I am a big fan of Cava and when Mezeh opened initially, I gave it a try and was disappointed. The main reason was that the staff was directed to allow only certain items and they were very strict! Even looking through my bowl to see if I had "used up" all of my toppings. Felt like being on the soup-nazi episode! "You can't have cilantro hummus because you already added the spicy hummus....next" So one day a groupon came my way and I said why not let me see if anything changed. Well seems like other customers may have complained because now the staff seems ok for me to customize my bowl to my liking. Ofcourse you can't be silly and add 7 hummus to your bowl but no more of them checking if I have used up all my toppings. I truely enjoyed this more than Cava and actually I now feel Cava doesn't have to enough fixings! For e.g the spicy eggplant are to die for at Mezeh..plus vegetables not to mention 2 types of chicken! If you compare Cava vs Mezeh it feels like Mezeh has so many items to your bowl. Cava still has the upper hand on some of the sauces but Mezeh is close! Give it a try you will like it but the staff! One thing hit or miss is the staff! Sometimes they seem so pissed off that you wish this was self serve! Reminds me of soup Nazi episode from Seinfeld! Once a staff member was like sorry no chips when my wife asked for them on her bowl...then as we were paying here come the chips. The management really needs to get this down...we are paying for it and it's not free and please highlight on the menu that only x number of toppings as another user also complained in another review! Very similar to Cava with an Arabic twist. The toppings I highly recommend to try are the Israeli couscous, eggplant caponata, steamed beats, and the cilantro hummus. Great selection of proteins and toppings and the pitas are delicious. They have the actual pitas that are like pockets, instead of just the flat dough slices that Cava has. Service, however, was extremely disappointing. The staff were on their phones behind the counter, goofing off, and just being very unprofessional. Will not come to this location again. read more

I went to this location Friday and picked up a bowl from fair oaks mall I live about 30 mins away from the mall when I got home I was eating my food and I found a long strand of hair in it. The person who had served me was first a guy then a woman took over for the toppings. I was disgusted and immediately took images and tried to call the location multiple times that day and Saturday at different times not a single person picked up the phone the phone would just keep ringing. I then messaged customer support when my receipt came to my email and no one has bothered to reach back yet either. This place inside Fair Oaks Mall is very similar to Cava, where you pick your base (rice, greens, bread), protein, toppings, and sauce. The meats and toppings are just as flavorful as Cava. The difference is the endless amount of toppings you can pick without an additional charge! It was rows of savory, tangy, crunchy, and colorful toppings! Vegetables and legumes such as the caramelized eggplant, steamed beets, pickled carrots, and chickpea salad has never looked and tasted so good. This time I also watched favoritism - the lady (one with a fake contoured eye brow) loaded all the meat and stuff with a smile and cheery exchange of native words to her 3 Latino customers. I think of Mezeh as a more authentic version of Cava Mezze Grill. The concept is almost identical, in that you can choose a bowl or a wrap and add your choice of proteins, dips, and toppings. There are advantages and disadvantages to each restaurant. I personally like the option of having grilled seasonal vegetables as a vegetarian protein option at Cava, versus only falafel as the only vegetarian protein option at Mezeh. Additionally, I like the option of having lentils and supergreens in my Cava bowl. Where I think Mezeh is the clear winner is with their condiments and toppings, which are far more flavorful and traditional than those at Cava. I am pretty much obsessed with their version of Harissa, as it's a creamy Harissa, not just the typical red paste you find in most restaurants. Other notable toppings that distinguish Mezeh from similar restaurants include: cacik, eggplant caponata, caramelized eggplant, and the tabbouleh. Another bonus for Mezeh is that they seem to offer groupons fairly frequently, and depending on the number of toppings you select, your money could go quite far here! read more

