Paint is dissolving off my 4 yr old Honda Fit and Service Department couldn't care less. Their service manager, Roger Fong, has some of the worst customer service skills I have had to displeasure of experiencing. Two months since I have approached them about the problem and all I'm told to do is sit and wait...while my paint continues to dissolve. Additionally, their customer service rep tried to help, but ultimately told me she was powerless in getting anything done. Will not be returning for service, much less to ever purchase a car, from this group. read more

After a lack of information and pushy demeanor from Andrea Reyes (Internet Sales Manager), I've decided to opt out of even going into Michael Hohl Honda to test drive a vehicle. With a credit score of 803, I decided to take my business to a competing dealership. However, during negotiations for purchase & the 3rd SALESMAN, GENRAL MANAGER Brian Kelloher came in, he was nothing but a Pompous Ass. He had a very bad attitude & wasn't courteous nor helpful. So we took our business to Toyota & bought a RAV4 with cash. I understand that you do not profit as much with a cash payer vs financing, but that doesn't warrant bad customer service. I will never do business with a Michael Hohl dealership again. I bought a car from them about a year ago and it was the worst car buying experience I have ever had. They spent the majority of the time selling me on the fact that they don't hire sales people or pay commissions. Every other sentence out of their mouths was about how great this was for me. When the vehicle I went to test drive was acting strange, the extremely arrogant manager came out and gunned it around the parking lot a few times to prove that I was wrong about what I experienced while driving it. I have it another try and got out on the road to realize the steering felt off and the blinkers didn't even work. I was done with that car at that point. I should have left but they talked me into looking at another car and the "non-salesperson" gushed about all the features and how amazing it was. I wound up buying it. Then the finance person had a different total price that was different than the "out the door" price I had been quoted more than once. When I signed the papers the finance person rushed through everything very quickly without explaining anything more than "sign here...sign here" and acted like I was imposing on his time. All of this was enough for me to vow never to set foot on their lot again, but the kicker came about a week ago when I decided to trade the car in to my favorite dealer. Turns out the car had been in an accident and had frame damage. This was not something that was ever disclosed by Michael Hohl. Either they knew and withheld the info or didn't inspect it close enough when they brought it in to know. Great experience here! Went in today and within a minute of looking at the 2015 Odyssey we had seen online, we were greeted by Jose. He was informative, easy to talk to, and gave us helpful info. The greediest dealer that I ever dealt with.I bought a Ridgeline 2010 new. They gave me a 0.9 % loan offered by Honda, but they conditioned me to pay a $2000 "coverage" for dents, paint "protection" and they said if in 8 years I do not use that "protection", they will return me the $2000 ( you may calculate also the 8 year interest for the $2000). I just found out that "the protection company" does not exist anymore, now in 2018 ! Now I will do some investigation to find out the ...responsibles for returning me the money.... I bought a car for my daughter in July 2022. Experience was easy and pretty simple. Where this dealership really shines is the service department. In October the electronic gas gage was going in and out. By January it would not work until the car was warmed up for 20+ minutes. I called Michael Hohl Honda expecting a 2-3 month wait. They got me in the next week. I showed up at the dealership and was greeted immediately. I was shown to the waiting room until my service advisor was ready for me. I explained what was happening and Ashely my service advisor immediately said it is probably the dash cluster that needs to be replaced. By noon that same day she called to say it was the dash cluster that needed to be replaced, it was covered under warranty and already ordered. She even apologized that the car would not be fixed that same day. The following day I was called and told the part arrived and car would be ready for pick up by 5pm. When we picked up the car at 5pm the repairs were discussed and we were walked out to our vehicle. Hands down the best service I have received from a dealership. Highly recommend. read more

Car did not have floor mats (they could not be located, $100 cost to replace) and the second key was not programmed ($125 cost to do)..which I was told that they are lucky the car comes with a second key and I will need to pay for it myself. The tires were worn different and needed to be replaced ($1100) the battery needed to be replaced ($200). The transmission had a leak. The front sides of where the windshield is were placed back on when the windshield was replaced even though they are a one time use and they are broken and will eventually fly off ($700). I purchased a $30,000 car that I have had to put a lot of money into just after purchase back thanks to Michael Hohl Honda not taking care of the car's issues before selling. read more

