My friend and I went here recently on a Monday evening for my birthday. I've heard great things about this place so I was excited. It's located in Inman Park and they have a parking garage right next to them (NOT validated though). The weather was quite pleasant and several people were enjoying their meals outside on their tables. We made a reservation at 6:30 pm and we arrived slightly later at 6:40 pm but we were seated without an issue at their half-booth section. The hostesses and the initial greeting were within 5 min of getting to the restaurant which I liked. The interior is beautifully decorated and possesses a classy ambience. The server greeted us and gave us time to think about appetizers and drinks. Her and I don't really drink but we did order two appetizers: the avocado balls with spicy salmon and the baked lobster tempura. The avocado balls had a truffle mousse which looked pretty but I couldn't taste it. It was mostly just avocado and spicy salmon flavor which is decent but nothing unique. Plus, the avocado balls were rather small. We both REALLY enjoyed the baked lobster tempura - they top it with nice flavorful sauces the the tempura has a beautiful crunch with a soft interior. For our entrees, we shared the cod, the toro osaka style box roll, and the sakemaki (salmon roll). The cod was really tender and the skin was prepared quite well with it being a bit more crisp with hints of smokiness. It's a smaller piece but really delicious. The toro osaka box style roll was disappointing. The toro was slightly fishy and overall the flavor profile was quite bland. The sakemaki was solid with fresh salmon - a classic as always. Overall, the service was quite fantastic. Our server was knowledge and made us feel comfortable and welcome. Omg! This place is a hidden gem. It is in Virginia Highlands tucked off the strip behind Bar Taco and Beetlecat. The ambiance and decor was a complete vibe. The food and cocktails were amazing as well. I had the soft shell crab tempura as an appetizer. My sushi selections were the spicy yellowtail roll and the spicy tuna roll. So yummy! THE OMAKASE IS SLAMMIN!! visited MF sushi for the first time and WOW what an experience! i decided to get omakase because so many people have said how amazing it is and it really is. the omakase means "chefs choice" so you leave it up to the chef to pick your dishes. the meal was outstanding with so many diverse dishes. all of the dishes were flavorful, fresh, and beautifully displayed. many of the things i likely wouldn't have gotten for myself but im glad i got to try them because i would for sure get them again! there really wasn't anything that i didn't like. yes, there were some things that i liked more than others but everything was truly fantastic! when i come back im not sure if i would get the omakase again just because it is pretty expensive. id probably order some a la carte items that were my favorites from the omakase. but if you haven't tried it, YOU NEED TO! it is a special meal so getting it every time might be a bit much but every once in a while would be great. i got the more expensive omakase which is $150/person. I'm assuming the cheaper one comes with fewer courses. parking is not too bad. there are a couple of garages around and it's not ridiculously overpriced. read more

Hands down, this is one of the best restaurants I've been to in Atlanta.... and I've been to my fair share! We made an OpenTable reservation for a late seating on a recent Friday night, before everything was fully open post-COVID. At that point, they were only seating every other table and leaving space between parties at the sushi bar. The space feels really large and upscale. I felt fancy even just sitting at the nice little sushi bar! It was quiet and intimate, very date-appropriate. Our server was attentive, answering lots of questions and giving great recommendations, but not disruptive. She was very sweet. We ordered the following on her advice: - Miso Soup ($3) - Baked Green Mussels ($11): mussels baked in Japanese mayo, eel sauce, masago, & scallion, served in-shell. These were definitely a highlight! Absolutely amazing! I'm typically not a spicy mayo fan as I feel like it just covers up the real flavor of whatever it's served on but that wasn't the case AT ALL with these. The server also let us know they do the same thing for scallops, and we'll definitely try those next time. - Snow Crab Tempura Roll ($18) - Uni Nigiri (MP): I MEAN... - Tako Nigiri ($11 for 2) Fresh-tasting sushi in manageable portions without all the fluff some restaurants use to disguise the quality of their fish? I had a reservation for Sunday at 630PM for a special occasion. They were very accommodating when I called a hour prior to ask if I had room for birthday balloons and if they could store my cake. The hostess assured me I had plenty of room, and I could even arrive as early as I like to set up, since we were the first group to occupy that table for the night. It was extremely helpful! Service was excellent. I cannot remember her name, but she was so helpful, and all of the recommendations she had were AWESOME. I didn't realize that you had to indicate that you wanted omakase on your reservation, so unfortunately