. The staff inside almost always conducts themselves this way when you shop here in person. I always feel like royalty in this store. They have, what I like to call, "ambassadors" instead of managers. Their managers actually make eye contact and talk to you like you matter and your business means something to them. I used this store to cater a birthday party on March 11, 2020. Yes, that's the day the pandemic was announced in the United States. For me and my friends, the day was memorable because of the great food the deli served us NOT because of the pandemic announcement. We will forever be grateful because it was the last time we were able to physically get together face-to-face. We all remember that food as EPIC and life affirming -- even to this day. I love this store! I don't know how you do it but you truly are ambassadors for good business practices! Don't stop doing it the way you do it! It matters to this community! It matters to people like me -- people who cannot always get out and do their own shopping and must rely on others to help them because of physical disabilities! Whoever did my shopping, did a phenomenal job! Please let them know, I am exceptionally happy. I normally really like this store. The employees are normally more friendly than the Pick N Save version and the store is more kept up as well. However, my last visit back on 3/17/20 was not great. I realize that things are very different now because we are in the Age of Coronavirus, and my rating has nothing to do with the barren shelves because that was something you are seeing pretty much everywhere these days. My rating had to do with the very poor service at the Self Checkout. Unlike many other chains, Kroger requires all coupons to be handled by the cashier, even their own store coupons, which is idiotic. The woman that "helped" me apparently felt the same way as she came up to me, snatched the coupons, scanned them, and left, all without saying a word to me. I would expect this at Pick N Save, not Metro Market. read more

If you are from out of state, you are expected to know that alcohol cannot be purchased at a grocery store after 9pm. Even if you are in line and there is only one cashier and the person in front of you has a $100 order and can't find credit card and he holds you up, you are unable to make the purchase. They are short staffed on a Saturday night and I put away all the groceries I was going to purchase because they are unable to post any signs in the beer/wine/liquor department indicating such policy. Is it too much to post a sign or make an announcement on a Wknd evening? read more

This PHARMACY is the worst. Yestetday went in to oick up three Rx's. The PHARMACY tech said it would be 15 to 20 minutes. I said I would shop and come back. Twenty minute later the tech tells me it's going to be another 15 to 20 minutes. After watching the pharmacist walking back in fourth talking on his cell phone .laughing just having the bear time while pretending to work tells me they don't have one of the drugs I need. AFTER ALMOST AN HOUR OF WAITING, now they realized they don't have it!! Terrible customer service. Don't go here ! Find another pharmacy. Zero stars !!!!! read more

The Metro Market on Port Washington Rd has an over sized tall white in the butcher's department, who has the nerve to walk my items to the service desk for my purchase of $88 and I'm pissed! Who does that when shopping??? I've never been so humiliated because he acted like I was going to steal my ordered items. First of all, I'm a senior black with a physical disability that's obvious and I've never been asked to do more while spending my money until Oct, 1st 2021 when this action took place and I'm not over it!!! read more

I love this metro market. I really do. My concern is with the front end staff. Mary is phenomenal as is the gentleman always working produce. I was there last night at about 6:30. Two full-service lanes were open with no one in line. One cashier was chatting with the bagger. The other was on her phone and the bagger standing there. I felt as if I interrupted the woman on her phone by checking out. The $1.00 each item for buying 5 or more wasn't on my receipt. The cashier told me to go to customer service. I asked if it was open as there was no light and nobody behind the counter. She pointed to a group of 4 employees off to the corner talking. I asked for customer service and one came forward while the others continued to talk. She credited me $5.00 for 5 of the 6 items I had purchased for an additional $1 off. I wasn't going to argue about the last $1. I'm guessing it's that hard to get help that 8 people can be on their phones or chatting instead of cleaning, or stocking. It's sad. read more

For reasons not worth going into, we usually see movies at the Marcus googleplex in Mequon. So we had occasionally wondered if this market near the theater has the same kind of grocerant and beer bar at the Metro Market near our home in Shorewood. After seeing Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom -- okay, maybe our taste is suspect after all -- we finally decided to check out the Mequon Metro Market for a quick dinner. The short answer is no, they don't have the same kind of grocerant and beer bar as our Metro Market in Shorewood. Although it seems like a nice enough supermarket otherwise. Not finding anything we wanted to eat, we drove over to Poco Loco Cantina in Brown Deer to check out another eatery that's been on our list to try. And that was our second disaster of the day ... the first being Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Haha. read more

