We had a great meal here with excellent service from Wilson. The space is beautiful, the food is very good, and the staff are warm and friendly. The complimentary chips and salsa and El Presidente cocktail were a tasty start. I ordered the vegetarian fajitas, which were a real standout and served creatively on a lazy Susan turnstile, and my partner had the Carne Asada and really enjoyed it. At one point I accidentally bumped the table and spilled a drink, and the staff immediately cleaned it up and couldn't have been more gracious despite it being a busy Saturday night during a street festival. Overall really happy we finally tried Meximodo, this will be in our regular date night rotation moving forward! Great addition to the neighborhood. read more

I wanted to try this place for so long as it's just near to where I live. I'm not actually big on Mexican food, but after hearing so much about it, I finally a try when our Mexican food lover friend visited us and let me tell you, the hype is absolutely real. We started with the complimentary chips and salsa and ordered the Truffle street corn, golden cauliflower taco, salsa flight and sizzling Fajita platter. The highlight was definitely the corn as the truffle wasn't overpowering at it absolutely hit the spot!! The service was decent although our server was managing multiple tables at a time but I won't complain. The ambiance was really nice, and the hostess was very friendly and welcoming. Our waiter was also very nice, and the drinks were definitely a highlight, well-made and enjoyable. Unfortunately, the food was a letdown. As someone who really loves Mexican cuisine, I found the dishes underwhelming, and even the hot sauce was lacking in flavor and spice. The service around the food could have been better as well. When the food arrived, we didn't have enough room on the table, so we were scrambling to rearrange everything and make space. Rather than helping us, the server simply left, which was disappointing and made the experience feel less attentive. Overall, I'd come back for the drinks and ambiance, but I wouldn't return specifically for the food. Decided to finally try this contemporary restaurant that had lots of hype when it opened. The ambiance is beautiful. Well design led and unique interiors - dramatic lighting, heritage reflecting artwork, beautiful furniture and other decorative touches. The large central bar had a unique 'tower' of illuminated circular glass shelves displaying the many tequila and mezcal selections. We arrived late - only 45 min to closing - but they still accommodated us. The Host was very nice and waiter was pleasant and attentive. We quickly ordered the Pollo con Mole Poblano and Baja Crispy Fish Tacos as well as 2 cocktails - El Padrino and El Jefe. The cocktails were excellent!! Very well crafted and balanced. Not too weak and not too strong. The El Padrino was dramatic entertainment- it came out flaming!! The food was a bit disappointing. We have had many mole dishes in Mexico and here, in JCty. This one was not very flavorful at all and the sauce to meat proportion was small. The chicken was done well - moist and well seasoned but the 'blah-ness' of the sauce detracted. The tacos were actually quite good - lots of flavor and the batter was light and crispy. Considering the pricing of the entrees, it's not worth the spend. We will return, but probably just for the drinks and maybe appetizers so we can enjoy the beautiful space and bar. read more

I was soo excited to try this place out, so a few coworkers and I went there for dinner after work. We made a reservation so there wasn't a wait at all and as soon as we sat down our waitress came over to get us settled and offer us water and bring over with chips and salsa. Very attentive. We were eager and excited to try everything so we ordered a bunch of stuff. We ordered the guac plate, Citrus shrimp aguachile, pollo con mole poblano, enchiladas clasicas and the nayarit fire-grilled red snapper. The guac plate is a good size and very sharable. The shrimp aguachile was okay; i didnt enjoy it but everyone else did! The mole was good and the chicken was very tender. The red snapper was a filet and not the whole fish, which was disappointing and i do think it was very under seasoned. We also ordered drinks (sangrai and mango marg on the rocks and passionfruit marg) which were good. The place and vibe was cool but the food is over priced and just okay. I actually wanted to update my review. The first time I went, I ended up feeling sick afterward. I wasn't sure if it was from Meximodo, so I didn't mention it in my original review. However, I returned yesterday and unfortunately felt sick again shortly after eating. This time we tried the brunch taco tray, which I thought was a really cool concept. We ordered birria and steak tacos, and each order came with 3 tacos. We happened to get two orders of birria, which is why there are 6 in the photo, but you can mix and match however you'd like. I also want to mention that our waitress was amazing -- extremely kind, respectful, and attentive. The vibes and atmosphere are always great. My only complaint is that the food seems to upset my stomach. That said, just because it made me sick does not mean: A) the food wasn't tasty, because it definitely was, or B) that you'll have the same experience. This was simply my personal experience, and I genuinely hope others have a better one. I'll also add that while the food is good, there are many other Mexican restaurants out there that feel more authentic. read more

