Another 5 stars! Newish owners (previous ones retired some time in 2024) continue the tradition of offering great prepared foods, fantastic variety of Italian groceries and outstanding service. The place is small yet mighty and very clean. If you are in Millburn you have to stop by their deli! I was greeted by friendly owners and staff and had a good selection of Italian choices for my lunch. My daughter wanted the meatballs and I got the Italian chicken cutlet sub. Their sauce is hearty, the meatballs were authentic, the chicken cutlet was tender and the bread was delicious! Tried calling in an order today from two different phones but no dial tone, so that was odd. Went in person anyway because of the promising reviews. This place does not disappoint. I got the Jersey Italian Sub and my GF got the Prosciutto Sub. Also picked up some cole slaw and a couple of spicy homemade sausages we will have for brekkie in the AM. I know people in the area love Millburn Deli, as I do, but Mia Famiglia Inc will now be my go-to for an Italian sub. Nothing better in the SOMA area that I've found so far. Let me start off by professing my undying devotion to this Italian deli. I did t know it existed until my Daughter raves about the breakfast sandwich made here. It is a masterpiece. Pancetta, mozzarella & eggs on a roll. Made fresh in this tiny store crammed with Italian goodies. Every single person in the store made me feel like a lifelong customer. The warmth was genuine and heartfelt. Italian music playing was quite pleasant. While I waited for the sandwiches I began buying more. Sun dried tomatoes in olive oil were mouth watering. The Semolina bread was indeed the best in New Jersey. The smoked mozzarella cheese was fantastic. The piece de resistance was the white Italian figs. So superior to any fig I've ever had. Everything in this store looked amazing. I will be coming back again to try their lunch sandwiches and so much more. Located near the Millburn Shop Rite this is a must visit for sure. What a treat! Came in to pick up some prepared foods for dinner and every single thing was outstanding. - chicken cutlets were incredibly moist and perfectly flavored. Breading was not too thick (tasted more like a dusting) and was sprinkled with fresh herbs - delicious meatballs (both meat and vegetarian version made with eggplant) - caponata (apparently one of their best sellers). So much to the flavor - tang of green olives, richness of oil and eggplant, sweetness of tomatoes And the owners could not have been kinder. Stumbled on Mia Famiglia on Yelp and headed over. This place is just what I was looking for. A small family owned Italian market that makes solid Sammie's. I got the Friday special baked eggplant parm and the meatballs and both were excellent but the eggplant was the winner ! The meatballs came with a nice layer of homemade mozzarella nice touch. This is one of the best Italian delis in all of New Jersey. I've tried most! The other day I tried their polpette di melanzane and it was life changing. It's essentially an eggplant meatball! I made my red sauce and crumbled the eggplant in and it tastes just like a bolognese!!! You can't even tell it's eggplant! It's my last weekend in New Jersey and this was a great last dish to enjoy! We were in a pinch. We needed an Italian specialty dolce and were near my home. A little help from Google and this place popped up. I wasn't even sure it still existed especially in Millburn. Homemade sausage, meatballs, mozzarella cheese, and numerous salads are made fresh daily. Good selection of frozen foods, including the best frozen ravioli I have found. The fresh mozzarella melts in your mouth, and the bread is sourced from Brooklyn. The proprietors here could not be friendlier or more helpful, and show real enthusiasm for their business and their customers. Its tough out here in the burbs, not as many Yelpers. i tried Belgiovines in Montclair, Milburn Deli, and countless others in a 15-20 mile range. None of them have come close to Mi Famiglia. First of all, the sandwiches...#1 with a bullet is the Muffaletta...its to die for, then their chicken cutlets, aye dios mio, and their fried eggplant? Sublime. Theyve also got great egg sandwiches...not your average 2 fried eggs and amer cheese on a roll either...these are served on like these mini italian rolls with fresh italian sausage or taylor ham, etc...delicious. On top of that, the proprietors are sweethearts, and in addition to all the great sandwiches and cold case items, they've got very interesting food items, condiments, spreads, pastas, and olive oils on their shelves as well. Its a small place so no room for tables (as another reviewer mentioned in a unnecessarily bitchy review)so you'll need to take it back to your home or place of work; small sacrifice for such an superb establishment.
