Went here because of all the great reviews on Yelp. I needed to get 2 wheel bearings changed. I was quoted one price over the phone and another when I arrived which was $150 more. They said it was a 4 hour job. I watched 2 YouTube tutorials in real time of the work for each side taking 35 and 45 mins. I was ok with 3 hours which is still a stretch but not 4. Secondly I asked about replacing my steering shaft. It's a common issue with Lexus and Toyota. The part cost $230 from the dealer and I watched over 7 YouTube videos on how it is replaced. The work takes under 20 mins. They quoted me $780 so I kindly pick up my car and took it somewhere else. I truly believe because they see nice cars and the nice neighborhood they price you accordingly. No Thanks I'll go elsewhere. read more

I had bad luck in the midst of all the high reviews for this business. Went in with an older vehicle for a second opinion on a noise concern, gas tank not fueling properly, and a general look on what else needed repairs. They quoted me $8k+ total for labor and parts. $550 of that just to take out the gas tank to see what's wrong with it. Ridiculous. I took it back to my first trusted shop and expressed my concerns from the second opinion, and needless to say, replacements were not needed. I do appreciate this shop for showing me the issues they were concerned with, and at the same time, some parts can certainly be repaired rather than completely replaced. My trusted shop took out my gas tank and ended up fixing it for less than half of what this business quoted me just to take it out. Crazy. read more

The reviews dont lie, folks! Having to bring your car into a mechanic is pretty much always stressful and annoying, but not when you bring it to Metro Motor. The first time I brought mine here, I dropped my car off overnight on a Friday to get an emissions and inspection done. They open at 7:30a and my car was done before 8a! Today, I brought my car in because my tire pressure light kept coming on after filling my tires numerous times in the past couple of weeks (thought it was maybe because of the change in temperature and with it getting colder) I stopped by last night and I was greeted by [who I think is the owner?] and Ricardo and Ricardo told me to bring my car in the next day and he'd take care of me. Today I brought my car in at 7:30a and by 7:45a, the mechanic rolled my tire in and showed me a nail in it. Within 5 minutes, he came back in and said it was all fixed and it would be no charge. NO CHARGE?? WHAT?? If I had gone anywhere else, I would have been charged for the check/fix or they probably would have lied and said I needed a new tire! Ricardo and the guys here are super friendly and super fast. I HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone for their car needs. I recently started watching 'Walking Dead' and I realize now that in a zombie apocalypse, I would probably be one of the first to die due to my lack of stamina, refusal to kill, delicious, pork flavored skin, and the fact that I pretty much drive my car past empty every single week. Pentagon Liberty has saved me on a few sticky situations and their prices are the lowest this side of the Pike. Even though I have about a bazillion Giant gas points, I still find Liberty's prices to be lower. Their full service maintenance shop is top notch as well! I often go here for oil changes and emissions tests and they always are quick, efficient and knowledgeable. No fuss, no muss. Plus you can grab a waffle at the diner next door while you wait! This gas station has political star power as well. One day I looked out my window to see Newt Gingrich waving next to a giant dancing gas can advertising pre-Obama gas prices. Holy Yelping Success Story! Do not roll your eyes as I say "if I could give them 10 stars.." (because I do that) but in this case, it is justified. After finding them on Yelp, I emailed Ricardo a week ago to say that I had a really simple repair for the beloved Volvo, already had the parts, and just needed someone to install them for me. He replied back right away, said that it was indeed easy, and to come on in on Saturday. I would have just waited a couple of weeks for my dealership in Boston to do it, but I was tired of not being able to use the back/lift door on the SUV and that meant my dog had been sitting on the back seat for weeks, which he loves, but I do not. Also, what good is the car if I cannot use the back??? Off to Liberty I went yesterday. The lot on Columbia Pike is small, but it is a happening place with gas, repairs, emissions tests, etc. A nice guy told me Ricardo was at the Alexandria location, gave me directions and 7 minutes later I found Ricardo at the Kind St. location (thus the cross-post of this at both locations). Ricardo had the two lift gates replaced in about 3 minutes, and refused to charge me. He wouldn't even take money from me until I said "fine, call it dinner money!" and he said the best thank you would be to let others know about his service. With that, Yelp friends, I am thrilled to tell you about Liberty (cheap gas at both locations too, just go early or late in the day since people were all over the place to wait for their turn at the pump). read more