I was excited to learn that Meximodo opened in Jersey City and was eager to check it out since I loved my experience at the Metuchen location. The restaurant is just as beautiful as the original and has stunning decor. The cocktails tasted fantastic, and I loved that the menu lists choices by flavor profile. The La Chicharrita Spritz was outstanding--the perfect mix of sweet, bubbly, and bold. My friends raved about the Cocolada, another standout cocktail that was rum-based with pineapple juice and lime. I had the al pastor tacos, which were delicious, while my friends had the chicken tinga, barbacoa, and Baja fish tacos. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food, and our sides of yuca fries and plantains were also big hits. For dessert, we ordered churros, which came with dulce de leche and chocolate sauce. The churros were hot and crunchy, and the sauces paired perfectly. Our service was pretty good, though it felt a bit rushed even though the restaurant wasn't overly crowded for a Friday night. Was so excited for this place to open in JC and even more excited to finally come by and check out what they had to offer ! The margarita was amazing -- they give you a choice of tequilas you want and different flavors. Mango was a++++. Really wanted elote but didn't want to to deal with corn in my teeth so we settled on the croquetas which was amazing and different. Had the chicken enchiladas as an entree and whewww. Usually I don't finish my main because I'm already so full but this !! I finished the entire plate. The sweet plantains they had to offer were so different from what I'm used to as it was dressed with crema and cheese and goodness-- the sweet and savoryness of it was such a pleasing experience. We live in Jersey City so decided to stop into Meximodo to try it out. We had reservations for 7:00pm on a Monday night and were seated right away. First the pros: the decor and ambiance was great. The place is really large, so you can fit a lot differnt party sizes. The drinks were really good - highly recommend their signature cocktails. The food was also pretty good. The standouts were the elote street corn and the scallop ceviche. The queso fundito was also quite good. The cons: service was basically non-existent. Our waiter came over to take our drink and appetizer order and we never saw him again. We had already finished all our appetizers before he came back again. We did end up ordering some tacos and then he proceeded to disappear again until we had to tell someone else we would like to order dessert. After dessert, it took another 15-20 minutes before we were able to flag him down to get the check, which took him another 15 minutes to get. I think if my in-laws were in town, I would probably take them to Meximodo since they love Mexican food. But I don't think I'll be back on my own. read more

