This restaurant never fails! Hadn't been in awhile for no particular reason! We were seated pretty quickly for Friday evening. It was getting crowded. We sat on the patio. Our server was nice. The food didn't take long at all. I had sea bass salad with citrus salad. The bass was cooked good and flavorful. Very light! I had the sina colada which was non alcoholic. It was ok. I will definitely come back!

What a beautiful restaurant! If you're looking for a cute date night or even a girls dinner, this is the place to go. The lighting is moody, and on the darker side and the restaurant itself is large but it gets so busy that it does feel tight when walking around. We attended a private party in one of the rooms, which was closed off from the rest of the restaurant. Overall a great space for the ~37 people and even a space open for a guitarrist. The room itself did get a little warm and dark, but it was a very intimate feel. The acoustics was definitely a little rough, since we weren't able to hear each other very well with the noise from the rest of the party or when the doors opened and the rest of the restaurants noise filtered in. Service for the most part was not bad, refills had to mainly be requested since they stopped quickly by each table and rather than check with everyone it was a "refill?" and quickly walk away. Bar orders from the servers went a lot more smoothly. The food was not bad, to be expected for the area. We had great chips and salsa with queso and guacamole to start. You honestly can't go wrong. The cesar salad was okay and the enchiladas were not too bad. I was a huge fan of the refried black beans and my husband was a huge fan of the cilantro lime rice. The steak in the enchiladas were a little too well done and another party goer had some chicken fajita that the knife would not cut through because it was so overcooked. Overall the food was okay. This is definitely a vibes and drinks place

We recently dropped by on a Monday night. We were seated immediately since it was not as busy as it on the weekend. We started out with The Queso Flamado. It was a great presentation being torched at the table side, It was a little heavy and oily and I prefer the Regular Queso. We also got the Tequila Shrimp Salad. For an entree, I got the Mesquite Grilled Beef Enchiladas. The Salad and the Enchiladas were tasty. We also got The Corn Elote. It just the right amount of cream and paprika. The Yucca Fries were the perfect level of crispiness. For dessert, we got The Flan and The Churros. You can't beat the Churros with all the different dipping sauces. The ambience is casual upscale but you will be fine wearing jeans there. We will definitely come back.

Sat at the bar for dinner by myself while staying at a nearby hotel. They had so many employees behind the bar and running around the restaurant. Everyone I interacted with was great and took care of me. The margarita was delicious and the chips and salsa were unique. The salsa was a warm salsa and more like a mole than a traditional salsa. The enchiladas were large and pretty good but nothing special. The side of elote was also large and I couldn't even finish it. It was full of flavor and the perfect side to go with my meal. The restaurant was packed with a huge line outside waiting but the bar had plenty of open seats. I would come back for sure.

We had a delightful experience at Mexican Sugar. We were a party of 13 and they were ready to go at our reservation time. The table was large enough and the space comfortable. This restaurant is really large and it was packed on a Wednesday night but they did a great job managing it all. Our server was efficient. She wasn't the friendliest server I've ever experienced but she was consistent and everything came out as expected. The food itself was very good and there were good portion sizes. Would definitely return.

This was my first time coming to Mexican Sugar, and it did not disappoint! We visited on a Thursday at 8 PM and were seated right away. The decor is pretty and gives off an upscale vibe. There also seemed to be a private room, not sure if it's available for event reservations. And the service was super quick and friendly. The spicy marg was nothing special in my opinion, but still good. My sister ordered the horchata with a shot of vodka, which I thought was a fun little twist. For my meal, I ordered the roasted chicken enchiladas, and they were delicious! The green rice that it came with was incredibly flavorful. There's a large parking lot right in front of the restaurant. Overall, I greatly enjoyed my first visit here and would totally come again! I highly recommend!

This location is always solid. Friday night birthday dinner. Warm, bustling vibe. Service terrific. Onto food - Chips, salsa, queso yummy. Entrees from chicken mole enchiladas (heads up these are spicy) to birria tacos to chicken entree to crab enchiladas all delicious. Cilantro rice super tasty. Our server brought out a birthday flan with candle to help us celebrate. Also the sena colada was very nice.

