Hubby was craving menudo. He found this on Yelp and decided to try it. Arrived Mother's Day morning and the place was nearly empty, but we arrived kind of early because people started to pour in shortly after we arrived. He ordered menudo with the pigs foot and I ordered the chilequilles(?). Mine was yummy, yummy. Hubby thought the Bowl of menudo would've been larger though. He didn't want to add more than chili flakes and a little cilantro & onions because he didn't want to mask the flavor of the broth. It was delicious! A local Mexican restaurant. It's a typical beach side restaurant that as a local I want to support. So, I called ahead and ordered Menudo. I typically just drive over and wait. Sometimes they get my order right, sometimes they forget the corn tortillas. I called, I'm working from home but I wanted my fix of menudo. I get there and no one is there. Apparently there is only one staff member working the lunch shift on a quiet Saturday at 1 pm on May 9th. Another woman was ahead of me but got tired of waiting and left. I waited patiently because I like their menudo, but only to find out that even though he confirmed Menudo on the phone he not heard soup. The person in the kitchen misgendered me and not having my order ready. This not a great local place and not LGTBQ friendly. And neither employee bothered to apologize. I do not recommend! You lost not just my business but my friends as well. read more

My husband and I were in Morro Bay for a few days and got in a little later than we normally would. Restaurants here typically close earlier than most so our options were limited but I'm so glad we got to try this spot. The food was yummy! I got a burrito and my husband got enchiladas. We also got jalapeño poppers that were heavenly and the ranch was so good! And when you ask for extra (like sour cream) they really do give you extra! The albondigas soup was good as well - flavorful broth and packed with all the yummy veggies, I just wish they gave more meat. I can't speak for the inside or the service other than the cashier (who was friendly) since we got our food to go and ate in our hotel room. Either way - we'll definitely be back. read more

There weren't a ton of restaurants open on Christmas Eve, so we landed on Mi Casa. Super welcoming staff, and cute little spot. Got a strawberry margarita, which wasn't the strongest in booze or flavor, but did the job. I got the two item with a cheese enchilada and a shredded beef taco, while my sister got 2 enchiladas. My sister demolished hers, whereas I thought mine was good, but I got too full to want to finish it. Nothing life changing but a solid Mexican spot, and would probably try the tamales next time, since I could hear the neighboring table hyping those up. read more

They have moved to another location, where Lola's used to be on Main Street in North Morro Bay. I miss them at their old location, which was within walking distance of my home. Great, very tasty food, not expensive and very friendly. I've had about half the menu by now and have not been disappointed yet by any of the dishes. The chile relleno is my go to to test the kitchen and the get straight A's on them, the chile verde another winner and same with their burritos, no matter what time you go there's always someone there enjoying the food. First time here after reading some local reviews and Mi Casa did not disappoint! This Michelada was Ahmazing! Our waitress, Daisy brought this beauty with a perfect rim! Tasted great too-had to verify for review purposes-which is why there is a gap! Food was super-albóndigas soup is so good. We had the beef Enchiladas Suizas and Carne Asada nachos w/jalapenos. We had heard that Mi Casa took over the location previously housing Lolo's, but we hadn't been to either place so we decided to give it a try. Overall, it was ok but it didn't blow us away. Here are our takeaways: - The inside is cute, with typical Mexican restaurant decor. - As others have mentioned, they charge you $2.50 for chips and salsa, even though they don't ever mention it (it just shows up on your bill). - Menu is pretty comprehensive with all the typical Mexican restaurant fare. - My wife and I split both the fish tacos (which comes grilled, with sides of rice and beans) and the Veggie Burrito. The tacos were the best tasting; the rice and beans were pretty average though. The Veggie Burrito really seemed to be lacking something...I asked for some salsa since it only came with guacamole but that didn't help enough. Part of the issue may have been the chili relleno which was inside it, which was heavily breaded with little visible cheese. Whatever the issue, it lacked flavor for sure. - We only had water to drink so we can't comment on their Margaritas. - Service was good, attentive and not rushed. Bottom line: We can check Mi Casa off the list of places to try. Sadly, it won't be on our list of places to go back to. read more

The food here is always great--hot, fresh, and delicious--and it keeps me coming back. But the service really needs attention. It took 22 minutes just to get water, and 45 minutes to receive the food I ordered. The server seemed completely checked out--maybe she was on break, but the entire experience felt disorganized and inattentive. If there's a suggestion box, I'd absolutely put this in--because I genuinely love the food here. I just wish the service and staff management could match the quality of the kitchen. This place has so much potential. I'll keep coming back for the food, but I really hope the service improves soon. read more