This place was disappointing from the moment that I stepped in. The host, Leisha ignored me. I was standing there waiting (with a reservation) and she started to help other guests. When I finally was helped-I was seated at a tight table between two other parties. I asked to be moved. I ordered the chicken and waffles. The server did not know how the chicken was prepared (breast, thigh, etc) and had to ask, but outside of that he was very attentive. The chicken was tasty, but the waffles were cold-I didn't bother sending it back because it just would have delayed brunch. The cocktails were good. I wouldn't come here again. Visited Meximodo in Jersey City as it seemed to open up fairly recently. I heard of their location in Metuchen, but hadn't had the chance to make it out there before. Got there before 6pm on a Saturday and it was humming. Couldn't even get a table seating, but fortunately got a couple barstools. The place is huge too. There's an entire second floor of seating. In Jersey City, it's hard to find restaurants as big as this. First off, the cocktail menu is quite impressive. More importantly, I was surprised with the number of spicy margaritas available. I went with the Tanteo Chipotle.... and the kick was amazing. More importantly, it came in such a huge glass so I got my money's worth. My fianceé ordered the El Encanto which also tasted pretty good. We noticed the vegetarian menu was quite expansive. We split the Croquetas de Elote as an appetizer and enjoyed it. We then split two main items. The mushroom enchiladas were great. However, we found that the Cauliflower El Pastor missed the mark. The cauliflower was cooked (as it was soft), but it wasn't hot. It was kinda cold/lukewarm. We couldn't really eat it and was disappointed with that. The flan for dessert saved the lackluster cauliflower fortunately. Otherwise, all in all a 4 star review from me. Don't let the 5 star reviews convince you otherwise, Meximodo is just mid, across the board. Cool decor and vibe, but that's where the good review ends. Been three times, hoping it'll improve but simply not the case. For the price ($130 for two adults and a child, no alcohol), you'd expect a decent meal. Tacos consistently lack flavor, the apps have always missed. Tonight, was excited to try the mole chicken "poppers" - it was just 6-7 soggy cooked chicken bites drenched in a mole sauce with ranch dressing, that's it. Also, $14 for kids menu items I feel like is a bit of a price gouge and almost none of the rest of the menu is a generally good fit for a toddler. So sharing family style not an option. Half a dozen hostesses standing behind the desk when you walk in and it still takes a minute or two to even be acknowledged, even when you're standing right in front, and another few minutes (every time) to get seated, no matter when your reservation was for. There's just nothing special about it - tries to be high end, but doesn't execute on the food or service. I've left unimpressed wondering why I've come back every time. I must say I am extremely disappointed with this place , I really expected a better experience, so here is how it went : Made reservations because I didn't know how busy they would be since it was a Saturday night . I explained that I'd like to sit at the bar , she said we still had to wait to be seated ( why ?) I never heard of a place that you need to be seated if you just going to stay at the bar . Once we were seated I asked the bartender Angie if she had a list / menu for tequila and agave since they are know to have the biggest variety, her answer to me was : what do you mean a menu ? So I had to explain and she actually went to ask someone else if there was a menu and then comes back and tells me to scan the QR code on the food menu . Once I chose my tequila she seemed to be a bit confused looking for it , asking other bartenders , so I showed her a picture of the bottle and her response was : yeah I know . ( didn't seem like it ) since she was asking others . So that wasn't a pleasant experience , BUT wait , it doesn't end there :( The menu : pretty much EVERYTHING on it is SPICY !!! I know it's a Mexican restaurant , however not everyone likes or can eat spicy food . Not to mention the menu is very poor and doesn't have a big variety . I asked for the steak and cheese tacos since it was the 1% option on the menu without a little hot pepper () , because I am allergic to spicy food . We also ordered the Baja Fish taco and a side of yucca fries . I had to repeat the order 3 times because Angie said the description on the menu is different from the description on her machine ( also with an attitude ). That makes no sense , the menu needs to be the same . The steak tacos and Baja taco's were served And there was no sign of the yucca fries , after 5 minutes I had to actually ask someone for it . The steak taco was so spicy I could only eat half of it ( remember , this was one of the few items on the menu without a little pepper next to it ) and yet was spicy . The fish on the fish taco and the yucca fries were definitely over fried , so not exactly very good . A gentleman named Marcos came to ask us if everything was ok and we explained our concerns to him with the poor information on the menu etc . He then said he was bringing us a shot of tequila which never happened . So much for customer service . They do have a huge variety of tequila that literally goes all the way up to the ceiling , however there's a ladder for bartenders to climb and it look extremely dangerous , specially if they will be going up and down while holding a bottle . The decor is absolutely stunning and definitely high end . However menu is basic and way too spicy . Hostess and bartender could definitely use a customer service class . A true gem arrived to Jersey City! We've visited Meximodo in Jersey City several times with colleagues since it opened in Fall 2025, and each experience has been wonderful. The drinks and food are delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented, and the service is consistently polite and friendly. And what truly puts it all together is the gorgeous décor and thoughtful layout, which create a warm, elegant, and elevated ambiance that feels really awesome. This place is HUGE! They've got some huge Cocktails as well. I'm told that they just opened. So the place looks fresh! They've got a few different areas. I wonder whether or not they put the families with children on one side vs. the areas on the opposite end or top floor. In any case, Meximodo was bustling at 5pm on a Saturday. My friend and I couldn't get a table, but we were content to sit at the bar. Even the bar seating was full within an hour and a half. So beware and make that reservation! We sampled several dishes, including birria tacos, yuca fries (perfect and not too chewy or stringy), croquets de elote and the Baby Back ribs. I felt the sauce on the ribs was a little too sweet, but my friend loved it. We agreed that every thing else was great, though! Meanwhile, they had a lot of design elements that I liked, including floating bar shelves that I now want in my house. The elevated, 2nd floor area looked very trendy. I'd be curious to take a peak up there if I'm ever in the vicinity again. All in all, it was a solid experience. The staff was very kind and very attentive. It seemed like they were everywhere all at once! So it is worth the trip, especially if you like Mexican cuisine. Note: The only reason I pulled a star was because my first cocktail was spilling over as the bartender was making it (not a problem). Unfortunately, he put it down on the counter without a napkin, such that the salt and cocktail mix dripped onto the bar counter. It wasn't wiped away, so subsequently, when waiters arrived with our courses, they were forced to put those plates on top of the cocktail stains. There were no cocktail napkins near us. I didn't want to stand up, walk over to the napkin box at the corner (disturbing other patrons in the process) and make our bartender self-conscious. So, I just left the situation as-is. That kind of stuff tortures the OCD, detail-oriented among us. It's my suggestion that the restaurant adopt the easy fix of putting cocktail napkins under drippy cocktail glasses. read more