I love tacos. I'm like a dragon, that way. They are the perfect food! Hands down my favorite are fish tacos, but man, more often than not they are LAME. I once went somewhere where they stuck fish sticks in a tortilla. I came here specifically for the fish tacos. I liked that they weren't just using tilapia and they weren't fried. They are also not holding out on the fish! These tacos were beautiful. And tasted better than they looked. I did need to ask for some salt, adobo is not salted and it needed just a bit. But dang. They were great. Also, homemade corn tortillas. I have been missing out on this place. The beans and rice were very flavorful and I love that they came with black beans. I also had a margarita that was fresh and not too sweet. The salsa was hot, as in temperature not spice. That isn't my favorite, but it had good flavor. The service was just ok. The atmosphere is beautiful. It has been a week and I am still thinking about these tacos. There were lots of things that looked good on the menu, and one day I may try them, but I guarantee the next time I go I will go again for the fish tacos.

There are multiple locations and this was my first time at Mexican Sugar. The restaurant is pretty big and ambience is nice. It is on the darker side. They start you off with chips and warm salsa which is flavorful. If you want more spice ask for their habernero salsa. I got cheese enchiladas and substituted it with mole sauce. I was warned by the server that is it spicy and people have returns the dish due to spice. It was indeed very spicy but good. A little clover heavy than your usual. I did have to ask for a little queso on the spice to take the spice. Sour cream drizzle was missing from my mole enchiladas which would have helped. Drinks are great and they have a margarita flight! We were a group of ten and I saw other large parties. Our waiter was great and quick (forgot his name). Great place for big groups or date night but can be a little loud.

"These are the best fajitas I've ever had." My husband is obsessed with this restaurant. First time, and we had no issue getting a table on a Saturday night even though it looked the parking lot was FULL. It seems like it's always pretty full so don't let that deter you. The complimentary chips and hot salsa are so addictive. Salsa served warm was a new experience for me and it's far superior. It has a little marinara taste and I'm assuming cheese in it? There's a stringy part of the salsa. 10/10. I had pescado tacos and my husband had the steak and chicken fajitas. The tacos were ok - a little fishy and the pieces of fish were HUGE so there is no way I could finish 3. I wouldn't get them again but if you're a die hard fish person, you'll like them. The fajitas were fantastic. Meat was great and the steak was grilled perfectly. Very nice upscale Mexican restaurant with dim lighting and great for groups or a 2 person dinner.

Stopped in here for dinner after a soccer game. The cocktails were fantastic and had great presentation. The enchiladas were seasoned well. The server was upbeat and answered our questions. The a/c was on overdrive so our daughter was a little chilly but even so, we would come here again.

We hosted a company Christmas party at this location this year. The crew did an excellent job serving us! Everyone enjoyed their dishes as well. First class margaritas, fajitas, everything was outstanding! We may do this again next year. Thank you!

The menu leans Mexican fusion, with standout seafood and steak options across the board. One of my personal favorites is their sea bass special with pineapple reduction. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Via Real has a dedicated parking lot and valet parking - this is a sign of an upscale restaurant. Inside, it's a beautiful restaurant (currently decorated for Christmas). There's a dedicated bar in the back, the tables are perfectly set, and the vibe exudes an upscale feel. 1 Star. Service - Upon entering, you're greeted with a smiling hostess to assist. Since I was here for an event, they walked me to the appropriate room. Via Real has dedicated rooms for events, and we had a dedicated staff member who made sure we had drinks in hand. All requests were taken care of. They were fast, accommodating, and professional. 1 Star. Food - Via Real specializes in Southwestern cuisine. It's not Mexican or Tex-Mex, but if you're fans of that cuisine, you'll find familiar flavors. My events had several items, but my favorite were the individual nachos. Instead of a shared platter, a single (large) tortilla chip is topped with chicken or beef and oven-melted cheese. It felt more like bite-sized appetizers than traditional nachos. At the bar, I enjoyed a decaf cappuccino and creamy caramel flan. You can eat at the bar, but there are also tables you can sit at. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. Via Real is in my neighborhood and has been in Irving-Las Colinas as long as I can remember (mid 90's). If you are ever in the area, make sure you stop by. 1 Star.

