Columbian chicken place. . . the terra cotta tiles on the roof-theme continues inside. Rotisseries up front, kitchen sealed-off to the right, clean atmosphere, and a bar you can't sit at. Very inexpensive restaurant with take-out option. The Arroz con pollo has chorizo in it and comes w/ fries. The chicken soup lets nothing go to waste. . . livers, hearts etc. Awesome and fatty. . . you gotta see this food when you take it out of your fridge the next day and its all gelatinous lard. Delicious Colombian food. The atmosphere is very casual and great for families. I had the Typical Platter (Grilled steak, chicharron, egg, corn cake, sweet plantain, avocado, rice and beans ) My favorite part of the meal was the chicharron (fried pork rinds). I would love to eat an entire plate of it but I want my daughter to grow up with a father. The steak was the only thing I didn't enjoy since it was tough. My wife really liked her rotisserie chicken. Come early for lunch because this place gets packed pretty quickly after noon on the weekends. They even have to hire a parking attendant to direct the parking in their lot. read more

We were given menus and asked for our orders - that was it. No recommendations, no specials, and no warmth. Our meals came and everything we ordered was very good. This restaurant has great food. The service is a bit slow but the food makes up for it. The best Chicken and rice you have ever tasted. The breaded steak comes in at a close second. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because the area where you pick up your take out is overcrowded. Its a little hard difficult to enjoy your meal when you have so many people standing around your table. I love the food here so most of the time I just take out myself. While it is great that this business (which has pretty goo food) has a great and safe setup to follow guidelines given to us during COVID-19, we ordered a tray of empanadas over the phone. We were told it would be 25 mins until they are ready, we have now been waiting for 1 hour in their parking lot...waiting for empanadas. Maybe it was a bad day in the kitchen, but customers who come here as frequently as we do don't deserve an attitude when they are bringing an actual problem to the restaurant's attention. You don't set that kind of expectation for food to be ready and then make people wait 3-4x longer than expected. The wait here wasn't too bad. We were seated relatively quickly considering it was Mother's Day. Once seated, the wait for our server wasn't too bad either. The seats were uncomfortably close to the tables. The menu had a wide variety of foods. The menu was in both English AND Spanish. So this is good for the Americans that long for Hispanic food but don't know what to order. The dishes we ordered were large - family style servings. We ordered a steak plate and a chicken plate. Both orders came with a side salad and white rice with beans. The steak came with sweet plantains while the chicken came with a full size salad. I just reviewed the Patchogue locations of this small local chain..... as I said for Patchogue, good food, plenty of it, and not expensive. If I understand correctly, this is the first location. Went with three friends from work. Portions were huge (better than Donald Trump style Huge). Margaritas were great, price is very reasonable, heading toward cheap. The Fried Fish, the Typical Platters (pork, beef & chicken ), the fried pork skins, even the rice and beans, all delicious. Four gigantic main courses, with two apps and two pitchers of Margaritas, and tax it was $150.00 before tipping. Really good food. And a lot of it. It helps to speak Spanish, much of the clientele is Spanish-speaking, but don't worry if you don't, the servers help us gringos along just fine. The menu is in English and Spanish equally. The food here is normally great and always affordable, however I only gave it 3 stars due to the slow erratic service and some dishes today were just ok. The empanadas with the house made "aji" are full of seasoned beef inside a corn patty. The pork"chicharron" was too hard and over cooked. The "Consume" soup is suppose to be a mixture of different things but mind seemed to only have chicken. It comes with a hearty side of white rice & red beans which can be a meal in itself, just add some aji. A great dish to try is the "Bandeja Campesina" with a large thin steak, Colombian sausage, chicharron, rice, beans & a sunny side up egg. It is a meal for a cowboy!!! The steak with soft seasoned grilled onions on top is a great choice if you don't want too much food. They have house made chimichurri but you must request it. My sister in law got the salmon and she loved it. This place has 2 other locations, we have been to the one in Hempstead which has Great service and food comes out quick and at once. Here the plates came out sporadically and took forever. In their defense it's the 1st time it has happened to us.....Maybe the fact that their was a Colombian soccer game in progress did not help! I ordered a Juice and tasted like mountain Dew I sent it back and asked for a Maracuya ..... 