So no pictures this time around but I'll do a second one when we come back! Refried beans were perfect! I've been looking for real Mexican food all over Rhode Island as an LA Mexican food lover! The Al pastor tacos were amazing and the customer service was just as good! Great selection of drinks and tequila if you're a tequila person like me or if you like beer like my husband, they have that too. Very chill and welcoming vibe here! I'm not a Rhode Island native so I didn't know the history of this location but I will say I'm happy to finally have found a delicious taco place for my family and I to come back to!!! read more

Alright, new mexican spot.. I'm picky with Mexican. Being picky, this place was solid. It gets the biggest marks for portions. I didn't leave hungry. Another gold star for being good for a larger party if you need a spot for that and they have a good variety of house specials on the menu along with your typical burritos and tacos. I went with the Buritto Caliente. "Spicy and hot burrito! Filled with chicken, beef, and rice covered with tomatillo sauce and pork in green tomatillo sauce, garnished with lettuce and pico de gallo". I was a little underwhelmed with this thing in terms of texture. I would have loved some beans to be in the burrito (no beans? What the heck?) and also would have loved some avocado and sour cream. This thing was dang spicy and the fat would have helped temper it a little and also add some nice textures. The beef was ground beef and chicken was shredded. So mix that with rice and it was all kind of "mush". That said, I got very full. The service was friendly and attentive. The in-laws aren't quite foodies and love themselves some Mexican American food, it hit all marks for them. My wife got a giant burrito bowl and she liked hers, good portion and a lot of protein. I'd likely go with the bowl next time myself. Not exactly an upscale spot, but great for a casual dinner with some friends or family. First time going to Mexico City, taco and tequila, my girlfriend has been here a few times and recommended, I really enjoyed the guacamole and everything that was served, everything was fresh made to order fantastic, the bartender was an awesome gentleman, explained everything on the menu quick to serve your drinks smiling great attitude made us feel very welcome. Started dinner with chips and salsa (not complimentary) salsa was tasty just had a little kick. I got the combo with two chicken enchiladas and one beef taco. The chicken and the beef had absolutely no flavor. I tried to put the refried beans in them to help but they barely had flavor too. For dessert we ordered the churros, they tasted old and stale. Our waitress was very inattentive, had to ask another waiter to get her multiple times. Overall not a good experience. read more

A good first experience! The menu reminds me a lot like Cantina Del Rio, a restaurant in Warwick that sadly closed. The queso and salsa are almost identical to what I used to order at Cantina. Chips and Salsa are not free, but you can do a guac, salsa, and queso combo. I got Fajitas and unfortunately the steak was too tough to chew, but the flavor of the peppers and onions were delicious. We also ordered a chimichanga which came smothered in queso and that was delicious. I definitely plan to go back, but I would avoid the steak next time as it is more expensive and the quality is definitely not worth it. read more

This place can be hoppin. My husband and I have been here twice, this Saturday it was busy. They have great drinks, and the food is amazing. This time I asked for real hot sauce, because I like it spicy! The waitress brought me some habanero sauce - yes it was hot, but went well with my fajita chimichanga. The beans were delicious but were a different consistency, as I normally get. I mixed the rice and beans and added the hot sauce - that was amazing! I love the sugar skulls everywhere. I hate writing this because when I went in early January it was really good and the service was amazing. That is why we went back last night. Unfortunately it was a big disappointment. There was no wait and the restaurant was busy. I ordered the large margarita. It tasted good but three quarters of the glass was ice. We actually poured a small margarita into the large glass and it filled it exactly the same. That honestly felt like a scam. We also paid for chips and salsa and the salsa tasted like plain tomato sauce. The biggest issue was the food taking over an hour to come out. Everyone around us was waiting too. Our waiter never apologized or even acknowledged the delay. When the food finally arrived the beans were cold and everything else was just alright. We were seated and greeted by our waitress who offered us chips & salsa, which led us to believe they were complimentary, however when the bill came we realized they were not. The salsa is very mild and bland. My husband's dish came with sour cream, but he declined it. I requested extra sour cream, which they charged us for. They could have just called it a wash. Service could have been a bit better, our beverages were left empty for quite a while. The good: The steak in the burrito was seasoned very nicely and was good quality. I had a grilled chicken quesadilla, no complaints other than being charged extra for sour cream. The establishment is very clean, nicely decorated and welcoming environment. Authentic!! This place has a great modern feel. The Mexican music in the background makes the restaurant come alive. Not to mention the food selections are are new - authentic making the menu craveable to try. They were busy so the service was a little slow but eventually we got what we needed. That the queso dip and salsa isn't the best. But I don't go out to eat for chips and dip. The service is always spectacular. Everyone is always so friendly and welcoming. I had a mezcal paloma which I loved but just wow! For my entree I got the cochinita pibill and I've also had the birria tacos. You can tell they put a lot of love into their dishes. I live about two minutes from here. And I remember driving by the Dennis 1,000,000 times thinking well that's somewhere I won't be going. Finally, a restaurant that's worth visiting. I went with my daughter, and although I always go to very authentic South American and Mexican restaurants to eat. I wasn't sure about finding something out here in the suburbs of Cranston. To my surprise. It was a very authentic environment. Complete different from what I imagine. The clientele were predominantly, Hispanic, and the servers were great. To my great surprise, the food was wonderful. I had the mohara Frita which is one of my favorite things. Fried fish.!! We ordered the guacamole right in front of us. I had a Mello and my daughter loved her meal, and we had a great time. The price was reasonable, and we would definitely go back again and again and again. I new i recognized this joint when I saw menue items at a recently closed mexican place in warwick...cantina Del rio...same owners..lipstick on a pig. The service terrible.the food for what we ordered took over an hour to get to our table, the waiter was nowhere to be found and the food was horrible. I love Mexican food. I love to go out for it and I also cook it and I cook it well so I am critical of Mexican food. The food presentation wise looks great. However, quality did fall short. First of all any Mexican restaurants always has complementary chips and salsa so the fact that they don't and they charge here was the first turn off. We got tamales for an appetizer. They barely had anything inside them. It was mostly masa (which is the cornmeal). I ordered the taco sampler, it was pretty good, but a lot of the meat was burnt and overcooked. The big disappointment of the night was the Carne Asada plate. My husband usually orders his food well done, but he's been branching out and ordering medium well. His steak was literally rare. I will typically get my steak, medium rare. I couldn't even eat this because it was literally not cooked in the middle. The music was loud an awful, speakers bad. There appeared to be a manager walking around, she really should check in on tables and ask how everything is. read more

