NICE LOCAL PLACE FOR TAKE OUT ============================ I was dying for some carnitas street tacos last week and decided to pick some up on my way to Deukmejian Wilderness Park. I should have studied the menu a bit more because I accidentally ordered two taco de carnitas. These also contained sour cream and guacamole in addition to the pork, cilantro and onions. They were good, but I think I prefer them the street taco style. Service was good. I was a bit leary after reading someone else's scathing review. Everyone was nice, so it's good to read a lot of reviews. Some Yelpers may be a lot more high maintenance than others lol. read more

Los Padilla has your typical street taco menu and for the most it's okay. I ordered an Al Pastor Burrito and taco along with a carne asada taco. The flavor was great but the burrito was more rice than meat. For $21 bucks there shouldn't be so much filler. Everything here tastes homemade and full of flavor, but the asada torta is on a whole different level -- easily the best I've ever had in my life. I wanted to try something new with my brother, and we found this place on yelp. According to yelp, this place offers home made tortillas. The home made tortillas at Tacos 1986 were the best I've ever had, and I was hoping this place would be as good. The tortillas here are only ok. 8 chicken tacos with the home made tortillas cost almost $38 and were they as good as Tacos 1986? No, but they were still good. My biggest complaint is the salsas here only come in green and red. The red salsa is way too hot. This place is good, but I don't think I'm coming back. read more

The Tujunga / La Crescenta / La Canada area has been in need of a good Mexican food spot for a long time. That ends with this place. We have restaurants in the area that are along the lines of generic Mexican sit down restaurants - with the average meat, beans, and rice plates. However, this is the spot to go to for delicious tortas, quesadillas, and street tacos - similar to what you would get at a good taco truck that's made a name for itself. Quesadilla: great ratio of cheese, meat, and onions/cilantro. Also, NOT oily like most places. Torta: delicious and filling. I'm not a fan of refried beans but in this one, the mixed tastes churn out a great result. So no complaints. Tacos: I had their fish taco and asada street tacos. Both bomb. Salsa: nothing amazing but both the green and red sauces complement the tacos nicely. Keep up the great work! read more

Don't let the unassuming exterior. Taqueria Los Padilla has some of the best Mexican food in the area. I went to get my tires changed next door and had some time to kill. The kitchen and dining area are very clean and the server is very friendly. I went with a Burrito de asada that was very big. The salsa verde was the best thing about it for me. You know I devour the taco bowl at Trump Tower, but when I'm out west and want absolutely stunning Mexican food, Los Padilla is always our first stop. The staff is so graceful, so beautiful, so welcoming. The handmade tortillas - amazing, I can't even talk about the carnitas. My secret service agents...they'd come to me with tears in their eyes, saying, "Thank you Mr. President, we've never had asada this good." I came here once and had a little issue and vowed never to come back so like a stubborn idiot I boycotted this place and went all over Sunland, Tujunga, La Crescenta, and even a tip of Sylmar looking for a decent taco. There were some ok places but they weren't consistent. A year later a friend of mine told me this place was good so I gave it another shot. It's right next to Dollar King so if you blink while driving you'll miss it. I will say the quality of meat they use is excellent. Their tacos are a bit pricier than a food truck but they're totally worth it. I mean I get it, they have overhead. The carne asada was all meat and ZERO fat or gristle. The flautas were good and that's all I've tried. Next on the list is the chile relleno burrito. The cashier is friendly and the service was pretty quick. Will definitely be back as this is my new go to spot for Mexican, unless I want beer and a Margarita, then I'll have to go to Acapulco's in Glendale. lol If you wanna know what the tiny issue was, Inbox me. ;) read more

I stopped by this place since it was highly reviewed on Yelp. I walked in and was pleasantly greeted by the young lady behind the counter who was juggling multiple task. She took down my order and we exchanged pleasantries. She said it would take about 10 min to prepare the order. I looked around the restaurant, there were between 5 - 6 tables with some guests in the restaurant. There was some cool tunes playing in the radio. They were very busy. I stepped outside to make a call. There is a parking lot that they share with the dollar king store. Within no time was order was ready. My order was well wrapped and placed in a brown bag. After reaching home I ate my taco AlPastor. The tacos were good and double wrapped. It came with a side Of sauces and 2 wedges of lime and some radish. I wish the radish were pickled. Overall the food was good. I wish the meat would were diced a bit vs the chucks. I would try out this place again. read more

Tacos are definitely small for the price, but the food is good quality. $9 for two small tacos! :( but like I said, the quality is good. If you want bang for your buck, probably should go find a taco truck ;) I tried the Taco de Alambre and Taco de Pescado Empanizado. I actually didn't care for the Alambre taco, which surprised me because it had bacon and bacon makes everything amazing. I don't need to get that taco again. It was just bland imo. The Pescado taco was the main show. Damn that was a good taco. Next time I come, I'll just get three of those tacos. Definitely recommend the Taco de Pescado Empanizado. Salsas are delicious and the homemade tortillas are excellent! Very friendly restaurant, I'll come back and try something else :D read more

Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. I was hoping to find some good rolled tacos ( flautas at Padillas although they are still corn tortillas). Unfortunately they inexplicably put large tomato slices on top rendering all the flautas soggy. Sorry, it can't be "authentic", nobody wants soggy flautas. Great place for tacos, nothing extraordinary but still pretty good. Came here and got the taco platter and was pleased to know I could sub the retried beans for another helping of rice instead (especially since I'm not much of a refried beans person) and got all the tacos with chicken. I also ordered a churro with cajeta sauce (an extra $0.50), which I was kinda shocked that the price for one churro with sauce would be $3.25. The tacos were pretty good, the chicken had flavor but tasted pretty clean without tons of fat or heaviness. I was a little disappointed that the salsa didn't taste fresh as I expected it to. The churro was good but the size was a regular sized churro and the cajeta was also prepackaged and not fresh at all, but I mean you can fry anything and put powdered sugar on it and I'll eat it anyways. read more

My Spanish is poor but I think Los Padilla means dinner is covered with a delicious sauce. A bit of a hole in the wall but still clean and neat. They do a booming carry out business. We've eaten here about 6 times in the last two years. Never disappointed. Most of the dishes don't look like the traditional Mexican food. In fact I wouldn't be surprised to be corrected that this isn't Mexican food. I rarely post photos from a Mexican dish since they never seem to look good in digital media.
