We were up early and with a lot of miles to burn before our next stop, Hubby and I needed fuel for the road. Michael D's Eatery was up for that challenge. This seems to be a popular place with local residents since there was a lot of back and forth between tables. It is only open for breakfast and lunch and was crowded when we got there and still busy when we were ready to leave. But service was efficient and Amy W., our server, was friendly and helpful. Our order was taken quickly and the food arrived soon after, hot and delicious. I got an Irish Scrambler, Corned beef, green onion, scrambled eggs, potatoes & Swiss cheese with a dollop of sour cream. It is a really big helping and a very yummy combination of flavors. Hubby ordered Custard-Style Sour Dough French Toast which is two pieces of sour dough with honey spread, syrup and cinnamon sugar. It was a lot of food for our money and tends to demonstrate why they have so many customers. They have a large menu with lots of choices, service is good and the food is tasty. The decor is a little dated but the customer service and food are top notch. My son had the blueberry pancakes made with fresh blueberries. They're huge! He also got a cinnamon roll that was freshly drizzled with frosting. Both were delicious. I had veggies, eggs, and corned beef with tomatoes instead of potatoes. Everything was cooked perfectly. Coffee has changed from Cravens to Union and it's horrible! Go back to Cravens or better yet try Tubbs Coffee it's local and fits the area! Pancakes are good but they think they are gold nuggets! They used to have punch card after 10 get free meal now it too has changed to buy 10 meals get $5 off a meal! What a shame and slap in the face to your local customers! It's not like you haven't raised your prices! I wanted to substitute breakfast potatoes for the small pancake and they refused only for toast! However, you can substitute potatoes for a fruit and yogurt bowl which I'm sure costs them considerably more than a small pancake! Not my favorite breakfast place anymore! Sad read more

Be prepared to wait for a table since this place is a hot choice for breakfast! I recommend the corned beef hash, omelette or the traditional breakfast. This is a CDA staple. Goblets of mimosas, the best Benedicts in town and AMAZING corn beef hash. Everything is so fresh, seasoned well with prompt and courteous service. When I come into town, this is my "go to" breakfast place. I'm an out of town guest visiting family, and Michael D's feels like home to me every time I visit for the past 20+ years. I visited this eatery 5 years ago and was very happy with the service and menu items. I went yesterday with several friends and was pleased that the service and quality of food was still present. I ate on a weekend at and the restaurant was not busy. We tried the paleo waffle combo, Joe's Special and the Custard French Toast. Incredible flavors and the portions were ample. I would suggest the Spicey Tea which warmed the system up as it was cold and windy. read more

This diner does a good job with breakfast and lunch in the Coeur d Alene area! They close early afternoon each day . Their breakfasts are huge and filling. Their lunches are good as well, I wish they brought back the best chef salad in the area though to the menu. Their coffee is very good and the waitresses are fast and always around. Super guy owns this and its always packed on the weekends so except a small wait. They serve fried potatoes instead of my favorite, hashbrowns. Wish they had both options. Their serving sizes are large! You can definitely split something here. A great place to meet as well with a nice room in the back that can be used. Hands down the BEST breakfast in town. If you want a good meal not covered in grease then visit Micheal D's. The coffee is a good local blend, Doma, and the potatoes are quite possibly the best in my life! I prefer the chicken fried steak which comes with a good gravy and healthy portion of fries. The meals are always consistent, we get the same thing every time and it comes the same way! The service is great as well. On weekends expect a 20-30 minute wait. We were staying in the posh Coeur d'Alene Resort for a week of golf. After several successive mornings in the resort breakfast place, Dockside, we wanted something different and a change in pace. We asked the Concierge and she recommended this place after I asked her 'where the locals went for breakfast.' She was 'spot on!' It was only a short drive from the resort and easy to find just off the main street. It's a nice, casual place for breakfast and lunch, only. It's primarily American food. It has all the typical breakfast and lunch items on the menu. I had the Chicken Fried Steak & eggs over easy. My wife had a Mushroom Omelet. Her omelet was so large she was only able to eat about half of it! My Chicken Fried Steak was excellent - coating was crispy and not too thick; the beef was tender and juicy. It's as good as any I've had in Texas! My only negative was the gravy - a bit too thick and too much of it but that was easily remedied by scraping some of it off to the side. Oh, I almost forgot - the Home Fries are the best I've every had. I have no idea how they get so much flavor into them. And they were nice and crunchy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside - perfectly done! Our service was excellent. My coffee cup never ever came close to being empty! I worked at a business years ago that took our office on weekly meeting to this place and I am not joking when I say that though the office charged me for my meal ever week I hardly ever ate here because of the lack of quality. Years later my fiancé kept going on and on about how much positive information he had been hearing about the place and against my advice he took us for breakfast one morning. The food was as greasy as I remembered it and the service was even worse. Neither of us finished our meals and when it came time to pay the check we had to add it up ourselves and leave a note on the table as the waitstaff and apparently all the kitchen staff were on break together. I will never go here again and highly recommend that anyone debating the trip save their time and money...not to mention the calories. read more
