The vibes of the shop weren't the most welcoming but it wasn't bad either. My friends and I came in to get some piercings. I don't remember the name of the piercer but he seemed cool. Go to get my eyebrow done and the dots he put on my face looked okay. He grabbed the needle then he just grabbed my skin, no clamp. Non of my piercings have been done without a clamp. The moment he pinched my skin I knew the piercing wasn't going to turn out alright. It took him 3 shoves to get the needle through my skin. The first shove was definitely at the wrong angle and I felt it. After it finally went through he put the jewelry in which was fine. Went to look in the mirror and the jewelry is sitting so low on my brow, like in the middle of my eyelid low. To say the least I'm disappointed. Just updating because a year later this piercing is still causing me hell. It was pierced at the wrong angle in the wrong part of my nose. The jewelry put in was very poor quality, which led to so many infections that I have a permanent keloid on nose. It's just a big,ugly bump now. It is unhealable and constantly reminds me that I should have trusted my gut and left as soon as I got a bad vibe from the piercer! read more

Walked by on a Friday night with a girlfriend of mine. We were looking to get tattoos but the artist was out that night so we decided on piercings instead. KP was able to help us, he was friendly and most importantly clean! We accidentally placed a flyer on the counter in his work area and he nicely removed the flyer, stated he needed to sanitize and changed his gloves, twice! We apologized of course and he said no biggie, I just want to make sure we're keeping the area cleaned for all three of our safety. Piercing was quick and have since followed his cleaning directions. The place doesn't offer many options for jewelry. I had to choose between two for my tragus, one being $70 and the other being around $130. Definitely overpriced, my sister went to get her tragus pierced at Enigma and the jewelry itself was just $30. I went with my friend to get our ears pierced and chose that place solely because it was open at night. It got infected even though I took perfect care of it, this never happened with my other piercings so I know it was the overpriced jewelry. When I called, the woman speaking was extremely rude and defensive when I told her it was infected. Terrible customer service. I would definitely recommend other studios such as Enigma or SD tattoo. read more

I got my navel pierced by Steven Mitchell on 12/26/22. He promised me that he was experienced he knew what he was doing, but sadly he didn't. Basically it ended up getting infected because it wasn't pierced properly, and there was no way to completely clean it. Also the pain was immediately bad and I was unable to do job. By 1/3/23 the pain and infection was so bad that I left work and went to urgent care where they removed the piercing. This cost me $75. So for $150 ($75 for urgent care +$75 for the piercing) I ended up with NOTHING!! In February when my navel was healed I went to another piercer in Lemon Grove. He told me that the 2 holes in my navel showed that it wasn't pierced correctly. He said that the bottom hole was too shallow and I probably never could have cleaned it properly. In other words, I was totally screwed but just didn't know it. I now have a new healed and beautiful navel piercing that cost me $65. So it looks like I'm out a total of $215 in piercing money as well as a half a day's work! This ended up being way too expensive and all because Steven did my piercing wrong. He may do good work on others, but he didn't on me! JUST BE CAREFUL!! read more

Super great service and shoutout to Steven for piercing my friend and my ears quickly! I wanted to get a piercing for a while and decided that I wanted to finally get one. I called a few places but they either didn't have the piercer in or were appointment only so when I called Metropolis, they had walk-ins available. When we got there in the afternoon, there was no wait. All we had to do was sign the consent forms and then Steven got to work. He gave us a card on different ear piercings for us to choose from and we both got the helix one. the place itself is also really clean and well kept. The piercing itself took seconds The whole procedure of sanitizing, marking, piercing, and putting in jewelry took under 10 minutes and was relatively painless for the helix one. For the helix one, it's $60 for both the piercing process and jewelry, which is a pretty fair price for helix piercings. Since this is in North Park, a lot of the parking is street parking, but there was some free street parking for 2 hours across from Metropolis that you could park at. read more

Finally on a whim I decided to get it done on a trip with my friends three weeks ago and found Metropolis. I was nervous through the waiver signature and and almost backed out but then I met my piercer and he was SUCH A PROFESSIONAL! I wish I remembered his name, but he took his time explaining exactly what he was going to do and on his own accord showed me a couple different options or placement noting which one he preferred and why. I don't think the equipment was sterilized properly I have had piercings and tattoos and I never had an experience like this before , I Do not recommend this place.
