Jersey does sandwiches right and this deli proves it. I got the Jersey Italian: ham, Genoa salami, provolone, lettuce, tomato, red onion, vinegar, olive oil, and herbs on an Italian roll. At nine inches it hit the spot. ;) In fact, it's big enough for two, and perfect as is. With a great balance of vinegar and cheese and a dusting of parm, it had that classic flavor you can't fake. If this sandwich ran for governor, it would win. We also tried a couple of their Sfogliatelle. It was flaky, crisp, filled, and way bigger than expected. Another 5 stars! Newish owners (previous ones retired some time in 2024) continue the tradition of offering great prepared foods, fantastic variety of Italian groceries and outstanding service. The place is small yet mighty and very clean. What a treat! Came in to pick up some prepared foods for dinner and every single thing was outstanding. - chicken cutlets were incredibly moist and perfectly flavored. Breading was not too thick (tasted more like a dusting) and was sprinkled with fresh herbs - delicious meatballs (both meat and vegetarian version made with eggplant) - caponata (apparently one of their best sellers). So much to the flavor - tang of green olives, richness of oil and eggplant, sweetness of tomatoes And the owners could not have been kinder. The fresh mozzarella melts in your mouth, and the bread is sourced from Brooklyn. The proprietors here could not be friendlier or more helpful, and show real enthusiasm for their business and their customers. Theyve also got great egg sandwiches...not your average 2 fried eggs and amer cheese on a roll either...these are served on like these mini italian rolls with fresh italian sausage or taylor ham, etc...delicious. On top of that, the proprietors are sweethearts, and in addition to all the great sandwiches and cold case items, they've got very interesting food items, condiments, spreads, pastas, and olive oils on their shelves as well.
