My First stop of my personal journey to find the best Pizza in the NYC (by Borough) starts at Full Moon pizza in the Bronx. (In order to find and determine the best pizza I will be ordering a Large Cheese pizza. I will not try and order the pizza parlors special combinations. A pizza could be judged by how fantastic their simple cheese pizza is). Now let me first start off by saying that Full moon pizzas are HUGE. The staff, when I ordered a large pie, looked at me like I was crazy and tried to warn me how big the pie was. Given that, I was surprised by how huge the pie was (however I did finish it in one sitting). Let's start the review with price. For an entire cheese pie, the price was 25.50. that's excellent considering one pie could feed 2-4 hungry people. The pizza was great. the sauce flavorful, not too much cheese to ruin the crust, sauce, and cheese ratio. The crust was crispy and a little chewy throughout the whole slice. So when you fold it, the slice did not flop. because of the crispiness of the crust, it held together folded throughout the whole process of eating it. The texture of the crust throughout the slice gave the eating experience a pleasure texture and enough contrast. The reason this pizza is not a 5/5 is that the crispiness of the crust is extended throughout the slice, so the end crust turned into almost a cracker crunch. It made the ends of the pizza (the crust) almost inedible to me. If you like your crust thin and crispy like a cracker, then this would be perfect, but I prefer eating a slightly crispy but chewy crust. This crust was too crispy at its end. Overall, a 4/5 more like a 4.3/5 if that was a rating on yelp. The ambiance is great. It's a local favorite in the little Italy section of the Bronx. Which a lot of other options in the area, this one stands out a little above the rest. A lot of Variety of slices and pies as well. A worthy slice and pie in the Bronx. IF you are looking for a local favorite, Full Moon check that box. (bonus: The Garlic Knots looked like a local favorite as well) . read more

This piece of pizza made my heart burst. I loved it more than words could express. The crust. The sauce. The cheese. The sausage. These are the 4 elements of the perfect pizza. When i first moved to this neighborhood, i couldn't find a good pizza spot. One day as i was roaming the neighborhood i saw her. She was beautiful. Exquisite. Breathtaking. A wonderful smell lured me towards her pizza. As i curiously opened the door, my nostrils were filled with even a more exquisite smell, the perfect pizza. This was my first time here. I got a slice of pizza and the meat Stromboli with mozzarella. The slice was really tasty, a little thinner then I'm used to but still delicious. Ordered dinner for the parents, to be sent via DoorDash. They've told me that this is their favorite pizza in the area, and they've always raved about the mushroom pizza and how despite the higher price, the slices they stop in to get, are well-made and well-topped. So while there are many other options in the area for pizza, I decided to pay more and order from here. I was not impressed with the Large Mushroom Pie. Slices seemed large indeed but the pizza itself as far as sauce, cheese and mushroom topping - were underwhelming. Also, they choose not to allow/accept any Special Requests or Notes on DoorDash. So while they have Sodas on the menu, there is absolutely no way to indicate which soda you want. They sent Pepsi, whether or not we had any choice. House Salad was standard, so again, on the higher side as far as price for something very basic. I know that they get great reviews, and my parents do enjoy it - but perhaps they're good with in-person, dine-in more so, and aren't as meticulous when it comes to delivered food. read more