They really are a Pike staple that I will return again and again for my gas needs or car repair needs. I took my car here last week. I had $900 of repairs done at another shop back in March, and my car had been running fine, until seven days ago. Anyways, since it had been less than 90 days, I called, and I was told any shops within the network could see me, and this one was one. I choose it because of the positive Yelp reviews. They looked over my car, and found nothing wrong but made a few helpful suggestions, and they did NOT charge me to look over the car. (And my car hasn't had an issue since. Weird, I know. It is now running fine.) Anyways, my brakes are going bad, and I was quoted $350 to get my brakes resurfaced at another dealership, and this place can REPLACE them for the same price. I will be taking my car back here later this week. I felt like they were honest, and I am now a customer! Update: They replaced my brakes, and everything is going great with my car. The people at this auto shop are among the kindest people I've met in my short time in Arlington since moving here in July. I have been in here on two occasions: once to get an inspection and the second to have a flat tire repaired. The service is fast and the repair guys are willing to go out of their way to help--although they were closed on the Saturday when I took my car in, they told me to come back a few minutes before opening on Monday and they would fix my tire free of charge! This was the Monday before Thanksgiving and I'm sure they were busy, but they made sure I was taken care of promptly and with a smile. It's nice already to have a friendly neighborhood mechanic! I wanted to support our community so I brought my car here for intermediate level work. I had purchased most of the parts myself so I just needed them to install them. These included timing belt kit, stabilizers, mounts and TPMS sensors. I confirmed with them that they had the appropriate programmer for the TPMS sensors and they acknowledged that they could do it. I also asked them to return the TPMS sensors they remove. They identified a second problem later the next day which I also approved for repair. The total cost was about $2700. I get my car back a couple of days later. I got in to drive away and I am surprised with 3 issues. A) TPMS warning light on, B) very high idle speed and C) a whining noise from what seemed to be the transmission. I was not told of any of these issues until after I paid. They gave some excuses as to the problems but I did not believe them. They threw the old sensors away and stated that their programmer did not work with the new sensors. They blamed the new sensors. They attributed the high idle to the cold weather. They claimed the transmission noise was not caused by them. I took my car to the dealership where they programmed the TPMS sensors, so the sensors were not the problem. The dealership also recommended not servicing the transmission because it would fail in the near future. The car has about 130000 miles. I forgot to ask them about the high idle when first starting the car as it returns to normal once the engine reaches normal temperature. So, I will take a look at that myself. In short, I took my car in that was driving fine since all the repairs where being done before failure and I got my car back in worst condition. The owner had the nerve to later call and ask if I would give them a good review!!! I do not recommend these guys for two reasons. A) Shoddy work as described above, and B) Dishonesty - they lied about being able to program the TPMS sensors, they did not disclose any of the problems but waited till I paid and found them (very deceptive behavior). read more

