They charged $175.00 for diagnostic on TPMS sensor light. They cleared/reset and the light went out and send me off. On the way back to Reno it went on again. Came back the next day and they said they found two sensors that were going out and recommended replacing all four sensors due to the age of the car. Thinking they could have suggested that without the diagnostic for $175.00. I ended up replacing since don't have much time to be going back and forth with work. In summary, paid way too much for the sensor with the unnecessary diagnosis on top of paying more for the sensor replacement at a dealership. Should have taken to Tire Plus or other tire shop but expensive lesson learned. Not taking my car there or buying a new one there anymore... read more

I feel the people in here treat you like a person no matter who you are. I contacted them online about a vehicle I was interested in and they were very prompt in getting back to me. I went in and test drove the car that day and fell in love with it. Despite some personal issues on my side and a couple days of back and forth texting, they were able to work out a deal that gave me a good price and fit my budget. Everybody I talked to was respectful and nice. The only real issue I have is they said they were detailing the car when I was signing paperwork and I even had to wait for the car to get finished detailing. I drove it home and looking at it and noticed that either they didn't detail it at all or they didn't do a very good job. There was still sticker residue on the gas lid from where they put a sticker for shipping and there were a couple other spots where it was just pretty obvious they didn't detail it. I don't know why they had to lie about it being detailed or why I had to wait for it to be finished being detailed when it wasn't. Pretty upset about that, but otherwise I'm satisfied with my experience with Michael Hohl Honda. read more

If they could negotiate like gentlemen and women, the customer may actually leave happy about the fact they purchased a vehicle. Rodney was the fantastic salesperson who showed us a beautiful pre-owned Honda CR-V and took us on a great test drive up HWY 50 toward Lake Tahoe. We literally fell in love with the car and were excited to get back and get the purchase done, but we didn't tell him that. When we sat down at the desk I told Rodney to please come out with your best foot forward. Unfortunately we lost Rodney and got Derek, "the closer", who came out at full sticker, insisting that I put a counter offer down on the paper. After about 20+ minutes back and forth, I decided to play along and countered with a price that was about $12k less than the ask. Derek wasn't happy, but I succeeded in bringing the sales manager out of the cage to finish the fight. I made him run through every car sales tactic in the book, and he was a good liar under pressure, maintaining composure all the way until the end. Unfortunately, being in a smaller market with time against us, I wasn't able to use my typical counter tactics to fight the good fight (Friends have followed my lead and done very well. if you want to know more about this, just send me a PM). They sold me a car that had two bad front axles, power steering leaks, oil leaks and other problems, the service advisor and manager were both indifferent and had me take the car until they could figure out the coverage was from the warranty they sold me, i took it in after 2 weeks and a couple hundred miles. They never even changed the oil before I bought it, they were supposed to order parts and call me. No Call? No parts ordered, they completely dropped the ball, they also had the ball's to ask for 165.00 for diagnostics, the absolute worst service department I have ever experienced. Totally unprofessional. I bought a used truck from these guys, waited 4 hours when picking it up for them to do an oil change and detail... 3 months later the check engine light turns on while in the middle of a road trip. Take the truck over to Oriellys for a quick diagnostic to get a code and see what the issue is. The code we got was a timing belt code, in which it was suggested I do not continue to drive the truck until a full diagnostic is performed. I get the truck over to Fairfield Chevrolet where they were able to do a full diagnostic a just a few hours. The mechanic called me to tell me, verbatim "now I can't predict what work was actually done before they sold you this truck but what I can say is it looks like whoever did your 'oil change' just added oil and didn't change it or the filter because it is absurdly dirty and I can't imagine new oil would ever be this dirty this quickly". After reaching out to the Michael Hohl dealership to ask what was going on and if they would cover the cost of the oil change and inconvenience they provided I started to get passed on from employee to employee having to reexplain to each person the scenario. The first 3 people I spoke to "sympathized", the 4th guy said "so sue me". Guys lucky I didn't get his name or I would add it to this review. I'm at wits end with these people and after reading reviews here and on the better business bureau site it has become apparent to me that this dealership is full of incompetence. I immediately told him that I was from out of state and that I was definitely not going to purchase a car there. He was extremely nice to us and told us about the car and answered a couple of questions that we had. We were greeted by a young salesperson named Collin, he was extremely knowledgeable about each vehicle we drove, from engine info to amenities. My wife was looking at the CRVs and Accords, we test drove both of them. I wanted to trade in my Odyssey for a Pilot. We looked at the 2019s but we got a wonderful deal on a 2018 Elite with 120 miles and the exact color I wanted. My wife decided on a 2018 Accord Touring. We again had the pleasure to work with the manager Autumn who once again gave us a great deal on both vehicles. Since the Hohl sales force is not on commission the whole experience for us was a relaxed atmosphere to say the least. We really cannot say enough about our salesperson Collin, after all the paperwork was signed Collin walked us smoothly through the setup process of both new cars. I'm not super tech savvy but Collin was polite and respectful when he needed to explain a section a second time to me. Price was a bit too high but he was more than willing to do business with us. He took of a good amount off from us, he even gave us some things for the car. Free tinting and services. After our car was bought we had to wait for detailing which took 30 minutes but we were surprised when they gave us a $50.00 gift card for our lunch while waiting for detailing. I think the person who helped me was Jeff, and he really saved my ass. The A/C stopped working in my car and the local places in Tahoe didn't have the right equipment to check the issue. Turns out I needed a new compressor, which they quoted around $2k since my car was out of warranty. But since it only had around 26k miles on it, Jeff went out of his way and figured out how to get Honda to cover a large portion of it. Car was fixed promptly the next day when he said it would and the A/C works great. Truly appreciate the help and service. read more

