If you're looking for a break from Italian food on Federal Hill, this might be worth a try. My wife and i ate here midday Saturday (1/31) for a late lunch and had the place to ourselves. I'm often leery of empty restaurants but this was 3pm and it was pretty cold and tough to get around Atwells Ave with all the snow, so I'm guessing people weren't venturing out. There was a woman seated near the door and greeted us as we walked in, and offered us to sit wherever we preferred. The dining area is smallish with a bar, and is pretty casual. Reminded me (sort of made me nostalgic) for some of the more local watering holes in the Old San Juan neighborhood in Puerto Rico; a little gritty, but run by locals and feels authentic. Our Hostess/ server was very friendly and brought us chips and salsa immediately. She checked back in quickly for drinks and took our food order when she brought drinks over. I got some kind of mango lemonade (maybe sort of mocktail, i wanted something slightly sweet and refreshing), and we ordered the nachos and quesadillas to split. Both dishes were good, and either dish would have been enough to split as they were both good sized portions. With the two dishes, two soda waters and the mango lemonade, total was $49 before tip. We brought most of the quesadillas home and will get a second meal out of it, so didn't seem like a bad deal. They have Tuesday (tacos) and Wednesday (margaritas i believe) night specials that seem worth trying out if you're local to the area. read more

Food/Drinks: We came here to celebrate my father-in-law's birthday. The food was pretty good. I got the shrimp with avocado on tostones, which was tasty & a pretty good size portion. The drinks were also good, just not as strong as I expected. Location: This spot is located on Federal Hill, and I'd say it's definitely more on the casual side. For some reason, I thought it was a bit more dressy, but it's actually really laid-back. There's no valet parking, and since it's on a busy street, I'd recommend getting there a little early if you're trying to make it on time. Parking can be tricky, especially on busier days. When I found out about their $1 taco Tuesday deal, I went as soon as possible. It was late at night, there was outdoor seating, and it wasn't too busy so the ambiance was perfect. I tried one of each taco (chicken and carnitas) since I wasn't too hungry. I liked the chicken a little better, but both were very good. For $1, they give a good amount of meat. I want to start off by thanking the owner of the restaurant for allowing my brother and I to dine in. The restaurant had a closed sign and when we called they said that take-out was available. Just to add a little extra context; Providence, RI was experiencing its greatest snow storm in history and almost all restaurants and stores were closed. Once we got it, the owner politely greeted us and insisted that we just dine-in instead. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting. There was great authentic music playing as well. The menu also had quite a great selection as well. I ordered the Steak Ala Mexicana and my brother ordered the Chicharron Con Yuca. The food was amazing. They bring chips, and offer refills. However, only after receiving the bill do you find out the refills cost money. I would understand if that was the only thing being purchased, but I also bought an entree and three drinks. These are deceptive business practices. I do not recommend. The burrito was good, but not worth the nasty surprise. The salsa for the burrito also comes in a very small portion, and they surprised charged for more. Just be upfront with costs, so that consumers can make an informed decision. Particularly the chips, which were a particularly small portion and offered rather than requested. Lucia's is perfect for a girls night. Went to dinner there with my friends. We went on a Friday night they had karaoke. You got to wear a mariachi hat when you had the mike. The food is flavorful the drinks are . The waitresses and owner are super nice. They make you feel welcome. I got the veggie nachos and they did not disappoint. With a passion fruit margarita. I've Been to Lucia's on three ocasiones! Every ocasión has been good except the last one when we had my grandmothers dinner. By not so great I mean in service. Food is consistent and very good! I've had a few things on different occasions and posted some pics. All I can say if you try this place you gotta try something they make woth that Don Julio sauce! It's to die for! Tbey honestly. Two friends and I visited Lucia's on a particularly dreary Saturday afternoon. We went at a pretty strange time - around 4 PM. One waitress greeted us and seated us right away because there were only two other people in the restaurant. Both of my friends ordered tacos while I tried their chicken chimichanga. Very delicious. It came with black beans and Mexican rice. They also gave us chips and salsa before our entrees came out. I love the thickly cut chips they have... mm!! The margaritas looked so yummy. Alas... I am only 20 years old. We were