I took my vehicle into Metro Motor after my tire pressure monitor kept turning on even after I filled my tires and I'm glad I did. After arriving and indicating to staff that I had a slow leak in my front left tire, they immediately inspected my tire and identified the problem - a large hexagonal screw. I was initially quoted $20 to plug the tire and the job was completed within 10 minutes while I waited. After the job was completed and I was ready to settle up, I was told to pay Ricardo. While busy working on another vehicle, Ricardo looked up and said "Merry Christmas" and told me it was on the house. I cannot say enough about this place, their professionalism and efficiency. July 9, 2021 my daughter and and I left NC at 5 am, driving in traffic on I-395 in Northern VA, all the way to Philadelphia. Suddenly, we see on the backup camera monitor a message that says PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY, low oil pressure. I am freaked out and have no idea where I am and we had the good fortune to pull into Metro Motor ASAP to prevent further damage to our engine. Ricardo took one look at me (on the verge of breakdown) and he said "Don't worry, I'm going to take care of you". He immediately took a car from the garage someone was working on and pulled my car in, he worked quickly to get our oil issue resolved within about 3 hours and get us back on our way. They didn't have the tire I needed in stock, but Ricardo offered to change my tire to my spare one. Normally, when I got to take my car to mechanics I am a little suspicious and hesitant to believe that the prices and diagnostics are fair. This is primarily due to lessons learned and experience I've had while taking my car to the shop. Metro motor is definitely the exception. A couple of months ago, I took my old Benz to get inspected at metro motor. I decided to go to this place because it had awesome reviews and because it was close to work. The process was fast and the prices were fair ( I had looked online and asked other places, to get a feel for the prices. I waited a few minutes at the shop while my car was being inspected, and had a chance to chat with Ricardo ( who is notorious with both the google and the yelp reviews I had read). He mentioned that they have a mechanic who is an expert in Mercedes, good to know. After chatting with him, I can say that he is an awesome and humble guy. We chatted about his views on how a service business should be run and customer service. I could tell just by talking to him, that he loved helping people and uses his job as a way to accomplish this mission. A couple of days ago, I took car to metro to get it checked out because it was acting up. I went in the morning, before work and dropped off my car. A couple of hours later, I received a call Ricardo. He told me that had run a diagnostic to see what was wrong with my car, and laid out and fully explained the problem they found. He also gave me advice and few cost saving options to fix the car. Since this type of fix was not something that they did, I was not charged for the diagnostic. This is seriously an awesome shop with integrity and honest staff. When I walk in there I feel like I am treated like family. Could not ask for more! Will continue to take my Benz here whenever I need some repairs or guidance. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who needs to get their car inspected, checked or repaired. Just moved to the area and was looking for a reliable mechanic. While I really want this to be the place I service my car at, seems a tad expensive. Service was great and Ricardo went out of his way to even get an emission test from a different shop for my car. However, the charges on service were steeper than I was expecting, which is why I'm a tad disappointed. 60+ dollars for labor to change a cabin air filter was higher than what I had expected especially as it would only take 5 minutes. My car was encountering some tire issues during and after a cross-country road trip. After stops at 3 mechanics and tire shops, including two while on the road, everyone that looked at the car said that there were no issues. I was upsold new tires at the other mechanic shops to no avail and the issue persisted. I brought my car in to Metro Motor and they took car of me quickly and efficiently. Ricardo at the shop showed me exactly what my issue was (three bent wheels) and set me up with a new set within 24hrs since they had to order in a new set. My car was having some issues and I took it to metro motors instead of my usual shop because it was convenient, the diagnostic fee was ridiculous by itself but they gave me a $2300 estimate to fix the issue. Come to find out when I took it back to my usual they said it would be $890 and that the diagnosis was just wrong. Picked it up after the repair and it drives like brand new. Metro couldn't even get the odometer in right on their invoice. Don't go here. read more

Metro Motor: Trustworthy, inexpensive, great service. I've been using Metro Motor on Columbia Pike after a co-worker recommended them a few years ago. Ricardo, the owner, is the most courteous guy you could meet--he gives you the impression he should be a maitre d' of a fancy restaurant rather than a mechanic. He's also incredibly honest - he's advised me against doing some unnecessary repairs on my 2005 Honda CR-V (it would have taken an expensive amount of labor to replace burned out dashboard lights, but we figured out an inexpensive work-around) and his prices on a wheel bearing replacement were the lowest out 3 other nearby shops that I checked (which is the reason why I tried them out in the first place). But he's also not afraid to tell you when your car is unsafe to drive: I had a second bad wheel bearing a last November and he, very seriously, advised me not to drive back to Ohio until it was fixed. This was for my own safety as well as other drivers (at highway speeds for long periods, the weakened bearing could heat up and eventually shear off, leaving you with 3 wheels and turning your detached wheel into a rolling missile that would endanger other cars). It's a small mechanic shop, but I feel like they take good care of my vehicle for a good price--I wholeheartedly recommend them. read more

The crew at Pentagon Liberty has helped out with fixing just about everything on my old Lexus GS (several oil leaks, oxygen sensors, tires, oil changes, spark plugs/wires/ignition coils, brakes, etc.) and every experience has been more than satisfactory. My guy friends, after carefully combing my receipts have said that prices are fair. I'll admit I've only been here once for service and once for gas, but I can see why this place earns 5-stars. I emailed to set up an appointment and Ricardo emailed me within a couple hours. We had a back-and-forth but finally set up an appointment for 10 AM the next day. Since the standards are usually low for responsiveness in the mechanic industry, I was surprised that Ricardo responded so quickly. When I was in the shop, they checked on my car and noticed that my state inspection sticker was expired by a month, so Ricardo notified me and asked to add the state inspection onto the list. I appreciated the heads-up instead of going ahead and adding it without checking in. It took about an hour to complete an oil change, tire rotation, state inspection, and their routine inspection/maintenance. There were multiple cars ahead of mine, so I was expecting to wait longer for my car to get serviced. I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly they took care of my car. I could definitely feel the difference once the oil was replaced too! Excellent and friendly service, and the people who sat with me in the waiting area (free coffee and a TV were useful during the wait) raved about this place.
