I stopped into this little coffee shop after brunch for an afternoon pick me up. The place was quiet and mostly empty. Perfect spot to read a book (which one person was doing). The Barista was friendly and quick. My medium latte was hot and hit the spot. I wouldn't say it was a standout or impressive, but it was good.

Finally checked out @metropolisdenver this morning, trying their cold brew and a croissant! Cute shop that's a perfect pit stop while in LoHi.

Almond milk cortado and a raspberry Italian soda.

A good spot for a quick espresso drink. I enjoyed my almond milk cortado. My son's hot chocolate was rather gray-colored. The service wasn't too friendly, perhaps it was just an off day. I love Metropolis Coffee, but this isn't my favorite location.

Cute coffee shop in LiHi. Staff super friendly and they make a good cup of mocha! I also appreciate that they offer a simply syrup for patrons to add to drinks if desired.

Love this place. We traveled to CO from MN and always look for the best all around coffee shops. This place not only has the warmest and best inside vibes with the wood and metal accents really topping it off, their coffee is fantastic. I'm picky when it comes to how much flavor is in my lattes: I got a vanilla oat milk latte and it was fantastic. The barista was so quick with her service and so friendly!! I tasted more espresso then flavor and that's what I love!! Will def come back many tiMes. Still so thick half way through

The coffees great! The espresso is the perfect amount of acidic and chocolate flavor. Jeremy makes the best lattes and espresso!

An old friend recommended this place. I've been hitting up espresso shops all over LoHi and downtown all week and I can say, without reservation, that this is best of the of them, for my tastes. And that's saying lot, because there is SO MUCH good coffee in Denver. I feel like their coffee sits favorably with places like Stumptown, Intelligentsia, and my local Maryland favorite, Vigilante. A solid Third-Wave coffee shop with cool and friendly staff (thanks Tim and Zach!)

The best espresso drink I had in Denver! The drink was strong but so smooth. The shop is very small but clean.

Metropolis Coffee was conveniently located a few blocks from our Airbnb in LoHi and I made the fatal error of waiting until the last day to check it out.

I would give them 3.5 stars if I could, but I'm rounding up for the great service. My first visit was excellent. Service was very friendly and helpful, asking if I wanted to bundle the two empanadas I wanted with a sauce for $10, a deal I had not noticed. I got a mushroom empanada, a BBQ chicken empanada, and a side of chimichurri. I was told it would take about 10 minutes for my order, which I appreciated for two reasons: (1) it set my expectation properly and (2) it meant the empanadas would be freshly baked. My empanadas were ready on time and were excellent. They were crispier than other baked empanadas I've had and had great fillings. The chimichurri was one of the best I've had, packed with herbs and the right amount of acidity. I thought the size of the empanadas was reasonable, with two being enough for the light meal I wanted. There were different staff there the second time I visited, and the empanadas weren't cooked as well. The bottoms were a little soggy. The atmosphere is spare but clean, with seating only at counters at the windows. But they also had a nice outdoor patio and a water dispenser inside, which are nice features.

My friend has been telling me about this place so after wee checked out the amazing McGuckins Hardware, this is where we had planned to have dinner. My friend and I both had the #3 and #15 empanadas and both were great! But, i did not like their chimichurri, a little too lemony for me. We also got some alfajores and they were good (I am still trying to finish one of them - they are big!). The USA vs Paraguay FIFA match was on and there was lot of people in here watching. They had a screen projector TV and that worked out great! I'd definitely come back here again to watch soccer if I lived closer! Owner is very nice and this place has a great story! Messi T shirts also sold here and some merch too. They also have ready made empanadas to take home to warm up too! Love this place, so glad I got to try it out with my friends!

While I was there though I was not going to pass up the chance to get some empanadas but since I didn't come with an agenda I just told the guy behind the counter give me two choices of whatever you think is good. I appreciated when instead of questioning or getting confused or asking a follow up he just "you got it boss" and entered in the choices without thinking twice. I knew that he was a real one for this. I got my mate which they have on tap! On tap mate is dangerous but it was very delicious. They had two flavors one mixed with orange juice and one that was simply sweetened (not overly sweet at all. Less sweet than any yellow canned mate you might be thinking of). I tried both choices and the orange juice one was really good but after a full glass I felt a little weighed down. I can't remember the last time I drank that much orange juice. The food comes out and this is where my review is going to get unhelpful. I have no idea what either of these are called and honestly I don't need to know. The flavors were on point for both. One was a traditional seeming empanada with a ground beef mixture on the inside. Not spicy but the flavors were robust. The outer layer of the empanada was also flavorful but fell apart a bit from the heavy sog of beef filling. The taste was still great for all of it and it came with some kind of chimichurri adjacent sauce on the side that was maybe the best thing about the empanada. The second choice was less of an empanada and more of a tart or small pie? It had cheese and corn for the filling and was extremely gooey. Like more gooey than it had any right to be. I don't need to tell you that the combination of crust, cheese, and corn was delicious. If anything it was maybe a little too simple but I could eat that any day of the week and be happy. I got a wonderful table outside under some shade and gave my baby daughter some bites of the meat filling. She loved it. Left after drinking two more cups of the standard mate and felt amazing.
