I have been here several times and had good service and food, but staff has changed and service was horrible. We were served our water and Pico after the meal was almost done The waiter never returned to our table after we ordered and when I asked what happened to the waiter I was told he was now " in the bar". The service was awful and the food was below the regular standard. The taco on my plate only had 1/2 a tortilla on it and the tamale was a large dried out roll of masa with very little very dry filling. DO NOT GO HERE. I ordered a steak with shrimp wrapped in bacon and my bacon was extremely undercooked!!! I couldn't even eat it I had to remove the bacon from my shrimp and still my shrimp was dry and nasty it had no flavor! My steak was red and chewy very undercooked. The bacon was pink and squishy legit looked like they took it out of the box and wrapped it in shrimp with cooking it. I would rate a -5 star if I could. read more

The sandwich board outside offers $5.99 lunch specials, but we saw nothing offered on the menu for that price. This site used to house another Mexican restaurant that was once very popular, and it combines room for lots of people with a certain coziness. The atmosphere is nice. The salsa tastes like a store bought taco sauce. Not so good, and in small, small bowls. Chili relleno - okay, but not really good. A Mexican restaurant can be judged by its chili relleno, I think. My wife's chicken taco salad ($6.49) didn't come with guacamole or sour creme, like our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area does for $5.99. And it had a thin slice of tomato, though plenty of chicken. The service was very prompt, and the food was brought within five minutes of ordering. Very polite, but not very warm. My thought its that Mi Mexico should check out its competition if it wants more business. Did I mention that the salsa comes in very small bowls? read more

Pollo con crema, which used to be cheesy creamy, is merely a bunch of onions in sour cream, hardley no meat, poor taste. I am new to the area and coming from SoCal I really wanted to find a good Mexican restaurant. Based on the meal I had a chicken burrito & hubby had the chicken enchilada plate we were very happy. Went here for one of my best friend's 30th birthday. It was a blast! The food came out quickly, it was super flavorful (growing up in Southern California, I know good Mexican food!), and the waitstaff was friendly and accommodating (even to our large number of split checks!). As we were waiting for our food (which took forever to get, yet a larger party near us that came after us got theirs before we did and we placed our order before they did), a different server from our own asked us if we wanted more chips, which we said yes. Have given this place a try twice, and we won't be back. Food was very bland, which is strange for a Mexican place. We had chicken enchiladas and cheese enchiladas, and both were served just lukewarm. The chicken was completely unseasoned and practically flavorless, and the red enchilada sauce tasted like watered down canned tomato sauce with some extra salt added. Bizarre. Like another reviewer mentioned, the restaurant advertises $5.99 lunch specials but there isn't anything on the menu at that price. Most lunch plates are around $8-$10, which is overpriced for the quality of food that they're serving here. Too bad - I was hoping to find another decent lunch option in Burlington, but for now we'll just stick with one of the good taquerias in town. read more

Passed thru town and saw this place, decided to try it out. Was pleasantly surprised in all aspects. Food: huge portions no normal human could finish in one sitting. Home-made tortillas made before our very eyes. I had fajitas which were amazing, my friend had the meat trio, which was also amazing. Appetizer was tacquitos which were made with fresh quality ingredients and were very tasting and presented nicely. Drinks: Friend's beer was enormous, but nothing compared to my cadillac margarita, which I swear weighed 5 lbs. Service: good, nothing spectacular or out of the ordinary, but we got prompt, friendly service. Restaurant: it was clean and spacious, nicely decorated, making a good environment for a great meal. Price: It was a little on the expensive side for Mexican, but the serving sizes were plenty enough for 2 meals or more. I really don't understand the low-rated reviews. I really can't decide between three and four stars... The good: Since many of the reviews were written, the service has dramatically improved: multiple staff stopping by to check on water, chip/salsa refills, how the meal is, etc. The salsa has also improved in the same time - it's now more flavorful than when they first opened. I haven't ordered anything that has tasted too "out of the normal," either too spicy or not spicy enough - I like that I can taste the flavors of the vegetables in the dish I'm eating! The meh: The speed of service really seems to be based on luck - we were there a few weeks ago (with about 1/2 of Burlington!), and had our food in 15 minutes - our latest visit was at the same time as MAYBE 4 other small tables, and our food took 20+ minutes. Nice environment, but when the place is packed, I feel like I'm eating with my 300 closest friends - not much in the way to break-up the space, other than the booths themselves. The ugh: If you have allergies/sensitivities/just don't like certain things - be sure to tell the server, because the details seem to be lost by the time things get to the kitchen (perhaps due to the massive menu others have mentioned?). The dish I prefer to order says it comes with corn tortillas, and it does... half the time; it also says it comes with black beans - which it usually does... My husband and I were discussing this the last time we ate there - we'll continue going back, but in the (likely dozens of) times we've visited Mi Mexico, we've never had ALL the details as they should be - he's asked for a different type of bean (e.g. black beans instead of refried) and gets pinto or refried, I get different tortillas, his burrito says it comes with guacamole and sour cream, and we have to ask for it, etc. I do have to say, every time one of these errors has been brought to the attention of the waitstaff, the problem is immediately fixed, without any attitude. So... three stars? Four stars? I'm not sure... Mi Mexico is still in our "rotation" for "Mexican food in Burlington/Mount Vernon." read more

