This place is a gem. Local owned and family owned. The wait was only 15 minutes and that tells me quality food is inside since people don't cause a wait list for average food. Our waitress was the coolest person. Super nice, friendly, a total pro. She had tons of knowledge about how they make their food. The style is like warm, cozy, and not in your face obnoxious. The food was so good and delicious. Everything was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. We had to take leftovers home. It was so good. Our go-to brunch spot! Love the Aebleskivers (both the savory, meat ones, and the blueberry ones!). The fresh squeezed orange juice is sublime and the French press coffee is wonderful. They make everything from scratch and even sell whole loaves of sourdough bread. There's plenty of room -- we've never had to wait long for a seat. Service is attentive without being overbearing. We were going to Spokane so I did a search for a breakfast place and this one popped up. We were greeted by the manager of the day and he was very nice and friendly. Our server was Diaca and we told her that we were from California, and this was the first time eating at this place. There was just so much to choose from. It was so hard. I had the dark French pressed coffee, and my husband had a regular medium coffee. Both were very good. I had the Loganberry crêpes, they were really full of cream. I had a side of fruit which I did not need. We got some samples of sausage Apple Skivers from the management, so tasty. My husband had an omelette and a choice of cinnamon roll. Needless to say we took it to go. Wish this place was in California. Everyone was just so friendly and it's a nice place. Very comfortable booths and not too noisy. I ordered a 3 egg ham and cheese omelet for $15.75. The omelet was dry and the ham shaved. It had very little flavor. The sourdough bread/toast they boast about, had little flavor. For the price they charged, it should have been larger and contained another meat some veggies. Fruit rather than hash browns was not an option. The carafe of coffee at $4.75, was just ok. My husband ordered the original eggs Benedict, the hollandaise was good he said. There was no toast and the hash browns were under cooked and not browned. My boyfriend ordered the European breakfast with sausage patties, hashbrowns, and sourdough toast. We also ordered the combo of aebleskivers, so we could try all three. Excellent: rye toast, the house made hot sauce, the raspberry jam, and the aebkeskivers, especially the sausage and cheese one. First time at the Post Falls location. Was greeted at the entrance and seated quickly. Server was friendly and answered our food questions but told us she would take drink orders then come back for food order. My two kids were hungry and a bit disappointed they couldn't get the order started. She came back with two carafes of water and a pitcher of warm coffee. I wasn't planning on more than a cup so didn't bother to ask for hot coffee My daughter did not like the crepes and only ate a few bites but ate her bacon and grabbed a piece of my sons French toast. My son powered through the eggs, bacon and French toast. I didn't order was going to a lunch meet up later. My daughter accidentally spilled half a water carafe. Couldn't find anyone to help so a grabbed some paper towels from the reception stand and cleaned up the spill. When server returned with food we apologized for the mishap but she ignored taking the wet mess off the table. She came back at the end of our meal and when I told her my daughter did not like the crepes she asked her if she wanted something else but we declined. She then gave us the bill and said to have a nice day So we paid for the unwanted meal and I only tipped her on what we ate. Our server was very mediocre, only check on us once & was slow to get back to us with drinks & our receipt. She was always kind when at the table, which was refreshing. The hash browns tasted like they had been frost bitten, thawed & cooked. We also decided to get a pancake with whip cream & strawberries. The pancake was average flavor, but the soggy strawberries were gross! When you're paying almost 4 extra dollars for strawberries & whip cream, I would expect fresh. We heard amazing things about this place. Family owned, everything made from scratch, sweet and savory, and all things delicious so we had to swing by before leaving Idaho. The staff are so nice and shared a little bit about the history of the restaurant. Our group ordered different meals but what stood out to me were the Aebelskivers. I always try to make a point to order something unique about any restaurant I go to. The Blueberry as well as the Havarti Cheese & Sausage stuffed Aebelskivers did not disappoint and for those of us who did not order them (and because it was our first time there), they came by with a plateful of Aebelskivers for them to try anyway. We could not have been much more disappointed compared to our previous visit to this location. We came in on a damp, cold, rainy Sunday morning. We got on the list immediately. Wait for it ... and as more and more people came in, they were getting seated but we weren't. I asked the hostess where we were on that list because more recent additions were getting seated and we hadn't? "Oh, there you are, I've already called you twice and you never answered." ... Ummm, no, we were less than six feet away and you never called us at all. So, it was a good thing I asked. She summoned the person in the apron to "bus that table" and seated us immediately (at one of those tiny two-top mini-table things) RIGHT NEXT TO THE FRONT DOOR (so our food didn't stand a chance of staying hot long enough to enjoy.) As for the food itself, my omelette was as flat and unappealing as a rubber table mat and the sparse fillings were concentrated at one end of the food. And the house feature item ... the aebelskivers? When they came out, the server laid the plate down and dashed. We kept trying to get someone's attention to bring her back so we might get some gravy to have with them? All I can figure is that we must have been as invisible to them as to the hostess. No chance for gravy, eh? This was the most aggravating (BUT EXPENSIVE) breakfast mistake we've had in a long time. I know this much... next time, if the occasion arises... Denny's is right next door and we can get treated as minimally as we were for a whole lot less of my hard-earned money. From the moment we walked in until we were finished, we were constantly checked on and the food was delivered fairly quickly. I had the German Potato Pancakes. Light and fluffy, with bits of sausage in the batter. They were served with applesauce which is the perfect condiment. My dad had Veggie Browns and Cheese. The veggies were fresh and paired well with the potatoes. I also ordered the Original Aebelskivers that come with a Blackberry Syrup and Applesauce. Because it was Dad's first time there, the waitress brought over a small dish of 3 Stuffed (Savory sausage and Havarti cheese). Both types of Aebelskivers were warm and tasty. We really love the breakfast and cinnamon rolls at Old European! We stopped in a few weeks ago and ordered 2 cinnamon rolls to go. They were not what we expected. The rolls were dry, especially around the edges. We couldn't even eat them because they were so dry. We went back and nicely explained the situation to one of their employees. She was extremely rude, and said that I would have to talk to her manager. The manager was the rudest person I have ever encountered at a restaurant. She said that she could replace them, but that was it!!! I told her that would be fine. That's all that we wanted. She came back with a box and said that she talked to the CEO, and I should have came back sooner!!! We rarely drive to Post Falls. The situation was so embarrassing. The pancakes, both types were so tender and fluffy, and the bacon was exceptional in flavor. The crepes were extra flavorful with orange juice in the batter. The only disappointment in the meal was the fresh fruit cup. It was apples, grapes, and cantaloupe, which flavors had melded together ....standard buffet fair for a high price.