We specifically chose this restaurant because your Instagram has been promoting it as a place to come watch the World Cup. As Mexican fans, we were excited to support a Mexican restaurant while watching the Mexico match. Unfortunately, the experience didn't match what was advertised. The game started at 9:00 PM--the exact time the kitchen closed. The bar closed at 10:30 PM, before halftime, and the restaurant closed at 11:00 PM... at halftime. We were politely informed that we'd have to leave before the match was even over. I want to be very clear that this is not a reflection of the staff. Our servers, hosts, and bartenders were wonderful. They rushed our food and drink orders in before the kitchen and bar closed, checked on us throughout the evening, and handled an awkward situation with professionalism and kindness. They did everything they could within the limitations they were given. This falls on management and ownership. If you're going to actively advertise your restaurant as a destination to watch World Cup matches, your hours should actually allow people to... watch the World Cup matches. Otherwise, it feels misleading. Soccer games don't end at halftime, and anyone planning these promotions should know that. I genuinely hope this is something management reconsiders because the staff deserves better, and so do the customers who came expecting the experience that was advertised. read more

The atmosphere was very nice and I wanted to love it but I was quite disappointed. We asked for water and the waitress asked if we wanted sparkling or still. We said still. We were charged $18!! That's ridiculous! She kept bringing water and charging us for it! All I wanted was the Mexican Smash burger but they ran out of it! Who runs out of ground beef? They should've went to Whole Foods across the street gotten some ground beef to make a burger. I ended up with the Caesar salad, but it was so overloaded with dressing that it was very soggy. My husband, son, and daughter-in-law got tacos. They charged $18 for three tacos and there were no sides! No rice and no beans! They were also very bland. Everything was overpriced and I wouldn't feel bad about the price if the food was good or the portions were bigger. The part that really got me was that I was charged 20% gratuity for a "large party" BUT there were only 5 of us and an infant! I was also charged a $6.50 "convenience fee". The place is huge and absolutely gorgeous. Jersey City really needed a fine-dining spot like this. I tried one of their cocktails and loved it - no surprise since that's what they're known for. Everyone at the table enjoyed their drinks, so they definitely deliver on that front. Food-wise, they start you off with fried tortillas and a trio of sauces and salsa - the medium one was my favorite and the hot one had a really good kick if you like some heat. We ordered the street corn and crab tostadas to start, but I wasn't a big fan of either. For my main, I got the fish tacos, which were good. It wasn't overly greasy and stayed light which I appreciated, but it was still far from being one of the best. We ended with the chocolate lava cake. This took the longest to arrive. It was good but had a mound of salted butter melting along with the chocolate that was a bit overpowering and made the dish taste salty. I also didn't like the texture of the ice cream it came with. Overall, I'd recommend this place for the ambiance, the Latin American music (lots of Bad Bunny ), and the drinks. We recently headed back to Meximodo and had another great experience. On the second visit, we sat in the downstairs dining room, which was much more in the heart of the action, as it was near the bustling bar. Specifically, we were seated at a cozy corner booth with views of the entire downstairs; it was definitely one of the better seats in the house. While our dinner again started with the same tortilla chips and various salsas, we tried new items for the rest of the meal. In terms of the beverages, I started with the El Presidente, a margarita made of 1800 Silver Tequila, cool cucumber juice, and fresh lime, served in a rocks glass with a tajin rim. My first sip led me to believe that cucumber and lime were not the best mix, but the drink was much more refreshing as I continued to drink it. It was packed with ice, so I wound up finishing it rather quickly. For my second beverage, I revisited the spicy margarita list and wound up increasing the heat level from my past mild jalapeno version to a medium chipotle one. The cocktail might have used reposado tequila, as it was light brown in color, and it was terrific! I found the heat level perfect. From a food perspective, I also opted for something more elaborate than my previous tacos; I wound up ordering the Nayarit-Style Red Snapper. The large filet of grilled snapper was soft and tender, though it had one side of skin still on, which I had to remove. The fish was served with a half of a fresh avocado with an avo-verde salsa marinade over it. It was served with a large portion of white rice and was all covered with a tangy pineapple pico de gallo. The pico was a bit heavy on the acid, which made it slightly mushy, but it tasted excellent. The whole plate was so filling! I also took a bite of my companion's 12-oz. Hanger Carne Asada. The steak was very tender, but also had a lovely char on the outside. It was served with a salsa molecajete, pickled onions, cilantro, and yuca fries. Lastly, we saw our table neighbors with a chocolate dessert that looked so good that we needed to have one for ourselves. So, we ordered that Molten Chocolate Lava Cake, which was great, but did not match its description at all. It was noted as having "a white chocolate molten center, finished with warm cajeta caramel, and a scoop of Mexican vanilla ice cream". Ours was essentially a block of fudge with no gooey center or even any white chocolate inside. The decadent cake was then topped with drizzles of white and dark chocolate, but no caramel. We had asked to substitute the supposed to be included vanilla ice cream with a scoop of Maria Cookie ice cream, which they obliged since they were the same cost. Second time coming here with my partner. The service is always great and the music is ON POINT. The menu is a little limited but the food is BOMB!! This time we got chicken asada tacos, ribeye bites and the truffle corn. Last time we got pasta, enchiladas and yuca fries. The drinks are strong but my diet coke was a little watery. They have outdoor and indoor seating. The place is beautiful both inside and out :). Definitely would recommend!! read more

