I walked in to place a take out order, no one in front or behind me. After Son being in the hospital for a month, this restaurant was his choice. I ordered a Combination plate with 2 items. I ordered a Carnitas Burrito WITH CARNITAS, BEANS AND CHEESE. ORDER TOTAL WAS $25 AND CHANGE. DRIVE 3 MILES BACK HOME, SIT DOWN TO HAVE LUNCH WITH Son. Son's Burrito ONLY had Carnitas. Emily was the young lady who took my Order. I was so furious, how incompetent are you not to get a simple, basic order correct?? I immediately called to speak to a manager. I spoke to Adriana and explained my experience. I told her in these days where people are holding on to their purse strings, IF a Customer chose to dine at your establishment...HIRE COMPETENT EMPLOYEES! There was no way I was going to drive back to this restaurant to interact with a incompetent worker like Emily. Emily wasn't busy with NOBODY ELSE BUT ME. Seriously, GET IT TOGETHER. Adriana offered to credit Burrito charge and give me another Burrito when in the area. I accepted the credit BUT rejected the free burrito. I will NOT be returning for a long time. I've been here a number of times over the years and attended an event once that was catered by them, so feel comfortable reviewing. It's fine. I honestly do not love eating here. I eat here because others want to eat here. I just feel with a Mexican Restaurant on every corner in Escondido, you have better options. Visually, it looks fun and festive outside and inside. They have two floors as well as indoor and outdoor seating. It is VERY loud inside. I just don't love really loud restaurants because everyone has to yell to talk and with parents who can't hear, that is not a fun experience. The food is also fine. I actually LOVED the chicken tortilla soup a couple visits ago, but I did have a pretty bad stomach ache after that dinner.... no clue if it was due to the food or not, but it tasted great. My last visit I tried the fish taco and it was ok. I felt like the piece of fried fish was way too big for the taco. Okay, maybe a weird complaint, but it was not as tasty when the accoutrements provided were completely overshadowed by the fish. Its big though! For me, one taco of the two was enough, but if you like a big serving, this is a good choice. Nothing I've had on other visits have stuck with me. They have the usual things. My husband has enjoyed the taco salad and the fajitas in our last two visits. Chips and Salsa is pretty good. Overall, this is your average Mexican restaurant. THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!! My wife and I visited today to sample the food, see the venue and experience the vibe prior to putting down our deposit for a family & friends event next month. THE TEST: We agreed going in that our 'Benchmarks' for evaluation would be: - Salsa - Service - Guacamole - Margaritas - Chile Relleno - Fajitas - Mole Poblano - Event room ...and of course the overall Vibe... RESULTS: Cutting to the chase - this was the best Mexican Restaurant we have been to in many many years - and we go to Mexican Restaurants AT LEAST two times a week. ALL items on our list were as superior as the personalized care we got from Martha and the excellent attention we were given by our waitress. We reserved the small bar area for our group of 25 or so - and can't WAIT to return for our very special Graduation Celebration next month. Mi Guadalajara transports guests and the Epicurious to destinations which are equally delightful as they are delicious. Not sure but I think another Pre-Party visit may well be in order, because we can't hold out for a month!! read more

This is our favorite go-to local Mexican restaurant. The food is excellent, and the service is on point, too. They also offer a breakfast/brunch menu. Their chorizo is tasty and not greasy like some places can be. Friday nights can be loud with live Mariachi music if that bothers you. They can also be busy, but the staff is excellent about getting you on the list once everyone at your party arrives. I've had tons of items on the menu, and nothing disappoints. Also, the bartenders are great, and the drinks are good and strong. I've celebrated birthdays here multiple times. read more

Can't believe that I've never reviewed this place! Came here many moons ago before I was married and it's still the same gem. Excellent service and delicious food. Parking is easy and is shared between a private lot and street. The indoor dining and patio are excellent options depending on the size of your party. I attended a company party and was pleased with everything. Food was hot and yummy. I loved their steak but really enjoyed the churros. I'll be back for sure when visiting Escondido. read more

