This was our first time to dine in the downtown location of Mi Cocina. I think it's my favorite location so far. It is smaller and more cozy. Our young waitress did an incredible job with our high maintenance table. I'm pretty sure she lost a few pounds running around for my sister's specific drinks, tortillas, etc. The manager came by to check on us a couple of times and was very kind. The margaritas and food are always Latin perfection at Mi Cocina. I only wish they offered more gluten-free items. We will be back! read more

Sad. Before I retired and moved out West, Mi Cocina was one of the last restaurants I visited. I loved their Fish Tacos. They were the best. I was in Ft.Worth for a special event. This visit, they were understaffed (the staff was courteous), long wait for service and the food awful. The Fish Tacos were very fishy and enchaladas burnt. I guess times change. Next time I will drive back home ( 50 miles away) and eat at one of my local restaurants. read more

We went to Fort Worth to visit some family and stopped to eat at Mi Cocina Sundance, and it was the best experience we've ever had. The food was fantastic, very flavorful, and the service was great. This place has definitely changed since our last visit. We stopped by on Halloween and there were many available tables. We were seated outdoors and after 20 minutes my husband had to check with the hostess to see if anyone would be helping us. Several waiters and waitresses had passed by and no one even acknowledged us. We were only the third party outdoors. Finally the manager took our drink orders and he also took our food order. Once our actual waiter came by, he still wasn't attentive. I could have accepted the bad service if at least the food and drinks were great, however, they were both disappointing. They used an actual grapefruit which was a nice touch. I did have a couple of these. Strong, but delicious. Went well with the complimentary salsa and chips that I devoured. The salsa had a nice kick to it. As for my main meal, I got a combo plate. It had 4 different enchiladas, 1 tamale and a crispy taco. Served with rice and beans. All in all, enjoyable. The best food? Honestly, food wasn't great. They were super busy so I'm giving some grace, however both dishes were cold. Bri was our server, and she was amazing. Very friendly and lovely, I highly recommend her. Andrew the manager made it right with us, and I have zero negative things to say about the service or leadership here. He brought us "to go" food to take back to our hotel so we didn't leave hungry. (How amazing, and what a kind gesture, above and beyond.) The tacos he brought us were delicious!! What a super hospitable and kind group of people. The staff is absolutely incredible here. It is HARD to find a "kid friendly" place and by friendly I don't mean they have a kids menu, I mean a place for children that can't sit for a full meal and can engage in play without disrupting other diners. Mi Cocina is unique in layout as it has an outdoor astroturf area that's perfect for a play date while parents enjoy a meal and/ or cocktails, so I rank the play area # 1 based on my current priorities. #2 the alcoholic drinks are good- not sweet nor stiff they are properly made and enjoyable. #3 is the food, it's 3.5 stars on its own. Good but could use some QA from the kitchen as my tacos certainly had hallow parts and everyone wants to "feel" like they are getting their monies worth. Our server was excellent, he was also the bartender on our visit and he did a great job balancing bar orders with our semi large ( 5 kids-3 adults) party. Thank you Alba, manager of downtown Ft Worth location, for making sure me and my party had a memorable evening! I had called ahead and was told that we would have a 30 minute wait, and when we got there, we were told it would be over an hour. I sat back and watched as Alba and her team were hustling to get us seated. The whole crew was working like a well oiled machine so we were seated in good time, and it was worth the wait! The restaurant itself, is located downtown and close to Sun Dance Square. The tables and floors were clean, lights somewhat dimly lit, and the room was buzzing with excitement. People were having a good time! I ordered the brisket tacos which were delicious! The meat was tender and flavorful, the rice was moist yet fluffy, and the salad was just the right portion. It had well chopped pieces of Romain lettuce, a few slices of avocado, cherry tomatoes, and was topped with a light dressing. (Much more than a small hump of iceberg lettuce.) One of my friends gave me one of her chicken enchiladas which was filled (substantially) with chicken breast meat. The tortilla was crisp, beneath the green sauce. Very tasty! Our server, Christian, was super attentive and took care of our two birthday girls. The only negative of the evening was the Texas hot weather. We are in a heatwave I know, but businesses in Texas have to do something to keep us comfortable (fans?). This is not on the MC crew, but on corporate. We where in ft worth 2 nights and on Saturday this place had an hour wait so we came back on Sunday. Very nice chips with a very authentic salsa. We ordered the guacamole which was thick and flavorful. The beef fajitas were perfect for sharing. They have an upgraded version but the meat on these was very good. The corn tortillas are thick enough that they don't break and fall appear while you eat which is one of my pet peeves. They had a nice corn taste. To my surprise these fajitas had some very good thick cut potatoes along with the grilled onion and peppers. Great idea! Good service as well.