We really wanted try this establishment again after a not so great first experience. Tonight was a completely different. We were seated in Juan's section. He was phenomenal! He constantly checked in and asked us to let him know how everything tasted. We ordered the trio dips for an appetizer. Our oldest child ordered chicken fingers and fries, which looked fresh and she loved them. We each ordered enchiladas and they were delicious and similar to meals we had in Mexico. We also ordered drinks ranging from wine to tequila and they were spot on. Our second visit definitely changed our opinion. We will try them out again, but will certainly ask for Juan. I've tried many different mexican restaurants and in terms of "restaurant quality" this place was mediocre, better Mexican can be cooked at home without any experience. Birria tacos were extremely soggy and salty. Quesadilla was soggy and salty as well. The chicken al pastor was lacking flavor and tortilla was not toasted or heated at all. The Pork Belly tacos were sooo perfectly cooked. The absolute best I've ever had!!! The Tacos Gobernador had perfectly seasoned shrimp that made all the difference! I'm definitely coming back to try lengua and octopus next time! Happy to have stumbled here. read more

First, the good. The service and ambience are nice. That's about it. Now, the not so good. The seating is very cramped. Tables for 6 should be for 4, etc. The kitchen and the food are the problem. We ordered 2 appetizers and 4 entrees. All 6 dishes came out at once. I asked the waiter to please put the entrées under heat lamps for a few minutes so that we could enjoy our appetizers, but he said that the restaurant doesn't have any. So we put the entrees aside to get cold while we ate the starters. The steak nachos were pretty good and the farro esquites was OK. The entrees were less good. We ordered a kids cheese quesadilla, but it came out with chicken in it. We ordered two burrito bowls with shredded chicken, but instead it came out with grilled chicken. The lettuce base for the dish was washed but not dried, so the bowls were watery on the bottom. The chimichanga was fine but it was cold by the time anyone could get around to it. I think the waiter sensed our dissatisfaction. He didn't offer us dessert, but apologized for the courses coming out all at once. He said the cook was overwhelmed with the orders and just decided to make everything. The waiter was very nice, and the issues were not his fault. Just ordered take out here for the first time and WOW! WAY better than Chipotle, QDoba, or other similar "quick" meals. First, the menu and online ordering experience were easy and clear. Second, order updates were communicated by text, including my order pick up time (10 mins earlier than anticipated- hooray)! The two folks up front (3/4 around 7:10 were smiling, friendly faces! This definitely stood out as sometimes folks at other restaurants are on their own phones or seem annoyed someone showed up. I didn't catch their names but 10/10 friendly service! I ordered the quesadilla and added grilled onions. I also ordered the queso which was delicious!! Everything was a great temperature and texture, even when I got home. This is the first place out of about 30 mexican food restaurants that doesnt greet you with chips and salsa. That aside...first time was pretty good. The 2nd time ....it was a disaster. Wrong orders, wrong drinks, food at different times, I asked for a Tamale with my cozmuel combo and got a bean enchilada with Mole sauce. It turned into a let's just be nice, pay the bill and go. Nice place. Went for the first time tonight. The wait staff is very friendly and open. The food was good. I had the fajitas. $17. A tad bit salty but the bartender checked with the kitchen about the salt content. Said it's easy to order less salty. So next time... Yes, I will be back. The peppers and onions were a tad bit overcooked. So I'll ask for a bit less cooking next time. If you are in a rush, the food comes out very quickly. Not in a rush? Wait a bit to order.
