If you haven't eaten here yet, you need to. They have great staff and amazing chefs. When I worked in the shopping center across the street, this was one of my fave spots to eat lunch. Went on a Wednesday night and dined on their daily special 2X1 Tosadas , Flauta appetizer, flan and a couple of adult beverages. Food quality was GREAT, friendly service and my drink was always full. One thing I did see outrageous was the price ($2.50 each) for a side of refried beans and rice that sat next to my flautas. The portion size was very minimal, about 4 bites and they were done. I was extremely pleased with this restaurant! Being a Latina, I know what good Mexican food is, and this is good Mexican food!! I went for the first time with my mother and sister and we all enjoyed our food. The service was also excellent. Our server did an excellent job making sure we were taken care of. And to top it off, the restaurant was so clean and nice inside! Good music and just an awesome place overall! I will be back very soon! Unfortunately my first visit wasn't the best experience I've had. The restaurant was almost empty with maybe 4 or 5 tables used which doesn't bother me, but for the waitress that helped my friend and I, she seemed lost and was constantly disappearing. My simple order of a ceviche tostada took 30 minutes for me to get. Really? It's ceviche for crying out loud! The restaurant was almost empty??? This experience was not a good one overall. Today, 11/29/15, I visited Mi Pueblo for the third time n took my wife for her first visit for breakfast. The place was empty, which is not normal for a Mexican restaurant in Oxnard. I ordered a wet carnitas burrito and my wife ordered huevos rancheros. These are both traditional dishes, how can you possibly go wrong? I am truly sorry to say that the food hasn't gotten much better since my initial visit a few days after it opened. The carnitas were cold, the beans were cold, the white rice was especially cold n hard. The red sauce, qualifying it as a wet burrito, was rather blah! My wife only ate half of her dish, again cold n tasteless. These guys need to get better cooks if they wish to stay in business. Perhaps they should consider having the cooks at the original Mi Pueblito provide a little training! read more

We have gone here once before and shared the cevici, and that was awesome. We were going to head out to the casual Mexican spot around the corner but saw this was open so we decided to stop in to try. My husband, son and I have been to the other Tacos Mi Pueblo restaurants and enjoy them so we figured it was worth the try. I liked the decor of the restaurant and noticed how different and nice it looked from its Bob's Big Boy and Rusty's days. We were greeted by several hostesses and seated pretty promptly. There wee several hosts at the entrance wiping down menus and it looked as if it was the gossip/hangout for employees. The restaurant was not full, especially since it had only been opened about 36 hours (per the owner/manager). We were seated and waited about 10 minutes before our server greeted us. Chips and green salsa had already been delivered and they were good and fresh. To make a potentially long story short, our server messed up on all our drinks, appetizer and food. We rarely saw her and was assisted more by the bus guys and gals more than the server. She seemed inexperienced and stressed. Everything was eventually made right but the second time around. I got the Filete de Pollo, which was a hearty size. Ask for the tortillas on the side cause they are good. Substitute the potato salad for something else. It's just not that good. Husband got potato enchiladas and he enjoyed them. We asked to speak to the owner/manager and he corrected the poor service and errors with a discount to the bill. If you've got a lot of time and patience, stop by. Food is mostly good. I probably won't visit again until the growing pains are (hopefully) resolved. read more

Finally when we got our drinks there was something that looked like a hair on my Margarita. Our waitress told us sorry for taking to long that it wasn't her fault that the other waitress were on lunch and they had to cover other tables besides theirs. Not a good experience for us. My first visit and I was liked the food but not the initial seating. The place was slightly busy and they asked us to just sit wherever we wanted. After sitting it was about 10 minutes before they asked us if someone had taken our drink order. We had to order our drinks and food because I was not going to wait for someone to come back. I had a fish and a shrimp taco ( thanks to the waitress suggesting that) with rice and beans and my husband had a shrimp burrito. Both very good.
