Our server was ok. Kept asking if we wanted anything else but when we were trying to pay he was nowhere to be found. I will say that the ambiance was oddly dark for evening. Didnt love that. The margarita flight was decent. I enjoyed the hibiscus one. Chips were fine but the salsa was terrible. Tasted like tomato sauce- very white people salsa. Just bad. Im not sure if i would come back. My friend brought me here when I came into town and I have nothing but positive things to say. The location itself was very big and very clean - nice welcome to Texas. The restaurant is very dimly lit - could be nice for a date night, girls night, business meeting, etc. Very versatile setting with great food. The chips and salsa here are complimentary and quite addicting. You can't just take one bite!! Right off the bat, we were off to a good experience. We didn't have any cocktails since I had to be up early the next day but as a Coke drinker, the Coke products were a plus and the ice/cup ratio made the drink very enjoyable. We ordered queso as a starter which was a nice portion for two of us. I then ordered the Skirt steak, which was another nice portion and had some tasty sides. My friend got the enchiladas which also came with some sides and everything we got was priced well and was filling. We also got the elote style street corn as a shareable and it was quite yummy. We started off with cheese dip, salsa, and guacamole. The salsa and guac were a bit too spicy for my liking, but the cheese dip was really good. For my entrée, I had the lump crab enchilada. My dental office is very small , we consist of 5 and we make it work. For this year's holiday party we attended Pinstack and Mexican Sugar for the happy hour late lunch . Our server was amazing, he recc chips and salsa before we could even say anything told us about the most popular happy hour drinks and appetizers and we enjoyed. The tacos and the chimicut sauce ... I was in town for work and thanks to good ol' Yelp, stumbled on Sugar. And I really enjoyed my visit. I dined in for dinner on a random weekday and easily found room at the bar for myself. The space itself was beautifully lit up with the bar taking all the attention, rightfully so. I noticed some outdoor seating was available but I'll never pass up a seat at the bar. After living down the street from this restaurant for years we had discussed stopping by but they were always so busy we usually didn't have the patience to wait. One night a few months back we decided to give it a try and were pleasantly surprised. They were able to seat us pretty quickly on a Friday night around 8pm despite being very busy. We sat outside with some heaters which were perfect- and we still had a view directly into the kitchen. They call themselves a scratch kitchen and everything seemed very fresh. Our waitress was not the most attentive, which is why I knocked off a star. She seemed to specifically avoid us while stopping at all the tables around us. But the food was still pretty good. Everyone has an off night. I got a lemonade that tasted fresh squeezed, one of the best I have had. We shared some queso- very tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The salsa was good too, but not as good as some other places but thats just our opinion. My husband got the fish tacos, he debated the fajitas - and said he probably chose wrong- but they were still really good he said- clean and not greasy. I got brisket tacos with double rice instead of beans. I enjoyed the rice even though it was very cilantro-limey. For about $50 we were very filled up and enjoyed this restaurant. It was filled with squash blossoms and nopales, giving it a great crunch and flavor. They give you complimentary chips and yummy salsa. The unique part about the salsa is that it's warm!! We also asked for a spicy salsa and was brought the mango habanero which was delightful for all you spice lovers. For our meal we enjoyed the pork chop and the veggies that came with it were def the highlight as well. The enchiladas were so yummy and we switched out rice and beans as your typical sides for a hearts of palm salad and some street corn. Best decision ever!! I loved the salad, it was crunchy and a perfect palate cleanser to all the yummy flavors. Plus the corn went better with our meal than just typical rice and beans. Can I please give this place a 6 please?!?! Came here on Saturday night on a whelm around 9:00pm. I'm not from the area so when me and my family pulled up I didn't know what to expect. They are regulars and said they wanted to take us to one of their favorite spots in the area and I see why! When we walked in it felt like you were in a lounge. But the crown jewel that aligned all of the pieces was drumroll, Keni! Keni was our server and she was our concierge and captain that navigated our cullunary voyage. We were a group of 4 (2 couples) and she recommended each person a spot-on dish that magically spoke to our souls. Not a hyperbole, just emphasizing a point. Keni demonstrated a server that was intimately familiar with the menu to make direct recommendations. However, I would be remiss if I didn't give props to the chef and sous-chefs! Each of our dishes were maticulously prepared to near perfection. But the sinfully delicious course that's bringing us back for more is the Bone-In Pork Chop!