I had an excellent experience today at Michael Hohl Honda. I was in need of a car after an accident left mine totaled. I looked at some reviews and some available vehicles online and decided to drive over and try out Michael Hohl Honda. I was met first by a friendly lady behind the counter (regrettably didn't see her nametag or I'd mention her here specifically as well) and then was introduced to the salesman Ben Smith. Ben was friendly and informative and not at all pushy, which is excellent as I'll instantly leave anywhere with pushy salespeople. Ben immediately led me to the car I'd found online, showed me all its features, answered my questions, and let me take it on a significant test drive in which he provided useful information and pleasant conversation. Once we got back, he informed me of other similar cars with varying ranges of the features/prices I was looking for, but was satisfied when I mentioned the one I tested was what I was looking for. From there, he led me quickly and easily through the otherwise often arduous and long winded process of discussing payments, down payments, payment plans, and getting the credit check done. Once that was completed, he led me to Alfonso Seoane, another very friendly and informative individual that explained everything on the final papers I needed to sign and answered any last minute questions I had while Ben had the car detailed. Honestly this has to be the best car buying experience I've ever had and it made a step in my recovery from my recent accident that I was initially somewhat dreading into a surprisingly fast and pleasant experience. I'd highly recommend them to anyone needing a good car that wants to get what they need without all the unnecessary runaround you often get at other places. read more

Horrible experience here at this Honda dealership. I drove from California to purchase a used vehicle they promised me was like brand new in amazing condition. I arrived to find the car with a broken tail light, animal stench odor and dog hair embedded seats, a smashed in rear bumper and an engine that ticked. Not one apology or even attempt to fix the problems on the vehicle. And when I requested my deposit back I got the cold shoulder from the whole dealership as they avoided even eye contact in the lobby. Do not trust a word these people say here. Lies upon lies and they blame eachother for miscommunication. They lost out big as I drove back to California and immediately purchased a brand new vehicle with a dealership that valued my time and business. Again, think twice before you shop here. He was great and had an excellent sense of humor. told me it would take about 45 min, but it only took about 25 to 30 min to get it done. About 1 year later and I still give this place 1 star (again, because 0 stars is not an option.) After my terrible experience with their service department -- the only follow up was to attempt to get me to remove the bad Yelp review. Their offer (bribe) was a "free detail of my car" if I would remove the review. Instead, I asked for a phone call and apology from the service manager or owner -- and said I would consider removing the review if either one of them could have a normal, civil conversation with me. (Heck, this doesn't cost them anything.) No phone call EVER. This should tell you something about this business. read more

Update from my previous post on 8/19/21-When I spoke with this dealership on 8/20, they said that the check for my rebate on the extended warranty would be sent in 1-2 weeks. Even though they assured me in July when I finally got them to process this request (from April when this process first started) that they would back date the request to my original contact date in April, on 8/20, I was told that the rebate would only be from July. On 8/20, the store manager indicated that the refund from the warranty company was received by the dealership sometime over the summer, but apparently it has been sitting in the dealership's back account, not mine. While I am sure the amount isn't big enough to have earned much interest, it still has benefitted the dealership by being in their account. Also, if I had not called when I did on 8/20, they may have never cut the check. As of today, September 8, 2021, I have still not received my money. I called the dealership again. The person I spoke with 3 weeks ago was not in so I spoke with someone else who said she would check with the warranty manager and call me back with the check number and the date it was sent. To say this is unacceptable is an understatement. As I said in my last review, I have started looking into legal action. read more

