Truffle street corn - absolutely loved it
    Riddhi S.

I wanted to try this place for so long as it's just near to where I live. I'm not actually big on Mexican food, but after hearing so much about it, I finally a try when our Mexican food lover friend visited us and let me tell you, the hype is absolutely real. We started with the complimentary chips and salsa and ordered the Truffle street corn, golden cauliflower taco, salsa flight and sizzling Fajita platter. The highlight was definitely the corn as the truffle wasn't overpowering at it absolutely hit the spot!! The service was decent although our server was managing multiple tables at a time but I won't complain. The ambience is beautiful and aesthetic with plenty of seating, which is great for a special days and celebrations too. I would definitely recommend it!!!

The ambiance was really nice, and the hostess was very friendly and welcoming. Our waiter was also very nice, and the drinks were definitely a highlight, well-made and enjoyable. Unfortunately, the food was a letdown. As someone who really loves Mexican cuisine, I found the dishes underwhelming, and even the hot sauce was lacking in flavor and spice. The service around the food could have been better as well. When the food arrived, we didn't have enough room on the table, so we were scrambling to rearrange everything and make space. Rather than helping us, the server simply left, which was disappointing and made the experience feel less attentive. Overall, I'd come back for the drinks and ambiance, but I wouldn't return specifically for the food. Hopefully, the kitchen and service improve because the atmosphere definitely has potential.

Decided to finally try this contemporary restaurant that had lots of hype when it opened. The ambiance is beautiful. Well design led and unique interiors - dramatic lighting, heritage reflecting artwork, beautiful furniture and other decorative touches. The large central bar had a unique 'tower' of illuminated circular glass shelves displaying the many tequila and mezcal selections. We arrived late - only 45 min to closing - but they still accommodated us. The Host was very nice and waiter was pleasant and attentive. We quickly ordered the Pollo con Mole Poblano and Baja Crispy Fish Tacos as well as 2 cocktails - El Padrino and El Jefe. The cocktails were excellent!! Very well crafted and balanced. Not too weak and not too strong. The El Padrino was dramatic entertainment- it came out flaming!! The food was a bit disappointing. We have had many mole dishes in Mexico and here, in JCty. This one was not very flavorful at all and the sauce to meat proportion was small. The chicken was done well - moist and well seasoned but the 'blah-ness' of the sauce detracted. The tacos were actually quite good - lots of flavor and the batter was light and crispy. Considering the pricing of the entrees, it's not worth the spend. We will return, but probably just for the drinks and maybe appetizers so we can enjoy the beautiful space and bar.

Meximodo is absolutely beautiful on the side. It is so well decorated and the color them is bright and inviting. I was soo excited to try this place out, so a few coworkers and I went there for dinner after work. We made a reservation so there wasn't a wait at all and as soon as we sat down our waitress came over to get us settled and offer us water and bring over with chips and salsa. Very attentive. We were eager and excited to try everything so we ordered a bunch of stuff. We ordered the guac plate, Citrus shrimp aguachile, pollo con mole poblano, enchiladas clasicas and the nayarit fire-grilled red snapper. The guac plate is a good size and very sharable. The shrimp aguachile was okay; i didnt enjoy it but everyone else did! The mole was good and the chicken was very tender. The red snapper was a filet and not the whole fish, which was disappointing and i do think it was very under seasoned. We also ordered drinks (sangrai and mango marg on the rocks and passionfruit marg) which were good. The place and vibe was cool but the food is over priced and just okay. If you're going there for vibes and drinks, this is the place to go.

I actually wanted to update my review. The first time I went, I ended up feeling sick afterward. I wasn't sure if it was from Meximodo, so I didn't mention it in my original review. However, I returned yesterday and unfortunately felt sick again shortly after eating. This time we tried the brunch taco tray, which I thought was a really cool concept. We ordered birria and steak tacos, and each order came with 3 tacos. We happened to get two orders of birria, which is why there are 6 in the photo, but you can mix and match however you'd like. I also want to mention that our waitress was amazing -- extremely kind, respectful, and attentive. The vibes and atmosphere are always great. My only complaint is that the food seems to upset my stomach. That said, just because it made me sick does not mean: A) the food wasn't tasty, because it definitely was, or B) that you'll have the same experience. This was simply my personal experience, and I genuinely hope others have a better one. I'll also add that while the food is good, there are many other Mexican restaurants out there that feel more authentic.

The review focuses solely on the food, not the service. The food is overpriced and not authentic Mexican--fancy plating with mediocre flavors. The street corn tastes more like frozen corn; the tortillas are store-bought. Living in California made me a Mexican food snob, and for half the price, you can get an explosion of Mexican cuisine--more of an Instagram moment than anything else.