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie..from Full Moon Pizzeria.. that's amore! Absolutely loved this pizzeria in the heart of little Italy. It felt so good to walk in here and catch up with the owner and parlare un po d'italiano with this paesano. The pizza pies are huge and the slices even huge-er! Loved how thin the dough is and all the delicious toppings to choose from. My favorite was the broccoli rabe one but there were endless options coming out. Warm plates also available. Loved to come here and grab a bite and just listen to Tiziano Ferro, Eros Ramazzotti and all these amazing artist on the radio while I stuff my face. I was really excited to try this place because I pass it all the time but I wasn't a fan. $6 for "specialty" slices. The white pizza had tomatoes on it which I didn't love. The issue with the slice was how mushy it was. The super thin crust also made it a bit challenging. The weight from all the mushy ricotta was just a bad mix. The spinach artichoke pizza was also a bust. There was soooo much spinach and then one big piece of artichoke. Again, no real seasoning to it and thing crust. I been eating pizza from Full Moon since I was a kid! Pizza slices were always big but they have definitely gotten bigger. The pizzera is rarely empty so that speaks to their great service all year round. It's a corner spot pizzeria. Cozy space inside despite at times being packed. It also has outdoor seating for the warmer weather. My favorite slices are the chicken slice, pepperoni and sausage, and no one can ever go wrong with a classic cheese slices. Full Moon Pizza is a New York-style pizzeria that opened up in the Bronx, New York in 1976. It is owned by the Petti Family, who immigrated to New York City from Nocera Inferiore, Italy around 1970. Located in the heart of the Bronx's "Little Italy" neighborhood, the eatery was originally home to the Half Moon Restaurant. When it was converted to a pizzeria in 1976, the name was changed to "Full Moon". Stan Petti bought the restaurant in 1978. His parents Jerry and Marie helped out in the kitchen and his sisters Nancy and Joanne worked as waitresses and counter help. The pizzeria immediately became popular with students at Fordham University. Aside from students and "Little Italy" locals, several celebrities have also stopped in the pizzeria over the years. Today, Stan works alongside his son Gerardo. In addition to their pizza, Full Moon also makes calzones, paninis, wraps, subs, pasta dishes, and various Italian entrees. My wife and I first visited Full Moon Pizza in December 2019. We were visiting the Bronx Zoo with some friends to see their Holiday Lights display. Afterwards, we were all pretty hungry so we decided to take a walk to Little Italy nearby. When we walked by Full Moon Pizza, we thought, "what about this place?" We walked in and the place smelled great. We looked over the menu and decided to split a large Buffalo Chicken pizza. Solid NYC style pizza. The slices are generous, the crust is crispy, and the cheese to tomato ratio is practically perfect. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's the best pizza in the city, but it's solid. I wish there was more herb or garlic flavor in the sauce. Also, I recommend getting the garlic knots. read more

Rolls: a surprising find, but delicious! We pointed at the things on the counter not knowing what they were. Turns out: they were rolls! $7 each. After a quick blast in the oven, the dough crunched up, the cheese was gooey, the generous heaps of meat and sauce were warmed through. Marinara sauce was a nice addition. We were deciding between these and the calzones, which also looked solid. We chowed down at the outside tables under the awnings: essential, because it was pouring! Something I love about Yelp is when you see good reviews online, and then go to the place IRL and it is seriously poppin'. I mean, who knew the place would be so busy at 3:30pm on a Wednesday?! The best pizza places I've ever had (anywhere in the world) are in Queens but Brooklyn and Manhattan and Bronx all have some pretty stand-up and potentially life-changing pizzerias, and this is well worth a try if you are in the neighbourhood. As a new student at Fordham University, I've been dying to find new places to eat near campus. After walking around the area with my dad, we found this place that a friend recommended to us awhile back. This little pizza place just a few blocks from school is amazing! There are tons of slices to choose from and everything tastes fresh. The grandma's pizza was by far my favorite. The sauce was the freshest sauce I've ever had. This place is a little bit expensive, but you should still check it out. I can definitely see myself being a regular here during my time at Fordham. read more

On recommendation from my buddy I stopped by for dinner during my work day. They a had nice long counter/display area with a myriad of pizza choices. There however was no plain cheese slices. I decided on a white slice and a chicken parm slice. The two slices and a bottle of seltzer were over $13. Not a bargain. We didn't eat there, so it was boxed up. About 10 min later the pizza was barely warm. The slices were a nice size. The white was delicious. The cheese and fresh tomatoes were really tasty and definitely hit the spot.
