This taqueria has gotten a pretty low rating. According to my parents this should be a 5 plus star taqueria . They love this place and compare all other taquerias and restaurants that serve burritos. Burrito-Their favorite offering is their super burrito. No beans and sour cream and the guacamole on the side. My dad likes the sour cream and my more likes the guacamole. They split the burritos in half so each gets what they love. Mom says that this is quality guacamole and isn't that guacamole sauce that some restaurants use. I agree it's authentic guacamole. They folded the foil inside the burrito so that was a bit awkward. Taco Tuesdays- I'm not sure if they still offer taco Tuesday specials. We did not see any ads for it. Tacos- Tacos in general was not listed as one of their offerings that I could see. I was really disappointed as i really wanted a taco plate. While walking to our table we saw someone being served a taco so you can order tacos. Next time I'll inquire. Tostada- They didn't have tacos offered from what I could see so I got the next smallest offering and got the tostada. I wanted a burrito but, I didn't want that much food. My husband wasn't with me so I couldn't share with him. The tostada was tasty. It had lots of meat, enough for 2 tacos if I were to of had tacos. The meat was tasty and the sour cream and guacamole was a plus. Chips and salsa bar- They offer all you can eat free chips and salsa. It's serve yourself up front near the cashier. Parking- They are part of a strip mall so there is plenty of parking. There were a lot of parked cars when we arrived, Monday July 13, 2026 around 2pm. We did luck out and get a space right up front. Bathrooms- They have a unisex bathroom for their patrons. You do need to get the key from there that is kept under the counter. The key is attached to a basket. Offerings- They have a huge variety of food. From ice cream, smoothies, fresh juice, and all the hot food offerings a taqueria would serve. I love they have so many pictures of their menu items. I wish they had text next to the wall pictures so I can see what everything is. They also have a digital menu up front. Tables- They have many tables. Unfortunately the table we chose, the only free one wasn't bussed. We piled up the dirty dishes and drinks and put them to the side so we could still occupy the table. With the limited seating they need to have someone bus the tables more often. Ambiance- It's a taqueria and feels like one. The price of the food has skyrocketed over the years, but still reasonable price in comparison. It's a bare bones taqueria. Not decorated special to make you feel like you're in Mexico. They do not have TVs so you can't watch the World Cup while you are eating. If you are looking for a taqueria this is your place. You'll get a good meal. We stopped in around 1:30am and ordered a carnitas burrito--honestly, it was fantastic. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was incredibly delicious. We also grabbed some chips and tried both the green and red salsas from the salsa bar, and they were equally impressive. The al pastor taco was 10/10! Flavor was so good that I truly wish I just got Al pastor for both tacos! Also ordered Agua Frescas -- horchata , Jamaica and the Cóctel de Camarón. Yum! It was early, early Friday morning & I'd had a full Thursday. I was grumpy, hungry & didn't feel like cooking. I wasn't in the mood for breakfast for dinner so it was TLGE to the rescue. Shrimp in hot red sauce 4.7outta5 It was delicious! The spices and flavors blended so well together. I love spicy, flavorful food and this hit the mark. I do wish the guac would've been packaged separately. The warmth from the other foods caused it to become slimy and lose its flavor. Tortillas, beans & rice were as advertised. Absolutely terrible experience. The staff here have no manners whatsoever rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. We told the lady that our food was cold, she looked at us and threw those inside the microwave. To make matters worse, I saw one of the cooks walk straight into the bathroom with his apron still on! That is beyond disgusting and shows how little they care about basic hygiene or their customers' health. If that's how things are handled in front of customers, I can only imagine what goes on behind the scenes. This place needs serious management intervention and health inspection. Been using Taqueria Los Gallos Express for my summer parties for about 6-7 years now. I work specifically with Jorge, who manages the catering; he very response. But let's talk about the FOOD. Their tacos are to die for. I usually do the package that allows maximum meat coverage, so I do the chicken, carnitas, carne asada and al pastor. The package I get also offers rice, beans, grilled veggies, quesadillas and all the condiments (dif salsas, sour cream, cheese, onions, EVERYTHING). Pricing is pretty reasonable for what you get. Usually the taco guys will arrive about an our or so before service to set up, then when guests arrive, they are ready to serve (three hours). When done, if there are leftovers, they will box up for you but you need to provide the containers. I've always had a great experience with them and will continue to use them for future events. read more

