Cute spot! Was able to snag a table during happy hour last week. Being back in the building was so nice, glad they were able to reopen. We got a few plates and shared among 3 of us. We started with the enchiladas which were pretty solid. Then we got the scallop tostada which was good but kind of a small portion IMO. We also got the ceviche which was probably my favorite of the night. The salmon was perfect! We finished with the birria which was definitely a shareable but makes sense for the price. Our server was great and very flexible. Overall I like this place but it is a little bit of a splurge. Probably won't be back in too soon just because of the prices.

Wow, great time here! Awesome vibes on the inside, we got to our table for an 8 PM reservation on a Saturday night, and the place was still jampacked. Really cool bar in the middle and tables all around the outside. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful with the menu. All of the food items are more like small plates, so she recommended that we order several of them which we did do. I would also suggest this to anyone else visiting. Three plates was plenty for two people. The menu itself is actually not very big of note. I especially recommend the tacos de cochinita which were delicious. I would've actually gotten two plates of those and probably will the next time I go back if I knew how good they were. Overall, great time here, and cannot wait to come back!

Top notch! Only open for six months but the place was packed. Not even tables available. We sat at the bar which was perfect. Our group of 6 easily chatted drank and ate. We tried the scallop tostada and tacos dorados. It's a fusion restaurant. They take all the expected flavors toss them up in the air and serve them back to you in the most interesting and unique ways. The scallop taco was served cold with a mild delicious mole. So crispy easy to break into pieces and share. The tacos dorados were more like flautas. Served with 4 rolled and filled with seasoned creamy potatoes but still some chunks for texture. It seemed they were topped with a sweet potato puree, onions and sprinkled with nuts. The Paloma was good and the service great! A beautiful room to enjoy great food.

We're fortunate enough to live less than a block away from this gem. The overall vibe/aesthetic is truly one of the best in all of Columbus and the food and service is just as amazing. It's our absolute go-to spot for dates or anytime we have friends visiting. So excited for the re-opening!! ‍

Upscale bars featuring small plates seem to be popping up all over the Columbus Metropolitan area by lately...Mezcla seems more geared toward that than a Latin restaurant the reviews have called it. Regardless what you call it: all I can say is welcome! Think of this place a somewhere nice that you can go to your with your date, partner or a small group of friends while enjoying cocktails or a good bottle of wine. You really don't need to worry about having screaming children at this place because the menu just really doesn't accommodate for them Which in my opinion is so, well, very nice!!! Most of the menu is small plates, which goes along with the whole concept of this is a more a cocktail bar. So, if you think you're gonna get a gigantic chimichanga with rice and beans and never ending chips and salsa... This would not be the place- but if you wanna have adult beverages, paired with some excellent appetizers and small plates... then this is your place. We came here, spontaneously without reservation Our table choices were limited due to not having the reservation, but there was plenty of window, seating and bar seating to choose from so there was no problem finding a comfy place We chose to sit at the bar and enjoy some margaritas. We paired them with the house gauc n salsa. That was a wise choice. Portioned well enough to share... but you might want your own... only because the guac is beyond excellent and the salsa.... Just as good. They make their own tortilla chips... always a plus. 5/5 We also ordered carnitas tacos and a mushroom chile rellenos. The rellano was large, amply stuffed and I reallynliked that it was not breaded. Great flavor. 4/5. The tacos... three on a plate. Served open faced. Piled with the most tender and flavorful carnitas that makes you want more. 5/5. As far as service. Service was good. Sometimes a little hard to catch their attention but it did get busy so that is understandable. Everyone in the room seemed to be enjoying themselves. i would definitely go back

A friend of mine told me to try this place out. I do miss The Market. It was one of my favorite spots. They seemed to keep the same vibe of the place. Still a beautifully designed interior. Nice looking furniture too. And Tons of pathos plants. Great music selection and the outdoor seating looked nice. A friend and I made a reservation to come during HH. We were able to get deals on the drinks. I got an old fashioned while she got a margarita with mezcal. We ended up sharing everything: tostadas with guacamole and salsa, fish tacos, and pato pibil (duck thigh). We were so full! It was a lot of food. The tostadas were freshly fried and the fish tacos had a wonderful crunch to them. And the duck was so tender. It paired well with the squeeze of lime and black beans. Very impressed with the food selection here! They've got a lot of options, even a decent amount for vegetarians and gluten free folks. Staff is super smiley and helpful with menu recs. The fish tacos came with only three but since we were sharing our server said we could order an extra-- no issue with the kitchen. Mostly parallel parking around here. Easy peasy but it's not free like it used to be. I'd like to sit at the bar next time. Seems like a vibe. I'll be back!

