So we decided to give a new breakfast place a try. Well, new to us anyways. I tend to always try a chicken fried steak and eggs as my go to. And oh was I in for a treat. I haven't been to Michaels D's for years because I thought it was too hippy, but today we stopped in, and even through it was packed, we were seated quickly and our orders were taken promptly. While we waited we had Deluxe Blood Mary's, that were absolutely delicious!! But, by far, the Eggs Benedict were the Star of the day and worth the wait (which wasn't too long given that it was a packed Fathers Day morning). The Hollandaise was perfection. The thin shaved ham was so good and everything else was absolutely on point! I loved every bite of this meal and will be back again soon! Brian's Breakfast, an off menu item (crisp home fries covered with an Italian bean-less chili covered with cheese of choice) is very good. I was in a pancake mood, however, and they have blueberry... the good ones with the berries in the batter instead of the lazy version... you know, pie filling dumped on top. These cakes proved to be a big disappointment. They were very thin, almost crepe like, with an unpleasant, almost raw texture. I couldn't finish them. My wife's Paleo Waffle was surprisingly good. It is a gluten free offering made with rice and almond flour. I wish I had ordered it. Our breakfasts here have always been good, so I am leaving a positive rating. Eat here again?...yep. I will stay away from their pancake/crepe things though. read more

Exactly what we were looking for when wanting a local establishment to enjoy breakfast at. They just built a new outside deck and we enjoyed sitting out there amongst the pots of flowers. I have to say, we normally go to Jimmy's Down The Street but he had kitchen renovations so we decided to try Michael D's. What a disappointment! Service was okay but that was the only thing that we were happy with. The acoustics in the restaurant are pretty bad. My husband and I could barely hear each other. Our food was disappointing as well. I really enjoy hash browns and they don't even serve them. I thought that was odd. Then there was the gravy.... Who puts sugar in gravy??? It was inedible. Very cozy and welcoming inside as though you're at the cabin at the lake. Extremely friendly and helpful service. Generous portions. We split the custard style French toast in addition to our breakfasts and it was one of the best things I've ever eaten. The French toast melted in my mouth. Came for brunch one weekend. The Aspiring Omelette was decent but the mimosa was not worth the ~$8, the coffee mug was dirty and had food floating in it, and the coffee was flavorless. The sourdough bread was yummy, aside from the GLOBS of butter on it. In addition, upon arriving I asked the hostess if they allowed dogs outside and she told me they did. My friend and I proceed to bring our very well behaved dogs (who literally just laid under the table the entire time). The waitress then comes up to us telling us they actually don't allow dogs. Very distasteful both in behavior and food. Will not recommend or return. read more

Wow, this place is unexpectedly amazing! Went here for brunch with a group of friends and we all had a great time with wonderful food. Their Mimosas have actual fruit in them, they are quite yummy. The breakfast portions are freaking HUGE!!! OMG! I thought I was going to die, I could not stop eating, it was so delicious! Both the orange and mango Mimosas are tasty. I had the ham and cheese Scramble with mushrooms, onions, peppers and avocado added (seriously, it was half an avocado that was perfectly ripe). Crispy potatoes and an extraordinary biscuit... seriously, that biscuit was ginormous and fluffy and just delicious... so good! They also have homemade zucchini bread which is like a mini loaf and YUMMMM!!!! I seriously loved this place, everything was awesome! Good, very casual spot for breakfast. You can tell it's been there awhile. No frills but nice wait staff. Pretty small spot so might be a wait. Cute little patio as well. I got the paleo waffle meal. The waffle was awesome. So good especially for it being paleo. It came with what seemed to be homemade butter. They also had sugar free syrup and it was good. It came with two eggs that I got over medium and a sausage link. The link is better than the sausage patty. My toddler got a pancake with bacon and eggs off the kids meal. He loved the eggs and it came with an apple juice too. We ordered a side of the zucchini bread to try it and it was very moist and delicious. My toddler ate the whole loaf. Lol! It's also pretty inexpensive. I would say around $10 for a meal and it's large portions. The coffee could have been better but it was fine. I ordered the blueberry short stack. We had to wait for them because waitress said cook forgot the blueberries. When they came I thought it was one pancake instead of a short stack - flattest pancakes ever. Also came with a blob of what I think is margarine. I did not get syrup until about 10 min later after finally getting the waitresses attention so I could request some. My husband had the Corned beef Irish scramble. It was good (so a couple stars granted) but luke warm. The zucchini bread tasted like it was from a box mix. Will keep going to other restaurants we prefer over this place. read more

Pretty good breakfast place. It's extremely crowded after church on Sundays so plan on a wait. While they typically serve breakfast and lunch, it is breakfast only on Sundays. Coffee has changed from Cravens to Union and it's horrible! Go back to Cravens or better yet try Tubbs Coffee it's local and fits the area! Pancakes are good but they think they are gold nuggets! They used to have punch card after 10 get free meal now it too has changed to buy 10 meals get $5 off a meal! What a shame and slap in the face to your local customers! It's not like you haven't raised your prices! I wanted to substitute breakfast potatoes for the small pancake and they refused only for toast! However, you can substitute potatoes for a fruit and yogurt bowl which I'm sure costs them considerably more than a small pancake! Not my favorite breakfast place anymore! Sad read more

We were up early and with a lot of miles to burn before our next stop, Hubby and I needed fuel for the road. Michael D's Eatery was up for that challenge. This seems to be a popular place with local residents since there was a lot of back and forth between tables. It is only open for breakfast and lunch and was crowded when we got there and still busy when we were ready to leave. But service was efficient and Amy W., our server, was friendly and helpful. Our order was taken quickly and the food arrived soon after, hot and delicious. I got an Irish Scrambler, Corned beef, green onion, scrambled eggs, potatoes & Swiss cheese with a dollop of sour cream. It is a really big helping and a very yummy combination of flavors. Hubby ordered Custard-Style Sour Dough French Toast which is two pieces of sour dough with honey spread, syrup and cinnamon sugar. It was a lot of food for our money and tends to demonstrate why they have so many customers. They have a large menu with lots of choices, service is good and the food is tasty. The decor is a little dated but the customer service and food are top notch. My son had the blueberry pancakes made with fresh blueberries. They're huge! He also got a cinnamon roll that was freshly drizzled with frosting. Both were delicious. I had veggies, eggs, and corned beef with tomatoes instead of potatoes. Everything was cooked perfectly.
