Adam is the best bartender... the nachos are huge. Would suggest you have more than one person to enjoy them with. I was reluctant to leave a review here because I came here for a Wine and Food event with a tasting menu but I truly believe that even after eating from this menu that their food from the regular menu has to be just as good! The food is usually good, but beware the shrimp: I ordered a banging shrimp, and the shrimp were rotten (tasted like chlorine). Also, watch out for a secret "surcharge fee". See the attached photo. Even though we spent over $100 for just two people, we got charged the fee. read more

I had the Bangin' Shrimp Tacos, Chips and Salsa, & a Pineapple flavored beer! The inside of this little restaurant has such a cool vibe. The Bangin' Shrimp tacos had a delicious sauce that was drizzled on top - spectacular! I could eat these tacos every day! I've been here twice and while the service is always stellar, the food has been hit or miss. The first time I came here, I ordered the fajitas. Absolutely amazing, definitely get this if you come here. Second time I ordered the nachos mama with ground beef and it was not that great. The queso seemed to be put on the bottom so when it hardened, it just stuck to the parchment and I had to scrape it off. Toppings were scarce as well if you look my my picture. I go crazy for nachos but these are at the bottom of my list of nachos I've had sadly. Also ordered a pineapple mockarita which was tasty. Will stick to fajitas next time! read more

Food is good. Pricing is typical for Charleston. The water has an off taste, so you're better off ordering a tea or soda. $1 wings all day on Saturday and Sunday is advertised but we were told it's actually only during happy hour. Not really a fan of that. read more

Went there the first time yesterday. The food was fast, we sat down and within about 20 minutes had our delicious hot food at our table. Food was pretty good, service was great. The place wasn't packed but definitely had some people. Servers were warm, and friendly. read more

Ordered takeout from here and was very disappointed. First of all, the portion sizes were abysmal. The picture is a picture of the fajita with beef that costs $24. The mexi-cali burrito that we ordered was not much better and was barely half the size of the photo and costed another $20. The taste of the food was nothing special either. The flavor was dull and the beans tasted like they had been frozen. Overall a complete waste of money. There are numerous Mexican food options in Charleston that are way better than this location. read more

Awesome creative tacos with seafood done exactly right accompanied by tasty sauce, fresh corn (also very tasty) on a flour tortilla. Spicy, cheesy beans and rice. The food was extremely mediocre. This place is the definition of mediocre honestly. The portions are small too. Also, have to pay for chips and salsa which seems sacrilegious. Paying for chips and salsa is one thing but for the waiter to not bring you more chips when they're gone is crazy too. Only good thing about this place was their ranch waters, they were delicious. I came here for happy hour, and was impressed by their margarita and hydrator drink. Both were fairly priced at six dollars each. I also really enjoyed the chips and queso! The chips were fantastic. Parking is abundant and they have a nice outdoor seating area, though it can be kind of loud because of their location near the road. I popped in on my lunch break to Mex1 for the first time and I couldn't be happier with my first experience. I just started small and tried two of their $3 Street tacos special for Taco Tuesday and they were delicious. Everything from the chips and salsa to the tacos tasted very fresh and yummy. My food came out fast too so I was able to get in and out before I went over my break time. Mallory did an excellent job, it wasn't busy but she was still attentive and making sure I was doing ok. Nice vibes in the restaurant too. The only snafu I would say that this place has is its parking. There aren't many spaces when it's busy obviously but they also seem a little bit smaller in width than normal, or maybe I'm just being a little too cautious who knows lol . Mex 1 is a great place to watch a game or casually hang out. We came in a Monday night for trivia and were able to find parking in the back lot and find a table for a rather large group. Our server was very attentive and efficient and handled all different orders and requests perfectly without missing a bit. I stuck a the Mexican ashtrays which are Tecate cans with lime and hot sauce , and for my diner I had a steak quesadilla . The quesadilla was good and large enough that I was able to bring back a quarter for lunch the next day. Lots of fun , great food and parking, check it out! read more

Food Fish taco Specialty Bangin' shrimp taco, Baja fish taco, Carne asada classic taco, tacos sold individually for around 6.50 rach, with Baja seasoned fries with a brown ale tidal creek. One hard shell and two soft flour tortillas. Good music, very good food, fun ambiance and a most pleasant barista. An exceptional way to end a very hard work day. read more

I am so happy I found this spot! I've known about the hype in Sullivan's but never made a visit to either location. Came here for dinner with a friend and we were both so happy. The service was super friendly and crazy fast. I'm vegan and got the mushroom burrito bowl thing. It didn't sound all that exciting but it was insanely good. The mushrooms were absolutely phenomenal, I like mushrooms fine but very rarely get excited about them. Another surprise is that it was so affordable compared to similar restaurants in Charleston! My bowl was a LOT of good quality food for under $15. Great vibe for a social dinner. read more

While the tacos and the chips and queso were good, half of the draft beer system was down, so my meal wasn't complete. There was trivia going on, and the sound system was obnoxiously loud. I have higher expectations on tacos being from Texas so not sure if my take on the tacos are fair. For starters, we go to Mex1 weekly. We had lunch there today (2 adults, 1 child) and our bill before tip was $76! They are now charging $4 for chips and salsa which was the least of my concern. We ordered a kids quesadilla and it was $11. For a tiny quesadilla. While the food was good as usual. The prices have went through the roof and the service from the waitress we had sucked. We were there for an hour and half, mostly waiting to just order and pay our bill. There were only 5 tables total in the restaurant occupied. We passed by this restaurant on our way to our vacation home in Folly beach. My husband spotted the sign and suggested we go here for dinner on one of our first nights in South cCaolina. This little restaurant was probably some of the best food that we had in our entire vacation, and we found it by accident! The salsa was very fresh, the cocktail menu had some unique things to try and the food was delicious. It has some outdoor seating, but most of it is inside. Our server had been with the company for roughly 10 years. He was extremely knowledgeable, had recommendations right off the bat when we asked for them, and he really made us feel very welcome. My husband had street tacos and Mexican corn which he was really looking forward to. He also had queso as an appetizer. I took the server's recommendation and had a steak quesadilla as well as their complimentary chips and salsa as an appetizer. It was all really good! Two downsides, it's easy to pass on the street as it's a standalone restaurant in a fairly nondescript building that you could pass by quickly if you weren't paying attention. The parking lot is pretty small too. You could easily get shut out of dining here if you don't find a parking spot. We highly recommend this place and will certainly be back when we return to South Carolina! read more
