Wow, wow, wow! We were very pleasantly surprised at how good the food was here. I've lived in San Diego, so good Mexican is something much appreciated but often hard to find. And it was REALLY nice to find a place that not only wasn't bleating about masks, but wasn't forcing their poor employees to join the Cult of the Mask. It's nice to interact with people like human beings, and it was wonderful to find an oasis of sanity amongst the paranoia that is still gripping Aspen (even though Vail is over and done with that nonsense) Well worth a stop if you're in town! read more

Strong margaritas, attentive staff, and the steak quesadillas are out of this world (not on the menu just add steak to the quesadillas). Sit inside by the bar by one of the window tables and get great people watching. 10/10 would recommend! read more

As a southern Cali resident, I make it a rule to stay away from Mexican food when I'm out of the area. We had been on a road trip and eaten out so much that we were looking for something different so we gave Mi Chola a shot and wow...it was so good! I had chicken and al pastor street tacos and both were delish. My son had the salsa verde chicken burrito and loved it. First off the service is amazing 5/5. The owner got our party of 6 in last minute 5/5. The bar scene and decor is awesome 5/5. They have a nice kids menu 5/5. But the food didn't match all the great surroundings and service. The guacamole tasted pre-made1/5, the kids burritos lacked flavor 2/5, and the $25 so papilla dish was good not great 3/5. On the bright side, the chips and salsa are excellent 5/5, corn is a must try 5/5, beef fajita salad tasty, great dressing 4/5, and the service was on point throughout 5/5. We were let down with the $10 desserts, churros were over fried and doughy 2/5, fried ice cream was a nice large portion of ice cream but it didn't work with the crust 3/5. We were looking for a brunch place on a Sunday, this was one of the only places we could find with brunch options that interested us! I'm so glad we chose this place!!! The ambiance is awesome, and the food was amazing!! We started with the jalapeño poppers, they did not disappoint! Thank you, yelp reviewers! I had the chilaquiles! It was delicious!! The portion was massive and there was a lot of red onions. So knowing that, I would ask for no onions and bring a huge appetite next time! We had a reservation for four at 6:30 on a Friday night. Food was standard Mexican at best but fun vibe and nice waiter. Our table had been cleared, our check was paid, and we were just getting ready to leave, when the very rude woman at the front (not the hostess, maybe a manager) came over and said we had to leave (it was 8:08) and that she had to turn over the table. The food here was delicious, which is a shame because the experience was ruined by one of the owners, Adam. At a high-end Aspen restaurant you expect to be treated with certain level of respect, and it's ironic that the wait staff was perfectly courteous yet the owner was rude enough to ruin our dining experience. I dined with 4 adults, 2 small children, and one certified service dog. Since the dog hadn't eaten all day, I put some dried jerky on the ground for her next to my table. This enraged Adam, who have me a long, condescending, and embarrassing lecture in front of my guests. It's understandable if the restaurant has policies against feeding service animals, but to be treated with such disrespect in public is unacceptable at a supposedly fine dining establishment. Just left the restaurant after placing an order for a steak burrito, I asked the waitress if it could be a hand-held burrito for a to-go order and to mix the rice and beans inside the burrito after she asked me if I wanted it on the side. Twenty minutes later I got the burrito, turns out it was chicken instead of steak, there was rice inside but no beans. Due to lack of time, I wasn't able to go back and let the waitress know or wait another twenty minutes for a steak burrito. Also the waitress with the long dark hair chose to seat a couple standing behind me who arrived a couple of minutes after I did, before acknowledging me or asking if I would like a table. Absolutely horrible experience here. Came here on a Friday and the sign outside said "open at 4" we arrive at 4 and the lady comes out to say they have a private party. No sign on the door or any indicator that they would be closed. The food here was surprisingly BAD. I orederd the chili relleno and my husband orederd the chicken fajitas. The chile relleno was soggy and beans and rice was cold and lacked flavors. My husband said chicken was chewy, vegetables undercooked and rice and beans was Luke warm and under seasoned. Overall the food lacked flavors. I decided to try this place despite the very mixed reviews. I got lucky and had a good server and the chips and salsa are good, but the rest of the food was not good. I ate it after putting the salsa on it or it would've been pretty bad. The vegetable enchilada (forgot the name) was to have cauliflower. It had broccoli ( big taste difference) and the green sauce had absolutely zero flavor. The chicken tamale was mediocre in flavor. Green sauce on it was ok, but again, only the salsa saved it. My drink had mostly ice and large muddled pieces of lemon and lime. Not much actual liquid. Go somewhere else. read more

We ate at this restaurant last week on our first trip to Aspen. The decor in the restaurant was cool and unique, and the place had a fun vibe. The drinks were really good, and the service was also excellent. They were super attentive and brought out everything very quickly. However, we all found the food to be really dry and bland. It just didn't have much taste, which is rare for Mexican food (where are the spices??). May go back there for a drink in the future but probably won't eat there again. read more

