Worst California Burrito I've ever had. This was hyped up for me for the longest time and finally was able to try it. The fries were too cooked, I'm talking chip crispy and the carne asada was burnt, equally as crispy. This burrito was super crunchy and I've never had that before. I'm sure it's not the standard but my god the cooks should've known to use some new fries and use new meat. I was excited to try this place again, hoping for a nostalgic taste of how it used to be back in the day in National City. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the memory. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I walked in, most of the tables still had food debris on them not just crumbs, but full-on leftover mess.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I tried to be understanding; maybe they were short-staffed or the previous diners had just left. No big deal, so I went up to order. That's when things got more uncomfortable. The cashier was eating at the register, mid-bite, with food all over her mouth while trying to take my order. It felt unprofessional and honestly off-putting, but I still went ahead and ordered a beef taco and a side of beans. The food was a letdown. The taco was overcooked to the point of being burnt and hard like biting into a shell made of charcoal. The beans tasted more like chorizo grease than actual beans, and lacked any real flavor. This spot used to be known for bold, comforting flavors. Sadly, that taste has completely declined. I won't be returning any time soon. read more

Wow, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Birria de Chivo (Goat stew) on the daily menu. I had to give it a shot, and that dish was excellent. It was warm and a bit spicy, but not too much, with plenty of meat and freshly made tortillas. Not many places have good birria in San Diego, but it is definitely place worth eating in. read more

The food here is dolid. But they do have a cook who is relatively new and all that I can say is that it isn't as good with her. I believe they lost one of there good cooks when they went through transition of moving to their new location. That being said it is a solid place with decent service. read more

Disappointed. Called in an order this morning for 2 steak and egg burritos, 1 chorizo burrito, 1 horchata, and 1 Jamaica. Got home and opened 2 burritos and they were both bacon,ham, and egg burritos. They gave us the wrong order. Luckily, they charged us for that and didn't over charge us. Jamaica wasn't very sweet either. Used to go here for their breakfast burritos and now will probably never go back. It's probably good they are moving. read more

Really sad to say goodbye to Mi Tierra. What used to be our favorite local place for Mexican food has gone downhill. My husband enjoyed his food but my shrimp burrito was mostly tortilla. I got four bites into my burrito before I hit a bite with shrimp in it. Then had several more bites of just tortilla in there while eating. Really disappointed to see their quality/portions go down so much. I think probably 40% of the burrito was just tortilla with cheese. Although we have gone quite a few times after noticing wrong orders/worsened quality, I think this is officially the last time we go. read more

Wow where to start... As a born and raised San Diegan I have done my fair share of taco shop stops. This taco shop is the best in National City. I've been on the hunt for the best in my new neighborhood and have found it. Top faves: *anything with carne asada will be delicous. Why is that? Meat is grilled they don't do short cuts. Years of great service have gone down the drain! The one guy that was so welcoming is gone from this site. Now they don't answer the phone , and the gal there isn't pleasant at all. I even asked her if there was small order of sopez, she simply said "NO," rather than say let me check (if she is new as lady in the back told me), they will most certainly lose business with the gal in the front now!! I love this authentic Jalisco style MexiCAN restaurant. The heat levels of the salsa are custom made to order and let me tell you the super spicy request is indeed SUPER SPICY. They even carry glass bottled MexiCAN soda, which pairs well with the burst of authentic flavors of the food. I've never been disappointed with their breakfast or dinner dishes. I highly recommend the tacos and the chilaquiles. The burritos are also HUGE. Their menudo soup is also very enticing. They even have this delicious corn bread dessert that seals the meal. I ordered a carne asada burrito with NO beans, and the meat was burnt and very hard to chew and to top it off it was very DRY. There was nothing good about it. Stumbled into this place as a substitute to Tacos El G. When you have Taco in your name I assume you make tacos well. Any who ordered cabeza and adobada tacos. Cabeza was ok but the adobada was terrible. I was worried when they took the meat out of the fridge and microwaved it. Then when it got to my plate the type of pork was not a good cut. Very low quality of meat and still had a lot of cartilage in it. The only reason I gave 2 stars was because the handmade tortillas. Otherwise it would just be 1 star. The salsa is not that good and all these people writing these reviews need to expand their pallets because this place ain't it. read more

It is something about hole in the wall taco shops that causes me to fall in love....like I knew from the second I walked in, I was exactly where I was meant to be. Now i could see myself coming here every week...and I literally have lol. It's a bit of a drive from the crib but i still be doing it lol. It's basically like you're going to your tia's or abuelita's home for some good ol' authentic Mexican cooking!!! This review is for their scrumptious breakfast burrito: a breakfast burrito that is not on the menu, but is simply was the Super Breakfast Burrito with bacon, ham, egg, and cheese but without the fries and added pico de gallo for about $6. if I remember correctly. The burrito was of a good size and came with a good quality buttery warm flour tortilla. The eggs were decently scrambled. I say "decent" because they could of scrambled the white and yellows better. On a good note, they tasted great and were seasoned well. The ham that was intermixed with them was tender and savory. I was very glad I included the pico because it was freshly prepared and tasted great. I would of liked a little more Serrano peppers in it though, but that's just the way I roll. They use a grated white cheese and they put a lot of it in the burrito. I'm not sure what brand it was, but I a pretty sure it tasted like Monterrey Jack cheese. I am not complaining because it tasted very good. The red salsa I had from the salsa bar was good. It had a mild hear and good flavor. They lady who made and brought out my burrito was very nice. I enjoyed a very good cup of house coffee with my meal. It was mild and smooth and only cost $1 and some change. The place reminds me of and mom and pop place I would find on a busy commercial street in Mexico with home style cooking with out that fancy flare. read more

Their mulitas and Chile verde de puerto were really good, delish. The puerco was tender and the flour tortillas are huge. I just wished the Chile verde combo had more rice . Still rolling on my.mole.kick, I found this cool little spot that was pretty good. Very friendly staff. Nice and open seating. Parking was easy. Prices are good and for the one plate I ordered I liked it. The mole wasn't the usual sweet style I have been getting. It is a little.lighter color and no prominant chocolate taste. I tasted more of the chilies and spices. It was sort of thing but combined with the delicious, tender and seasoned chicken, it was pretty good. Beans and rice are the best I have had in awhile. This place doesn't look like my co when you walk but it is not much because the goat tacos. They are pretty good but the meat be dry and the salsa be too spicy. The birria tacos are good do not get me wrong but in comparison to other nearby places uhm I'm going to have to say in my birria adventures this place ranks last in my birria adventure. First time try next to school on lunch. Walked in: clean average taco shop decor. Menu is big you can find pretty much all your Mexican staples in one place. I went for chilaquiles with two over easy eggs and only beans no rice. It came out 4 mins after I ordered; not joking!! It was amazing, because we are always on a time crunch for lunch.
