First time here. Had the Special Al Pastor Burrito. Pretty cheap price. I like their sauce on the burrito and inside the burrito. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients in their sauces, but the meat is not as flavorful as I have tasted at other places. Also, they kind of stingy on the amount of meat. Over all it is ok. I also have been going to Mexican Burritos since they were in their old location on Contra Costa Blvd when I used to work across the street in the building that housed the VA administration, so I know all the guys that work there from a long time ago. The tacos are OK as are most of the other menu..but the real clincher, for me anyway, has been the Chile Verde wet burrito and/or the Carnitas wet Burrito. Whenever I get the urge..which is often...for a tasty burrito smothered in either green sauce or Mole sauce, I head over lickety split to visit my old amigos and they've never dissapointed. Sometimes I eat there and chat with the staff or sometimes I drive back home to Walnut Creek and eat at home. I paid $ 44.67 for two Menudos and two al Pastor burritos. the place is decently clean but the customer service is very bad. I waited 35 minutes to get my order and the placed was empty when I arrived. The menudo is very grease and stinks.... "uneatable"... the hand made tortillas were raw still... How can you mess up tortillas that bad?????? OMG .. the two burritos were no more than average, I say average because the rice and beans were fresh but the meat... again not cooked all the way..... I end up trowing my food to the garbage because I didn't want my kids to get sick..... I encourage the owner to own the responsability and do something about the customer service and the quality of the food. read more

Big, wet, and sloppy is what best describes the main attraction at Mexican Burritos. Order one of their namesake burritos, but don't even think about eating one of these in your car while driving. At best you will be embarrassed by the mess you make all over yourself, or worse maybe add some data to the intelligent design dialog by proving Darwin right... So just sit down and enjoy it there. True the interior is functional at best, and most likely it will be crowded with Hispanic day labors winding down from their day of hard work and Mexican music will be playing in the background. This is a great place to revel in the cultural diversity that makes the Bay Area so wonderful. It's hard to get a better value for the money and unlikely you will not leave full. read more

I've been to a couple events where the food was provided from here and I thought it was pretty good, especially for such a wide variety of meats. I visited the restaurant for the first time the other day for lunch and it was pretty empty, so we were served quickly. They don't speak very much English, but pointing always works. You can get a bowl with meat(s), cheese, sour cream, etc. and then just get a few tortillas and make your own tacos. The interior isn't anything to write home about, but it's a typical Mexican restaurant on Monument. Also, they only take cash. read more

Just moved to the area and needed a burrito spot. Tried this one out and made the best decision ever.

Got the quesadilla with carne asada. Put in a real nice amount of meat. Good amount if you're not starving and don't want to feel too full. $4 with tax; very nice price. Guy rounded my 90 cents change to $1; muchos gracias. Was actually trying to go to Molina in the same strip mall, but went here by mistake. I thought the "Mexican Burriotos" was a generic explanation of the food served, not the actual name. However, turned out well. It's the kind of place you don't expect English to be spoken (but it is). nice assortment of meats. Guac was cut a bit, but no more than I've seen other lower-end establishment do. I can't visit the Bay Area without stopping in at Mexican Burritos. I love this place for their quality ingredients, kitchen cleanliness, price, and friendly service. I feel good supporting this restaurant. Their wet burrito is simply delicious. I frequently order their machaca because it's flavorful and tender, but their lengua and shrimp are also exceptional (especially the made-to-order shrimp tacos). If you order the burrito with everything on it, including their salsa roja, you won't be disappointed. Guard your leftovers, if you have any. read more

Food: 3/5 Value: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambience: Cost: $8.11 for 2 tacos, side of beans, a can of Pepsi. This complex has several taquerias. I've tried all of them. (Sorry I haven't reviewed most of them.) A $2 taco normally comes with one meat, fresh salsa, and sour cream. I don't like sour cream so I asked them to trade it our for a pile of fresh lettuce. No problem. And I like beans in my tacos so I got a side of beans. The tortillas are fresh, they have real salsa from chile de arbol, and the carnitas were full of porky goodness and not greasy. That said, they threw some oil on the grill just before throwing on my tortillas--darn it! That made my otherwise fresh tortillas a little greasy. Next time I'll be sure to ask them not to pre-grease the grill when they heat the tortillas. read more

Great tasting burritos. They are smothered in an enchilada sauce. Highly recommend the chile verde burrito. You may feel a little bloated and have difficulty walking for a couple hours, but man is it worth it once in a while. read more

