There isn't a whole lot open downtown on a Sunday, and we were happy to find them open. It has been some time since we have been here but have always enjoyed our visits in the past. This visit was sub par. The service was not good and the food was just ok. We started with the jalapeño margaritas, which don't have jalapeños in them, and though they had a bit of spice, they were very sweet and light on the alcohol. It was a bit surprising, as I remember their margaritas being really good. We had to ask for straws, we had to wait for silverware, after we got our food, our waiter never came back to check on us. The food was just ok. I ordered the brisket tacos and the corn tortillas were cold and seemed stale. The brisket was underseasoned. The rice was bland and lukewarm. The best thing on the plate was the avocado salad, which had a citrusy dressing and had creamy avocado and crunchy tortilla strips on it. A little salt would have been appreciated but there was none on the table and like I said, the waiter disappeared. We were hungry and nothing tasted BAD, it was just ok. read more

Sat inside on a Monday night. Visited during a conference so it was busy. Felt like an upscale Mexican restaurant. The music matched the vibe. Loved it all. I don't order salads often but this one was well worth it. It was filling and had the perfect combination of flavor and texture. The tortilla strips and crispy bacon added a great bite. I got the gulf Shrimp instead of chicken. I also chose their chile garlic dressing. It wasn't too spicy and tasted amazing. Everything tasted fresh! The food looked great and very presentable. Although the taste was a different story. There were 4 different type enchiladas but yet they all tasted the same. It wasn't very good at all. When i walked in everything was very organized the wait was not long at all, they made sure we got seated as soon as possible. I ordered the brisket tacos and they were the best I have ever tried. The brisket melted in my mouth and was so savory, the peppers and the cheese made it even better. I sat out on the patio and the vibe was really great, i enjoyed their patio it was very peaceful and quiet. My server was very attentive and made sure i got everything on time if not even sooner. Always enjoy this spot. One of the nice tex mex places down town Fort Worth. It gets crowded at lunch very quickly so get in early otherwise it will be a wait. It gets loud sometimes and hard to hear. Service is excellent and friendly. Food comes out fairly quickly. I hear they have some good margaritas though I haven't tried them. I had the vegan guacamole tacos with lettuce and jicama. It also had a little purple cabbage and cucumber. The sauce on the side was spicy and good. Very good simple dish. read more

Sadly, the service was not acceptable. We were a large group and we were seated and then ignored. It took about 20 min for a server to come around to take orders. The restaurant did not seem busy and also from my observation, didn't seem understaffed as there were four employees standing around behind the bar. After nearly an hour with only chips, salsa, and water I spoke with the manager and informed him of what I wrote in this review. He was indifferent and quite honestly, the indifference to the lack of service prompted me to state we will take our business elsewhere. And we did. Two stars to the bartender and the bartender only as he is the only employee to apologize and explained no one had brought him our tickets to start preparing our drinks. What a fantastic evening we had at downtown Ft. Worth's Mi Cocina. We decided to dine there before an event at the Bass Hall. It was a Tuesday evening so they were not too busy, we were seated right away. We had an incredibly friendly and happy serve. I believe his name listed on the ticket was Hedi. After spending 25 years in the food business I could "read" his attitude and know he enjoyed his job. My wife and I ordered a couple of Mambo Taxis to enjoy while munching on Mi Cocina's excellent salsa and chips. Other than a favorite TexMex restaurant in Dallas, Mi Cocina has our favorite salsa. It's spicy and has a nice punch to it. We LOVE it. Yummy Mambo Taxis, one of Mi Cocina's signature drinks. They set the mood for our evening out. We let our server know we were on a tight schedule and ordered our entrees, chicken fajita nachos for my wife and Sunset spinach enchiladas for me. Our entrees were delivered with a smile very quickly. Both of our entrees were up to the excellent standard that we expect when dining at Mi Cocina. Awesomeness all the way around!! That's why we're regulars at Mi Cocina's all around the metroplex. I just wish they had a frequent diner card or program. That would make us REALLY happy campers. read more

Yesterday I was in Mi Cocina on Main Street in Forth Worth and I went to the second bar area because the first bar was packed and when I was bringing out the chair to sit down the employee Sarah , her first words to me and my daughter " are you going to eat " but in a really mean way , we already bought drinks from the first bar and my daughter and I said that we didn't know and then she said " are you waiting for a table" she did not even said Hi or welcome or how are you, she was just really mean , at that moment I though we were not welcome there because we are Hispanics. Even the other employees that were around were surprised of how she talked to us , only one server Ariana was so sweet and gave us exceptional customer service , she served us water and treated us in a professional manner. I noticed that Sarah treat the others customers next to us in a different manner and they didn't even bought food , we did. So guess what , the other customers were non-Hispanics . Got the tamale dinner and it was good as well. Waiter was very polite and checked on me often.