Meximodo major positives: ambiance, lighting, decor, and vibes The service was lacking BUT I did go on Cinco de Mayo so I'm NOT going to harp on them too much for it. It's a busy day. Though we had long waits, everyone was still kind and helpful. Food wise, Meximodo is truthfully mid. I ordered the enchiladas and the red sauce that came with it was uninspiring. The tacos were better. The pricing at Meximodo is wild for the flavors and portions you get. Yeah the taco board looks a lot, but that's 9 tacos and a side of your choice for $59. You come to Meximodo for a fun pre-game before a night out with your friends or for a first date.

I loved the vibe at this restaurant. The servers were friendly. And the drinks were strong, although I got a double shot. I ordered the red snapper as my entree. I do think the snapper could have been seasoned a bit more but it was enjoyable otherwise. Loved the chips and salsa that they give you once you sit as well. I would return to this restaurant.

Beautifully done establishment. Perfect venue for events with outdoor and upstairs seating. S/O TO THE KNICKS!!!! We ate here after the parade. The decor was all about soccer for the World Cup and they did their thing with the themed setup! Service was excellent, drinks were great. I had a mango and passionfruit virgin marj. I really liked this combination and the glass presentation was unique. I ate the prime ribeye steakhouse tacos without cheese, very juicy and flavorful.

Food is fine and the ambience feels fun and colorful, but service was slow and disappointing. We made a reservation but still had to wait to get seated when it wasn't full inside. We also asked to sit at the bar while we waited for the table and were told we couldn't, so eventually a bunch of people were waiting in the tiny front vestibule only. Not sure why? When we were finally sat, we were sat in the upstairs section in a corner, but there were tables in the main area. Not a great first impression for a new restaurant that seemed to have promise. Food was fine, not wow'ed but not terribly bad.

I was excited to learn that Meximodo opened in Jersey City and was eager to check it out since I loved my experience at the Metuchen location. The restaurant is just as beautiful as the original and has stunning decor. The cocktails tasted fantastic, and I loved that the menu lists choices by flavor profile. The La Chicharrita Spritz was outstanding--the perfect mix of sweet, bubbly, and bold. My friends raved about the Cocolada, another standout cocktail that was rum-based with pineapple juice and lime. I had the al pastor tacos, which were delicious, while my friends had the chicken tinga, barbacoa, and Baja fish tacos. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food, and our sides of yuca fries and plantains were also big hits. For dessert, we ordered churros, which came with dulce de leche and chocolate sauce. The churros were hot and crunchy, and the sauces paired perfectly. Our service was pretty good, though it felt a bit rushed even though the restaurant wasn't overly crowded for a Friday night. All in all, I had a great experience and would recommend it. PS: They are building another location on Route 10 in Parsippany, so I am definitely looking forward to that one opening up!

Was so excited for this place to open in JC and even more excited to finally come by and check out what they had to offer ! The margarita was amazing -- they give you a choice of tequilas you want and different flavors. Mango was a++++. Really wanted elote but didn't want to to deal with corn in my teeth so we settled on the croquetas which was amazing and different. Had the chicken enchiladas as an entree and whewww. Usually I don't finish my main because I'm already so full but this !! I finished the entire plate. The sweet plantains they had to offer were so different from what I'm used to as it was dressed with crema and cheese and goodness-- the sweet and savoryness of it was such a pleasing experience. Would absolutely come back for a drink and date night!! SAMUEL! Samuel was so sweet and came back to check on us often. I hope you get him as your server if anyone decides to come by!

It delivered on both fronts, but I really was blown away by the wine. The sheer quantity of available wines is really impressive, and the sommelier was able to recommend a rare wine that fit our interests (a fantastic, effervescent, creamy Txakoli that had lovely fruit and minerals). Later, I tried amazing ice cider. The food rundown: -Sesame pizza Bianca: complimentary bread! This was very good and quite sizable. The bottom is entirely encrusted with sesame. -Scallop crudo (rhubarb, shiso): very good and the plating was gorgeous. Meaty scallops with tangy and pungent flavors. -Snowdance chicken (spinach, sherry, thyme): Super tender, crispy-skinned chicken in a savory sherry sauce. -Sea bass (asparagus, hollandaise): I was surprised at how remarkably well this dish worked. The asparagus was so good with the rich, buttery sauce. Definitely a smaller portion, but the chicken was huge so it balanced out. -Potatoes with ramps: Yum. Served hashbrown-style and the ramps were added as little sauce dollops. I loved the space, and by that I mean the ambience and also the literal amount of space we had to ourselves. We got to stretch out in a roomy corner booth. The room featured a lot of exposed brick and grey and utilitarian ceilings, but it manages to be cozy all the same.