Living in New York for 6 years can make you really appreciate the gargantuan super markets in the Midwest and the rest of the country. I walked in this place and was overcome with glee, followed by a raging case agoraphobia upon entering into the produce section, which alone, is larger than most of the grocery stores Brooklyn. The variety here is great, one cannot have access to enough fresh fruit and vegetables. But browsing the colorful bins, with happy rainforest jingles and cool mists spraying from hidden nozzles, it's all too easy to get lost in the gimmickry of the place. Beyond the produce, is a vast monument to Wisconsin obesity -- a food court with requisite TV, usually playing sports. The smell of fatty, fried foods, huge pizzas, breads, and flatulence fill the air. There are amazing displays of cakes, tarts, pies, cookies and all kinds of white sugar, bleached flour, hydrogenated oily confections in case you want to fast track yourself to diabetes and heart failure. The deli carries a brand of meats and cheeses by the seemingly respectable company called Dietz Watson. They raise their anti-biotic and hormone free turkeys, for example, in "Virginia's pristine Shenandoah Valley" where they "live in spacious surroundings," and are fed "pure feed fortified with vitamins, minerals and pure country fresh water." I think I'll eat them. There are other commendable brands to be found, but in this bloated, comically huge, annoying place, you have to spend way too long looking.... and getting dizzy, and pissed off. The fresh seafood is often mislabeled, the rainbow trout wasn't really from WI, and one cod filet was positively rancid. Beware, ask and make the butchers there pay attention to you, like you're a real human being looking to consume actual, fresh, seafood. This place, like all modern grocers in this country (outside of some key exceptions) inundates you with the illusion of great variety. Instead of curating a more manageable, wisely chosen selection of goods (which is the good grocer's job) there are simply endless bad choices with a few good ones sprinkled around -- and the bloated, pretentious prices even beat out New York's. The main difference is that the check out person won't know what tomatillos are here. read more

Kinda feels like a slick marketing ploy at work to detract the Sendik's fans (me included). Close down the nice Pick N' Save between Sendik's and the newly built Metro Market and relocate all the Roundy's inventory to the new store. Add a bunch of prepared food stations. Have the employees all wear black ties and white shirts. Blamo. Metro Market. Yep..Metro Market is still a Pick N Save (you can still use your Roundy's reward card)...but with a little more pretension. A pianist playing a baby grand piano next to the green beans for 99 cents a pound? Strange...yes...but strangely amusing. Check it out before the gimmicks are fazed out. Aside from the prepared food stations, the inventory in my opinion isn't that much different from the old Pick N Save. And that is OK. Compared to Sendik's, you will probably save more on the "staple" grocery items and the frozen stuff (which they have a ton of)...but for the speciality gourmet stuff, I do prefer Sendik's. For example, the deli at Sendik's carries Boar's Head deli meat...the Metro Market does not. I think that Metro is going to pose a challenge to Sendik's for a little while at least. I mean, nobody is going to want to hit two grocery stores in the same trip. If you are going to do your major grocery shopping, you will likely hit the Metro Market first. read more

Sendik's is overpriced. The Pick n' Save at Green Tree makes my skin crawl. Traveling to Cedarburg or Grafton to grocery shop is too far. Metro Market is the perfect middle. The produce and lunch meat doesn't rot in 2 days (I'm looking at you Pick) and the quality is nearly identical for 60-75% the cost of Sendik's. Let people snark away about the uniforms or ambiance; the staff is always polite, clean, and friendly. The cheese lady knows her stuff and stuffs samples in your mouth. The meat counter guy flirts with my girlfriend and give her choice cuts. There are always free booze and wine samples. The cashier initially forgot to give my my Monopoly Tickets during a recent promotion and doubled the number I should have gotten as an apology before I was through the line. Metro Market is the best grocery shopping option in North Milwaukee / South Ozaukee. read more

Metromarket is a solid grocery store. It's a perfect balance of well-priced produce, but also quality produce. They do a good job in that department. I love stopping in there and getting some of their hand rolled sushi. The Tokyo Roll is my personal favorite, but they do a great job mixing in the different types of fish to suit different tastes. The hot bar.... not so hot. I avoid it at all costs and go straight to the sushi. Hidden Gem: Gelato Milk Shakes. They had a sample of these once, and it lblew my mind. One of the most flavorful things I've ever tried in my life. I think I had the Mint Oreo Cookie MilkShake. Try it sometime!!! read more