I love this place! The name alone made me want to dine here and when I asked around for recommendations for a place to have dinner at this is place is what I got. I was told they have really cool art and decor of the Hispanic culture and they weren't wrong! We were lucky because a special event was going on that night and there was a dj and a dance floor. Our waitress was wonderful and I apologize for not reminding her name. She did help us out with purchasing some Mi Chola attire, t's and ball cap with the Chola drawing on the items. Reminded me of growing up in Southern California, my home town and middle school lol. Not to mention how nice the merch looks on me! I'm so glad we chose this place cause the food was amazing and the drinks knocked me out!!!! We decided to ride up to aspen one weekend and this place was right down the street from our hotel so we popped in for dinner. We arrived right at the end of happy hour and got a table in the back. Our server was very nice and recommended things on the menu for us. We both went with nachos..I got steak and my sister got chicken. The meat was very seasoned!! I ended up getting extra meat cause the nachos were so big!! We got a pitcher of strawberry margarita's and OMG!! They were super strong and we couldn't even finish the pitcher!! This place has some of the best food in the area! We used to live in San Diego where there is some amazing food. Now we live in Conifer outside Denver and struggle to find food this delicious and of this quality. It has a great fusion of socal flavor and Mexican. The perfect combination. I am not sure why they don't have a higher rating bc if you're a foodie you will thoroughly enjoy this place! It should be 5 stars! It is very casual just like SD which we appreciated when stopping with a 2yo. We will be coming back repeatedly. Thanks for having great quality food and service! read more

Aspen is a weird town. It feels like a quaint mountain town, but it's really Beverly Hills in disguise. So while looking for a restaurant and finding nothing but those places where they serve you a grape on a giant white plate and charge you $100, i was glad to find a reasonably priced mexican joint. But this is no typical mexican joint, this is a beautifully decorated restaurant with a gorgeous bar, a very nice dining room and a patio area. Even the hallway to the men's room is decorated with a huge piece of incredible graffiti. Beautiful. But it all comes down to the food and being from California, we're picky about our mexican food. It did not disappoint. Everything was delicious and the service was fantastic. The only downer was some confusion about splitting the bill which was unnecessary. Things quickly turned into a pissing match, and that's just not cool. Computers run everything these days and splitting the bill should be trivial. All in all, this is a great restaurant and I think they are going to do well. read more

**NO SPLIT CHECKS** I am normally not one to complain even with bad service. I always give the business the benefit of the doubt, especially when it is busy. (It was tonight.) For Aspen the food is priced decently, and the food tasted great. Here's a couple of the problems my group had. I came with a group of 8 people. 1. The menu says no split checks, no one in my group saw it, and no on ever told us, a group of 8 college students. 2. There enchiladas were the smallest quantity of food I have ever got from a Mexican restaurant! Probably the size of a small granola bar. 3. They never refilled drinks. (It was busy) 4. After talking to the manager, she did give us another enchilada which was nice. 5. To top it all off, we paid with one card, that they forgot to return when we got our receipt. Stopped at Mi Chola while in Aspen during happy hour. Great drink specials. I had a margarita ($6) and my boyfriend a beer ($4). Right when we sat down, chips and salsa were set right in front of us. We ordered the jalapeño poppers as an appetizer. The serving size is three fairly large jalapeños. Two weren't spicy at all but the third was VERY spicy. Next we each ordered a combo of tacos. My favorite of them all was the Baja. I always order fish tacos but they're always hit or miss. Even if you don't enjoy Mexican, stop in and check out the awesome decor! read more

It should not have taken 30+ minutes to get a kid's quesadilla, a cup of "chicken" tortilla soup and and a mushroom quesadilla. The server was nice but not very attentive. The kids quesadilla was very greasy and the "chicken" tortilla soup had 3 tiny bits of chicken, hence the quotes. The mushroom quesadilla was tasty just wish there had been mushroom in it. Updated 4/28 - wound up eating here again as many restaurants were closed. Would have been better going to the city market for week-old fried chicken. Had the duo combo again with chorizo taco and beef short rib enchilada. The chorizo was very spicy with way too much cumin and some minty herb that just didn't go well with it. The enchilada was fine. My wife ordered the vegetarian combo and it too was way too spicy. Wait staff tried to offer another taco but we had enough. Won't come back here again. read more

I called this restaurant today to inquire about making a reservation for 30 people in October for a friends & family reunion. The first 3 times I called, the phone picked up and was hung up on. I finally called again and got someone who just answered "hello?". No name of the restaurant I was calling. I said what I was trying to do and I was put on hold. A "Manager" came on the phone. Again, just "Hello". No name. No introduction or question of how he could help me. No hint at customer service. I told the man on the phone that I wanted to make a reservation for 30 people in October. As we talked I was more and more disturbed by the lack of customer service. He then asked me if I'd had a chance to look at the website and the food options for a large group. I said those wouldn't work as I have quite a few people with varying food tastes, allergies, vegetarian and I wanted people to just be able to order and we would let the larger family groups pay for their group. I was told that I would not receive an itemized bill and that the best we could do is say what amount of the whole bill to put on each card and that we couldn't do individual ordering because food wouldn't all come out at one time. All of the above is the most absurd customer service I have ever heard! I managed a dinner theatre back East for 12+ years and we had 1 seating a night and up to 170 people came in ALL AT ONE TIME and my staff went out and got individual drink, appetizer, dinner and dessert orders from each guest. And no matter the group size they could have as many checks as they needed for their group though we try to encourage a few as possible. No, not all the food comes out at once, but it all came out and everyone had a great time. And tips were SO much better due to individual service! To expect a friends & family group to come in and guess who wants to eat what and then how much each smaller group has to pay towards a total bill is unacceptable and I will take my family group elsewhere and will NEVER step foot in this restaurant ever again! read more
