Amazing food at good prices. Service was friendly and fast. We had chimichangas, which were very good. They were not greasy, as they can sometimes be, and the queso on the outside was perfect. I preferred the chicken, as it was tender and well flavored. We also had the beef tips, which were good, as well. My friends got the fajitas and the serving was enough for them to share. Saw the restaurant on Yelp and thought I would give it a try on a nice Thursday evening. Asked to sit on the outdoor patio and that's when it went wrong. Upon sitting down, I immediately was annoyed by cigarette smoke coming from a gentlemen at the next table. I asked the server if they allowed smoking. He said yes. Wrong answer for me as I wasn't about to enjoy my dinner with smoke blowing in my face. We decided to just have a drink. Apparently the Lime Margarita was the special of the day but after asking what Tequila was used, we declined since we didn't care for Jose Cuervo. We asked for a Margarita with Don Julio and the server said they can't. What do you mean you can't? We will pay for the upgrade? Don't you have a bar? He said yes, but they couldn't make it. It seemed they only wanted to sell the pre-made stuff. That was the last straw for us and we happily left. I can spend my hard earned money elsewhere...went down the street to Poblano's. Beautiful location, food was great, service was even better. When we asked for a Margarita with Don Julio, the response was...No problem. I will come again to a place where my money is appreciated. Avoid Mi Mexico, where service comes with smoke and where they want to serve you cheap Margarita's so they can save money. read more

I only had nachos with a variety of sauces (hot sauce, cheese, beans, guacamole, a side of jalapenos) but I can say all of that was really good. And inexpensive to order that way since the table tortillas are free. We had tequila sunrises and those were not great however. It tasted a little off, might have been a mix or something, and it was not presented well. The colors were mixed into a brown-green result. read more

My favorite Mexican place in town. Quesofundido is the best! Everything else is usually pretty good too.

About as basic as it gets. Even the chips and salsa lacked flavor. The service wasn't too bad but I could see it being a nightmare if they were busy. We probably won't come back. At least we checked this one off the list. read more

Well I would say just go to taco bell because there tacos are cheaper and you can get them in a doritos shell it will taste about the same I didn't care for it at all the food was warm and one plate was cold not even worth the $7 + they charge for the taco combo read more

This is the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. That being said, the worst Mexican is still tolerable. Prices are okay but the portions are small and the food is adequate at best. I apologize for the delay in posting this review. My husband and I moved here from San Diego. In San Diego there was a good authentic Mexican restaurant on every other block. When we came here we ate at several establishments that claimed they served authentic Mexican food...my husband and I would leave disappointed and depressed. The servers are always very friendly and keep our drinks and chips full, the food is fast and always hot and delicious. This is twice now that I've been overcharged from the menu price. And twice that I'm given a lame reason. And the last time I'll eat here. I made it as plain as I could to the waiter what I was ordering--3 chicken tacos from the a la carte menu. The waiter tried to bring me beans and rice with it, which I hadn't asked for and didn't want. I sent the beans and rice back. The first time this happened, I was told that the price included the rice and beans. I couldn't make her understand that isn't what I ordered. This time, she tried to tell me they were more because I asked for cilantro and onions (no other toppings). I asked her where in the menu this was stated. Never got an answer. I paid and left. If you eat here, the food us pretty good, but watch your charges very closely! read more

I was very, very pleased with Mi Mexico! I had my usual Combination 1(1 Taco, 2 Enchiladas) - all chicken. I have been craving good Mexican food since I moved to Columbus. It's very similar to El Maguey in STL and though the St. Peters El Maguey will always be my favourite, I am very happy to have found Mi Mexico for a great go-to here in CBus. read more

This place is awesome! We visit often as it's very convenient to home. The shrimp enchiladas are my favorite, with ample tiny shrimp in a yummy sauce with rice, but really, we've never had a bad meal there. The servers are very friendly and the food is served quickly- even when they are very busy there is never a long wait to eat. The portions are big for the price, I've never left hungry and usually have to take some food home! I love going on Thursdays for the half price margaritas. If you want authentic, this is the place. From the wait staff to the chillaquilles. They have changed the salsa a couple of times and I don't like what they bring out first. (too oniony) but you can simply order the "salsa picosa" and everything will be alright. We (everyone at work) go here regularly and the menu includes everything...even a delicious carne asada. In my opinion this is the best place in Columbus so far. There are a couple of new places I need to try but it is hard to resist Mi Mexicos Carnitas.....to die for. Not in the best neighborhood but we have never had an issue. read more

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in town. It's authentic, cheap, huge portions and FAST. I've been coming here for years and love it.