This place is not that great. Pretty large inside with plenty of seating and a separate bar area, but very dark throughout. Food was surprisingly bland. On a recent visit my cheese enchiladas were cooked in what tasted like plain tomato sauce - hardly any seasonings. A separate order of chicken enchiladas contained plain shredded chicken, once again cooked without any seasoning other than salt. The rice that came alongside was also strangely lacking in flavor. Service was friendly, but that's not enough to make up for the lackluster food. Next time I think I'll head down the road to one of the many other options nearby. read more

Sad to be here writing a bad review. My husband and I have eaten here several times before and had great experiences each of those times. But tonight was something else. Because we took awhile to decide what we wanted to eat, we were forgotten about. We were able to order our two Cadillac Margaritas (both delicious) but to order our food it took at least 30 mins. After waiting a little while we ordered two more drinks, which we did not receive. Another 20-30 mins go by and we receive our food. I ordered the divorced enchiladas. Horrible! My husband ordered the special tonight, the macho burrito. That is only a dollar less than the normal price and you get a whole lot less burrito. And apparently when you order chicken, you get ground beef. I took only a bite of each enchilada and decided to send my food back. Something I never do. But as several servers and the manager/owner walked by several times and noticed my family eating but I was not nobody stopped to acknowledge it. Although the staff is friendly it does not make up for their lack of service. The manager walked around and talked to everyone and asked about their experience but not us. He was kind enough to take my meal off of the bill but couldn't be bothered to appoligize for the terrible experience. Really dissapointing and not sure we will be back again. Chips and salsa were very good. The servers are nice but not very attentive. read more

The restaurant has a nice layout w a bar area, comfy booths right as you come in and an upstairs too. Fun bright colors make it hard not to be happy here. This place was awful. Went there with my family and waited 15 minutes just for our drink order. When we finally got our food I had ordered a Mexican shrimp cocktail cold, it came to the table warm. I sent it back and got it back a minute later with the same dirty spoon and it very apparent they just threw some ice in the cup and stirred it. My mother in law had ordered a bowl of guacamole which was very expensive, and when she finally got it there was almost nothing in it. She also ordered a Mexican seafood soup which advertised mostly crab, and she got one measly crab leg and the rest was just broth. My husbands burrito was cold and the water glasses were all dirty. My straw also had some kind of old lettuce on it. Very gross, major health code violations, and just all around bad food and bad service. If you want a good experience, don't go here. read more

Stopped by for lunch after visiting the tulip fields. We were a bit apprehensive after reading some of the reviews, but needlessly so. We were immediately greeted when we walked in and shown to a nice booth next to a window. Service was great - servers promptly brought out chips & salsa and came back at an appropriate amount of time for our orders. When the waitress noticed we finished our chips, she offered to refill them without us having to ask first! Our orders all came out timely and were huge. The waiter came back to check on us a few minutes after to make sure everything was ok. Like I said, great service from start to end. Food was good. Standard Mexican plates with sides of rice and beans that satisfied our craving. We showed up around 12:30-1:00 and there was a steady stream of customers that came in during the time we were there. Bathrooms were nicely updated... granite countertops, automatic towel dispensers, decently clean. We will be back the next time we're in the area and looking for good Mexican food. read more

This is my absolute favorite Mexican restaurant! The restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous, inside and out. It is decorated with a very colorful, unique, Mexican flair. When you are sitting, waiting for food, you can never get enough of the amazing and detailed architecture around you! The staff is extremely friendly from entrance to exit. The menu is large and and there is so much food to choose from! The food is delicious, this is the restaurant responsible for my new found love of beans + rice. My husband and I go here a few times a month now, because the prices are so affordable, we spend about 21.00 total for both our meals! Me and my family were there late on a Friday evening. The atmosphere had a very 'Mexican' feel to it. It reminded me of my stay at a resort in Cancun. It was very clean and had nice dim lighting. We were seated right away and were brought complimentary nachos and salsa. The nachos tasted fresh, and the salsa was delicious. It wasn't full on the veggies, but it had just the right amount of heat, and the mint was a nice touch. I ordered the Carne Asada, my wife ordered the Mar Y Tierra, and we ordered Chicken Quesadillas for the children. The portions were huge, and the food was delicious. The Mar Y Tierra is like the Carne Asada, but it had sauteed shrimp and mushrooms. My food was good, but my wife's was AMAZING. Throughout the whole evening, the staff was attentive, and there wasn't a moment where we had to flag staff down for service. At the end of our meal, what we packed up would be equivalent to what would be considered a meal at other establishments. I would definitely go back, and would recommend whomever I speak to do the same. read more

Want to start off with I've never been to a Mexican restaurant that beef means shredded beef besides taco bell of course. Or where queso dip is straight up a can of cheese. And the beans too. Nothing of what I had stood out. The strongest flavor was sour cream, followed closely by beef grease. The server seemed either too busy to chat or indifferent. my boyfriend and i decided to try this place out before heading back home from shopping. i was expecting a little better than what we were served. my deluxe burrito was cold inside but the plate was scorching hot like they had just microwaved it. my boyfriend got steak fajitas and there was WAY more onions & peppers than steak. his tortillas tasted like cardboard. the chicken in our toquitos were sooo dry. customer service was amazing non the less and we got refunded for everything. but i will not be returning. read more