*AMAZING SALSA ALERT!!** We've been wanting to try Mi Casa and finally did ourselves the favor of overeating here. My son devoured his "Morro" burrito and said he loved it. Without shame I will save I love a really good crispy ground beef taco and this was the best damn taco I've had on the central costa!! The cheese enchiladas and rice were fantastic. We wanted Mexican food this afternoon and thought to try this place. The four star average is accurate as our meals were basically okay. My chili verde was tasty and spicy, the refried beans just okay but the rice was dry and not fluffy. The albondigas soup seemed homemade which was a plus. The best part of the meal were the chips and salsa and I noticed later a $2.50 charge for them. We weren't informed about that when we sat down to order. Oh well, live and learn. read more

My sister and I were looking for a new spot to try out in Morro Bay and we came across the Mi Casa restaurant. The menu was posted outside by the main entrance and they have good options so we made our way inside which was a bit dim. The staff were friendly, our server(I didn't catch her name, I'm sorry) was friendly and continuously checked on our table. I ordered the chile verde omelette with potatoes, it was delicious and the perfect portion. I do wish it was a bit more spicy (I love spicy foods) but she did bring a hot sauce/salsa which definitely hit the spice meter, she recommended to mix with the mild and which even out that spice. My sister ordered the chilaquiles w/beans, they only have the red sauce option but I hope they'll eventually add the green sauce option. The flavor was there, the crunch of the chips was a nice sound, it comes with scrambled eggs, though it could use a bit less eggs and more tortilla chips. We do wish the chips were a bit thicker. As for drinks I ordered the horchata, which hit the spot and sis stuck to water. We also saw a sign for fresh tamales so if you're looking for to eat delicious tamales the holidays, call them and make that order! As more tables filled up and we finished our meals, we saw some their regular customers making their way in and the server already knew their orders. The service was friendly and reasonably good. The food was not great. Chips and salsa were good. The shrimp dishes were also pretty good. The pork tamale was so bad as to be inedible. It wasn't just that it was very dry, it also had a really off flavor that was nasty. The beans were bland but ok. The Spanish-style rice had a weird flavor. The shredded beef taco was ok after adding some of the salsa to it. Flour tortillas were flavorless - tasted like store-bought. The corn tortillas are definitely purchased and mass produced. Totally flavorless and a bit stale. There are probably a few things that are reasonably good to get and if you only stick with them you might be ok. It would be a bit of a minefield until you figure out what they are. read more

As a Mexican reviewing this... This was a disappointment. First of all, there was no Music playing. It was awkwardly quiet. Second of all I didn't like the fish tacos I had. No lemon on the side. And cheddar cheese does not go or taste good on fish tacos. The rice was dry. The beans were not enough. My friend had the enchiladas and she wasn't impressed either. My other friend got nachos and they had black olives. That is nasty and does not go with nachos. Jalapeños would of been a better choice. The salsa isn't hot enough. The restaurant is very small and has a homey type of vibe. It was very busy and the parking lot is small so you may have to park on the street. Not recommended for large parties. I ordered the combo of three items an enchilada a taco hard and a chile relleno. The enchilada and taco had shredded beef and they were decent I just feel that the enchilada should have had some cheese on top of it. The chile relleno was not very good this had a different type of coating on the outside of it it was similar type of masa it was thick not flavorful but the chile inside was with the cheese it was tasty but that is not the typical type of coating you would put on a chile relleno so I had to peel it all off and just eat the chili with cheese. Service was quick the rice and beans were tasty and authentic style. The chips and salsa were good but the salsa is not hot at all I ordered the guacamole with chips and that was good it had a few tomatoes in it with onions it was a large serving for an appetizer. read more

I went to their old location a few times uptown, it's been pretty decent as far as service and the quality of the food. Their new location has been a big hit. Service is always good. All their dishes are spectacular, probably one of the best Mexican food restaurants here in Morro Bay, but I do like Taco De Mexico. Even though it's not full service there, it's a great place with awesome prices. The only reason I'm giving them four stars is they used to give chips and salsa for free, now they just ask you if you want chips and salsa and they add on an extra $2.50 and it is unlimited chips and salsa. But they should let you know for an extra charge of $2.50. I hate surprises when it comes to your tab. This place will always be my go to place for sit down Mexican food. Their lunch specials are under $10. And of course I always appreciate the family run business. Mother and son are always there working together. You gotta love them. Please train your staff to let your customers know that there's additional charge for chips and salsa now. When you do, I'll delete this post and give you guys a five star. read more
