I have had dinner here on several occasions. I almost always end up ordering the Miso Salmon over sticky rice. It is by far my favorite menu item. I add a side order of the greens, as well. My wife and I both feel that the greens are the best in town - always tender. My wife likes the salmon with balsamic mustard glaze as her favorite. We have also had most of the steaks which have also been good. The bar area is very nice. We like to make reservations for 8:30. We usually arrive around 7:45 and enjoy a drink until our table is ready. The front of the house staff is friendly and upbeat. The only slight negative is the food is sometimes slow to come out of the kitchen. Not bad but inconsistent. read more

Called Alberinis on Saturday night at 5:30pm to place a to go order and was told they were not accepting to go orders until 8:30pm. I wouldn't have been so upset, if my cousins and I hadn't planned a night in with Alberinis to go for three weeks! If they aren't going to accept to go orders consistently, than something needs to be put on their website. So we spent $80 at another restaurant, which would have probably been $150 at Alberinis. If we would have went to the restaurant, we likely wouldn't have waited 3 hours to sit down. As much as I love Alberinis, poor customer service like this will make me never come back. During a time like COVID where local folks want to support local businesses, it is appalling you would turn away current and future business. When someone complains about people supporting chain restaurants, remember this story. Because tonight, a chain got my money and will get my future business! read more

This is an excellent restaurant that is so much more than the plaza it's located in. The selection of wines for sale upon entering is really nice, considering that the prices are reasonable and that also being this close to Pa, I can pick up a nice bottle for dinner on the way home. The food is very good. American nicely done, with influences of Asian and Italian dishes on the menu. I really enjoy the interior. The lighting and design remind me more of a restaurant found in a New York neighborhood as opposed to Boardman, Ohio. I highly recommend trying! read more

Went here for dinner. I'm from out of town. Lamb chops were so under done they were purple. A guest at my table said her cucumber melon martini tasted medicinal. The cannoli were stale. I was told the bread they brought to the table was actually fresh. People stare at you in this restaurant awkwardly. The escargot was amazing though. My husband and I have dined here in the past - food is consistently good; they make an excellent martini. However, the service is either excellent or truly shoddy. Our last visit ended in is walking out after waiting for almost 15 minutes with NO SERVICE - and they were not crowded. There is no excuse for this. Wait staff were congregated at the far end of the bar watching TV and visiting. We were patient - sometimes there is confusion regarding table assignment. We gently pushed the closed menus to the end of the table and attempted eye contact with servers who strolled past - no luck. There are too many good choices within 1/4 mile of this place to put up with this. We walked. Never again. In reading other reviews you see consistent issues with wait staff - this is just poor management. Too bad as the food is good. read more

When is $2 enough to never go back to a restaurant? Went for dinner and asked for bread with oil. Didn't get the bread until we already had our food and still didn't get the oil to dip it in. Asked again for the oil, it came as we were finishing up the meal. Got the check and saw we were charged $2 for the oil! I questioned the waitress and she just shrugged ans said nothing she could do about it. I asked her to take it to her manager. She returned with the check and the $2 was still on the bill. I told her to tell the manager/owner we would never return and again she shrugged and wished us a pleasant evening. If the food and service were awesome I might overlook one waitress's cavalier attitude but the food is only so-so and obviously the staff doesn't care if we return or not so we choose NOT and recommend you avoid it as well.. read more

An okay wine list helps rescue a very average dining experience. You will find Caymus, L'Ecole, and a few others that are very drinkable. The menu reads well, but the execution is mediocre. Lobster ravioli was very chef-boy-ar-dee with a frozen claw perched in the middle. Antipasti appetizer was canned and unimaginative. I've had worse....no one got food poisoning tonight....but not a memorable meal in any sense. I will say, though, that the staff was very polite and attentive, and our group experienced none of the issues related by other reviewers. Good waiter who had an excellent sense of when to interject and when to wait, good hostess, good management. They seem to have solved those particular problems. However....contrary to the google reviews out there, there's no way the chef ever worked at the Venetian in Vegas, let alone being the head chef. Unless it was at the $5 breakfast buffet. We have been here a half dozen times. The food is very good, with the exception of the pork chops, they are outstanding. They rival any of the major spots in Pittsburgh. We also like the calamari and lamb lollipops. However service is inconsistent, the first time in everything was Class A from there it was hit or miss. Given the high price entrées there is no reason not to hire or spend the money to train their staff to perform to higher service standards. Yet in Boardman I would still state they are the benchmark for the quality of food. What is not to like about Michael Alberini's? The atmosphere is lovely, the drinks are perfect, the menu selection and specials hit all the right buttons and the preparation, presentation and service are top notch. If I had to name my favorites.... The calamari and lasagna. I really don't think either can be improved upon as both are excellent. Last but not least, we are wine enthusiasts and their selection has introduced us to wines we might never have come across anywhere in the area. They deserve my 5 stars! read more

