    Flavor Hive lunch
    Cynthia L.

We hit up Flavor Hive for a quick weekday lunch. Here are my key takeaways: - Service was friendly and quick - Place was clean - Flavor Hive sauce was the standout; the remaining toppings, including the meat were bland. *Must bring your own chips and if you do, recommend sturdy chips like Doritos or Fritos because my Utz just became slop underneath all that jazz. This is the perfect post-party, post-drinking meal, but not a good eats kinda place.

On a warm weekend afternoon, we found ourselves at Montrose Plaza and visited Flavor Hive where Shouk used to be. We ordered a Falafel Rice Bowl and a Falafel Salad Bowl - big bowls full of rice or salad, and topped with big, round fried falafels. My bowl was right on target - soft, fluffy rice with lots of fresh, crisp veggie toppings and generous tahini. The Falafels were crunchy on the outside and soft and green on the inside, full of flavor. I realized later that I got the regular or medium sized bowl. You can get a small version or a "feast mode" large version as well. In addition to the rice or salad base, you can also get a bowl with fries as the base. Next time, I'm bringing a bag of Doritos for my own walking taco!

I was so excited to try this place after seeing all the hype from social media! I went during the week of grand opening late at night and the line wasn't too crazy. It moved at a decent pace and the staff was efficient! I ordered hot honey chicken rice bowl and they loaded up the bowl with so much meat!! Definitely worth the money! The meat itself was sweet and the toppings made it savory. The bowl was very addicting to eat and I cant wait to go back!

Flavor Hive is a cool spot and it's great to see a food truck make the jump to a real restaurant. The space is super clean and the social media hype is what got me in. I usually just get the rice--the portions are good, though they seem a bit random depending on who's working. Big fan of them using avocado oil, too. The winner is the hot honey chicken and the fresh cut veggies as toppings. White sauce is yogurt based which feels lighter than your traditional greasy white sauce. The system is mostly there, but the staff could probably use a bit more training on the details. Things like making sure side sauces actually make it into the bag and keeping the line orders straight would go a long way. Overall though, friendly staff and quality ingredients

Food portions are great and flavors are on point. It's a lot of food for the price you pay. The fries are a sleeper item that you must try.

Everything I tried was fantastic, from the perfectly prepared chicken kebabs to the cod with farro. The blackberry vodka cocktail was beautiful and delicious, and the saffron steamed milk with ginger for dessert was absolute perfection. The entire concept feels current, welcoming, and effortlessly cool without trying too hard. Can't wait to return the next time I'm back in town for meetings!

While I thought the menu was limited, it does the job. I wanted Branzino and had that in my mind the whole day but was disappointed that it wasn't on the menu. Welp, y'all know I love a burger. Service was fantastic! Ambiance feels like stepping into a French‑Mediterranean boutique café that someone elevated into a luxury dining room. It's warm, intimate, and softly glamorous without trying too hard. Let's get into it! Chicken Kabob - Seasoned perfectly over rice! Really good! It's a pretty small spot with a simple menu -- mainly lamb and chicken gyros and bowls. I vaguely remember trying a bowl before, so this time I went with the gyro and ordered extra lamb and extra sauce. I assumed the sauce was going to be traditional tzatziki, but they actually make their own sauces and I honestly wasn't very impressed by them. To their credit and great service, they definitely did not skimp on the meat because they loaded the gyro up, but honestly I probably could've gone without the extra lamb. The whole thing ended up being super messy and hard to hold together, to the point where I eventually just ate it with a fork. Overall, the taste was just a miss for me and didn't satisfy the authentic gyro craving I was hoping for. I wanted to enjoy it way more than I actually did, but I'll probably pass on coming back.

This time around, we ordered pad thai, one dish with shrimp and one with beef, crabmeat fried rice, and the khao soy noodles. The khao soy was the perfect amount of spicy and the chicken pieces + fresh onions + crispy noodles added a nice texture to the richness of the broth. This order came literally 5 minutes after we placed it, with the rest of the food coming shortly after! Portions are reasonable - all of us managed to finish our plates and felt pretty content if not full. I would say this place has a fun, upbeat atmosphere with the colorful, graffiti walls. Very limited seating though, so understandably there may be a wait time on a busy Friday or Saturday night.

The roti is so freaking good. I think there are scallions in it which I appreciate. I love roti in all cuisines so I was happy. Dipping it in the massaman curry that came with it was a delightful experience. I don't regularly eat massaman curry, but it hit the spot! Spring rolls ($8): very typical. Like four in an order. Cool with the sauce but I make my own lol. Overall, standard. Tom yum with shrimp ($8): so freaking good. You get to pick your protein. It was really good. Thai iced teas ($4): so good. Sweeter but also milky enough to balance the sweetness. Deep-ish flavor. These were freaking steal. $4 and they don't overload them with ice. Service was good. Got my food in like 10 minutes. Will def be back if in the area.

Well the day finally came when hubs was picking me up & we had time to kill before our evening plans. I had mentioned this place several times while driving past it & we decided to make a stop. It's basically a take out place with some fast food restaurant style booths. You place your order, you pay, and you wait for ur food to be prepped. Unfortunately this was a let down. His burger was sad, looked like someone had worked out their aggression on it. Seriously, I've never seen any burger & bun that flattened. It was my mistake, I was excited because of the description (it contained lamb) but wasn't anywhere close to the Greek burger we get in VA, I'm not sure it was even up the fast food level, although it was definitely in competition for flatness. My dish was composed a lot of very dry meat. I'm no longer considering a stop as I drive.

The fries are great! It's just that the roasted potatoes are even better! I enjoy the grilled eggplant, hummus with mushrooms, and would say the falafel is absolute perfection. Even my cousin who doesn't normally like falafel or hummus likes both of these things here. She said the falafel is cooked just right, being crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I agree!