So I've waited a few months to make a review. First things first, I love my new Honda Ridgeline. Really great truck. I've never purchased a brand new car before, so I was very cautious going into it. I had done my research and pretty much knew what I wanted. The people on the lot were nice, but it struck me as odd that most of the people working there had only been there for a few months. Anyways I bought a new 2023 Ridgeline. Did I mention that its a great vehicle. I felt like the people at the dealership were nice, but never really explained anything in detail, especially when it came to the add-ons they piled onto the final cost of my vehicle. Things like an extended warranty and theft recovery device were added on without me knowing, or it being explained at all. They just said it was "included", but didn't explain it was at an added price. They just wizzed by it and said sign here sir. Second reason I marked them down was because any time I call them, they really don't know anything about the financing side of the business. Usually its, I don't know, that's corporate. Final bit was that they sent me home with only one key because they accidentally gave my other key to someone else. It took them three weeks or so to get it back, and when I asked them to mail it to me in Reno, they did ... but Cash on delivery. Now it's not much money, but after you spend nearly $50k on a car, you would expect them to pay the $3.50 for postage on the keys that they lost; and I have to go to the post office to get it. I do think they are a nice crew over there, but just read all the paperwork when you buy; be thorough because they're not going to go out of their way to explain it to you. Good luck. read more

Bought a new CR-V last week from this dealer and had a pretty easy experience. Jackie the internet manger was nice and courteous and gave me in the info needed to come in for a test drive. We met with Vinny and I was pretty impressed with him. I have bought 3 cars in the last 5 years and I have never met a sales person who actually knew about the car they were selling. He went over the car and highlighted all the cool features went for a test drive with us and didnt talk to much. My wife and I decided then that car was for us. I had spent the last few weeks researching price and gave them my offer 5 mins later the sales manager came back and said we cant do that bit how about this which was about 1500 more then my offer. we met in the middle and got it done whole thing took about 2 hours. So got a 17 CR-V EX AWD for 30K OTD. Good enough for me. Should I need another car I would probably start here. read more

A simple gasket replacement on an oil sensor turned into a surprize bill of $250.00. They claimed the cost included clean up of the oil that had leaked from the sensor. If they did the clean up the oil that leaked I would have understood the labor charge. After I parked the vehicle in my garage for an hour I noticed oil dripping on the floor and after looking under the car they cleaned nothing but charged labor for something they did not do. When confronting the service dept later that day they offered to power wash the oil that had leaked, otherwise they had very little to say. No apology no bill adjustment just a puzzled dog look. Their service department was happy to accept $500 of mine for front break pad replacement, transmission service, and having my air conditioning "cleaned"; but when it came time to have the factory recall seatbelt replaced all I was only given excuses. They said I would get a phone call when the part they were ordering (a seatbelt) came in, I never received phone call. Two months later they said it had been too long and they no longer had the part. Also, they did not clean the vents in my car like they said they were going to. They simply sprayed them with a deodorant, and my ac/heat stunk again after a week. When I expressed my dissatisfaction with them to whoever I spoke with acted as if I was inconveniencing his day, even though all three times I have left there I have left upset and aggravated knowing that people are ok with treating their customers this way, and still do a fair amount of business.. read more

