We went to Santi's Restaurante for lunch and they greeted us at the door and seated us. Our server brought us the menus. From the drink menu, we ordered a Spicy Margarita and a Mojito. Meanwhile, our server got the chips and salsa. We were looking at the lunch menu and saw that a lot of the food options either had shredded chicken or different meat that we don't really like. I just love Santi's so much. So here is my opportunity to gush about them! The decor is random, silly, and fun and makes the experience even better. We are always able to snag a table and the service is always quick and attentive. The food is delicious and definitely not overpriced. We got a margarita pitcher split between 4 people, and I got two steak tacos all for $20 with tip (with the pitcher split up). And of course we got our free chips and salsa at the beginning. Was in the area for the week, and boy oh boy did this satisfy every craving I could have. Their Queso Dip was absolutely DELICIOUS - with a good kick. Frozen margs were 10/10. And I can never be happier than when a place like this has ACP!! It was absolutely INCREDIBLE. I am so wishing I didn't live on the opposite side of the country, because I'd simply be here every single day. The service was quick, easy and everyone was super kind. I cannot get over how beautiful the patio is! Lots of greeneries and beautiful Mexican decorations. We picked a beautiful day to sit outside to enjoy the food and the breeze. Chips and salsa on the house were tasty. The salsa came with a little spicy. And the chip is perfect crisp. I got the quesadilla dinner special item. It came with 3 small tacos that they made into a quesadilla with bean and rice. It wasn't a big portion, but just enough to fill me up. Service was a bit slow. Fun Mexican place frequented by the younger crowd. Came here on a busy Friday night. There was a slight wait to get a table, but we were served our food immediately. They have a huge staff that stays very busy! Food is pretty standard Tex-mex, but everything we had was quite tasty. I particularly enjoyed the Al pastor taco and quesadilla. This is not a Michelin restaurant, but if you go in knowing what to expect, I think you'll have a good time :) Prices are very reasonable! We went to a late lunch about 3pm. The staff could not be more helpful leading to quick seating and beverages. The ambiance of the Savanah highway one is very festive and appealing. Both inside and outdoor seatings. The complimentary salsa and chips were very good. The salsa very flavorful. We both selected the taco dinner. Comprised of three tacos, refried beans and rice. We had the choice of meat and we picked the pastor (pork). First the rice, based on experience was tasteless. The beans, though favorable, I thought were a little runny. My wife complained her tacos were quit salty. After having mine I agreed. We were hoping for better as friends fairly raved about this restaurant. Maybe between primary meals rushes, we didn't get the best results? We will try the other on Meeting Street downtown for further evaluation. read more

It was the perfect day to sit outside and Santi's has this amazing jungle feel to their outdoor patio with the sun peeking through the trees and the nice breeze was so nice. They had a pretty extensive menu and a lot of options so I was feeling torn. They offered authentic Mexican tacos which I love (American style was an option too) Our servers were two very nice ladies and were very attentive despite how busy they were. I was happy to find out they had Caipirinha's! My friend nachos were a huge, I got the enchiladas verde which was good and the star dish was the camarones a la diablo. If you love shrimp, garlic and spice. You HAVE to get this dish. It was seriously addicting and you got this delicious homemade guacamole that they put back inside a half shell which I thought was so cool. New to the area and tried this location as it looks so cute from the outside and have been seeing their other locations in the area. We sat outside on the lit up, uber decorative patio. But honestly, that's all the place had going for it. The waiters were fairly disinterested, and it took a long time to place our order and get the bill. The waiters staff was hard to find. The food was just ok. Not anything I'd want to try twice. But the final kicker was when I went to 1 of the 2 available bathrooms, and it didn't even have a toilet seat. For a place that must have spent a lot of time, money and thought into decorating, they could have gotten a toilet seat at the Restore two blocks away. read more

The chips here are so good!! We polished off probably 3 baskets of them. The inside is really cute, lots of seating, but mostly for smaller groups, I wouldn't recommend a party larger than 6 for this location. All of the food is pretty cheap and comes out fast, I did struggle to get my water refilled by the waiter, but wasn't really busy to warrant that. read more

