This is an old school restaurant that deserves 5 stars. Nothing fancy here just great home cooking! We had a group of seven and everyone was more than pleased with their meal. This restaurant is very old and outdated. Its very noisy and crowded and the tables are positioned too close together, it feels like you're sharing a table with strangers. The food is "Meh" and the menu leaves a lot to be desired and is very limited to breakfast and only a couple of boring lunch items. You wouldn't be able to visit this place regularly or you would quickly tire of the same old food at each visit. read more

Michael D's, Michael D's, and.....Michael D's, Wow! I am a breakfast fan, no really, a huge breakfast fan! I wanted to be sure I had ate at MD's a few times before I wrote the review. Now, I find it hard to eat at other breakfast places. First off, the place is super easy to find, great parking, and the interior is comfortable and roomy. The staff is super friendly, and very attentive. Last time I was there I saw the fellow who's picture is illustrated on the coffee mug, and I am guessing by the matching mustache and glasses, it was Michael D. If not, man it was a close match. On to the FOOD! The cowboy potatoes are royal, every time I have had them they are cooked perfect, and consistency is dead on! I have had a scramble, and multiple omelettes, and every single one was cooked perfect. Fresh ingredients are definitely key at this place. Coffee is great, ohh and my wife raves about the zucchini bread. The only small side note is they don't have hash browns. Only reason I mention this is because my younger kids won't eat the country potatoes (weirdos), they want hash browns. Ohh well, thats the kids problem! In my opinion, Michael D's is probably the best breakfast joint in Coeur d'Alene area. I will admit I have a few more to try, but its gonna be hard to beat them out. read more

Wife's coworker recommended Michael D's. Tuesday at 10:30. Couldn't hear myself think. Wife's coffee came with a complementary hair. Silverware was kinda clean. My poached eggs, corned beef and potatoes were disappointing. Corned beef was delicious. Eggs (their soft and my soft are different) , the potatoes were disappointing, very disappointing. So we decided to give a new breakfast place a try. Well, new to us anyways. I tend to always try a chicken fried steak and eggs as my go to. And oh was I in for a treat. It was cooked perfect and the sausage gravy is just how I like it. My wife got the waffle and it did not disappoint. We loved the friendly service and the inviting atmosphere. I haven't been to Michaels D's for years because I thought it was too hippy, but today we stopped in, and even through it was packed, we were seated quickly and our orders were taken promptly. While we waited we had Deluxe Blood Mary's, that were absolutely delicious!! But, by far, the Eggs Benedict were the Star of the day and worth the wait (which wasn't too long given that it was a packed Fathers Day morning). The Hollandaise was perfection. The thin shaved ham was so good and everything else was absolutely on point! I loved every bite of this meal and will be back again soon! My friend had the chicken fried steak, which was crunchy on the outside and perfect on the inside. The gravy was delicious! Yum, yum!!! read more

Brian's Breakfast, an off menu item (crisp home fries covered with an Italian bean-less chili covered with cheese of choice) is very good. I was in a pancake mood, however, and they have blueberry... the good ones with the berries in the batter instead of the lazy version... you know, pie filling dumped on top. These cakes proved to be a big disappointment. They were very thin, almost crepe like, with an unpleasant, almost raw texture. I couldn't finish them. My wife's Paleo Waffle was surprisingly good. It is a gluten free offering made with rice and almond flour. I wish I had ordered it. Our breakfasts here have always been good, so I am leaving a positive rating. Eat here again?...yep. I will stay away from their pancake/crepe things though. read more

Exactly what we were looking for when wanting a local establishment to enjoy breakfast at. They just built a new outside deck and we enjoyed sitting out there amongst the pots of flowers. I have to say, we normally go to Jimmy's Down The Street but he had kitchen renovations so we decided to try Michael D's. What a disappointment! Service was okay but that was the only thing that we were happy with. The acoustics in the restaurant are pretty bad. My husband and I could barely hear each other. Our food was disappointing as well. I really enjoy hash browns and they don't even serve them. I thought that was odd. Then there was the gravy.... Who puts sugar in gravy??? It was inedible. Came for brunch one weekend. The Aspiring Omelette was decent but the mimosa was not worth the ~$8, the coffee mug was dirty and had food floating in it, and the coffee was flavorless. The sourdough bread was yummy, aside from the GLOBS of butter on it. In addition, upon arriving I asked the hostess if they allowed dogs outside and she told me they did. My friend and I proceed to bring our very well behaved dogs (who literally just laid under the table the entire time). The waitress then comes up to us telling us they actually don't allow dogs. Very distasteful both in behavior and food. Will not recommend or return. read more

Wow, this place is unexpectedly amazing! Went here for brunch with a group of friends and we all had a great time with wonderful food. Their Mimosas have actual fruit in them, they are quite yummy. The breakfast portions are freaking HUGE!!! OMG! I thought I was going to die, I could not stop eating, it was so delicious! Both the orange and mango Mimosas are tasty. I had the ham and cheese Scramble with mushrooms, onions, peppers and avocado added (seriously, it was half an avocado that was perfectly ripe). Crispy potatoes and an extraordinary biscuit... seriously, that biscuit was ginormous and fluffy and just delicious... so good! They also have homemade zucchini bread which is like a mini loaf and YUMMMM!!!! I seriously loved this place, everything was awesome! Good, very casual spot for breakfast. You can tell it's been there awhile. No frills but nice wait staff. Pretty small spot so might be a wait. Cute little patio as well. I got the paleo waffle meal. The waffle was awesome. So good especially for it being paleo. It came with what seemed to be homemade butter. They also had sugar free syrup and it was good. It came with two eggs that I got over medium and a sausage link. The link is better than the sausage patty. My toddler got a pancake with bacon and eggs off the kids meal. He loved the eggs and it came with an apple juice too. We ordered a side of the zucchini bread to try it and it was very moist and delicious. My toddler ate the whole loaf. Lol! It's also pretty inexpensive. I would say around $10 for a meal and it's large portions. The coffee could have been better but it was fine. I ordered the blueberry short stack. We had to wait for them because waitress said cook forgot the blueberries. When they came I thought it was one pancake instead of a short stack - flattest pancakes ever. Also came with a blob of what I think is margarine. I did not get syrup until about 10 min later after finally getting the waitresses attention so I could request some. My husband had the Corned beef Irish scramble. It was good (so a couple stars granted) but luke warm. The zucchini bread tasted like it was from a box mix. Will keep going to other restaurants we prefer over this place. read more
