We tried this place because they have good reviews . We had dinner here and I ordered carne asada fries ,it's big pieces of steak meat but not a lot , fries is like your regular French fries , It's just dry, I just picked the meat sour cream and guacamole then left the rest on my plate . My husband on that other hand ordered wet shredded beef burrito and oh boy was it salty ! He told the server and she just said sorry I'll let the cook know . Didn't offer any compensation for it , nada! I guess they don't care because they're by the freeway so most people that eat there are passer by /tourist . Terrible service, really bad food. We arrived 6:50, at that time there was just one table and three people. Got our food at 7:30. Taco had terrible rice as if we're soaked in water. Cheese quesadilla had too much cheese in it. Fry's are also poorly prepared, black spots everywhere. I am writing merely to give an honest experience. I travel many places in Arizona in the past week, Mexican food has been the main choice so I know what could be good ones. This one really made my family sick. read more

Had an early dinner there. Some people seemed to be travelers (including me), some seemed to be locals. As long as you eat dairy, several vegetarian items are available. It was a very interesting experience. Others have said it has been around a while. I can't testify to that directly, but the decor certainly was like something out of the 1950s. Mexican food has become really popular in the US in the last 30 years. This wasn't that. The menu items were all very simple - no cilantro, no adobo sauce, no poblanos or anchos, nothing like that (or at least nothing labeled that way). I got something listed under huevos rancheros (there were three kinds), and it was basically just scrambled eggs (the server asked you what kind of eggs you want), jalapeños, tomatoes and onions. I got it with rice, and it was not like the standard rice that you get it Mexican restaurants throughout the country. It was really simple, and I asked the owner how she made it. She said she just browns rice, ands add a little tomato sauce and garlic. It was not complex or intensely flavorful, but clearly homemade and not the gummy sort of stuff you often get in restaurants. I am wondering if this is Mexican food (or maybe the kind of food eaten by Latinos in the southwest) before this cuisine became Americanized, both in the $20-entrée, 10-kinds-of-margaritas-with-really-expensive-tequila, west LA sense and the small-Midwest-town-Mexican-restaurant sense. It was not anything unforgettable flavor-wise, but it these days is probably a distinctive experience, maybe Mexican food the way used to be. maybe he put me in the mind of old-fashioned, red-checker tablecloth Italian-American restaurants. The food was certainly good, and it is definitely worth patronizing. A lot of the entrées that are available at modern Mexican restaurants are available here as well, although I did not have any. read more

What a find!!! If you're traveling I-40 through Arizona, take exit 255; on the North side of the freeway, across from the Best Western you'll find this little gem. The food is outstanding as well as the service, contrary to the initial perception you may have when you first walk in. I know this will be my regular stopping point when I pass that way!! read more

Have to say, don't understand the great reviews. Granted the store is clean and the service was great. Very friendly people. The food was just ok. We had chili relleno, seemed like two chilis dipped in egg batter, kinda bland. Two shredded beef and two lengua crispy tacos. They were good but taco shells were not fried crispy so they were kind of chewy. Again, taste was kind of bland. We got 1/2 basket of chips & when we asked for more they said they were completely out! ???? We probably won't return. read more

Viviana was a sweetheart! We went in for lunch after a long scenic drive. Our tacos and enchiladas were excellent, as were their chips and salsa. It tasted good but way over priced and not worth it. We spent 29.95 for two plates that you would normally pay 7.95 each for. They didn't give us any slice limes, and only gave us two flour tortillas. Thank goodness that we didn't buy drinks. We probably will pass it up the next time we are here. read more

This place is fantastic - We stopped in Winslow for the night on a cross country trip and were not expecting much along the lines of food. This place was across the street from our hotel and we were surprised how great it was. We ordered a ton of food (pork enchiladas and pork gorditas were our favorite) and couldn't have been happier. I have to follow a strict gluten free diet and found the waitress extremely helpful!!! I especially liked the pork with potatoes! Most of the sauces contained flour but I was able to eat very well despite that. I would definitely eat here again. read more

If you stop in Winslow eat here. It is a small family run restaurant. This kind of place is getting more difficult to find every day. The food is Home made from family receipes the green chili is great. Also order at least one chili relleno off the ala carte selections. Our meal was delicious and the service was great. We were greeted right away with homemade chips and salsa. The chips were crunchy and the salsa had great flavor. We received our drinks right away. I ordered the gorditas with shredded beef and my husband had the shredded beef chimichanga. The plates were a good size. The gorditas were cooked perfectly and the ingredients were fresh. My husband's chimichanga had plenty of sauce and was tasty. We were staying across the street at the Best Western and decided to stop here for lunch. We are glad that we did! read more

Loved it, but this was (ironically) our 1st & 3rd choice - E&O address doesn't exist & no one answers phone, Casa Blanca staff was overwhelmed, so we came back to Mi Pueblo. Maps shows it on south side of I40, but it's actually just north, on the back side of Winslow Fuel & c-store. So glad we found it! If you're local, feel free to chuckle at my review. For everyone else, be advised that this is more New Mexican than Mexican or Tex-mex. The first clue is the salsa that is red chile based, not tomato. Delicious, flavorful & may be zestier than you're used to. Joe had the platillo Mexicano which was the ultimate sampler: red chile cheese enchilada, red chile pork tamale, chile relleno, taco & green chile smothered pork chop. I had the green chile beef enchilada special. Both came with retried beans & rice. Dinner was delicious & authentic. Thoroughly enjoyed it! If you're concerned about the spice level, go with the green chile options - tasty, but less spicy than the red chile. No margaritas, but a nice selection of domestic & Mexican beers. As many have said, the service was excellent - very friendly! The chips and salsa were ok. Not great, just ok. I had the flacos tacos - 4 crispy tacos, so a large amount of food. They were not bad, but I wouldn't say tasty. The rice was somewhat watery. My husband got the soft chicken tacos and again - not bad, but not really tasty.