As a first time visitor to Charleston, Santi's was recommended for Mexican food. Was happy that I went there, as the food was delicious. Service was haphazard, as there were at least four different servers over the course of my meal. The chips and salsa were fresh and delicious. I'm not usually that guy who leaves bad reviews, because 1) what's the point? and 2) maybe I just had a bad experience but others really enjoy it. Outside of the service and outdoors area, I can't really think of anything I liked about Santis. The margs were syrupy sweet with the frozen ones seeming to be void of alcohol. The food was...well, not great. It's not good, I'm sorry. Everything had this taste as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp for an hour. I may be wrong, but it just wasn't for me. If you enjoy it, great! It just wasn't for me, what can I say. I still encourage people to try this place out for themselves, like I always do. My first time at this place. I've been wanting to go based on how packed the parking lot is and it looks like a party. I went on a Friday afternoon at 3pm. One hour before happy hour (story of my life). There were very few people there. You seat yourself outside. The patio has been decorated like a tropical rainforest. It's unlike anything I've been to so far in Charleston. I was served chips and salsa immediately and asked what I wanted to drink. I ordered a mango margarita. I'm always on a quest for carne asada fries. They almost have them. They have skirt steak w fries. I had them put the steak on the fries and cover w cheese. Delish!! The meal came w beans and rice and 2 flour and 2 corn tortillas. Everything from the food to the service to the ambiance was on point. Highly recommend. The atmosphere outside is great! Decorations and the covered pergola. Very cute and perfect for October! Loved the fun-nature everyone had with skeletons literally crawling up the walls... The food was decent but we didn't get what we ordered and they weren't very attentive to our requests; including not refilling water glasses. A good rule of thumb for attentive and good service is how long your water glass sits untouched/refilled. The chips, salsa and queso were great, so if you're there for drinks and a snack, this is perfect! The mojito was quite refreshing to boot. However, the fact that several in our party had dietary restrictions and this was told, noted and not adhered to was a little unsettling. I had tried the one down the street from where I grew up and that was about a 4 star, so I figured the OF that everyone raves about would have been at least that or better. I'm willing to give them another try on the atmosphere and location alone when meeting up with friends from different parts of town. read more

First time dining here and I instantly felt like I was sitting in an enchanted garden. Santi's green decor was very appealing to me. We sat inside since the patio was packed, but it was such a beautiful space. The place was packed and the workers were moving non-stop. They had a certain rhythm and flow about them that just worked. Our waiter was nice and greeted us with a smile. He made recommendations to us since it was our first visit. The drinks were oh so GOOD! I had the frozen strawberry margarita and my friend had the lime on the rocks. I was a little disappointed that they didn't serve black beans, but settled for refried. I had the deep Fried Chimichanga and my guest had the Steak Ranchero. It took no time to prepare our order and everything was delicious. Our waiter was not that friendly, never came back to ask if we wanted more napkins or chips. The margarita had zero tequila in it and was all mix. We had to pay for another shot just to be able to tolerate it and we were overcharged for that. The enchiladas mole were the worst I've ever had. I dknow. It tasted like somebody had opened up a pack of Swiss Miss and put it on top of cheese enchiladas which weren't very good to begin with. The sauce was overloaded with sugar and just disgusting. It had been years since I had been to Santi's so I thought I would go since I work so close to them. I must say I was disappointed, the beans are watered down, the rice had hard spots on them. The queso fundido was not liquidity, so it was hard to scoop with your tortilla chips. I did mention this to the waiter but he was not concerned that my party all felt the same and did not eat the beans and rice. The food, in all, was mediocre at best. The prices are too high for food that is okay at best. I would not go back since I can get authentic Mexican food at Tiki Taco. Wholly MACKERAL.....The wet burrito was amazing! I decided that I needed a quick lunch and since this place was close to work, I figured that it would be solid. I called and spoke to a very cordial young lady on the phone who received my order and stated that it would be about 15 minutes. On arrival, you would have thought that they were giving something away for free at the amount of people who were attempting to locate a parking lot. Once I found a spot (an in the way spot at that), I quickly went inside to retrieve my burrito. Once inside I could see that seating was minimal but crammed packed! I shimmied and shaked my way to the cashier who gave me my burrito with a smile, and I was able to pay. Once in my vehicle, I couldn't wait, so I opened the container to see a true gut buster! As I enjoyed the delicious mixture of flavorful ingredients, I had to remind myself that I needed to return to work. Once consumed, I found myself under the spell of the "ITIS" and spent the rest of the day trying to outrun it. At the end of the day, the food was ample and satisfying....but will definitely put you to sleep! read more

Now that I've had their food I will visit the one just down the street. It was very crowded and loud. It was raining and at night so I couldn't see what the parking situation was like. Me and my BF got food poisoning here on New Year's Eve. It's the only thing we ate that day. New Year's Day we cooked at home and had friends over. We started getting extremely sick after our friends left around 11:30pm on New Year's Day. If you have ever had food poisoning then you know the kind of sick I'm talking about. We checked on our friends to make sure it didn't come from them. They are completely healthy no issues. But my burrito came out with no green sauce (which was supposed to be included) and no sour cream on the side. The inside was a bit dry overall, more cheese could have been helpful. Santi's is a Charleston staple and I couldn't believe I hadn't been yet!! Okay first of all, now I know why all the College of Charleston kids pregame here! One margarita and I was SET! Great margarita and it lasted me a long dinner. I got 3 steak Mexican tacos and was FULL! To be fair I ate my weight in chips and queso, but the tacos were still the perfect amount. I left full, fat and happy!! Overall staff was super cute and friendly! Loved their energy. I did feel like it was a bit more expensive than a typical Mexican restaurant, but I have to say the quality is better than most! Will definitely be back!! read more
