Room 4 - two twin beds
    Katie L.

Beautiful B & B complete with wrap around porch and an outdoor shower literally steps away from South Kingstown Town Beach. The host is super friendly and informative being sure to explain all COVID related requirements. We were able to walk from the Inn to the Ocean Mist very easily. We also walked to SKTB both mornings we were there. The parking lots were very clean, not overcrowded at all and the bathrooms were sufficient. Come for the beach - stay for the breakfast! Levon cooked up a delicious apple bacon dish as well as a peach cobbler type dish this morning. I loved having my breakfast on the big, beautiful porch overlooking the meticulously maintained grounds with a hot cup of coffee. I would definitely recommend staying here and enjoying some beach time to anyone. This particular stay was a girls trip and the two twin beds with private bath fit the bill for a night away at the beach.

I did not stay at this wonderful little place BUT my parents did recently for their 32nd wedding anniversary. Before they arrived, I called and spoke with Levon, the Innskeeper. I explained the situation and asked if I could ask a HUGE favor of him, to leave a bottle of Prosecco & bag of peanut M&M's in my parents room w/ a note from their favorite daughter, me. Not only did he do it right away & text me a photo of the perfect surprise treat setup, but he wouldn't let me pay him for it!! Levon, if you're reading this, message me your Venmo handle ASAP! I cannot thank him enough for his incredible generosity. I am so beyond grateful, and my parents thought it was the most perfect little treat. Thank you so much!

I gave it a 5 star. The rooms are great. I had 6 people who stayed with me. The breakfast Levon makes outstanding cuisine. It is difficult to get a Uber/ Lyft out here so rent a car. Beach is walking distance. Theater by the Sea 20 minutes walk. Everything is walking distance from this Inn. Clean and had all the amenities that you need. I went during the summer months in July. No a/c in our room but we were fine with the windows open and the fan on. Fresh air is the best to go to sleep. Next door is a deli shop. The baguettes hot and delicious. You need to ask for it. It is a great place to relax and get away from your busy schedule. It is a must see.

    love it here!!

this is our fourth year taking a late-season beach jaunt (our annual very delayed mother's day getaway!) at the admiral dewey.... we started coming here when levon bought the place and keep coming back because we love it. it's clean, quiet, and laura is very accommodating with our coming and going and perpetual snacking! good coffee is ready early, and a dee-licious but un-fussy breakfast is made for us every morning. we are sent off for our beach day with a homemade muffin to go, plus there is cereal available all day long for post-surf snacking. NEW SUPER BONUS! they have a fleet of sweet beach cruiser bikes! two minute ride to town beach... easy cruise to matunuck beach, moonstone, theatre by the sea...

I would NEVER recommend staying at this establishment. While the location is good, you are better…read moreoff pitching a tent and sleeping on a beach than staying in one of these disgustingly dirty rooms. If you chose to sleep at the beach you would have less sand than we did in our room and we didn't even go to the beach. I stayed here with two friends because we were in town for a wedding. We checked in quickly to get into the room before the wedding, but we weren't able to do a full sweep of the room, or set up our bed. When we returned to the hotel to sleep after midnight we noticed there was no one in the lobby. When we got in the room we noticed a few things: the floor was covered in sand, there was trash in the fridge from previous guests, there was no toilet paper, no paper towel, gum on the wall AND unclean sheets on the bed. When we went to check out in the morning I told the front desk of our issues expecting that they would give us some sort of discount or refund because that type of service is completely unacceptable. The woman at the desk said "oh we have had a problem with that cleaner" and "yes, the room next door to you also had a similar problem". She didn't offer any sort of compensation aside from "sorry" and she clearly knew this was an issue. I find that completely unacceptable. They should have at least taken off some amount of money for the inconvenience. When I returned home I reviewed the establishment on Orbitz as that was where the reservation was booked. This hotel had the audacity to respond to me saying that the situation was rectified and that they came to clean the room when we asked! This never occurred as we stayed in room 121 not room 119, who also had an unclean space. I find this incredibly embarrassing for them and think it is utterly disgusting that in a time when cleanliness is so important this hotel could not provide a clean space to stay.