First and last time going here. Everyone at the table was served cold food. One person never got their food. Waitress put in order wrong and by the time we were all done eating the last persons food had not even come out yet. Waitress spilled food down my wife's back. Manager came out to try and smooth it over.... brought the ones person food and said please take it now charge... gee thanks. My first time here, I loved the place! That is why my boyfriend and I decided to go back for his birthday last night... I don't know if I'll ever go back again. When we arrived they seated us promptly but not only did we not get a drink menu but it took our waitress 20 minutes to even bring us a drink menu and water. I don't blame her due to the fact they were extremely busy, but they obviously need to be better staffed for weekends. The biggest disappointment of all was our entrees. Our appetizers were amazing, but not only did my boyfriend not get the entree he actually ordered, but my steak was so underdone that I swear it was still mooing. I sent it back, which I hate to do, and it still came back underdone. Plus, I honestly do not think the meat they gave us was filet mignon. I'm a huge foodie and a big home cook, so I know what each cut of steak looks like. Unexpected pleasure. In a sea of chain restaurants surrounding this place it was an excellent choice. It is set back in a Value City (no longer open) parking lot. Then you walk in to wine stacked everywhere. But don't leave, the food is great and cheap! We had a special Beef tips and Grill fired fish. went in with some friends to get dinner and my entree was very salty, almost inedible. the vegetables with the entree were cold. the only decent thing was the salmon. my girlfriend got steak that wasn't cooked correctly and had little to no flavor. when we told the manager he gave us a free dessert which was ALSO bad. when we complained about that as well (and we usually never complain) the manager said there was nothing he could do and wouldn't refund us even though we disliked our food and dessert. the bill was over $150 and we did not receive any refund. only passes to come back. we will not be returning. read more

I love this place, and Micheal. Really a gem of the area. The wine is spectacular, as a sommelier whenever I have time off I try to spend it here. After a Pirates game I was out with my wife and another couple trying to figure out some place good to eat. A new restaurant opened in town but I stated I didn't want to go to a nice place in my Pirates T-shirt. My friend suggested Michael Alberinis. I instantly liked the appearance of the interior upon entering. While I did wear a t shirt I also could have worn a shirt and tie and not felt overdressed. We were instantly greeted by the hostess upon entering as well as greeted by a server and the bartender upon entering the bar area. In all honesty we planned to have a few drinks then go somewhere else for dinner. After eating the steak skewers we knew there was no other place we needed to be. We stayed a few hours at the bar drinking and trying the different appetizers, all of which were good. I love spicy food and the stuffed hot peppers were delicious. I loved the music they had playing on the jukebox and the fact I could download an app that allowed me to control it. Although the bartender remained busy she still gave my wife and I attention making us feel like we were the only ones there. After we received our first appetizer a man came out to check on us then introduced himself as Michael Alberini. He was delightful and had a conversation with my wife and I stating if we needed anything to have someone find him. It's not often I've eaten somewhere where the owner not only does the table touches but is also personable. Overall everything about our visit was A+: the food, specialty drinks, lounge area, and appearance. I look forward to returning soon. read more

I went to this restaurant as a member of a wedding party in the banquet room in the back, and aside from out food being considerably later (not my complaint, the food was really good, i had the steak with the green beans, which was really really good!) my only qualm was this: i came with 2 young children (a 2 year old and a 5 month old) and i wasn't the only mother of young babes in attendance) and after being at the wedding and in the banquet room for at least an hour my babes needed diaper changes.. well i took the toddler first to the ladies room, and there was no changing table in the ladies room at all, not in the handicapped stall or by the sinks, nothing. so i found one of our servers and inquired, and she politely said "no we dont have any changing tables". i found this odd because its a fancy restaurant, huge wine selection in the front and really good food, but maybe they didnt think anyone would bring babies to an establishment that like to specialize in their wine selection and large bar area. Alas, i was there with my babies. seeing my displeasure with this the server suggests i can kneel on the bathroom floor in the handicapped stall, i was NOT going to do this, nice close from the wedding or not, and also my wiggly son woulda been off my small changing mat in no time playing on a bathroom flood. at that response she suggests setting up one of their trays on one of those "X" stands and lay him on that, making a make-shift table in the bathroom. this was a nice thought, however the bathroom wouldn't have been large enough for this, and also, again my toddler likes to fight and play at diaper time.. and i forsaw those collapsible "X" server table things not working to my benefit. so i took my changing mat into a less populated corner of the banquet hall and proceeded to change my childrens' diapers, a few times that evening.. again the food was great! i was impressed by the house dressing on the salad, im normally a ranch only kinda gal, but their balsamic whatever came with our salad was impressively yummy. and the steak was really good. i was just perturbed by the lack of changing table. i can see how a classier restaurant wouldn't want that in their bathroom, not attractive but i cannot eat at this establishment because i cant have my babies sitting in their soiled diapers the whole time while i ate... read more

