But could have a few more nuggets of pork..refried beans was also short on beans . More like a dolup of bean soup with a lack of beans. Rice was tasteless and also sparse. This is the second time coming here despite living very close. For one reason or another, I kept forgetting to come here and would go to another well-know Mexican place nearby. I am so pleased we came here this time. The food is so much better than at the other spot. We had the chile relleno, chile rojo and flan. We also ordered margaritas. The beans and rice were very good and we really liked the chile rojo. The chile relleno was also pretty good. I absolutely enjoyed the flan. Service was very good and I really liked the intimate booths and the music. My husband also appreciated that they were showing the football game. Will be coming back for sure! read more

As usual, the food was excellent, I just had a chili reneno , cameronies y bacon and classic enchiladas! This is a classic middle class (the best kind) Mexican restaurant and I am sure happy I found it! The Margaritas are better than most, really good! And the food is really special. Everything since I first discovered it during the Pendemic, has been about great food. They tie for best in class for their Margaritas (With El Sol, in Montrose). My vote (again) as the top Mexican restaurant in the area. I have tried EVERYONE ELSES' "Chili Rellenos", and in my book, this is the best I have found, [in fact], by far!!! Also, the 'bacon wrapped shrimp', is simply sinful, as is the "Queso Fundido". They got the "Chile Verde" down, (just like they serve it in New Mexico). I'm not really a drinker but OMG, the "Cadillac" Margarita, should be illegal in the State. You can't stop at one, (I mean "I" can"t). The servers are as good as any, and for ambiance, well I'll tell you,...IT'S in Sunland!! Came by for dinner a couple weeks ago as my family had been before and raved about their flan. I knew I had to come try and was not disappointed. Wasn't too busy and were quickly seated. Big menu with lots of options. We ordered: Drinks: mango, peach, and strawberry frozen margaritas- delicious! Dinner: nachos, taquitos, carne asada, enchilada plate, and tortilla soup - no complaints and no leftovers! Dessert: flan of course and it was perfect! Great service very happy to have came out here to enjoy this authentic Mexican food! I got the mole when I tell you it was amazing literally almost licking the sauce of the plate! My husband got the carnitas it was so good no lime or salt needed the flavor was all there! Flan was alll mine didn't want to share( it's enough to share) lol highly recommend staff was amazing kind felt like we were in a home! Music was great as well! My friend introduced me to this pace and she loves to come support this family restaurant, especially so since the Pandemic. The staff is very personable, professional and efficient and the food is always fresh and flavorful. The menu isn't huge and they have the mail staple Mexican dishes, but they also have some of their own that's keeps it unique. Parking is around the corner in a lot and it's not behind the restaurant, but there is plenty of parking. read more

A few co workers and I came here for lunch during work and was told great things about this place. Tucked away in sun land is this old town feel restaurant. With a menu with plenty of pictures it was easy to order. The staff and the food were good. My co-workers and I sat down and ordered the same thing, the carne asada y enchilada and let me tell you in my opinion is the best thing on the menu. The food came out hot and fast. The food is excellent. The meat, really tender and the enchilada cheesy. The rice and beans good. The chips and salsa that they bring to the table also very good. We've come back here a few time and placed the same order to go. Overall the place and the food is really nice. If you come too late you might have to wait in line but it's well worth the wait. This place is a nice hole-in-the-wall! The food was great and the vibe was fun. We ordered the birria plate, a sope (a-la-carte), an enchilada (a-la-carte) and one horchata and one cherry coke. Customer service was good and there was always someone checking up on our table. I docked one star for a few reasons. They provided chips and salsa, which was great! However, the salsa was lacking flavor. It tasted watered down, I'm sorry to say. Also, it seemed like everything was portioned out. For example, my birria plate came with a quarter of a lime with it. Not even half a lime. That's it. The horchata also tasted a bit watered down and they do not allow refills. They charge you $3.50 per refill after your first one. My plate also came with handmade tortillas, but only came with two. I was a bit disappointed, and I wish they were a bit more generous with the drink refills and tortillas. I liked it but wished everything wasn't so portioned out. I think I will definitely be returning, though. It's down the street from my church and the prices are reasonable. My wife and I eat here often, there are new management here and the food tastes really good. My wife usually orders either the fajitas or the Tostada. I like getting the tacos and or the Pineapple that is cut in half long ways and gutted and then filled with chunks of pineapple and shrimp and onions and chicken and cheese, this dish is really good. Love the salsa! We were hungry and our friends took us to this little place for dinner. We were not greeted with much warmth upon entering, but we were seated quickly on a Saturday night. The server named Jose was not very warm or friendly, and it felt like we were disturbing him. We did get the feeling after several interactions that he was warming up, as we made it our goal to see if we could change his mood. I ordered the pineapple shrimp fajitas and it was really good. Cheesy and flavorful. Everyone enjoyed their food, and after awhile Jose was much better. Good thing, as our friend who lives close was at first saying he would never come back because of the server. Ordered take out on New Year's eve and was pleasantly surprised. Tried the fajitas, albondigas soup, and the fries. The fajitas were tender which made me really happy. I was expecting it to be rough given that we got it to go but that wasn't the case. The albondigas soup was tasty but I have to say the fries made my night. Street parking on Foothill can be a bit spooky, but there's almost always a spot. There are four tables on the back patio for dine-in, or you can order takeout. I've ordered the Burrito Mexico twice now, and both times they've left out the avocado, which comes in the dish per the menu. But it's just so dang delicious that I can't drop a star. The service is great, the portions are huge, and the ingredients are quality. Make sure to add rice to your Burrito Mexico -- it's worth it! The best part of our experience today was that our server brought out a new basket of fresh, hot chips before our first one was empty. First let me say the reason I go back is because the food is good, but the service not so good. No matter the day or time seems like we always have to wait at the door to be seated and there's never anyone there to greet you. So we stand there waiting and hoping to flag someone down. Customer service overall needs improvement, last time we were there we felt that our waiter was not in a good mood and it was uncomfortable. Wow! We been going to MiCasitas for years! For that reason alone I gave it 2 stars and not one Has always been an "ok" restaurant. Not great, but not bad either. However, this time was a major let down. Went there on a Wednesday evening. Only one server in the entire place and he was also the only busboy, the only bartender and possibly the only cook! WTH! This guy was slammed to say the least. Got seated and then waited for several minutes before we were even able to order drinks. When he did drop by, we took the opportunity to order our dinner as well and waited...and waited...finally after several more minutes, we got our drinks, water, chips and salsa and then waited for several more minutes. Just as we were preparing to pay the tab and walk out, the food arrived. We ordered the same thing but it looked like whoever prepared the food put all the meat from both orders on to one plate and all of the rice and vegetables onto the other. The food was fair at best. Rice was mushy and a bit slimy and the rest of the dish looked to be covered with a mystery sauce that sloshed around in the tortilla like old soup. As we tried to enjoy our dinner, we listened to several of the other customers discussing the terrible service, food and overall poor quality of the entire experience. When we carefully inquired as to the sticky tables, the really bad service and the food, the waiter just shrugged it off like this is the new normal for the place. We let him know we felt bad for him to be alone in the restaurant, but he acted like this is the norm. I am hoping that the stars aligned for that one terrible experience at Mi Casitas but listening to the other patrons it seems like ownership has lost interest in their beloved restaurant and is letting it flounder. Not giving up hope and we will try it again before we write it off as yet another local establishment that not interested in staying afloat. Mi Casitas, get your act together! read more