20 min later still no drink I canceled my drink. The rice was hard the beans were dry. Went there for my Mother in laws birthday supper yesterday. We've come here before in the past and we're usually very happy with the food. I always get the Churrasco and love the fact that it comes on a sizzle plate (but it does tend to overcook the steak). As always the arroz y frijoles are always good stick your bones food. The only down side to my dish was the chimmichuri was lacking flavor and the picante sauce had little to no heat. My wife got the bandeja tipica and the corn cake was tasteless and the chicarron was rock solid and inedible, again thank goodness for the frijoles to add flavor to everything. My mother in law got the Sancocho de pescado (seafood soup) and was very pleased with it. The food was more of a miss today than in the past. As for the service, they were decent, however our waitress must have been very new. She offered us coffee but no dessert. I had to chase her down to get a piece of flan with a candle in it. Overall I'll come back because my Mother in law likes the place, but I prefer the Mi Tierrita in Hempstead. The ambiance here is also kind of lacking, but I'm in it more for the food! read more

I have been a customer here since 2011. The food is good very good food to be exact. I take my children occasionally to eat there because the prices are great especially for the amount of food you get. I'm giving 1 star due to the fact that there is a "HUGE ROACH INFESTATION ISSUE" ok so the Summer of 2017 I go with my older Son for lunch, I ordered the chicken platter and a Columbiana soda, the waitress brings over a cup with ice and I began to inspect the cup as I do everything there is a mashed cockroach in the inside of the cup. I told the manager and I was informed that exterminating had been done and would be done again. I didn't eat here for months after. I started eating there again, so tonight I order churasco with salad which had avocado onion and lettuce, as I'm eating and moving my salad around looking as I always do there's a damn dead cockroach in the salad on the plate. I am disgusted with this place that I once thought was the best Colombian Restaurant around here. I'm sorry to say do not eat here unless they are closed and then revamped this place needs it because for a COCKROACH to be in my cup first and then salad next...I know some of you have eaten roaches because you didn't check your food. This place's food is amazing, very good even the next day. Its not a great date night spot if you are the romantic gentleman like myself. The portions are for the chunky person inside all of us. I had dinner with my Wife and we ordered two meals but ended up splitting one there and will the other tonight. The atmosphere is basically McDonalds and service is average but maybe its the language barrier but they are not the nicest people. Positively the best rice and beans I have ever had. I had friends visit me who have never been to NY recently, and they had noooo words for the tastiness set before them. I had the breaded fish (flounder), my friends had the arroz amarillo con pollo and steak. All were great and they were very satisfied (they give a lot of food). This is by far on my top 5 places to eat on LI. It's crowded on Sundays, be patient if you're not Latino or do yourself a favor and order to go, and try EVERYTHING. If you go in a group, make it a small one because one of the staff gave me a hard time about separating the check. I came here expecting a very nice meal or at least decent. The service was terrible getting into the restaurant and it got no better when they served us. First off, I ordered a very simple drink and they brought the entire table alcohol and forgot about my drink. After we repeatedly told them they forgot to bring my drink, they still didn't bring it out and they started to give us our food. Not to mention they served us the wrong meals that we did not ask for and I still didn't have my drink. Maybe like 10minutes later, they bring me out a coke and said they were out of the drink I ordered and the coke tasted like a horrible watered down cider water type coke. I've been to Mi Tierrita every since the 90s! This place is really amazing! Food: (4/5) The food is fantastic and flavorful! I highly recommend having the fruit drinks (especially the milkshakes), pechuga de pollo, soups, and empanadas. They're amazing and portions are very generous! Food wait can take a long while so be prepared for that. Atmosphere: (4/5) Be very aware this place attracts a LOT of people since it's extremely well-known. Expect a wait for a table which can sometimes be 15-20 minutes. Decor is pretty nice and it's been expanding over the years. Staff: (5/5) They are very friendly. If you have kids, they provide crayons and a coloring placemat to keep them busy while waiting. Parking: (3/5) They now have a valet because the parking can be insane even with their own lot. Despite the wait, it's better to park in their lot. Weekends can get pretty crazy. Take-out: (5/5) Please be aware you may be waiting for 20-30 minutes (sometimes longer depending on how busy they are) but it's absolutely worth it!