Purchased a black 2020 Honda Civic Sport in May 2020 from Collin, and had a wonderful experience. He was knowledgeable, helpful, and very kind to my daughter. Seeing as the sales and finance staff was stellar and personable, we had decided to purchase the service agreement as well. That was a mistake. First oil change: I was charged $80 for the service despite the service contract indicating oil changes would be performed at no cost. Not a big deal. We got the issue rectified and went on our way. Second oil change: we received the Civic back with a deep dent and scratch clear through the paint on the hood. We brought it to the tech's attention, and he advised the repair would be finished by the end of the week. At this time, we had noticed the air conditioner wasn't as cold as it should be, and asked if they could take a look while the car was in their possession. Tech advised us it would not be a problem and the car would be finished by the end of the week. Our vehicle wasn't returned for over 2 weeks. On the drive home from the dealership I noticed the skid plate under the car had not been reattached and was scraping the wheel of the car. I called the service department, and left a message asking for a call back to set up an appointment to have the skid plate reattached. I didn't receive a call back. After calling once a week for 6 months leaving voicemails and messages with various people in the service department and still receiving no calls back, I scheduled an oil change online and figured I would ask about the skid plate when I was there. When I asked about the skid plate, the service manager informed me the skid plate would not be repaired at their cost as the incident happened six months prior. Apparently trying to contact the service department on 26 separate occasions wasn't sufficient. Ended up selling the car back to the dealership that day, and worked with Marcus who was very helpful and a pleasure to work with. Just go to Reno and buy a Honda at Bill Pearce. ****IF YOU LOOK AT A BLACK 2020 HONDA CIVIC SPORT, LOOK UNDER THE CAR TO BE SURE THE SKID PLATE IS ATTACHED.**** And also check the AC because the condenser went out and god knows they won't fix it. read more

I scheduled a test drive for today, and left after 45 minutes WITHOUT being able to test drive a pre-owned car unless I bought it that day. I went in with a specific car to look at, and my sales associate, Luis, would not show me the car until I gave him my social security number, after I told him my price point and that I was not going to buy a car that day. He then made me wait for over 25 minutes in order to be told the car that was on the website did not exist, but the same car with more mileage and a $2000 higher price point was available and that they would decrease if I bought the car today. I was then sent home, without a test drive, with financing options for me "give to my husband." Apparently, as a woman, I was unable to handle a simple test drive and possible purchase. I went to this dealer because my family has been buying Subaru's from them since the early 90's. A '92 Loyale Wagon, a 99 Legacy Wagon, and a 2004 Forester -- that's some customer dedication. When it was time for me to buy my car, I went where my family has always gone: Michael Hohl. The service was as good as you'd expect from a car dealer. It took nearly 6 hours to get my 2005 Subaru WRX, which involved some negotiation but I think I paid a fair price. But then came the up-sell, and I got an "extended warranty." The way these things work is, after the standard 3yr/36,000 Subaru warranty, you can use the extended warranty for another 3yr/36,000 and pay a deductible of $40. The warranty was $800, and if you don't use it, you can cash it out. The catch is, and this is why Michael Hohl gets one star, that if you screw up the paper work in anyway, they won't give you the $800. I sold the WRX (as much as I loved it I could no longer afford the gas) but didn't cash it in within the 30 day window that's in the fine print. I sent a certified letter saying I had sold the car and wanted the warranty money back. Did Michael Hohl respond? No. If you are going to buy from Michael Hohl, don't expect service after the sale. This is another dirt bag dealer that long ago was worth recommending to your own family, but now I wouldn't even recommend them to a dead beat ex-wife. read more

This dealership is the WORST for customer service after the sale. No return phone calls, no customer care. Not even from their corporate office. After the deal is done, and you are on your own. You may do a service and the next time you bring the car in they tell you that you need it again, even though its a 30k or 60k etc service and they try to sell you the service every 3-5k miles. We purchased our vehicle from Michael Hohl Honda and have been disrespected and treated like trash since. Stay far away from here, highly advise to go elsewhere to purchase or service a honda. I was hung up on during a service call due to the service member not being able to up sell me on services. I was told that even after many tire rotations that the tires on the front were better than those in the back, when I took to another service specialist at a different location I was told otherwise.