One of the best meals I have ever eaten!! The staff is very attentive and kind! This place has been super busy both times I've been here! The menu is a little more diverse and not the "normal" run of the mill food selections. Which can be scary for someone that doesn't like to try new things, but both times my food was incredible! The food is good and this must be the only reason this place is in business. We've had several bad experiences with the service, and even spoke with the manager, and from our experience this weekend, it looks as nothing has changed. We had an 8:30 reservation, and were seated right away, but there was no acknowledgement of our existence for 15 minutes, and then all we got is water. After 20 minutes, a waitress, who was obviously not happy that she had to wait on us, let us know she would be right with us. We sat for 30 minutes with just water! It was embarrassing because we had brought another couple with us, and we were all starving! The other review about kids running the front desk was right on. What a mistake. The wife and I went here for dinner recently, thinking that the parking lot full of people was a good indication of quality. The problems start when you walk into a wine store(?). Why is this here? Do you buy wine and then sit down? BYO? I guess that's not so bad. The problems continue after the high-school aged host informs you that your bad attitude waitress is ready to seat you. The seating is total cheese ball 80's decor, but the bar looks decent (note to self). Service was poor. It took a very long time to get drinks that weren't very good and food. The food is average and catered to people that like very heavy, creamy american Italian food. I got the lasagna and will admit that it was much better the next day. A pool of heavy cream surrounded it when it was served to me, so i just ignored it. I understand that there's a market for this kind of food and probably why the parking lot is always full. The food came and went and we ran out as fast as possible, trying not to knock over the wine bottles in the liquor store.. Hey, maybe that's why they sell wine on the way out? You'll need to drink your bad experience away when you get home. We were expecting a higher than average dining experience and it was far from that. Food is good, beautiful décor, however, I am very disappointed because the customer service at the front desk is terrible. Everytime I call to make reservations, they act like they are so booked but when you get there it's practically empty. Also, we were celebrating on sunday with a party of 30 people (5 kids) and they would not accommodate everyone in the private room because they didn't have enough staff. So the kids sat out in the restaurant but they had someone out there serve them. Ridiculous!!! read more

Went there for my birthday and was quite impressed. Was familiar with the Alberinis on 422 strip but hadn't been there for some time; wanted to give this Alberinis a try out of curiousity. Agree with the very young hostess/desk employee comments previously...too much wardrobe adjusting and hair fluffing! Aside from that the service was great! My husband and I had filet steaks that were cooked to perfection - could have cut these with forks. Owner personally came to our table to greet us (probably knew we looked unfamiliar) and he was working the floor good. It was very busy and he was right in there clearing tables to keep things moving. Don't see that ever any more. Bottom line - high marks. Looking forward to my next visit. read more

Came here for my nephews 27th birthday celebration with a party of about 10 people. The restaurant is very elegant as I had been told. We had reservations for 5:15 and all had arrived by 6 pm. Our orders were not taken until about 6:30pm. At 7:30 pm, we still had not gotten our entrees. At about 8 pm, we got our entrees and I immediately told our waitress (I immediately noticed that her behavior was extremely erratic, odd) that my order was incorrect, she told me to take it anyway, and she would bring the side that I actually ordered. My mom got the short rib dinner, she said it was awful, she did not eat it. My mashed potatoes (which I never ordered) were cold and just about everyone said there potatoes were cold. Another person in my party ordered steak medallions that she seen on Alberini's online menu. When the medallions were bought to the table, there was mushroom gravy over the top that she said tasted bad. Our waitress told her that the preparation is correct and that Alberini's would not take it off of her check. The waitress asked if she wanted the kitchen to remove the gravy from the medallions.....this is unheard of and horrible customer service. I never received my order, my bone-in sirloin was OK but by this time I had had enough of our waitresses horrible customer service. I asked to speak the a supervisor/manager, who happens to be the owners Niece (which he came out and told us who she was after she insulted us all with her bad behavior and terrible customer service skills. We asked for our checks after we told Michael Alberini we did not want 3 of the meals and would not be paying for 3 of our meals due to it being cold, tuff, and the long wait. My waitress came and slung my bill at me (which included a $4.50 charge for the $21.00 bottle of wine that I purchased) and never came back to the table, not even for refills of water. She did not deserve a tip and neither did this establishment. Another in my party got a $17.50 charge for 2 margaritas that she had. This was a terrible ending to what was meant to be a joyous occasion for my precious nephews birthday. Michael Alberini tried to diffuse the situation by bringing out the cake, lighting it, and having his horrible staff sing Happy Birthday to my nephew, but it was too little, too late...we had had enough of being treated badly thanks to Michael Alberini and horrible staff. I will never set foot in this place again!!! Entire staff needs to be educated on good customer service techniques!!! Me and my mom were so hungry after this, we went to Rally's where we were greeted and treated with kindness and respect in the drive-through!!!