our group wasn't able to do this option, but ordering a la carte was still great. The appetizer we tried were the baked scallops, and it was very very good! It's a small portion, so I only recommend sharing that between 2 people. We ordered almost all of the MF Signature Nigiri Sushi 2 Pieces. The standouts for the night were the Kampachi, O-toro and A5 Wagyu Beef. The Kampachi was soooo refreshing with the lime zest on time. We enjoyed this very much. Can't go wrong with O-toro and A5 Wagyu Beef. Those both melted in our mouths and were definitely the favorites of the night. We really didn't have anything we didn't like off this part of the menu, so I recommend it all. We also tried a roll from our waitress' recommendation. It was a piece of crispy rice topped with spicy tuna. It was SOO good. I loved it, and the rice was soooo awesomely crispy. I would definitely order this again. Since it was a birthday, they offered us a birthday mochi ice cream, so we really enjoyed that as well. Overall, this place exceeded expectations. Came here for a friend's 30th birthday celebration! There is parking available in the parking deck directly next to it, but it is PAID parking. You can also find other free parking options either on the side of the street or a parking deck across the street. It was relatively easy to find. The Inman Park neighborhood is so lovely and easy to walk around! So much going on and MF Sushi is tucked into its corners. The service here was good for such a large party that we had. We had two servers that were tending to our table and they did great at getting everyone's orders from drinks to apps to our main courses. The sushi itself was so YUMMY and "buttery" in our mouth (A GOOD THING!). All the sushi rolls, nigiri, and sashimi that we ordered was delicious and melted in our mouth. Wow. I am definitely impressed by MF Sushi and I want to go back and try more! So I went pretty close to closing, less than an hour before closing (11PM on the day we went). But they were still really accomodating. The decor inside is really beautiful and clean. Since we already had an early dinner, we were just looking for some small bites. The waitress knew the menu very well. She recommended us the Toro Osaka Style Box Roll. And the Lychee Martini as a drink. The Lychee Martini was sweet and delicious, but you could definitely taste the alcohol in it well. If you like drinks to mostly mask the taste of alcohol, then maybe try something else. But I thought it was beautiful with 2 lychees in it and it was so good! The toro box roll was INCREDIBLE. Hands down one of the best toros that I have had. I am still thinking about it. It had great, rich flavor, and the most wonderful buttery texture. My boyfriend isn't much of a fan of raw fish and he even liked it. We also got the Baked Scallops appetizer and I liked it as well. Scallops had a good texture but this dish is heavier as there is a lot of Japanese mayo! Overall, drinks, food, service, interior was all pretty good. I will do an updated review once I try more items here. But if you are a fan of Japanese cuisine, I would say you must try this place out. MF sushi located in Inman Park is neatly tucked away behind the main road at Highland Avenue. Behind feral cat, Bartaco, and char Korean grill, NF sushi is a great little sushi spot in Inman Park. The last time I visited I had social distancing and forced and I was able to get a seat at the sushi bar. My partner and I started off with some in-house cocktails and Prosecco. We were super excited to try the nigiri and we let the waiter choose for us which ones to eat. I don't exactly remember the names but there was one that was lemon-based that was incredible. We also had a very delicate yellowfin tuna nigiri that was fantastic. My partner got a Nintendo box which came with sushi rice grilled chicken and vegetables. It was the perfect combination and amount of food for him. I went with the lobster sushi roll And a California roll. The lobster roll was fantastic and the California roll was just as it should be. My wife and I came here on 1/7/23 to celebrate my bday. Upon looking at the menu I saw there was a Chef's omakase for 180/per person. Since it was a special occasion I asked the server if it was possible to accommodate. She told me I had to make a reservation to get that. I asked her if the Chef could still make it happen. She mumbled something under her mask which sounded something to the effect of she would see if they could accommodate. Dish after dish began arriving. Some were good. Some not so much. But my wife and I realized halfway through we weren't getting the Chef's omakase as the couple behind us as the sushi bar looked to be getting it and their dishes were completely different. So I asked the server at that point were we getting the Chef's omakase she quickly muttered no but that it was similar. HUH? The food just kept coming. I was so full I was disgusted. Barely any sashimi but the nigiri just kept coming. Finally she was cooking some steak which neither my wife or I could eat because we were so stuffed. At this point I realized the server was just picking dishes for us to add up to $360 worth of food. WTF!? Didn't ask what we like. Didn't ask what