So I was finally happy to go back last week after months of absence due to COVID. Picked up my order, got back home eager to dig in only to find a hair in my bowl. I was upset and called them. They wanted me to drive back out of my way to replace the bowl. After I declined, they agreed to refund. A few days later, I called again to confirm the refund, they said they would do it. Eight days later, there is still no refund. I come here religiously... there really is nothing to say here. The flavors speak for themselves. Every ingredient they have is just a blast of flavor that makes every bite enjoyable. Another thing I absolutely love is that they pickle their own pickled veggies. All the jars up on the shelves are not just for display. Good but unfortunately their sauces and dips do not pack as much flavor as cava. It is a similar vibe however. Here you can pack a bowl with whatever proteins you want and toppings. Whenever I want a quick healthy meal I stroll over to Mezeh. The staff is nice and the food always tastes fresh. The portion size is pretty big and they have a ton of options for toppings which is nice. They have regular soda but also have some specialty drinks which are pretty tasty. There is a bunch of seating inside and out. On a good day I suggest sitting outside under the awning with the lights, it's cute. The decor inside is nice and I like the color scheme. Finally a fast dining Mediterranean place that does justice to Mediterranean cuisine, unlike Cava. The variety is authentic and tasty with real fresh and healthy ingredients. You can taste the freshness in all their ingredients. There are no weird price changes when you pick different meats like they do at Cava. This is the upgraded version of Cava and fixes all the problems that Cava had. They also have more authentic options like tabouli in addition to the normal stuff every loves like hommus, babaganoush, and meat off the grill. I'm also glad that Fairoaks mall has a decent place to dine at a great price. For far too long, the mall only had fast food or high end. I was impressed with the chicken shawarma because of the seasoning and how well cooked it was (not too dry). I normally can't finish a bowl from Cava, but when I tell you I inhaled the Mezeh bowl.... I inhaled it. The combination of the arugula and chicken, along with various hummuses and tzatziki sauces made it one hell of a bowl! This place blew me away. I walked into the mall (through entrance next to dicks, was gonna get a haircut), and the first thing that struck me was the smell. The incredible aroma of tasty food. I was surprised, as I never really noticed this place in previous trips to the mall. Very unhappy about my experience. The chicken shawarma is spicy and unfortunately I can't do spicy. It said nothing about this on the menu either. They didn't tell me that despite repeatedly verifying that the toppings were NOT spicy. They said they'd remake it but they charged us for it. Had we known that we would have just gone somewhere else. The food wasn't even that great and the seats are terribly uncomfortable. What this restaurant lacks in originality it makes up for in unprofessionalism. Seriously, this place is functionally no different than Cava. I witnessed a server pick cheese out of a plate which she had added to the dismay of a customer and hesitated when the customer pointed out that was unacceptable. I saw another server drop pita bread on the counter by the register and simply rebag it. If you want to replicate a meal from this place, pour a bunch of canned vegetables into a bowl, drown it in tzatziki sauce, and smash your fist in it. 2/5 would not recommend. read more

I came here with my sister, who was craving chipotle. I remembered this store opening so I decided to try it instead of chipotle. We were both hungry so she waited for me in the car too focused devouring her bowl of chipotle as I bought my own Mezeh bowl. When I came back I realized the Mezeh bowl was about twice as big as the chipotle bowl, I pretty much filled it up to the brim. It was all very fresh and delicious too. She was jealous. Oh my! I fell in love with every bite. The flavors tasted delicious, every bite was pure satisfying and the Harrisa and spicy hummus was on point. The pickled onions yummm. The serving portion was good but I think they could of added more chicken. It was not enough for a bowl that cost 9+ with tax. Came here after getting the Groupon and I have to say it was a pretty sweet deal! It nearly came out to buy one get one free and the portions are huge enough to make two meals out of one. The concept is like Cava but here are a few differences: first of all, the sauces at Cava are more flavorful in my opinion, but the meats at Mezeh are more seasoned. The hummus at Cava is fresher. To me, the portions at Mezeh seem slightly bigger but only bc my local Cava suddenly started skimping compared to before. The falafel at Mezeh is wayyyy better than at Cava. It is more flavorful and less dry! Lastly, at Mezeh they give you an naan/pita type bread that really fills your belly over the top. With the Groupon, you are getting so much food for a low cost!
