He squeezed me into his schedule late on a Friday afternoon after the surgeon that performed my Mohs surgery near my eye said she really wished she had set up an appointment with a plastic surgeon to close the incision as she said this was more difficult than she anticipated. If I could give this Doctor a hundred stars, I would. This is the top level of care that you will find in Los Angeles. From the moment you enter the office you know that you are in great hands. I wanted to freshen up the appearance around my eyes (who wants to be asked repetitively if they're tired?!) and do it right so I consulted with not one, not two, but three Oculoplastic surgeons. First of all, if you want any kind of aesthetic eye surgery done, go to an Oculoplast. After they complete Medical School they undergo 2 additional years of training that focuses on surgery involving the eyebrows, forehead, eyelids, etc. In other words, they are specialists. Dr Burnstine was the third Oculoplast that I consulted and I was immediately impressed and knew that I would entrust my precious eyes to him. I was given the most comprehensive consultation I have ever had in my life, there was no question barred. He's a perfectionist (by his own admission), caring, warm as well as being a true artist in what he achieves. I booked my eye procedures on the spot. Nobody wants to look fake and pulled and ridiculous. Would you like to look just like you only better? How about looking refreshed and natural? Yes, you do. I will be forever grateful that my dermatologist recommended Dr. Burnstine. I had a questionable bump on my lower lid that turned out to be malignant. Although Dr. Burnstine performed the biopsy, I decided to do my homework and I consulted with three other highly recommended oculoplastic surgeons. I had skin cancer removed from my lower left eyelid. I was very scared of the entire process. Dr. Leavitt, my dermatologist recommended Dr. Burnstine to perform the cosmetic surgery following the Mohs procedure. I contemplated having upper and lower blepharoplasty for many years, but never pulled the trigger as I was conflicted about choosing a doctor. I knew that I did not want a surgeon who was going to make me look unlike myself. It was important for me to choose a highly skilled Oculoplastic Surgeon. Upon meeting Dr. Burnstine he told me, "If you want something over-the-top, I can refer you to a colleague in Beverly Hills". I knew with that statement that I picked the right surgeon who would only refresh my eyes, not reshape my eyes. Later during the consultation, he pointed out that I also had a condition called ptosis (basically a drooping eyelid) in one eye. This was something I had noticed in photos throughout my life, but somehow had just accepted this slight difference. I also chose to correct this condition with the blepharoplasty. I can't praise Dr. Burnstine and his staff enough. Getting my eyes 'done' is the best thing I've ever done for myself! The upper and lower lids of my eyes were so droopy. My peripheral vision was impacted from the extra skin drooping; my face/forehead hurt from holding my eyes open and my eyes watered terribly.
