Goodness me. First time, not the last. Friends highly recommended this place since they've been coming here for 20 years - and it's legit. The service is outstanding - the minute we walked in we were greeted with a smile. No other customers there yet (they flooded in about 10 min after), and the gentleman at the counter helped us choose what's good! I got the vegetarian burrito which was huge, fresh and I was happy that it wasn't overly salty. Husband got the enchiladas pollo with green sauce and he loved it, especially with the two sauces that were brought to our table. Red = SPICY. Green = good kick, more sour. Chips and salsa were fresh along with the accompanying salsa. I was fully immersed in the decor - colorful, clean, plenty of tables, and candle merch that I enjoyed looking at - like, The Shut Up candle! We look forward to coming back with family and friends! What a nice spot, my wife and I went today for lunch and it was delicious. We got the shrimp tostadas, as well as trying the carne asada, carnitas, and pastor tacos. First time here and I really liked this little Mexican food restaurant! It kind of reminds me of a Rodeo Mexican Grill in Echo Park. It has (wet) burritos, tacos, enchiladas, menudo, fried fish, etc. and a salsa bar. I got the fried fish and it was huge and very meaty on both sides. It also came with 3 flour or corn tortillas. I will def get this again! The menudo was also good. The sauce they provide on the side is actually surprisingly spicy--and don't get me wrong, I love spicy... but this was SPICY. Hahaha so watch out. :) They also give you chips and salsa for free while waiting for your meal. That's a total win for me. read more

Little gem Mexican restaurant. We always order from Pena's tacos but they were closed so gave a try at El Mariachi Loco and was fire. This place was really really good I can probably say better then Pena's. Ordered asada torta extra toast on bread they lacked on that but the toppings and the asada meat was flavorful good quality meat not chewy. One torta will get you full. Ordered chicken torta also very flavorful and one torta will get you full. Al Pastor tacos was also really good very good flavored marinated. I will be back to try some burritos they also have a Vampiro have to try that next time. read more

When in Rome do as the Romans do. One of my favorite things about Los Angeles is the Mexican culture and the gift of their cuisine. While running some errands in the area I found this place on Yelp. Pretty typical of a family owned Mexican restaurant. A bit warm inside as the air conditioning was on but not working very well. Overall clean but a bit disheveled in some capacities. Two small children running all over the place apparently unsupervised until mom came out after what seemed like forever. I'm sympathetic to understanding having to have your children with you at work but perhaps keep an eye on them when there's customers inside and in general. I decided to go with some tacos, 1 each of the following: El Pastore, Carnitas, Carne Asada, and Pollo Asada. Street tacos, small with onion, cilantro, and hot salsa. El Pastore was solid , nice spicy with just enough sweet, Carnitas was decent but didn't blow me away , Pollo Asada was tasty but a bit dry , and lastly and their strongest of what I tried the Carne Asada was tasty a nice char and a well balanced flavor. I washed it all down with a Diet Coke and felt over all a decent experience. As I love to Yelp I began to snap photos to which I was asked why I was doing so to which I informed them with a smile "For Yelp " they asked if I had a card.... " no, I just love to Yelp" Sorry guys in this day and age we Yelpers can either be your best ally or worst enemy. Good folks , perhaps just an off day. I got the carne asada burrito and was disappointed. I'm not usually picky specially when it comes to supporting local businesses. BUT the asada in the burrito was too salty. That wasn't it, the rice in the burrito smelled and tasted like it was more than 4 days old. I thought it was just me so I had two more bites prior to my last one but no the rice just tasted OLD! the beans in it were ok.The only good thing was the green salsa. Not spicy but good However if you use your card to pay they charge you a extra $1 without letting you know, I didn't care about the extra dollar but they don't tell you about it. read more

I don't give up fives very often. But this place blew me away. I've seen this restaurant many times and look like any other Mexican restaurant. Today one of my friends made me go in there for dinner. I ordered the Chile relleno plate and my friend had a burrito. I only spent around $18, which these days it's a bargain free meal like this. Specially for two items that come in, big portions. I also forgot to add that my plate came with homemade tortillas. When I saw the tortillas I knew this place was going to be amazing. I have never had Chile rellenos that come with onions and grilled peppers on top. My plate came with two chiles and Some of the most tasty red sauce I have ever had on top of them. You can definitely taste spices and seasonings in the sauce it self. I was not expecting the size that I got for only $11. This is not to include the fact that this was the best chili relleno I have ever had. All I was eating my dinner, It was in explosion of flavors in my mouth. It was seriously a home-cooked dinner. I loved the mother and daughter duo. It was like having my grandmother cook for me and the detail in their meals is fully noted. Also try their salsa as they speak for themselves. They have chirping birds in a cage and a water fountain I got there and had to wait 20 minutes for a taco plate, it was early for them and they were just setting up. This is the LA taco truck or cart experience, but in brick and mortar form. My order: two or three each of the asada, carnitas, and lengua, with lots of the green and avocado salsa and limes from the salsa bar. Grab a Mexican Coke, Jarritos, or something else from their wide selection of cold drinks and you're good to go. Inexpensive and delicious. The decor inside is really hard to describe. A wall-mounted TV showing old movies in Spanish in the corner. Three arcade machines beckoning you to play Metal Slug or some super retro soccer game I'm forgetting the name of. You enter and feel as though you're half in someone's home and half in some otherworldly dimension. From a time long ago? A time that never was? These are the things I ponder while wolfing down tacos. I've never tried anything but tacos here. Tucked away deep in Tujunga is The Crazy Mariachi, a nice little Mexican spot that is clean, friendly and tasty. I had Carne Asada Tacos, the Chicken Burrito Mojado in red and green salsa, rice & beans and chips. The tacos were great and the meat was flavorful. The salsas (Roja & Verde) on the chicken burrito were also very good. The chicken was minced, not shredded as I expected, but that's okay. The rice and beans where pretty normal, they tasted fine but nothing extraordinary about them. The chips were a bit greasy for my liking but that's just my opinion. The salsas were all very good. This place is plenty big to come in with a group for lunch and as I said, the service was friendly and efficient. A nice little spot in Tujunga, I will definitely be back to El Mariachi Loco. My co-worker and I observed this whole in the wall and decided to give it a shot. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Two things that this place makes amazing - carne asada burritos and carne asada nachos! The burrito is really good cause it's made fresh. The nachos on the other hand, I honestly can't figure it out. It's the cheese, the chips...? I have no clue but it's seriously soooo good!! Their prices are really good and the service is pretty decent. The only reason I deducted a star is cause it literally takes like 30 minutes for a burrito. When I make a bit of a fuss about how long it takes, they said to order over the phone beforehand. I ordered over the phone at 10pm... They said it'll be ready in 10 minutes. Cool, so I get there at 10:13, and wait til 10:27 for a burrito. I can't really complain cause I know it's being made fresh... But seriously.. 27 minutes for a BURRITO? Lol. It's a little much. Also they have limes that have no juice. It's a silly thing to complain about but if the lime has no juice, why even put it out..? Lol. It's like putting out a cup of ice and saying its a cup of water...