Living in Sioux Falls has many positives, but distinct and deeply flavorful Mexican cuisine is unfortunately still something that's a little harder to come by compared to places like Arizona or Texas. So, we made it a point to stop at Lupe Tortilla while passing through Irving. The first thing we noticed was how packed the restaurant was during lunch. People were pouring in steadily, and the atmosphere had that energetic local favorite feeling where you know people come because they genuinely enjoy the food. Thankfully, the meal itself delivered. Now, was it the absolute best Mexican food I've ever had? No. But it was still leagues beyond most of what we've experienced lately back home in South Dakota. The carne asada especially stood out. The portion was massive, tender, and packed with smoky, savory flavor. You could immediately tell it had actually spent some time on a grill instead of simply being rushed out of a kitchen. We also enjoyed the tacos, enchiladas, and burritos, all of which had that comforting Tex-Mex richness and seasoning that we've really missed. Unfortunately, we were on a fairly tight travel schedule and couldn't linger the way we would have liked. Honestly, this felt like the sort of place where you could easily sit awhile longer, enjoy another drink, sample more dishes, and just soak in the lively atmosphere. On a more positive note, the chili con queso was good, and the frozen strawberry margarita was both tasty and generously sized. Service was friendly, but we were given multiple chip refills without being asked, while the salsa and beans that come with them were never replenished, which felt a bit unbalanced. The restaurant had a lively atmosphere and was on the louder side, which made it a little difficult at times to hear our server. (English down below)…read more Saliendo del aeropuerto DFW, busqué algún restaurante que tuviera sopa de mariscos; no sé de dónde vino el antojo. Digo yo... no sé. Mejorar estos dos detalles llevaría la experiencia en El Viejón a otro nivel. ¡El Viejón, recomendadísimo! ------------------------------------- Leaving DFW airport, I found myself craving seafood soup--no idea where the craving came from. I searched for nearby options and El Viejón came up. I checked the online menu and reviews, then drove 13 minutes, only to discover a real gem. What I loved: The service was excellent. Nidia took care of us--she was not only kind, but also attentive and efficient. Adolfo, the manager, is a great guy. The simple but important things: Their plastic cups are surprisingly original. The menu is simple and humorous. Prices are fair for the generous portions they serve. What truly impressed me: The seafood soup. This kind of soup is simple: either you know how to make it, or you don't--and when you don't, it ends up like the one at Pappadeaux... something to cry about. This one, however, is loaded with seafood (crab, clams, octopus, fish, shrimp, squid, etc.). It has a subtle sweetness, and you can taste every distinct note. Highly recommended. One soup is more than enough for one person. I learned that lesson too late--after also ordering the grilled octopus. I had to get it to go because it was simply too much food. My only two complaints: The tostadas they serve come with chicken that looks like tuna but tastes like plastic. My dog was with me and wouldn't even eat it--which says a lot. Very strange. The other issue is the music: too loud and all from the same genre. If the goal is to honor Mexican culture, there are so many genres to choose from. Just saying--I don't know. Fixing these two things would take the experience at El Viejón to another level. El Viejón--highly recommended.

A second, dine-in visit provided more reasons NOT to return than to return:…read more - Prices for most things are far too high when considering location and ambiance--I mean we're not talking "fine dining". - Margarita prices are very vague and I was passed a "tequila menu" to choose from. Confused, I chose one of the cheaper options only to find out after getting bill that my margarita was $18.95! Is this Via Real?!? If so, take some lessons from them on how to make a quality margarita since this one was not $18.95 material. - 3% service charge over posted prices for using a credit card. Didn't realize that on last visit. You do that, you're telling me you never want me to return. Food was good. Just not THAT good. I will say that the entree I received was large enough for 2, which would have made the $27.50 more reasonable. But if that's the intent, mention it on the menu. But I'm not sharing a nearly $25 margarita (after tax, tip and service charge).