we want more of. Didn't clearly define for us that we weren't getting the Chef's omakase. So I ended up dropping $500 for some food I would've never ordered. Such a terrible experience. Based on a previous yelpers review it seems like this is common practice and it's called "servers choice". I never agreed for the server to pick me out $360 worth of food. This is so incredibly dumb. I emailed management on Sunday about my experience and never got a reply. Management could care less. Please if you're looking for sushi don't go here. There are too many better options in Atlanta. Absolutely wow! Ambience is PERFECT for a date night, even a first date! The interior design is upscale and modern, with dim lighting. Best part of the night was the service, we had the best server who was able to answer all our questions and make the perfect recommendations. You will find a very unique selection of cocktails that is suitable for any palate. We had the purple rain, which was just the right amount of sweetness and the aroma of honey was a great taste in the mouth. We also ordered the green seed, tequila and fresh kiwi, very yummy! Both cocktails came with a rose petal on top! Appetizers: the baked mussels were phenomenal, they are served warm and the topping mixture of Japanese Mayo, eel sauce, massif, and scallion perfectly complemented the mussel. The fresh yellow tail was thinly sliced with a hint of wasabi and lemon zest and cilantro that left a great finish in the mouth. Our favorite appetizer was the truffle aioli fresh salmon. No need to dip in soy sauce as it came plated with the right amount of nikiri sauce. The salmon WILL MELT in your mouth. If you want to try a fish in the fatty side, I would also recommend the sea trout. Entrees: If you are not picky about the fish type and want to try a variety, I recommend the signature dish which came with sake salmon, hamachi, Masai, kampachi, chutoro, and A5 wagyu beef. ALL SO DELICIOUS and no need to dip in soy sauce. You will be more than satisfied with the freshness of the fish and it is worth every penny. As for rolls, we ordered the spicy tuna crispy rice. If you are willing to try something less traditional this is the perfect roll. You still get the classic spicy tuna taste with a twist of crispy texture. The shrimp tempura and eel roll is filled with a very big shrimp tempura in the middle. The Negi salmon roll had salmon in the inside with tuna and yellow tail on top of the roll to give you that extra flavor. As we were sitting in the parking lot entrance trying, I said let's try the sushi spot . We did and boy was this place a pleasant surprise. This is the cutest little sushi spot & Oh my God the drinks were made by Patcha and she made an magnificent MF Manhattan & M.F. Lychee martini. We ordered drinks from the bar (which seat about 10) and we took our drinks outside to the wooden dining table/chairs to enjoy some sipping & girl talk. Really like this place. It's located close to the beltline. You either have to park on the street or there's a parking garage but they do not validate parking. It is a sushi place and they have amazing service. The menu is also excellent. I would say it's pretty overpriced for the serving size that you get. We tried a lot of things on the menu including a few drinks which were amazing. We also tried the wagyu beef which is extremely expensive (expected) and very good. I'm just not sure why everything else is so expensive. The portion sizes are smaller than expected and I would say for the food flavor and size it is very overpriced. You're expected to wear mask when you're not eating or sitting at a table and they attempt to social distance but obviously cannot all the time. It's very clean in there. Their dessert selection is smaller but good. Overall I had a very nice time. The service was amazing and the drinks were really good. First time here! We came here for our anniversary dinner. We had a reservations that were ready exactly as reserved. The hostess even wished us a happy anni. When we were sat she got us waters. It was busy, but our server was MIA for about 10 minutes. Once she got to us she was attentive. I got two cocktails which were really good! We got 4 rolls. Shrimp tempura. Avocado roll. MF Sushi reopened in Atlanta in Inman Park in May 2015. It's part of a happening scene with neighboring restaurants like bartaco, BeetleCat, Char, and Bread & Butterfly. I was a fan of the original MF Sushi in Midtown (2002-2011). I thought they had some of the best, freshest, and highest quality sushi in Atlanta. I also remember MF Buckhead (2007-2012) with its huge, swanky digs and sexy staff. Due to financial problems, MF disappeared from Atlanta, but only for a few years. The owners, brothers Alex and Chris Kinjo, are back. In addition to MF Sushi in Inman Park, they're behind MF Bar and District 3 at Avalon and Anh's Kitchen in Midtown. MF stands for sushi chef Chris' nickname, "Magic Fingers." The Japanese restaurant scene in Atlanta has grown since MF's early days. There's more competition especially when it comes to high-end sushi. The standards have risen. With so many superb options like Brush, O-Ku, and Umi, MF doesn't stand out like it used to. Still, it's in the upper