    Al pastor tacos

I actually wanted to update my review. The first time I went, I ended up feeling sick afterward. I wasn't sure if it was from Meximodo, so I didn't mention it in my original review. However, I returned yesterday and unfortunately felt sick again shortly after eating. This time we tried the brunch taco tray, which I thought was a really cool concept. We ordered birria and steak tacos, and each order came with 3 tacos. We happened to get two orders of birria, which is why there are 6 in the photo, but you can mix and match however you'd like. I also want to mention that our waitress was amazing -- extremely kind, respectful, and attentive. The vibes and atmosphere are always great. My only complaint is that the food seems to upset my stomach. That said, just because it made me sick does not mean: A) the food wasn't tasty, because it definitely was, or B) that you'll have the same experience. This was simply my personal experience, and I genuinely hope others have a better one. I'll also add that while the food is good, there are many other Mexican restaurants out there that feel more authentic.

Beautifully done establishment. Perfect venue for events with outdoor and upstairs seating. S/O TO THE KNICKS!!!! We ate here after the parade. The decor was all about soccer for the World Cup and they did their thing with the themed setup! Service was excellent, drinks were great. I had a mango and passionfruit virgin marj. I really liked this combination and the glass presentation was unique. I ate the prime ribeye steakhouse tacos without cheese, very juicy and flavorful.

Meximodo major positives: ambiance, lighting, decor, and vibes The service was lacking BUT I did go on Cinco de Mayo so I'm NOT going to harp on them too much for it. It's a busy day. Though we had long waits, everyone was still kind and helpful. Food wise, Meximodo is truthfully mid. I ordered the enchiladas and the red sauce that came with it was uninspiring. The tacos were better. The pricing at Meximodo is wild for the flavors and portions you get. Yeah the taco board looks a lot, but that's 9 tacos and a side of your choice for $59. You come to Meximodo for a fun pre-game before a night out with your friends or for a first date.

I was excited to learn that Meximodo opened in Jersey City and was eager to check it out since I loved my experience at the Metuchen location. The restaurant is just as beautiful as the original and has stunning decor. The cocktails tasted fantastic, and I loved that the menu lists choices by flavor profile. The La Chicharrita Spritz was outstanding--the perfect mix of sweet, bubbly, and bold. My friends raved about the Cocolada, another standout cocktail that was rum-based with pineapple juice and lime. I had the al pastor tacos, which were delicious, while my friends had the chicken tinga, barbacoa, and Baja fish tacos. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food, and our sides of yuca fries and plantains were also big hits. For dessert, we ordered churros, which came with dulce de leche and chocolate sauce. The churros were hot and crunchy, and the sauces paired perfectly. Our service was pretty good, though it felt a bit rushed even though the restaurant wasn't overly crowded for a Friday night. All in all, I had a great experience and would recommend it. PS: They are building another location on Route 10 in Parsippany, so I am definitely looking forward to that one opening up!

Was so excited for this place to open in JC and even more excited to finally come by and check out what they had to offer ! The margarita was amazing -- they give you a choice of tequilas you want and different flavors. Mango was a++++. Really wanted elote but didn't want to to deal with corn in my teeth so we settled on the croquetas which was amazing and different. Had the chicken enchiladas as an entree and whewww. Usually I don't finish my main because I'm already so full but this !! I finished the entire plate. The sweet plantains they had to offer were so different from what I'm used to as it was dressed with crema and cheese and goodness-- the sweet and savoryness of it was such a pleasing experience. Would absolutely come back for a drink and date night!! SAMUEL! Samuel was so sweet and came back to check on us often. I hope you get him as your server if anyone decides to come by!

Came here on a Sunday evening. Ordered the Yuca fries and they were so crispy and delicious! The staff was so friendly and gave great recommendations. Clean establishment with good music. Also ordered a watermelon margarita which was delicious. Overall amazing service!

My beautiful husband. A part of the menu. Good vibes.

Second time coming here with my partner. The service is always great and the music is ON POINT. The menu is a little limited but the food is BOMB!! This time we got chicken asada tacos, ribeye bites and the truffle corn. Last time we got pasta, enchiladas and yuca fries. The drinks are strong but my diet coke was a little watery. They have outdoor and indoor seating. The place is beautiful both inside and out :). Definitely would recommend!!

    Chicken and waffles

This place was disappointing from the moment that I stepped in. The host, Leisha ignored me. I was standing there waiting (with a reservation) and she started to help other guests. When I finally was helped-I was seated at a tight table between two other parties. I asked to be moved. I ordered the chicken and waffles. The server did not know how the chicken was prepared (breast, thigh, etc) and had to ask, but outside of that he was very attentive. The chicken was tasty, but the waffles were cold-I didn't bother sending it back because it just would have delayed brunch. The cocktails were good. I wouldn't come here again. It's a beautiful space, but there are a lot of other places in Jersey City with better food and service.

They hold the Guinness World Record for the largest agave selection!!!! Their skilled mixologists craft well-balanced cocktails are delish. The menu focuses on high-quality, locally sourced ingredients combined with traditional techniques and bold Mexican flavors. Each dish feels thoughtfully prepared and true to the cuisine. The space is sooo pretty and it's decorated for the holidays, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. A great spot for tequila enthusiasts and anyone looking for a vibrant dining experience in Jersey City.

