I was coming here when a typical platter was, $ 10.25 a breaded steak was $12.95 And the taste has diminished considerably. Beans had little taste. the beaf soup of which I loved was a big disappointment no flavor . In fact I usually finish right down to the last drop. Not today! No taste. Meat seemed to be taste less and not as lean as typically had. Maybe its this bowl but wife commented also . The cilantro seemed to have more parsley than cilantro. The liquid in it seems water down. But the real shocker was the price. Granted, a sizeable portion, but doesn't account for no flavor. Most locals frequently come here so they may not notice the gradual changes. But I returned to NY after 10 years. So I immediately noticed the difference. We use to eat here a minimum of 2x a week. And had many of their dishes. I've been coming here for as long as I can remember. This time I recently went I called in and ordered a bandeja for pick up. When I get there the lady in the front was extremely rude and seemed like she didn't want to be there. I asked her if I could please get the dressing for the salad and she said she has no idea what I'm talking about? Then I get home with the food to find out that food is super under cooked there was no salad dressing and no hot sauce either? After they said it was in the bag. I'm just very disappointed with the service and the food overall. Food is always delicious. I have been coming here over 10 years. I always get the breaded chicken, or the Carne Asada. Their chicken soup is pretty good as well. You get a lot of food you will definitely not be able to finish your food in one sitting. Prices are very cheap for all the food that you get. The service is very good as always. The fries were even bland I put salt on them but the damage was done they were cold rubber with salt in them . Stopped by got an order of the Arepa con queso as well as 2 orders of the empanadas plus some manzana soda to drink. Decent empanadas stuffed with a lot of meat which is always a good thing but the shell was soft I prefer when it's nice & crunchy. The Areapa con queso was not bad expect they use mozzarella instead of that white Colombian cheese not terrible but not as good taste better with the Spanish cheese. As for the place nice size seating up front which by the looks seems to be for quick orders the inside area more restaurant like. My boyfriend and I have been here a couple of times and always loved the food. However, the last two times we visited I noticed that the food was good, but not as great as it use to be. On my last two visits I ordered the seafood casserole and the Plato tipico. The seafood casserole lacked favor in my opinion, and my pork lion and steak was so well done it was borderline burnt. The food is ok and the prices are just a bit higher than one would expect but not unreasonable. the chicken is probably the best thing on the menu. I think theirs rate about 7-8 out of 10 but the other items on the menu which I have tried about a 6. very convenient if you are in Brentwood. parking tough in the front but there is a parking lot in the rear with plenty of space. read more

Well unfortunately the previous reviews were correct. The service was very very bad and I'm upset at myself for not being more careful knowing what previous reviews stated. I love trying new Colombian food and this was my first time ever ordering from them. I picked up my order and they had forgotten two items and one of them was a whole plate of rice and beans that comes with the steak. Shame on me for not checking before I left the restaurant but when I got home I called them. I told them about the missing items and how I was not going to drive back 20 minutes to go get it and I would just take a partial refund. They gave me the complete run around and kept putting different people on the phone in which all of them were either clueless or acted like they didn't know how to fix it. Eventually they said "call back in half hour when the manager is here." Sure enough, I called 1 hour later and "the manager" was still not there. Suddenly, seconds later another person gets on the phone and says they are the manager and are processing a partial refund. Well its been almost two weeks and no sign of a refund. Really huge. Gigantic, really. I had the Mi Tierrita platter, which came with pork loin, steak, a quarter of a rotisserie chicken, salad, avocado,& rice and beans. My daughter had a platter that had pork rinds, plantains, egg & steak and rice and beans. My son had a half chicken that came with incredible chicken soup that had tons of chicken, potatoes & cilantro and rice and beans. My husband had tongue, wtih potatoes and, yes, rice and beans! I'm only gonna judge this place on its glorious chicken. To me this place is great for its rottiserie chicken. The flavor is outstanding and the value is unsurpassed. $11.95 for the half chicken platter which comes with a huge side of white rice and black beans. The chicken is served on a bed of French fries with a small helping of lettuce and a tomatoe. While waiting for your entree you are served what I call the dirty chicken soup. I call it that because its not your average outta the can clear consomme with a few nuggets of dried out white meat. This is your cooked for hours fresh vegetable pieces of chicken on the bone including the gizzards chicken soup. You can't see the bottom of the bowl Til you've slurped up the last drop. And you will. It is arguably the best chicken soup I've ever had and by itself is worth the price of admission. I've had some of the other items on the menu and the only other thing worth having in my opinion is the arroz compollo with authentic chorizo sausage. The so called steak here is dry thin and overcooked. I do see that its ordered quite often but I can't explain why. I've tried it and I think it would make a better sandle sole than an entree. Just have to be honest. It hurts me to say because as I've said I love this place. The service is fine the place is clean and the parking is good. Oh! Don't let me forget the sangria. i had dinner in this restaurant last wednesday, food wasn't good and fresh but i was so hungry i ate it anyways. after dinner my stomach wasn't feeling too well. thursday, i started to feel sick and it got worse by friday. i was having really painful cramps, sweating, cold, chills, dizzy and you know, all the food poisoning symptoms. it was so horrible and painful. i had to cancel all my plans for the weekend and took monday off from work cuz i was in a lot of pain. i got food poisoning in the past but this was the worse i gotten. today is the 5th day, i feel very weak and lost so much weight from this. i am traumatize! i will NEVER recommend this restaurant. read more

This is the second Mi Tierrita restaurant I been to. The one in Patchogue is second best compared to this place. This is definitely the better one of the two. The bandeja tipica and the chicken platter was great. The blood sausage is to die for. The chicken platter comes with a bowl of chicken soup which was delicious. The meal also came with rice and beans, fries, and 1/2 a chicken. The chicken typically is dry, but NOT THIS PLACE. It was moist!!! Bandeja was also tasty.