This is a great addition to the North Shore area after going to the one downtown for years. The meat department is the best - I love all of the flavored burgers and sausages they change up daily. They also have a huge area where you can get about 10 different types of potato salad, pasta salad, bean salad, etc. They have a huge walk in fridge where you can build you own 6 pack sampler and have a good beer selection including some large 22oz bombers. The produce section is huge in space and what it offers including a whole organic section. Just past the produce section is the bulk items including dried beans, coffee, trail mix, etc. that is absolutely huge. The rest is just your standard grocery store where you can find pretty much whatever you want without paying the bump up in the price that a nearby grocery store seems to charge. read more

Love, love, love the availability of Kosher goods at this store! The bakery also has excellent selection of Kosher and non-Kosher items as well including fresh bread in a number of different varieties. I also love the cheese selections, and the store often has tasting available of the cheeses and accompaniments to the cheese. There is an olive bar as well...how often do you see that in a grocery store? And a whole cooler is dedicated to hummus. Really? there is a healthy selection of wine and beer too, both domestic and imported. I have even been served a Horny Goat beer sample (4 oz) while shopping. There is a fantastic produce section as well with a huge organic produce section. There has yet been a produce item that I have been looking for that I could not find at Metro Market. This grocery store is by far the best I have visited. They are not the cheapest grocery store, but with regard to selection and variation of product, Metro Market is in a class all by themselves. read more

I am from out of town. When I pulled up at 10:00 pm it looked like the store was closed, but when someone else walk in I assumed they were open so I went in as well. There were about 6 employees standing around doing nothing when I walked in. I went to the liquor section, looked for an employee then went to the self check because that was all that was open. When I did scan my one item, one employee practically ran over to grab the item out of my hand and say that they didn't sell past 9. I quickly apologized and told her I was from out of town. She continued to be rude and rush me out of the door like I was doing something wrong when her and the rest of the employees just stood around when I came in instead of just doing their job in the first place and greet customers ask them what they were looking for and let them know right away that they were no longer selling right away instead of letting them go to the section, get to the register, and then run over and make them fell like a criminal for trying to buy one bottle of wine at 10:00. read more

It's sometimes unclear why Sendik's has ruled as the best grocery store in the Milwaukee area. From oft-inflated prices to their penchant for stocking high-end products that can daunt the casual cook, many people can be intimidated into bypassing the store and heading straight for the Sentry or Pick n Save parking lot. Cost prohibitiveness is a major issue, and I get that. However, the reasons why Sendik's is on top are never more apparent than when you visit Metro Market's new location in Mequon. Walking the aisles of this gigantic and scary warehouse-turned-grocery store, I felt like I was in a living example of the famous snark-blog "Stuff White People Like." The first thing I was greeted with as I walked in was a REAL LIVE PIANO MAN! Classy touch, there Mr. Roundy (or whoever you are). You know what's not classy though? Consciously putting a piano man in your store to make your store feel like it's upper-echelon. I see what you did there. The tempered concrete floor also tells me, as a consumer, that I'm in a warehouse like Sam's Club, so I must be saving money. I also see what you did there, tricky tricky. I guess I can't hate them for bombarding me with fresh produce just inside the door, too, cuz everyone does that these days, right? Get those visual queues all fired up for buying! As far as quality of products go, I think that's also on shaky ground. I bought some romaine which looked very nice and fresh in the store, but when I got it home, the inner layers were so yellow and sour that it felt like they just chopped the plant down hours earlier. There's ripe and then there's NOT EVEN CLOSE TO READY YET, YO! Ugh, annoying. Also annoying was their meat selection. I love filet mignon, but if your only option is a $25/lb prime steer tenderloin, I ain't buyin. My final gripe, as with all Roundy's reincarnations, is the liquor prices. Their beer and wine prices and selection are on course for the area, but they're tottally out-of-line though when it comes to liquor. I called Otto's in Bayside and Sendik's before I went to MM to prove exactly what I've known for years. $38 for a handle of Jack at both the formers, $42 at MM. They gotta get that in check, people are catching on. Anyway, there's actually a lot to like about Metro Markets in general. Their deli and bakery items are phenomenal, and you can tell they push that portion of their business, and I'd happily eat the prepared stuff any day over Sendik's. For all that store does well, their prepared foods just can't compare. Price points are a major issue for shoppers, and you can certainly find some deals at MM, but all things being equal, there's a chance you could get gouged on any given item, just like at any competitor. Their variety of products ranging from specialty to the basics is also a major plus, but again, it makes the store giant and unwelcoming. Take it or leave it, I'm obviously not this store's biggest cheerleader, but it's still a decent grocery if you're a keen shopper. read more