in a bit of a rush because we were going to catch the bus to Providence Place mall. It took longer than usual to get our checks since there was only one waitress working + I noticed she was calculating the total prices and tax by hand. We still got out of there in time so no big deal. She was very nice to us and checked in with us one or two times. Overall, Lucia's was a great experience. Worst experience ever! So I wasn't sure on what to drink the waitress suggested the Paloma... so I ordered it! When it came out I took a sip and realized I didn't like it so I didn't drink it. When he finally came to the table after I eat my whole meal with no drink.. I told him I didn't like it and if I could grab me something else, and also that my friend had a fly in her food. He left to the kitchen to only come back and say that he can't take the Paloma off the bill because I am the one that ordered it. And also the fly that was in the food didnt come from the kitchen it must've came from the bar but still didn't offer her another meal that she barely ate or to take it off the bill. Located in the middle of Federal Hill, the authentic cusisine is a go to Mexican spot in Providence. The homemade salsa and chips are quick to the table. The nachos are a good portion and can serve as a meal. They had lots of flavor between the guac, meat, retired beans and salsa. Unfortunately the quesadilla didn't have as much flavor, very limited guac and pico de gallo and it probably wouldn't be ordered again, but looking forward to try other things on the menu. The food was delicious!! I am a vegetarian and they were very accommodating and even added extra roasted vegetables that were seasoned to perfection in my burrito. My boyfriend and I were looking for some good Mexican food and were directed to Federal Hill. Our first choice Don Jose's was closed, so we decided to go to our next option Lucia's. Upon sitting down and opening up our menus we realized we might've made a mistake. The whole menu is hazy looking pictures that show their food, and to be honest the taste is reflective. Beans and tomatillo sauce were watery, chimichanga was tasteless and the enchiladas were about the same. If that was authentic Mexican food I feel embarrassed for the country. Will not be back . Its new, and they are still getting their feet under them, but the staff was gracious and friendly and the food had some of its own highlights. The Margaritas, though not listed at all on the menu, were worth the trip alone. Solidly made, fresh bright citrus flavors and top shelf tequila in a cold, cactus stemmed glass. What's not to like. I wasn't as enthralled with the chips as some of the other diners, it may be that I missed getting a fresh batch, but the accompanying dish of salsa had a surprisingly fiery bite. Just the way I like it, and way hotter than the standard fare. The Camerones Martini made a big fan out of me. Its an appetizer, not a drink as the name might imply, served in stemmed Martini glass. Small, fresh shelled Shrimp are layered over Mexican rice and dressed in the juice from a lemon. Something of a Mexican shrimp cocktail, and quite enjoyable. An entree of Chicken Flautas were beautifully presented. Served drizzled with Sour Cream and shredded Lettuce, the fried tortilla wrapper had a very nice crunch, but the shredded Chicken filling was lifeless and dull. Tacos al Pastor were contrastingly served with great flavor, the chili rubbed Pork and fresh Cilantro showing well together. Unfortunately, the cubes of Pork still had a bit of a way to go before becoming soft and tender, and though cooked all of the way through, had a bit too much chew for my liking. There was talk about hosting a Mariachi Band Night. I am desperately hoping that it turns out to be true, sounds like a fun time to me. read more

Finally, some decent Mexican food in Providence! Ristorante Lucia just opened, and is well worth a visit. Everything is made fresh in house, and you can definitely tell they use quality ingredients. Even the margaritas were made one at a time and not from a gross mix. All the items we tried were top notch - enchiladas, carne asada, fajitas, chips and fresh salsa, pineapple sorbet - the pico de gallo and the refried beans are particularly tasty. Landed at the restaurant past 9 PM for dinner... When I walked in, there was no other customer at the restaurant and hence got timely attention from the server.. Nachos that was served were crisp but too thick for my liking... Salsa served with it was great... I ordered a Beef Enchilada which was pretty good - the quantity was more than sufficient for one person, plating was done well with a piece of Avocado on top of the salad and the Spanish Rice was very good as well... I opted for red sauce which meant that the dish was spicy enough.. Place is done up well... Saw a note which said that gratuity is added by default for groups that have more than 4 members... Menu had pictures of food which were not very clear.. If I have the craving to eat Mexican one more time during my stay here, may give it one more shot... read more