Think high end tapas if you go to this place. The drinks were good. The steak was great. The fish tacos were good as well. You can add an extra taco for an upcharge. Low light was the stuffed pepper. It says it has chorizo in it but I couldn't taste any. The chips and guac is a little different as the chips are large and oblong. For the for of us the tab was $270. Check em out but we kinda tried everything there so it's unlikely we'd be back but it's still good.

Relatively new to the CBus food scene. Latest restaurant interation at Summit St. & W 3rd. It's Mexican with a twist. Not the kind you are use too. Offerings include cesar salad with anchovy/cheese dressing. Enough for 2 or 3. Surprisingly delicious. Fish tacos are skinless, unbreaded Icelandic cod. Veggie tacos features black bean puree and sweet potatoes. Very good. Not especially filling but super tasty. The drinks are delicious. If you like mezcal, you MUST try the alchemista. Unique, including the way its served. It was busy on Thursday evening. Tables full. Noise level loud. Service was pretty fast considering. nouveau cusine made in open kitchen makes for reservations required.

The food is amazing here! Well thought out flavor fusion. The interior is cozy with a barrel arch theme repeated in the architecture and decor. The service was great at the bar. They were incredibly busy and we couldn't get a table. The scallop tostada was amazing. I would definitely try the fish tacos if I go back. They looked great.

I can't rave enough about this meal! Excellent in every way. Some of the best, most interesting, bites I've had in Columbus in quite some time. Highly recommend going with a group of at least four to share dishes. My favorites were the aguachile tatemado (albacore) and the enchiladas. Drinks were all excellent as well. Delicious. Our server was a wealth of knowledge. Super helpful with all food and drink recommendations. Can't wait to see how this menu evolves.

Mezcal - l have to say the salsa and guacamole with tostadas were very flavorful- creamy and salsa had the right amount of heat. The scallop tostada was different- the taste was fine but l didn't realize the scallop was served cold, which had not been explained. Drink - wonderful- very well made. It's a bit loud -inside (stopped during the week) but there is a nice patio, bathrooms really clean - wonderful and friendly service. Overall experience was nice but this is an upscale priced restaurant- more gourmet. I will give it another try on a happy hour next time.

Unbelievably good. What an impressive, immaculate and fantastic restaurant. Kudos to this talented chef. Food was meticulously balanced in flavor and beautifully presented. We had the pleasure of sitting at the chef's counter and spent two hours admiring all of the menu options. If you're undecided about dinner, you should absolutely reward yourself for finding this outstanding restaurant on Yelp!

One month later and I'm still thinking about the scallop tostadas at Mezcla, probably the single best bite of my summer. The salsa macha crust gave the dish a sweet-savory note that accentuated the natural flavor of the scallop with a punchiness that reminded me of Southeast Asian salads. Anyways, onto the rest of the meal: the other dishes we ordered were all excellent. Other standouts included the chile relleno, smoked to perfection and filled with meaty oyster mushrooms, and the plantain pudding dessert, a dense, textured pudding with wonderful caramelized flavor. The drinks program was solid: the 'agricoco' was a table favorite and the 'burn after drinking' was excellent as well. The paw paw margarita lacked any distinct paw paw flavor and tasted like an ordinary margarita - I wonder if using some other tropical fruit flavor (i.e. banana & mango) might have helped to accent the unique tropical flavor and custardy notes of the paw paw fruit. Service was excellent and so friendly, and the staff took the tree nut allergy that one of our party had very, very seriously, which was super appreciated. The restaurant was beautifully decorated, and the place was bustling, with tables of large groups of friends, families out to dinner, and couples out on dates. The small and shareable plate format made it easy for us to order the right amount of food for our party size. Meszcla was a revelatory dining experience - I was impressed by how many new flavor combinations and interesting textures popped up in dishes that, on paper, I thought I knew quite well. I'm really looking forward to seeing how Meszcla grows and evolves given the creativity of their opening menu!