Pretty good experience! Had the chance to try this place out today and it did not disappoint! I went early in the morning so luckily it was not too busy. The inside is super comfortable vibes and the staff are so friendly and accommodating. I had the chance to try multiple dishes and all were very pleasant and tasty! The portion sizes are great for the price. They also had a lot of stuff at their salsa bar, including grilled onions, pickled veggies, and much more! On August 27th, my husband and I visited this establishment for a second time. You can see everything that we ordered on the receipt. The woman who runs the place I guess she's the manager; I'm not sure brought us our food. I asked her about the flan and she assured me it was in the bag. When I open the bag, there was no flan. I went back inside to tell them that it was missing, the young man at the register asked where the food was, and I told him my husband was already outside eating; with great hesitation I was given the flaw that I had paid for. My husband's burrito was OK not great better the first time. I wanted a tostada and the young man at the register said the ceviche was really good so I said OK. After about three bites, my mouth was literally on fire, and I was unable to eat it. This time my husband went inside because he was going to swap the tostada for a couple tacos. The same woman in Spanish started speaking about me, (she is Hispanic and we are caucasian. My husband speaks fluent Spanish and the woman did't know this all the while calling me a liar and a thief. This enraged my husband. The woman would not give him the ceviche refund nor would she give him a couple tacos. my husband asked her to please throw it away in front of him so he knew it was in the trash. With great hesitation, the young finally threw it away. It was beyond consumption and should have been refunded no problem. After checking with the health department and the local county clerk, we have learned that they have been involved with lawsuits and health violations. I have never been to an establishment where I was questioned about my order or called a liar and a thief. We spent $32 there and literally the only thing we could eat was the burrito that my husband got and the flan. The flan was OK but not outstanding for $4.50. The entire time we were eating outside after the flan and the tostada incident, the woman dressed in all black, watched our every move until we got up and left. My husband would not eat another bite of food, We both felt discriminated against and disappointed. We are somewhat new to the Concord area and we were excited to think that we had found our new place for Mexican food The way we were treated was completely unprofessional, unnecessary and extremely disappointing not to mention discriminated against. Ordered a pastor taco - Tastes great. It's the best thing here! Carne asada burrito - meat has zero seasoning. Does not taste like anything. Tortilla was wrapped badly and falls apart when eating. Not too appetizing. Torta carne asada - Pro's: arrived piping hot, presentation looked great and is a huge portion. The bread was fresh, soft and delicious. Cons: Carne asada was grey, tasteless with no seasoning at all. The beans were refried and runny. There was a very thick layer in the sandwich that was overwhelming. . It made the sandwich slippery and mushy. The other ingredients added were also wet and it was dripping with watery juice. The jalapeños were soft and not crunchy. Taste was not great. Pricy and a great disappointment. Worst Torta I have ever had :( Michelada - tajin rim, cucumbers and two shrimps. Drink was okay. The presentation was nice until looking closely, you notice one shrimp was half cleaned and split halfway on the vein but they didn't bother to remove the poop. The other shrimp was not even deveined. You can see the lines. I removed the unclean part to try one and left the other behind. Steak fries carne asada - same flavorless meat. No comment from son who ate part of it. Salsa bar - provides complimentary chips. The lighter red salsa tastes vinegary or hint of possibly overripe tomatoes or spoiled. Green salsa is light in taste. Pickled potatoes were mixed with onions and carrots/jalepenos that were soft and not even crisp or crunchy. The darker salsa was a bit smokier, limes and beets were good. Expensive meal total was $66 for far below average quality of food. Left unhappy. Tips: I heard the pupusas were good. Stick with this and the Al pastor tacos only. Do not get carne asada, shrimp, burritos or tortas. Ambiance: nice Mexican music Service: the cashier interaction was lackluster. Didn't look thrilled to take your order or to even be there. Don't remember her even smiling. The better reviews here are obviously meant for the Pleasant hill location. Not here. After reading the actual reviews, I'm appalled. Especially the post about the moldy food. That explains everything. Good bye. read more

Ok the only reason why I ordered from here is because GrubHub had a great deal for Taco Tuesday. The tacos were only $1.50 each and you could choose from a variety of different kinds. For that kind of deal I ordered about 15!! I had the BBQ pork, carnitas, pork in green sauce and chicken with red sauce. These are small street tacos but you get full after about three. The tacos were basic, and included cilantro, onions, and your choice of meat. The meat was a bit on the drier side but the ones that came with sauce helped moisten the meat. It also included a little bag of chips, green and red salsa. Would I go back if it wasn't Taco Tuesday.... Nah... but I am already thinking about next Tuesday. read more

