We stopped in for a late lunch here and got the crispy cauliflower appetizer, sautéed branzino, and lamb and beef kofta. The Crispy Cauliflower had raisins and toasted pine nuts, with a tahini sauce. Overall it was tasty but we felt it was missing something. The cauliflower itself was pretty hard- maybe one more minute of cooking would have been helpful, and something else to give it a touch more flavor- a little spice, a little salt. The branzino was cooked perfectly and despite it being sautéed underneath - it was very crispy on top. They nailed the crispy skin. Unfortunately it lacked salt!! It needed a pinch of salt on top, all of the flavor came from the broth under it. Last, the kofta needed some salt and lamb fat but had a tasty green herby sauce and vegetable medley under it. The service was pretty non existent (as in.. we looked around for a bit and no one was around to help. I ate most of my meal before someone finally came out and it wasn't worth asking for a salt shaker at that point). I'm not counting service in this review, just the food. For food- I'd give it 4 stars. A few pinches of salt for each dish would have elevated it. Lastly I appreciate that they brought warm bread out, that detail of warming the bread is always smart and elevates an experience. Our dishes also came with a chicken orzo soup. I went here for a late lunch. The kitchen closes at 3 for lunch. There is wonderful outdoor seating. I ordered the chopped salad with shrimp. It was wonderful and a perfect portion for lunch. Our waiter was lovely. I don't have much to add but would go back again for dinner to try another dish. read more

Mezza is magnificent! From start to finish a truly exceptional meal! I've been a fan of their other location in Westwood for many years but after moving an hour away from there 3 years ago, I was so ecstatic to find out that this location had opened up - still a good drive for me but worth i! We had a Saturday reservation & the table was ready when we arrived. Soft pillowy pita with oil started our meal while we waited for our octopus & tabbouleh apps. Both apps were fantastic - octopus was braised with a tasty sauce with chick peas, peas, & olives. We devoured it! The tabbouleh was great too but would like more parsley in it as it. Entrees were the Colorado lamb - fantastic & the short ribs - which was a terrific portion - I have enough for lunch! As I know how yummy their hummus is, I made sure to order some to go. Dinner was not complete without the ricotta fritters - so worth it!!!!!!!!! Definitely check this place out - you won't regret it! read more

On a scale from satisfactory to divine, Mezza scores a solid "praiseworthy". Upon entering, the atmosphere is elegant, low-lit (and they lowered it substantially while I was there at about 7 PM), with a simple open plan and a small back nook. Now, we took out (see photos), so I can't comment on service beyond that, but here's a rundown of the food: * Special (not "spacial", pardon my phone typing) avocado/haloumi salad: I wanted more. There was about half an avocado, deep fried (yum), paired with four lonely strips of haloumi. I was hoping for more of both main ingredients. The presentation was excellent, but the portion isn't cutting it. I didn't order the cucumber dish. * Baba ghanoush: 5 stars. Smoky, subtle flavors, very smooth. "Divine." Order this. * Tabouleh: Reasonable. The pomegranate seeds got lost in the overall palate. Heavier on the couscous than I like my tabouleh (vs. veg-heavy). * Pita: Unusual, Israeli-style heavy pita instead of the lighter greek bread. Not my favorite style, but quite tasty and made fresh. * Persian shrimp: Wonderful flavor in this dish, but again, no portion. You get four ridiculously undersized shrimp. For $15, I'd like to at least see jumbo shrimp instead of these medium ones. That one aspect really threw off my perception of the dish. Also, with little solid and a lot of (admittedly delectable) liquid, presentation was ruined in transit. * Short rib pappardelle: Not really Israeli, but a hit. The noodles are homemade and al dente. The cheese didn't quite make sense on this dish, as it quickly melted and didn't contribute much flavor. The short rib and the jus went a lot farther in that regard. Still, would definitely eat again. Overall? A fine dining experience, but a little more thought to ingredients will raise it that last star. read more