We were on our last round of drinks when the entirety of our table fell over. Drinks, plates, and one of our phones included. We were in shock, but understood that accidents happen. We were just bummed that drinks were still full when the table went down. Someone came to check on us after the accident, we didn't catch her name but she was professional, courteous and seemed to genuinely care that we were ok. One of us mentioned about how we were bummed about the drinks, and they offered to make new ones. It was supposed to be our last round so we declined but suggested that the last round be taken off our bill, and asked for the bill so we could head out. As we wait for our bill, another manager named Marcos approaches us and starts with a check in to see if we were ok, to which my friend joked "we're just a little shook but we'll be okay." He then proceeded to tell us that we should not have added a third to our table when the reservation was for 2. Keep in mind that when the table flew over there were only 2 of us seated. Confused, one of us challenged him asking why this mattered. After a series of degrading "my loves" and interrupting, this man proceeded to ask "who booked the reservation for 2," refusing to back down from the thought that it was our fault that the table fell over. I've enclosed a picture of the unbolted table halfway off the platform where we were sat. This pic was taken after the table was put back in position (suggesting that it is its standard placement - overhanging from the ledge). Andres (wonderful server!) took our last round of drinks off the bill which was appreciated. If you decide to dine here, I recommend checking the stability of your table and expect managerial cattiness if an issue arises. read more

Finally a massive restaurant in jersey city. Apart from being huge the first thing that catches eye is the beautiful decor making the atmosphere upscale, energetic & lively.Guac , tacos and margs is the way to go! I fell in love with the pineapple mango habaenero guac .My watermelon tomato salad was also very refreshing .In my next visit I definstely plan on tryingbout the street style corn.Our server was very friendly and gave us ample of time to decide which I appreciate. The tres leches was a very big let down for me .It just did not taste like tres leches for me . read more

Beautiful interior but there were a few misses when it came to the food. The waffle that came with the chicken and waffles entree was over cooked and practically inedible (server had a new waffle made which came out much better than the first). Our barbacoa omelette came out as barbacoa tacos and took approximately 20 minutes to fix the error, but the omelette was very good once it finally arrived. Service was a bit on the slower side and it took a while for our server to return to our table, to refill drinks and check on us. read more