I have a solid table with four chairs. I am scent-sensitive and it smells fine. The efficiency kitchen is great -- I prefer to avoid restaurants. The grounds are well-maintained. The office is staffed until 11 pm. I'm not sure how I would feel about paying on-season rates, but off-season (when I prefer to travel, in any country) this is a lot more than I was expecting, right on the water, helpful people own it. -- Eric Francis

My boyfriend and I stayed at The Surfside Motel for 2 days in July. Most of the hotels/motels in…read morethe area require a minimum 2 night stay, so we picked this motel due to its proximity to the beach (1 mile) and Nordic Lodge. CONS: Overpriced. You are mostly paying for location. The shower is made for children and/or little people. I had to stick half my body out of it in order to shave. The room is tiny and the walls are paper thin. There was also no closet (they had an Kmart looking unit attached to the wall to hang up your clothes), a busted dresser, and no iron. The rooms are non-smoking. There is a porch with a table area, but you are so close to your neighbors if they happen to be out there at the same time, there is no privacy whatsoever. PROS: Great location near the beach and restaurants. Westerly, RI is not too far away. Clean. WiFi. Debbie, the office manager, is very nice and lives on site. If you are the type of person who barely stays in your room, then the cons won't really matter. Extra star rating given due to the easy check in/check out process and the location. FYI. The Surfside Motel works with The Nordic Lodge. However, you must inform them prior to booking in order to get it included with your reservation. I am not sure if there is a discount on the price of the Nordic Lodge tickets when buying them through the hotel.

At the end are my suggestions for improvement. If you consider two building facing windows with a craning neck against the window, then this place is for you. If you consider old WW2 cotton mattresses from the USS New Jersey to be the height of luxury, then you'll probably be disappointed by the bed; that depending on how tall you are you may need to sleep diagonally, then this place is for you. If you consider a complimentary breakfast to be LITERALLY: two types of cereal & plain bagels with the choice of soured milk so instead you use not as soured half & half for your coffee as well as "same day of use is not expired" orange juice for your cereal, then this place is for you. If you consider having the staff snicker at you as you struggle to open a heavy door against the wind with said bowl of cereal & cup of coffee spill as the door hits you hard; enough so that if I were a weak willed individual I could sue for money, then this place is for you. If you consider the price of this two night experience to be worth more than $650.00 dollars then this place is for you! However, if the price was literally a third less, then this would be mostly acceptable. Perhaps, if the breakfast was served warm with something cooked; instead of everyone's hands in the bagle bag, like you are trying to spread some herd immunity, eh. Anyhow, I'm not trying to be mean spirited, I'll leave that to the Enterprise yeahoos in the next review.

The staff at the hotel appear to be unprofessional and inexperienced. On my first visit over the winter the check in process was unorganized, and I was unsure as to who was actually the staff since they were not dressed in uniform or professional attire. Later I was unable to turn the ac off in my room, I called for help and could hear the two girls running through the halls on the way to our room. They arrived barefoot and did eventually help me fix the problem but it was odd that two young girls barefoot were running around as the hotel as maintenance. The elevator was very shaky and made a lot of noise. I was grateful that I did not have a lot of luggage or people with me, I used the stairs for the rest of my visit. I recently attended a seminar at the hotel, it began at 8am and had approximately 200 people attending. When I arrived at 7:45 the coffee was already empty. They had only one container for everyone. There was no one around to ask for more. About 30 min later after the discussion began they came to restart the coffee maker and they said it would've done in 15min After 15 min it was only hot water, not coffee. The girl said it was broken then left. She later showed up another gentleman, who was also in street clothes, with headphones on his head, and they were carrying two box's of joe. At this point it was 10am and everyone was just over the fact that they failed at providing coffee for their guests. I think some people had it but for me I was just ready for lunch at this point. The seminar was for all different medical professionals and I attend these types of lectures at other locations regularly.