I have purchased 3 cars from here over the past 10 years and I have had my 3 Hondas serviced here for just as long. I did not have a problem with this dealership until my last purchase in Oct. 2016. They are proud to tell you they cannot "ask you to buy a car" but once established that you would like to buy a car, the rest of the circus carney sales tactics are the same and even worse than in the past. The purchasing "game" has not gone away, the salesperson goes back and forth to the manager to ask if the price you want is ok (which it never is) so there is much bantering until you get to a price where the salesperson tells you they aren't making any money on the deal - blah, blah, blah. Same old stuff - so if they tell you any different about the experience you'll get here, it simply isn't true. The wolf is still here but their twist is they are not hiding it in sheep's clothing, it's now hidden in another costume but it's a wolf just the same. Here's where even more fun begins: when I went to sign the papers on my brand new car, I was told my boyfriend could not go into the "signing room" with me as he was not on the contract. I thought that was odd. As I begin signing papers, I sense the 2nd round of sales attempts coming at me which I'm sure is why my boyfriend was not allowed in the room. This guy pulls out paper and draws all kinds of numbers and stuff down, talking real fast about programs to insure my car beyond the 3 year warranty. He's quick and slick and tells me if I don't pay an ADDITIONAL monthly car maintenance plan, stuff on my brand new Honda, not covered under my standard warranty, can start breaking down like a cube of sugar in a glass of water. Especially the electrical! He went on to tell the horrors of all the electrical in my car just wiping out and leaving me with major repair bills. I'm thinking to myself "You've got to be kidding me!" I just bought a brand new Honda, which the salespeople spend a lot of time telling you how amazing Hondas are and they run forever with almost no problems and that's why everyone loves Hondas! Now I got this creepy guy telling me if I don't tack on another $200 a month or more, my Honda could fall apart and it won't be covered? If I do this, I will spend $2,400 A YEAR in addition to my car payment, to keep my new Honda from falling apart. Are you serious? I told him NO to every plan he offered. I have an 11 year old Honda which has had zero problems in this regard and if it had, I would just spend the money to get it fixed, since I'm sure it would be less than the $7,200 I would have spent on a 3 year plan. Criminal. So, on to getting my new car. It was not at the dealership yet, still on the truck to be delivered in the next couple days. When it came, I drove after work to pick it up. I was very excited to get my car. When the salesman handed me my key, he said "Oh, by the way there is some pink paint on the bumper we couldn't get out. You can bring it back to detail at your convenience and they'll clean it for you." I look at my new car and there is this pink stain impregnated into the front bumper. My heart sinks and all my excitement goes out the window. What the hell? I'm being told this now at the delivery of my car? The salesman starts to explain all the features of my car and I can't even focus on him because I'm so bummed and irritated. You should NEVER feel bummed when you pick up your new car! And they were acting like it was no big deal! I drove the car to dinner with my boyfriend and we decided to take it back and told them to keep it until it was fixed. The detail guys could not get the stain out so they were going to order me another car from a different dealership. I had to wait another few days and now my new car was going to have over a hundred miles on it driving from Sacramento. The second car has pink stains too! They offer to sand blast it out and repaint it which bums me out. They offer me a bare bones CRV which is more expensive but not the car I want. I opt to get the first car I bought sand blasted and repainted. I was told it would take 3 days max - they would rush it. I got my car 6 days later and I had to call to see if it was ready!! They gave me free car mats which I had to keep asking for. I had to call/return to this dealership 7 times to get the things they owed me like detailing my car. They never called or followed through on ANYTHING they said they would - I had to call or just show up to talk with someone to get any customer service. The sales manager promised I would love him and his company when I received a gift that was coming in the mail for all my trouble and he told me they totally screwed up and were so sorry! A month later I HAD TO CALL to ask about the gift that never came in the mail. It was a $50 Visa card with some free oil changes in the future. What a joke! I took my car for a scheduled service appointment at 2pm for warranty panel replacement I was called at 2:38 stating my car was done. Had the wife pick it up when I got home from work I took a look they didn't complete the job. Spoke with manager bob the next day (who is extremely arrogant) told him what happen and he stated bring it down again so I did and 10 min later they said it was done. While vacuuming my car this weekend found two screws and the manager stated to me, that he doesn't know where the screws came from when it was all plastic that snaps together. I told him there are pieces connected to it that are screwed in. He acts like he knows Honda cars. When in fact he is clueless about the car. I would question there mechanics certifications stay clear of this service department. I then ask to speak with Rick Barnes and another manager came out and said Rick would want me to handle it for him. Know we have other manager answering for the general manager terrible customer service then they had the audacity to ask for me to bring it back a third time. read more