Meximodo is a great spot for a relaxed, enjoyable meal. Great food, great vibe, the outdoor seating. It has a warm, energetic feel that works just as well for a relaxed lunch as it does for a date or catching up with friends. The food was solid across the board and came out at a nice pace. Nothing felt rushed, and the overall experience was easy and enjoyable. I'd definitely go back more for the atmosphere and overall experience, but the food absolutely holds its own.

Visited Meximodo in Jersey City as it seemed to open up fairly recently. I heard of their location in Metuchen, but hadn't had the chance to make it out there before. Got there before 6pm on a Saturday and it was humming. Couldn't even get a table seating, but fortunately got a couple barstools. The place is huge too. There's an entire second floor of seating. In Jersey City, it's hard to find restaurants as big as this. First off, the cocktail menu is quite impressive. More importantly, I was surprised with the number of spicy margaritas available. I went with the Tanteo Chipotle.... and the kick was amazing. More importantly, it came in such a huge glass so I got my money's worth. My fianceé ordered the El Encanto which also tasted pretty good. We noticed the vegetarian menu was quite expansive. We split the Croquetas de Elote as an appetizer and enjoyed it. We then split two main items. The mushroom enchiladas were great. However, we found that the Cauliflower El Pastor missed the mark. The cauliflower was cooked (as it was soft), but it wasn't hot. It was kinda cold/lukewarm. We couldn't really eat it and was disappointed with that. The flan for dessert saved the lackluster cauliflower fortunately. Otherwise, all in all a 4 star review from me. Almost was 3, but the drinks + dessert made up for it.

Scallop ceviche - 7-10 good serving size but wish it came with more chips and had a stronger scallop taste I.e less sauce!

Food and drinks came quickly and all tasted pretty good! Everything was reasonably priced given the location and the restaurant itself being more "upscale". The drinks were strong especially the mangonada! The chips and salsa were also tasty and I wish we asked for a chip refill! Overall, I wouldn't say the staff was super attentive but everyone was nice and the service was good.

The atmosphere was very nice and I wanted to love it but I was quite disappointed. We asked for water and the waitress asked if we wanted sparkling or still. We said still. We were charged $18!! That's ridiculous! She kept bringing water and charging us for it! All I wanted was the Mexican Smash burger but they ran out of it! Who runs out of ground beef? They should've went to Whole Foods across the street gotten some ground beef to make a burger. I ended up with the Caesar salad, but it was so overloaded with dressing that it was very soggy. My husband, son, and daughter-in-law got tacos. They charged $18 for three tacos and there were no sides! No rice and no beans! They were also very bland. Everything was overpriced and I wouldn't feel bad about the price if the food was good or the portions were bigger. The part that really got me was that I was charged 20% gratuity for a "large party" BUT there were only 5 of us and an infant! I was also charged a $6.50 "convenience fee". This birthday celebration dinner was absolutely not convenient at all! I was scammed!

Ordered a Cadillac Margarita (Casamigos) for me + Vodka Martini (Grey Goose) for my partner + thick Fries + Slice of Chocolate Cake Drinks weren't anything special but the fries were hreat and cake hit the spot. Things I dream of all in one sexy, cozy place that whisks you far away from the streets of Manhattan. Our chairs were comfy, and there were many seating areas that looked equally as inviting. It delivered on both fronts, but I really was blown away by the wine. The sheer quantity of available wines is really impressive, and the sommelier was able to recommend a rare wine that fit our interests (a fantastic, effervescent, creamy Txakoli that had lovely fruit and minerals). Later, I tried amazing ice cider. The food rundown: -Sesame pizza Bianca: complimentary bread! This was very good and quite sizable. The bottom is entirely encrusted with sesame. -Scallop crudo (rhubarb, shiso): very good and the plating was gorgeous. Meaty scallops with tangy and pungent flavors. -Snowdance chicken (spinach, sherry, thyme): Super tender, crispy-skinned chicken in a savory sherry sauce. -Sea bass (asparagus, hollandaise): I was surprised at how remarkably well this dish worked. The asparagus was so good with the rich, buttery sauce. Definitely a smaller portion, but the chicken was huge so it balanced out. -Potatoes with ramps: Yum. Served hashbrown-style and the ramps were added as little sauce dollops. I loved the space, and by that I mean the ambience and also the literal amount of space we had to ourselves. We got to stretch out in a roomy corner booth. The room featured a lot of exposed brick and grey and utilitarian ceilings, but it manages to be cozy all the same.

We came in on a Friday evening and it was pretty quiet inside. After we were sat down upstairs, it took a long time for our waitress to come to take our order. We got the Butterscotch flip, Getaway driver, and Big trouble. These drinks were not it. Although the prices are okay($19 each), they definitely need some improvement. All three had very strong flavors that were not balanced with the rest of the drink. After we finished our drinks, we waited an especially long time for the waitress to come back, check on us, and give us our bill. It was especially frustrating because we were the only ones in the bar at this point and we could hear them chatting downstairs. Overall, both service and the drinks need improvement.