Service was very good at lunchtime and menu was more racist than I recalled. One of us had a steak sandwich and enjoyed it a lot and the other had a Mediterranean salad with spices chicken. Portion size was good but I didnt care for the flavor of the chicken. To be fair, I don't think it was bad; it was simply a spice I hadn't tasted before and didn't like. Love the ambiance of this restaurant. The inside had a ton of artwork that brought the place its uniqueness, one of a kind. The restaurant had this ancient, Mazatec with an Indian like vibe. I was wondering what took this place so long to open up, but it was totally worth the wait, I could see why. They displayed all the spices that they use up on the wall. I love when restaurants do this. They may not inform you of the secret recipes, but at least they give you a preview of the ingredients. I loved the majestic elephants on the wall for good luck. Good vibe meant good food. Presentation was perfect. Each platter came out delicious. The crispy cauliflowers were my ultimate favorite, I never thought sunflower seeds and cauliflower would go together, but the flavor was out of this world. Ordered the beet salad and added grilled shrimp. I was told there would be 5 shrimp. That seemed fair. I got only 4. I asked for utensils and a napkin. I didn't get any and there was supposed to be fried goat cheese but I didn't get any of that either. I realize they were closing between lunch and dinner, but then don't take the order if you're not going to get it right. Even when my husband went there to pick it up; the door was locked and it looked closed. He had to walk back to the car to have me call to see what was going on. The food was fresh but way too many mistakes for 1 salad. I needed the fork to eat it in the car but unfortunately didn't get one. So I had to wait to eat lunch until we got home. A really great Mediterranean restaurant, with great food. The decor and ambience of the place was also a plus! Appetizers: I ordered the Hummus, Labne, and the Turkish Ezme. Mezzas are 3 for $18 or $8 each. They were all great, but the Labne was my favorite. It was a thick yogurt spread that had just the right amount of tang. The Hummus was a little different than any other hummus i've had, as it had way more of a tahini flavor, but still delicious. Lastly, I got the crispy falafel which was tasty but nothing special. Entree: Moroccan Chicken Tajine & Braised Short Rib Pappardelle. The Pappardelle was my favorite, the sauce was DELISH and everything in the dish blended well together and oh so tasty. The Tajine was pretty good too but my only complaint was that the chicken was just slightly dry. Dessert: Tahini Ice Cream...this was INCREDIBLE. The tahini "shavings" just melts in your mouth. We came to Mezza for dinner last night for dinner. Usually, an upscale restaurant offers great or above average flavours for a high price. This rating is based on taste, which was average at best. Chicken kofta were minced meat balls - overcooked and chewy with mild flavour and very dry (please consider adding a more sauce to the dish), brussel sprouts were lightly seasoned and sautéed - forgettable, fish taco (with a small portion of fish in the pita pocket) was ok. Pitas were warm and soft but hummus tasted more like a peanut dip. I have eaten at multiple Mediterranean restaurants. Unfortunately, there are not many good Mediterranean restaurants in NJ. read more

Totally legit and upscale restaurant. Very fresh and flavorful ingredients. A bit pricey but totally worth it. I got the lemon chicken sandwich as well as the falafel sandwich platter. Both of them were exceptionally good and wouldn't hesitate to recommend both. Can't wait to try the many other items that looks so enticing on the menu. I should add that the Decour is quite nice and inviting and definitely more of an upscale experience than your typical restaurants in this area. read more

I felt compelled to review this popular new Israeli restaurant after several stellar take-out orders, a nice casual lunch dining experience and most recently, Sunday night family dinner. We arrived close to 6pm on a day you might expect it to be on the quieter side. Not so...by 6:30pm, 75% of the tables were filled. The popularity of Mezza reaffirmed my decision to make a last minute reservation on Open Table earlier in the day. We ordered the Israeli Bronzino tacos, crispy cauliflower and Persian shrimp to share. We had wanted to try the grilled octopus but they were out. Even so, the tacos were beautifully presented, a nice balance of acid in the Israeli salad with morsel of fish on mini round toasted pitas. The basket of fresh puffy pita is unlike most run of the mill pita. Highly recommend ordering some spreads to dip while you wait for your food to arrive. We shared the Moroccan chicken tagine, the seafood couscous and the sautéed Bronzino entree. So much flavor, generous portions, perfectly cooked...not one miss. Passing by our table, we noticed a tree like structure with what looked like fried beignets hanging like beautiful fruit. When we inquired we learned these were ricotta filled fried donuts served with a trio of dipping sauces. They looked scrumptious. Too full to indulge, we vowed to return soon to try them. The young servers try hard to please. The owner greeted us during dinner to ensure that all was to our satisfaction and to thank us for our patronage. Such a nice touch. We cannot say enough about Mezza...it is great for a quick lunch, solid take-out or dinner any night. We got in at 6 so it wasn't too crazy, but by the end of our dinner there was quite a wait. Even though we stayed for 2 hrs and the place was packed, our server never rushed us in any way. She was super sweet and we loved all her recommendations. Everything on the menu looked so good especially the appetizers, so we decided to order two along with a babaganoush and split an entree. We ordered the falafel, octopus appetizer, and Chicken tajin entree. The falafel was the best I've had. The babaganoush was on point served with warm pita. The octopus was also very good. The server highly recommended the cauliflower appetizer, but neither of us were feeling the cauliflower. However all her recommendations were so good, perhaps next time we will try. read more

The hummus excellent. I loved my Chicken Tajine. My husband's Grilled Skirt Steak came with a fantastic potato cake, but the brussels sprouts were terrible. Was it a $90+ dinner for the two of us? No. Three stars for solidly good but overpriced food.
