I'm addicted. I go around 2x a week now. The service is friendly, fun & playful, and the owner definitely cares and it shows. The food is top notch. My favorite go-to is a rice bowl with medium spicy chicken, lettuce, onions, cucumbers, and tomatoes. First and foremost, I would tell potential customers to DSREGARD the comments from MikeP. The restauranteur makes every effort to be available for EVERY customer to voice their concerns during the visit or whenever there may be any issue at all. I am sorry, Mike, that you felt you could not approach Johnny. He is incredibly dedicated to his customers and I cannot fathom a reason that he would have discounted your concerns if they were at all valid. I urge you, Mike, or any existing or new customer.....if there is any concern at all.....ask for Johnnny if there is any way he can operate his successful business and meet your needs he will. Now, MOST IMPORTANTLY.... This is a unique restaurant with exotic flavours and individuals with character! There are dishes for every taste and heat level. It truly is as simple as 1-2-3! Really. If you have a fancy for any of the items in the display cooler, just ask. Their competent servers will guide you on whether that flavour/texture goes with your main selection, but they will certainly not dissuade you if you have your heart set on it. (I have pickles on my gyro, my kids cringe, but it is ohhhhsoooooo good!) Not only is the food incredible....as evidenced by the line-up of customers MORE THAN HAPPY to patiently wait for the new customer at the front of the line gettting a sample dish of all the flavours..... ((YES! A sample dish! Mezze prides itself on ensuring that all new customers have an opportunity to taste the flavours of the mediterranean before they make their selection. And, if it is not to your liking, just say so! Johnny and his team will make every effort to find what does tickle your fancy!)) ....But, in addition to great food, the atmosphere is cheerful and exhilarating. I was looking for a quick place to eat that was close and healthy and found Mezze. I had it delivered because I didn't have time to go get it. I was totally surprised at how delicious it was. I never expected it to be as delicious as it was. The shawarma chicken on top of the Greek salad was fresh along with the vegetables. I ate it two days in a row. I ordered take out for dinner last night and it was better this time than the first time. The portions are large to me so I eat mine over the course of two days. We had a coupon, otherwise we wouldn't travel this far north for dinner. The staff was lovely and when they discovered that we had never been there before they gave us a free sides sampler. Very tasty sides. Two types of rice dishes and then some dips and stuff. I actually filled up on the free samples. The falafel was just ok, I'm very very picky, having eaten falafel in the Middle East and also at what I consider to be the very best middle eastern in Columbus, the Pita Hut and Grille. I went for an early lunch with my girlfriend and Mezze was awesome! We were greeted by the owner and he explained the menu to us quickly before we ordered as it was our first time in. We were lucky enough to try a sample plate of hummus, baba, tzatziki, garlic sauce, and spicy feta - our favorites were the baba and spicy feta. The hummus was also amazing - super smooth! The owner was so proud of all of these incredible dishes and he excitedly informed me of the spices used in the rice (which by the way- there are two different kinds- one sweet and other savory). Excellent food and the staff are friendly. Everything is made to order and tastes fresh. I usually go with a Greek salad, extra gyro meat, and tzatiki sauce. It comes with flat bread and I'll sometimes get a side of hummus for that. It all tastes great. I like that you can customize your toppings (think Chipotle but with Mediterranean food) and there is a wide variety of choices between veggies, sauces, and meats. There's a huge spice pallet for all of the proteins as well. If you aren't familiar with the place you may want to look at the menu prior to your visit, just to get a grasp on what they have. I've seen new customers wait for ten minutes to read through everything. If needed the staff will ask you questions to figure out your tastes and make suggestions - they are extremely helpful and if you're new they will make sure you understand what you are ordering. The deserts are lovely, especially the Baklava. I've had a lot of Greek/Mediterranean food in Columbus and I have to say, Mezzee is an excellent choice. Highly recommended. read more