This grocery store seems to have everything well out together and organized. Their prices might be a little higher than normal but the quality of the food usually outweighs that. What put my trip here above anywhere else was as I was checking out the bagger, who must have been a manager, saw that the cut corn I purchased was dried out, and took the time to go find me a fresh one. After not being successful on finding a better one, he gave me the Metro Mart fresh corn instead. I respect the fact that he took the time to see my corn was dried and wouldn't taste great, then proceeded to fix it! Great service. read more

Definitely not the worst grocery store in the area but I've had my disappointments. Generally I'm disappointed in the staff. There are a few exceptions, but there have been many times my items have been bagged poorly (leaking thing of meat in with my fruit, hot bar items dumped on their side leaking all over) or items left unbagged (like 1 or 2 items out of 20) so I don't know that they're missing until I get home. I know several people who have had the same issue! The produce selection is small but good quality. The deli offers some good classics and a few great dishes that aren't so typical. The bakery is, by far, my favorite part of the store. Their bakers are efficient and very helpful. The prices are incredibly reasonable. I don't go anywhere else now for baked goods! read more

I like grocery shopping. It's because I like cooking. And grocery shopping to me is like dropping all those little Tetris blocks into a cohesive wall that rewards you for perfectly placing components together. So when I find a grocery store I like, I practically squeal with delight and silently thank Tetris and the Jet Stream and any other entity I can think of. Metro Market, you make my heart sing. First, Metro Market has a nice large parking lot that is laid out well. You make everything groovy. Next I would like to discuss produce. There are many factors when buying produce 1) Layout of produce section 2) Variety of produce 3) Longevity of Produce. If you score an "F" on any one of those three I dislike. Metro Market delivers on all three. Easily shoppable produce area, tons of variety - I'm lurving on you baby beets, and the fact that none of my produce has rotted since Sunday? Metro Market I think I love you. But I want to know for sure. So let's move onto Bakery. Cinnamon fills the air and you have real, kosher, traditional bagels. Wonderful species of bread little know to the midwest and those dainty irresitibly cute Madeline cakes. Come on hold me tight. The meat department, long expansive showcase with gorgeous cuts of meat. I bonded with the meat counter guy over our mutual love, respect and adoration of the product known as THICK CUT BACON. You move me. But all of that, pales in comparison to the sublime heaven like area known as the cheese section. So many cheeses on display my head spun like that fricken exorcist kid but in a good way and with no puke. The boyfriend and I are slowing working our way through eating every cheese known to man. We are getting fat. Anyhoo. I was pulled by an invisible force to gaze at the Elysian Fields o' Cheese. (Sidenote, If I opened a cheese specialty shop that's totally what I would name it.) I found a dry Monterey Jack Cheese I had been wanting to try for a while and expressed said happiness by exclaiming "Honey, they totally have that fricken cheese I've been wanting to try". I have a voice that carries, and the cheese counter lady inquired as to which cheese I found. I told her and she asked if I'd like to try it there and then pulled out a brick. In a trancelike state I meandered over to her, lips smacking and uttered, "yes". She said I'll fix you up good and proceeded to pull out Raisen almond biscotti and fig preserves and made the most perfect morsel of food. Then she hooked up the boyfriend. Then she introduced us to a small production cheese from this little tiny farm in Wisconsin whose name currently escapes me because all I could focus on was the chunks of cheese she kept plying us with. All told we walked away happy with 3 bricks of cheese. (Sigh) Other samples we enjoyed: Wine and crab salad. Everyone on the staff were so geniunely friendly it was refreshing. This is a pretty standard grocery store. The deli / seating area is usually pretty clean. I like the layout of the store and the staff are friendly and helpful. Not to much to complain about, except occasionally having to "hunt" for a basket to carry my groceries in when I enter the store. I always seem to miss the free samples. When the weather is warmer, the store puts out the grill and slings brats and hot dogs. It worth trying if you happen to be in the area for lunch. read more

We found it all depends WHICH Metro U shop. The one in Mequon has always been a favorite with clean conditions (as far as we can tell), very friendly helpful people, great selection, especially the produce and deli. For various reasons we shopped the one in Brookfield. What a filthy, nasty place. No one was behind the deli to help us. When we self checked, we didn't have a number or code for the product. 3X my husband asked the "help" for help; she was way too busy talking to another employee. The restrooms were so dirty. How can one Metro be so above this excuse for a Metro??? read more