Glad to have tried this place in the Park and Shop location of willow pass rd in concord. Had the order delivered by doordash and it was very much worth it. You get a side of chips and salsas free when you spend $5. Ordered a 2nd order since multiple dishes ordered. The revuelta papusa is semi un traditional since it was only pork and cheese. No beans. But the size is huge! It filled the bottom of the to-go container. Was very surprised at its size as most others are smaller. The carnitas taco was good. Could have had the pork slightly crispier which is just my preference but it had good flavor and was not fatty. Served with Pico instead of green salsas like most others. I added green salsa to it from the salsas provided to give it more kick. Only got a few bites into the burrito but it had great flavor. Going to be great for leftovers. An excellent restaurant serving a variety of items from burritos to papusas. I got a flan and the papusa plate and I was super impressed. I listened to a podcast where a famous actor from Concord was talking about his favorite restaurants and he mentioned Los Gallos. I was walking around looking for another place, ran across this Los Gallos Express on accident and had to try it out. Super delicious and big portions. The chips and salsa bar was the best I can recall in my life. $8 minimum purchase required to eat the chips and salsa. You can get full off the chips and salsa bar alone. I'll be back. The lady packed each filling separately and wrote the type on the container so I knew what fillings were inside. She packed them all in a bag with curtido and tomato sauce. Perfect! The restaurant had videos of their food being prepared. So while you wait to order or sit while waiting for your order, you can see how they make ceviche or chips or bionicos, etc. Their burritos are also delicious. This review is for the Taqueria at the 1747 Willow Pass Rd. location. Walked inside, no line at the counter, and ordered a burrito to-go after exchanging pleasantries with the lady at the register. She told me what the final total would be, showed me a screen with that same amount on it, but then after I paid I noticed an additional $0.44 service fee had been tacked on. There was no mention of a service fee anywhere next to the register and this order was a to-go order, so it's not like any additional service was needed. Out of curiosity, I sat at the table closest to the register and watched as the next person placed an order that cost much less than mine but he was not charged a service fee. Same with the person after that. The burrito was disappointing. There's really no other way to put it, it lacked flavor despite having all the ingredients in it. The only reasons I gave this place two stars instead of one was the turnaround time was fast (I needed to make a BART train) and I didn't get food poisoning. I waited for about 5 mins and the lady came out and handed me a burrito, not a burrito bowl like I wanted. When I told the cashier lady that, that's not what I ordered. She wasn't nice about it, told me in a really rude tone, that she didn't charge me for a burrito bowl and that's not what I ordered. Regardless of whose wrong or right this is no way to treat a customer. I bet if I was white and not Mexican she would have had no issue fixing my order. But it's like they say in our culture. Here are my Pros and Cons on Los Gallos Express. Pros: 1. Nothing, absolutely nothing urlty nothing! Cons: 1. Unpleasant taste of meats and chicken; they seemed old and had a reheated, microwave-like flavor. My friend's steak and chorizo were particularly terrible, indicating the use of old ingredients. 2. Personal experience of my friend getting food poisoning; despite advising him to stop eating due to an off taste, he continued and ended up vomiting with digestive issues and getting the major "Shits"! 3. Frequent errors in getting orders wrong, and there seems to be a lack of concern about accuracy. 4. Incomplete orders; had to repeatedly request missing items, providing the receipt as evidence. Staff even returned to our table to check if we had received the correct items. In conclusion, I will not be returning to Los Gallos Express. The quality of the food was subpar, with questionable handling of ingredients. I find it perplexing that some people regard it positively. Across the street, there is a much nicer Taqueria that serves far superior Fajitas. Overall, my experience at Los Gallos Express was disappointing and not worth a repeat visit. read more

Oh no. No no no. Originally I was gonna give this two stars, but I've bumped it down to one because the food even made my dog sick! I ordered the super burrito with chicken, and the chicken was terrible. It was seasoned fine, but the quality of the chicken was really bad and made me sick. I had stomach problems the entire night and following day.... I won't elaborate. I asked for grilled chicken which is what I usually get everywhere, but this chicken looked boiled and not at all the type of chicken that is prepared for a burrito or taco. There were bits of chicken that had fat and tendon pieces attached, it did not look cleaned or prepared well for a burrito. I tried picking most of it out, but apparently still got sick over it. I gave my dog a piece of chicken, nothing out of the ordinary, and she got diarrhea! Absolutely not OK. Their other menu items might be good, but you can't call yourself a good establishment if only part of your menu is edible. read more

Another great installment of this small Mexican food chain! I'm a big fan of the Taqueria Los Gallos chain, and this location is no different. I'm usually within an equal distance of about 3 of their locations, but I like this one because it's conveniently located within Park n' Shop. I frequent this shopping area a lot, and it's nice to be able to stop here for lunch or dinner. This location is probably the smallest one that I've been to, but it's still clean and the service is still good. I'm obsessed with their salsa bar and chips. Their pico de gallo is my absolute favorite and I usually load up on that bad boy. It always feels like I never have enough of those damn salsa containers! Their other salsas are good too (I also really like their green salsa), but their pico just stands out above the rest. Prices have increased over the years, but it's still reasonable when you compare them to the other Taquerias in the area. It's not the most authentic tasting Mexican food that I've ever had, but it's still damn delicious. I love that they use a crispy taco bowl for their taco salads here. Many places just throw it in a styrofoam container and call it a day, but they really know how to hook it up here. Of course my favorite thing to get here are their red sauce enchiladas. I've always adored their red sauce. Their crispy tacos are good too but I hate that they put the guac and sour cream all over the shell making it all soggy. Never understood why they did that, but it's still good. All in all, it's a solid spot for some good Mexican food within the Park n' Shop. I'll always be a fan of this place. read more