First time and I will definitely be back!!!!! We moved to Escondido in 2018 and I bookmarked this place to try it out but never had a chance to. Finally! Hubby had the Chile verde and he said it was so good, perfect spice and pork was tender. I had the shrimp ceviche platter and omg, normally I always have to add extra lemon and salt, I asked for lemon but didn't have to use it. The flavor of the ceviche was just perfect. The drinks were equally amazing, we had a Paloma and a guava margarita. We did go during a low traffic hour but regardless I can't wait to come back! read more

Mi Guadalajara is a nice sit down family place, serving up very good south of the border food. Their prices are fair given the plate busting amount of food you get. Mi Guadalajara also celebrates their Aztec heritage in murals along the ceiling walls. It's a fanciful mythology of what present day Aztec civilization (photos) might look like, if Cortez didn't invade nearly four hundred years ago. We came here for a late lunch and there was a limited number of servers due to COVID. We waited for about fifteen minutes for someone to finish their meal. Mind you there were plenty of open tables, just no servers. We ordered off the Lunch Menu their Chicken Enchilada and Beef Tostada. Both were tasty and mild in heat. Expect to pay $10 to $15 each. Came here for the first time today to celebrate a friend's birthday. The service was good for our large group. I ordered the breakfast sausage burrito with no cheese. I specifically told the server no cheese as I am lactose intolerant. He brought out my burrito and it had cheese in it. So he took it back, but in the meantime everyone was eating except for me since they had to re-make my food. In town visiting family and they recommended Guadalajara. They still have 1/2 tables closed due to social distancing and masked required. So we had to wait about 45 minutes since only half tables are open. Our waiter was very friendly and super helpful. I'd recommend their margaritas too. I enjoyed both of them! I got the seafood chimichanga. It was good but nothing remarkable. Pretty standard. Everyone else enjoyed their meals. The service here is what pushed them from 3 to 4 . Such an Escondido staple! Not only is the building's architecture pretty epic (and SO different than most here in Esco), but the inside is super warm. Our server Aaliyah was so so sweet and was slammed with tables. But she handled them all like a BOSS and gave quality service to each table she served. Food was so tasty! Chips and salsa were good. Salsa could have been spicier but is perfect for sharing with family. My husband ordered the carne asada fajitas and I ordered the combo- shredded beef crunchy taco and a chicken enchilada. I like Mi Guadalajara but I haven't had enough of their food to do a real thorough review. Service is great and their chips and salsa are also good. However, on this particular visit the salsa was very spicy, almost too spicy for me. I ordered the lunch special, 1/2 shredded beef tostada. It was good, had a good portion of meat and the lettuce was fresh. I would have liked more guacamole or slices of avocado. I'll be back and I'm looking forward to trying more menu items. read more

Unfortunately the service was not good at all. It was cinco de mayo so I knew it would be busy. We never got checked up on to see if everything was okay we had To keep asking. I had a fabulous outdoor dining experience All tables were 6 feet apart and shaded. All staff hustled in and out under the 90 degree weather to ensure we were never without refills on water or chips and salsa. We loved it! We had the carnitas street tacos and they were amazing and for taco Tuesday pricing! We also had a combo with a ground beef tostada and a shredded beef burrito. My sisters and I went to ask for a table for 3 at 9:40 they close at 10 but previously working in the food industry I know that last call is closing time. We did politely ask if it was too late for a table and hostess went back to check and while she was checking another hostess came back to ask if we wanted a table for 3 and we said "Yes, someone went to ask if it was too late" and she said "well we do close at 10" so we just decide to go somewhere else. I brought my mother in law here for her birthday ! Def never coming back The food was not good at all! I refused to to eat the ceviche, it tasted old! They gave my daughter DINO NUGGETS from the freezer aisle at any store lol Like what the heck ???? My mother in law ended up with food poisoning after our visit The restaurant is pretty, the Jamaica margarita was yummy But I def recommend eating at any other Mexican restaurant in the area !