Their visual chart is a…read moregodsend for cocktail explorers, and all of the drinks came out delicious and exactly as described. It's so creative, and the drinks are really the stellar stand out here. However, the atmosphere of those drinks is what gives me pause when thinking about coming back. The limited table situation, tiny cramped space, and loud music means that it doesn't feel particularly relaxing. People are constantly brushing up against you (even at 5PM), and holding a conversation at a normal distance is nearly impossible. NOTE: This place is covered in dust. No shade to the ownership as it doesn't appear to be anywhere near food prep areas (it's on the decor, on/around shelving, all over the faux plants, etc.), but if you're someone who's sensitive to dust, this is probably not a good fit. PROS: -I loooooooove how they've done their drink menu. As someone who is still exploring the potential of cocktails, their nerdy "chart" that places all of their drinks on a sweet/bitter and alcohol-forward/approachable visual chart is SUCH a help. As such, everything I ordered was absolutely amazing for me. I knew exactly what to expect from a drink because of its position on the chart, and it delivered. -Their drinks are really unique. Aqua faba? Fat washed alcohols? Lollipops or toasted marshmallows as garnishes? Super cool. Don't let some of the weirder descriptions creep you out of trying them. -All of their drinks were delicious. Everything I ordered was exactly as described. I often go places where the taste is barely related to its namesake, but they were entirely on-point here. CONS: -I'm not sure if someone called off that night as other reviewers are in love with the service, but our service was really really slow. No real rapport with the staff; just stating the name of a drink as they rushed past and then they were off to try to clean a table or take someone else's order. The drinks they made were great, but this isn't somewhere we'd go if we were in a hurry. -The pictures do not accurately convey how small this place is. Like, it's small. I'd guess less than 1000 square feet. My apartment is bigger by a lot. This isn't necessarily an issue, but it means people pile up quickly as they wait for seating (there's like 4/5 tables and then bar seating). The human walkways are small enough that the bartenders and other guests will brush against you a lot - even while seated. -I get the vibe they were going for here, but with the smaller space, I think a lot of the potential decor options had to "go" in order to fit more humans. It's giving me hardcore The Hearth Room (in Cincinnati) vibes, and I think it could honestly pull it off if it simply had more space. The "relaxed, sophisticated bourbon bar" doesn't quite come through as well when things are so focused on simply fitting in more bodies. -It's loud AF. Like, really, really loud. Between all the people and the blasting pop music, it required leaning into someone's ear in order to speak at normal volumes. We'd regularly have to pause the conversation if something in the music was building to a drop. This is not a place I'd take someone I wasn't very very comfortable with because it really requires being in someone's space to talk. -There's a single all-gender toilet here for everyone in the establishment. It's basically a revolving door of people in and out of it. The door auto-closes, however, so it's really difficult to figure out if it's open or not. There was usually a queue of people waiting in front of the door.

Really in love with its vibes, both indoor dining room with different segments of seatings and outdoor patio tables are amazing. The interior design here is truly unique and artistic. Great for big groups, date night, or even just chilling with friends. Not sure if it's the standard here, but there was never anyone filling our water during the entire dining time after they left 2 bottles of water on the table. Our server is patient and friendly but not on point. They messed up our orders, forgot one order and brought one wrong (we ordered smashed burger but received chicken sandwich). Very surprising that the staff didn't do anything or offer to send in the correct order. The chef of table service for Tomahawk is fun and enjoyable to carry conversations but unfortunately our Tomahawk was overcooked. We loved the presentation for sure though. Their smoked ribs is not "smoked" but boiled and soaked in sauce. The "smoked" part refers to its presentation, but their machine was down, and we were not told, so we basically got the ribs, neither smoked in cooking method nor smoked when it was brought to our table. The donut tree is another one great for eyes and cameras. It comes with little fireworks at the table service. Overall we enjoyed the breeze and atmosphere here. Will come back for relaxation if in town.

Each to-go bottle was equivalent to 2 drinks and came with a bag of chips. Now that's both cute and awesome. Yesterday we came in after moving into the neighborhood and enjoyed the back patio. What a nice place to spend an evening. Spacious yard with plenty of tables and seating. There was a tarot reader last night too so you could sign up to have a reading. I wanted the drink not sweet and the bar must have run out of syrup for me lol. It was perfect without it. More on tart side but that's how I like it. Second drink was a negroni with dry vermouth. Predictable and always a fave for me. I also tasted a barrel aged whiskey just for fun and it's saying a a lot that I could sip it. I had to ask the bartender if the wine prices were glass or bottle (we are used to $17-$20 glasses in Seattle) and to my very pleasant surprise learned they are bottle prices.