Well the meat does look great until ya see the old guy moving it around with his bare hands. Yum. When I voiced a concern to a manager, he stated ohh dat guy, we have talked to him before about doing daat. Buts heh its a union place, watta ya gonna do right. Hey lets call it Metro Mart that way Pic N Saves bad rep wont follow us, Ya people are stupid der heh. The store is clean but I wonder about lack of clean of the food handling. I cant buy the meat after that one. Its a union so they cant enforce a guy to wear gloves?? Whaat. This is Pic N Save and their bad customer service cant be saved with a new name. I like shopping at the Metro Market, quality at its best, but, I observed something that made my skin crawl. On Wednesday, April 26th, at about 12 noon, I stopped for a salad lunch. I sat in the dining area to eat and observed the following: The gentleman who mans the sample cheese booth wears gloves to handle the sample cheese pieces. Boy I thought to myself, he is really protecting the cheese samples by wearing gloves but soon I wanted to gag. He left the booth and returned carrying a cardboard box which I assume he got from a back room. His gloves were still on. He then reached into his right pocket of his pants and got out his pocket knife, still with his gloves on. He then took the knife and opened the cardboard box and then put his right hand back into his pocket to place his knife back into his pocket. He then began to place other samples on the cheese tray still wearing the same gloves he used to open the cardboard box. He then proceeded to make a Panini for a customer using the same contaminated gloves. I soon lost my desire to finish eating. One question I have; if this unsanitary condition goes on in public which I see, what goes on behind the scenes that I don't see? read more

I visited the Metro Market in Mequon, Wisconsin on July 14, 2020 around 2pm. I am a regular customer and usually have had no problems with the store or associates. This visit I had Clair checking me out and she was fine until it came time to process my donuts. Usually the customer is asked how many is in the bag. Clair decides to open the bag up! To my surprise and I asked her why would she do this? She said store policy. I said that is not correct. I have purchased donuts many times and no one checking me out have ever open my bag up they have only asked how many in the bag. I then stated during this time of Covid, with your mask on and your hands touching dirty money why would you decide to open my bag. She then gets quiet. After all of this I get home to see she overcharged me for my purchase of the donuts. She charged me for my donuts and then charged me for a dozen donuts! I was able to speak with the manger of the store Jason and he has assured me that I will receive a refund of the overcharge. In addition, he stated that he would be speaking to Clair in regards to her statement that it is their store policy to open customer's bags of donuts to get the count. I hope Clair will be fair to all customers and not just some customers she interacts with. This is the feeling I got from her. I will continue to shop at Metro Market. I will not let Clair stop me, but she does need training on how to interact with all customers. read more

After a recent buyout by Kroger, things have gone downhill. The gluten -free selection has decreased significantly and the gluten free items that they *do* have are difficult to find. Stocking in the meat section is horrible -- I stopped in a couple of weeks ago to find them out of literally every brand of ground turkey! In a health-conscious environment, ground turkey is a staple and the manager's puzzled response was... "We must have messed up our order." On a positive note, I purchased some roses from their floral department last week and they are healthy and beautiful, though the prices for floral have increased with the new store ownership. read more

I like the store, the employees, the selection and especially the salad bar. Got a chuck roast so cooked it like one and it was awful. It needed to be cooked like the garbage meat it was (low and slow) in order to taste good and be edible, also too much liquid came off of it-it was injected. So I give Metro Mart 5 stars and their Meat Department 0 stars. I think I'll go to a butcher shop for meat from now on. read more

For a local "buy most of my groceries" here type of store it fits the bill well. It is a clean bright store, happy and helpful employees, good selection of products, easy parking lot and Store manager Mary appears to always be out in the store helping and talking with customers. Finally gave up shopping here because I am unable to consistently find the products on my list and/or products listed in their flyer. Shopping on a Friday morning is deplorable. They are always stocking in the freezer section, but fresh meat section is always empty. Bakery and produce employees are unfriendly...act like they would rather be somewhere else. When I complained about the lack of stock, I was told that "we have no control over product delivery...call ahead to find out if your product is in"!! Really?? Forget it. I'm shopping at a competitor whose shelves and meat dept are fully stocked no matter the time of day. AND, I am willing to pay more. read more

Since this store was purchased by Kroger's, it's gone straight downhill. They stock half the soups & now it's just the same soups with no variety. They don't refill the soup when it runs out. It's the same with the hot bar. No more Friday fish fry dinner special. The foods on the hot bar are either left out way too long or not refilled when empty. I've been at the store at 6:15 (hot bar ends at 7) & the staff has refused to refill empty sections. They have a chef's special dinner at the front of the store & rarely actually have the meal advertised because "someone didn't order the ingredients for the special." The produce quality is terrible compared to a couple years ago. The deli is half the size and the meat and cheese selection shrinks every time I go there. It's not worth the time and aggravation. Go to Sendik's down the street. They are correctly doing all the things that Metro Market is failing at. read more