So glad I found this place. Living on the west side I never get over that way. I ordered the super combo and my bf ordered the espesial dinner. I swear they knew what we wanted before we got there. That's how fast the service was. With those two orders we had enough for lunch and dinner that night with all the left overs. Our waiters English wasn't very good but very courteous and refilled our drinks when they needed it without asking. He was very attentive but not overbearing and annoying. The food was to die for. The meat was seasoned perfectly and the salsa was excellent. Was not a fan of the guacamole but I've made my own for years so I'm kind of a snob. All in all it was worth the drive and we will be going back again and again. Our bill was less than $35. As I said before we had enough left over for supper that night. If you want authentic mexican food at a good price with excellent service this is the place to go. read more

I've loved this place since I first set foot in Columbus over 20 years ago. food is amazing. Our server wasn't the greatest but it was great company and equally magnificent food. Of course every Mexican restaurant experience starts with chips and salsa and theirs was awesome. Could tell the salsa was not canned just a hint of heat and great texture. Loved it. I had a combination plate Although the entire plate was delectible I must say the enchiladas stood out. Beef with a red sauce that was very rich and flavorful very authentic taste. Chicken enchilada had a very nice light sauce on it and was delish! Also a chimichanga that the chicken filling was seasoned very well and the cheese sauce had me wanting to lick my plate and honestly if either of my dining companions would have looked away for even a second I probably would have gone for it and licked that cheese sauce right off. The black beans were wonderful. Rich flavor with beans perfectly cooked nice side dish and very yummy. The dish also came with a quesadilla and it was OK. That was probably the weak link in the entire plate. Just a nice white (probably chiuaha) cheese and a tortilla nothing else. Overall a deliciously prepared meal. Now for what I think was the best part. My dining partner ordered a tamale as an appetizer I thought this was odd as I've never seen him eat one before. Turns out he wanted to order a chile rellano (that's what he gets for not asking me what he likes BUHAHA) so I got to eat half of it. I swear my old friends grandmother from Guadelahara was back there making these things. My taste buds just started singing and clouds parted and I saw visions of bull fights.... Ok so maybe I over exaggerate it but this truly was the best tamale I've had outside of my friends grandmother!!! I wish I could get into Columbus more often to enjoy this place more. Worst service I have ever received. We didm't have a waiter, the only time someone stopped at our table is when we would flag them down on their way to other tables. I saw at least 5 different tables that came in after us receive their food before us. If the food was decent I would of given another star, but the rice was sticky and had a funny taste, and my lettuce covered chimichanga was very bland in flavor. The person i was with, they had her order messed up. Not to forget that we had to wait an additional 10 mins for them to bring my child's peaches (fruit cup) that came with her meal. I have been to Mi Mexico numerous times and food always great and service awesome. Today me and my son went there and it was not the same. Server was nice, food warm, and what i got I did not enjoy. i got the taco, enchilada with beans and rice. My son seemed to enjoy his with no complaints. I ate the taco, small bite of enchilada a bite of the beans and rice, it was tasteless and like i said, WARM. I pushed the plate off to the side server came and asked if I wanted a box and said "no" that I did not like it. He went away and came back and put bill on table. I paid the bill and nothing else was said. Will I return? Nope, I sure wont. They got my business in the past but will not have any future business from me. Their loss. read more

I was taken to this restaurant for my birthday on Feb 2, 2012 after hearing about the great food and atmosphere. Sadly though my experience there was far from great!. I waited first in line at the hostess station to check-in for 25 minutes and never once had a single person acknowledge my party even though many workers kept passing in front of us. I will NOT go back. Poor customer service was my first impression so I now have a bad taste in my mouth for Mi Mexico even though I never did taste their food. read more

First time being there and the fork had dried food on it, when I received my food, I ate a soft taco first which I thought the meat tasted terrible. I was cutting my chicken and found a hair in it. That gagged me and I didn't eat anything else. There was also an employee sleeping on three of the chairs in one of the dining rooms. We were across him and all the sudden a chair fell where he was sleeping. It startled us. Strange. Will not go back there again. read more

I've repeated this restaurant several times. The service has been exceedingly impressive every time. The food is good and comes in abundance. The decor is a bit loud but it doesn't affect the dining experience too much. The restaurant was clean as well as the bathrooms. I do recommend this restaurant to friend and family. read more

Declining Quality - I have eaten here many times over the years, no complaints. But I have noticed lately that the food is starting to taste a bit blander, and the service is suffering too. Fewer wait staff and less attentive. I hope it is just a temporary lull and management will get these issues fixed, it is real convenient for a quick dinner out when you don't want burgers and fries.
