I would like to recommend this B&B but I really can't. It's a lovely house and the breakfasts are amazing, but I was extremely uncomfortable here. There are laminated notes all over the house, some are framed and hung on the wall or on the bedside table; they have instructions for every little thing, telling you what you should be doing or not doing. I counted NO FEWER than 7 in the bathroom alone. Some of the messages are in bold/allcaps, and the owner is so particular about your every movement in the house. I was told the kitchen closes at 9:30 AM sharp and that I couldn't use the tea kettle thereafter. I was also told to reuse my cloth napkin each day for 3 mornings, and was sort of scolded when I got jam on my napkin the morning of day 2 and had to be given a new one. After breakfast, I sat in the adjoining living room chair just to wait for my husband and she said to me, "Feel free to use this room, by the way." We came back to the inn late at night to find a note on the table instructing us to turn off all the lights in the downstairs part of the inn and lock the door.
In addition, the owner sat with us at breakfast and chatted about how she had been in India. When I mentioned we should do something to clean up the drinking water supply, she remarked "That's not our job," and then she said, "Then, we'd have to feed them." And, she sweetly and politely tried to explain that the toxic water would keep the population in India down anyway, so it's better this way.
Finally, our bedroom had a strong mildew smell.
All-in-all, I wouldn't go here unless you're so neat and orderly and regimented with your own schedule, even when you're on vacation, that you can meet the expectations of the innkeeper. read more