This one should be featured on "Bay Area cheap eats". You can easily get two dishes for less than $10! .. On top of it the food is excellent. It's along the Monument Corridor which has a lot of mexican restaurants, but this one by far is my favorite of them all. They are only closed Sunday's, have plenty of parking as they are part of a strip mall. Staff is really friendly and will even tolerate me when I butcher their beautiful language. This place is pretty popular among the local working crowd, noise level will depend on how many beers they had that day. The best dish there would be the shrimp plate which features rice and re-fried beans with tons of Shrimp you can choose between ranchero or fajita style (again, sorry for butchering the language). They'll give you plenty of tortillas. If you order the burrito, beware!! It is HUGE! You won't be able to eat it on the go and actually have to sit down and use a fork and knife for it. It's so big, it easily feeds two people. It's very yummy too and definetly worth it. Try their torta..man it's delicious..Also good item Tacos de volcan, crispy tacos with some melted Cheese, meat of your choice, pinto beans and a nice hot sauce that will make steam come out of your ears. My mouth waters thinking about the tortas..They toast the bread lightly, put some mayo and lettuce and do take them with carne asada (beef)...soooo good. read more

I came expecting a good coctel de camarón they say they are great at making "mariscos" as i went in it took 5 minutes for some one to aknowlage me when i finally ate my coctel it was the most diacusting thing it was nothing but clamato and 4 shrimp and 2 cubes of avocado seriously I paid $18 for a coctel and a tamarind water and this is all I get i would recommend for people to stay away from this place its a waste of money. read more

I had a chicken burrito, which didn't have a whole lot of flavor when I ate half the first night, but I had the other half for lunch the next day - and it tasted much better the 2nd day! I guess the chicken had more time to marinate. Overall I'd say its OK. read more

I've been coming here for over 7 years i love how not a lot has changed in this place since then, they have the same employees which is great because they are always so nice & friendly. They absolutely have the best tortas in the area for a great price, the place across the street called Los Rancheros also has pretty amazing tortas but they're somewhat pricey, & somehow they always mess up in my orders so i'd rather go to Mexican Burritos, the carne asada torta is the best i always order it with grilled onion which just makes it amazing!! My friend tryed their burritos & she was also very pleased by it, its a huge burrito & i like that you see the guys making your food right there in front of you.This place is just amazing & the awsome service just makes it a whole lot better. read more

Stopped in for lunch while shopping with my wife, the burritos were fantastic. Prices were reasonable, $7.50 got a large loaded burrito. For an extra couple of bucks, you can get shrimp on it. Looking forward to returning! read more

Had dinner here last night and I won't be going back. I don't know if I just ordered the wrong thing here but I had a chicken enchilada with red sauce and the sauce looked and tasted like it was straight out of a can. The chicken had some unsavory pieces in it, and the enchilada lacked flavor. The refried beans were the best part of my plate. Oh yeah, the chips were pretty good too and they gave it to us on the house. I should say that my husband ordered a carne asada burrito and said it was pretty good. So maybe try the burritos or tacos instead if you decide to go here? read more

Like many others, I've been coming to Mexican Burritos since the 1990's. I can't vouch for their entire menu as the thing I love here, I get each time. Their Special Burrito, no meat - wet, is terrific! What I like most is its predictable. It's not different every time, I know what to expect. Their salsa/hot sauce is really yummy too. My kids get the carnitas, or just a plain BRC , and its always good, and fast. Cash only limits me sometimes into taking a quick stop off for burritos, but maybe that's a good thing. I treat myself occasionally and that's ok as I'm not in a hurry to look at the fat content of their burritos :) But if you want a good burrito, without all the fancy schmancy, this is a great place. read more

Things have changed. The employees were different, the menu on the wall (which having gone to this place since I was 8 I'm no longer accustomed to actually looking at) was clearly "new." More importantly, the flavors were different. The burrito tasted overwhelmingly of the type of sourness that one expects from Chipotle. The once divine enchilada sauce, a near gravy-like concoction on chiles, tomatoes, lard/beefy goodness, tasted just like tomatoes... like something you'd find on a crappy pasta at a crummy diner. The salsas were not bad, but were definitely sour. It had been a little over a year since my last visit. Hopefully it was just an off day. Had this place been new to me, based on flavor alone, I would have never gone back and awarded only two stars. But the lengua was just as fatty and delicious as ever so not all was a complete loss. read more

I was so happy to find this place after moving here from San Diego. I was very disappointed to find that almost all of the East Bay Mexican food has the healthy "fresco" taste. Mexican Burritos actually has legit-tasting Mexican food. My soda was a little flat, but it didn't matter cause the drippy mess of beef and beans was amazing! read more

Had high expectations but left disappointed. The prices were good. However, the food was very lacking in taste, pretty bland. I got a carne asada burrito and meat was really hard and no taste. I also got a carnitas taco which was a liitle better tasting but the meat and even the tortilla was still somewhat hard. I am not going back here too, often especially when there is better out there. read more