tier of Atlanta sushi restaurants and a very good to great sushi experience can be had here. One thing that's set MF apart and characterized it is its style. The restaurants have always been stylish and trendy. The design of the place is alluring and exquisite. The staff fit the mold as they're generally attractive and good-looking. Admittedly, this gives off a sort of "see and be seen" vibe that some may see as pretentious. Past the pretense, however, is some legitimately good sushi and outstanding service. MF's dinner menu features Japanese soups and salads, sunomono (vinegar-based raw salads, $5-9 each), over 20 appetizers ($6-18 each) including items like tempura and tataki (seared/marinated raw fish), over 30 kinds of nigiri ($5-11 or market price for 2 pieces) and sashimi ($11-17 or market price for 4 pieces), MF signature nigiri ($9-11 or market price for 2 pieces), 16 kinds of special sushi rolls ($15-25 per roll), makimono (traditional rolls, $6-12 each), robata-grilled items such as eggplant miso ($8-14 each), cooked seafood and meat dishes like black cod and duck breast ($13-29 each, except for the $75 A5 wagyu toban yaki), and mochi ice cream desserts ($7 each). MF's drinks are a big seller and in addition to beer, wine, and champagne, they have a decent sake selection which contains some top-shelf junmai daiginjo varieties. We had the omakase (chef's choice multi-course dinner) which is priced at $125 per person. I enjoyed MF's omakase. It was very good, but it wasn't as jaw-dropping to me as other omakase (and kaiseki) dinners I've had in Atlanta. With the exception of the mozuku, every item prepared for us could be found on the regular menu. Not that that's a bad thing, but I was expecting a bit more of an element of surprise; to try something new or different. Overall, the fish was fresh, the food flavorful, and there wasn't a single bad dish. My favorites were the nigiri. As you can see from the descriptions above, MF puts their own spin on traditional nigiri, adding ingredients like truffle soy, similar to Eight Sushi and other places. The result is some terrific tasting nigiri. The sashimi (2 pieces of each type of fish per person) was wonderful. The baked lobster and green mussel dishes, along with the Chilean sea bass, were quite rich. I liked how the mussels were chopped and placed back into their shells. While fine, the A5 wagyu was more chewy and tendony than I anticipated. Finally, I think there could have been a better attention to detail. For example, the yolk in my mozuku was served broken. At this price point, that shouldn't happen. Our omakase dinner lasted about 3 hours. While they look nice, MF's chairs aren't comfortable because they lack lower back support. Marjorie was our server and she did an excellent job. Alex came to check on us multiple times. If you can't find free parking on the street, you'll have to park in Inman Quarter's parking deck. I overheard someone's order messed up next to us and they jumped in quickly and rectified. The calamari is VERY good. It's not as large as most places but very good. The soshito peppers also really good. Didn't like the sauce that came with the peppers. The sushi we tried were the eel role and Shrimp tempura with eel both very good. VERY extensive omakase, especially for the price tag ($125). Great enoki / mushroom thing with quail egg to open followed by numerous sashimi apps in the beginning (liked both the salmon aioli and jalapeño hamachi). 9 pieces of nigiri (all high quality) - standouts included torched hamachi belly, otoro, king medai (red snapper), king salmon, anything with uni. Speaking of was really impressed by the amount of uni I received (I also had an app that was otoro with uni on top). Black cod after nigiri was very good. To finish the protein portion, I got an otoro handroll, which was out of this world. 3 different flavors of mochi ice cream (red bean, green tea, mango) sealed the deal! Excellent service - chefs very friendly and also did fun things like put gold flakes on some pieces. Took my girlfriend here for a meal and mate it's top draw. We sat at the sushi bar "I recommend this". She got the 125 tasting menu I got the 150. We were both hungry so were ready to go in. Lol.. we couldn't finish all the food. I didn't count but its about 8-10 courses with a filet steak at the end then desert so about 10. ITS ALOT OF FOOD!!! Came here twice. Once I did the omasake menu. Was going to burst by the end it was so much food. ALL delicious. It was hard to stop eating it, so totally worth the cost which was about $125 Walked in alone and sat at the sushi bar on a Sunday was no wait time and had another lovely sushi meal. read more

One of the better things I've ever put in my mouth- Fatty tuna melts in your mouth residues a kick of the jalapeño; avocado balls were astonishingly creamy and flavorful, positive that I can inhale a bucket of these with no soy sauce; Lobster crunch roll was delicately delicious and predictable; Got a couple of more dishes on the menu but my lychee martini kicked in so the memory was blurry left the palate on speed, I mean on steroids. 5/5 sexy ambiance with sophisticated yet casual friendly vibe Unpopular opinion: better than UMI read more