I was super impressed by the warranty they gave me as well. The sales guys were great and we had some great talks about my work and other non-car related things. I purchased one car from Michael Hohl honda in Aug. 2011. Had a great experience & I loved the salesperson Monique. I went to purchase a second car for my daughter in Sept 2012. Sales person Sean Lyman. He tried to get me to pay above KBB as they had put a new engine in it. Because the car was a 2005 I purchased the extended warranty for $1450.00. Bumper to bumper coverage. 3 years/36000 miles A few months later Took the car to be serviced and was treated very well. A year later the check engine light comes on & I take the car in & give them my extended warranty info. Very surprised to find they won't cover it. The insurance company PR co. said it was normal wear. & year. But when I purchased said coverage it was "bumper to Bumper" no Exclusions I was told it would be $2300.00 not the 200.00 deductible I had been expecting. They would rot work with me & offered Not a single apology. It would seem to me that if you offer a service, you stand behind it... Not at Michael Hohl. I decided to come to Carson & get the car on Saturday, just to ensure they were open. I called first. ( I live in Reno). They assured us that the service dept. Was open until 6:00. When I arrived I discovered that the service dept closed at 5:00. And no one else could assist. If you look on there ad on yelp it says 7pm. Again no apology. We've purchased 3 cars from here over the last 2 years and have always been treated well. I especially like that the sales personnel are not paid on commission so they're not pushing the most expensive car on you, rather they are interested in listening to what you want. Yes they want a sale, but it feels like what the customer wants is a priority over what they want for you. Low key, no high pressure etc. Amanda, the sales manager, was very genuine in her help and showed sincere interest in making sure the transaction was handled well. Even after the purchase it was obvious that it was important to her that I was 100% satisfied. The service department is the same. Very helpful and dedicated to complete customer satisfaction. I bought an used 2001 Mazda Tribute from Michael Hohl Honda. Within a week of purchasing the car I noticed an oil leak, the battery wouldn't hold a charge, and the front end was out of alignment. Being as these items were noted on their vehicle inspection sheet I assumed they corrected these discrepancies. When I asked about correcting these issues they refused because they weren't "safety" related. They also never followed through on obtaining a rear cargo mat or head rests the vehicle was missing. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. When you buy, even a used vehicle, from a dealership you shouldn't have to do corrective maintenance within a week of purchase. read more

BAIT & SWITCH LIES waste of my time gas and money I will never buy from any of their dealerships. I want to start by saying I did email the dealership last week after my horrible experience to see if this was just a big mistake. The fact that they never responded tells me not only do they not care but this is how they do business. It all starter a week ago Thursday night. I called Michael Hohl's and asked about a new CR-V EX. They told me that they had 2 in stock of the color I was interested in. I needed to set an appointment and I would have the car waiting and would be working with the Sales manager. My appointment was for 9 am last Friday. I arrived at 8:45 and the car was not out front. The manager was not there. They then told me they didn't have either of the 2 cars they told me they had at 4:10 the night before. Even if they had really (I don't believe they ever had them) had sold 2 cars on the same model in just a few hours they owed me a call before I wasted my time money and gas. They forced me to make an appointment and they didn't keep it or have the cars they promised. Then after all that they wanted me to make a deal with them I would trust them ever. Deal was smooth but the finance guy was so rude and demeaning that we decided to never do business there again. Went to Michael Hohl Chevrolet and had a little better experience but still very disappointed! Also, over the last several years I have going to Michael Hohl Service dept. and had absolutely ZERO customer service!! Must run in the Hohl family!! I gave Michael Hohl Honda one more shot a few weeks ago and ONCE AGAIN, Class acts!! We tried to trade a car in and the KBB says is worth $12,912 Retail, $9,036 Trade-in and Michael Hohl said the best they can offer is $1500. That made me mad and insulted. 2nd we were trying to buy a used car at $17,990 and the sales lady (Monique) started by asking us if we wanted to pay $1200, $1000 or $700 a month!!! I have some knowledge of finances and know that there is no way these numbers make any sense!! We left and went to Carson Dodge were we got something comparable for $18,000 and they gave us $7500 for our trade in. Also, it turned out to be $320 a month. Not $1200 or even $700!! Scammers!!! Was in the market for a Honda Accord Sport and went to the Honda dealer in Reno and they didn't make a great impression. Went to Michael Hohl and we're outside looking for quite sometime. We had to go inside and hunt for a salesman. I told Ms. Peterson what car caught my eye and we went outside to look at it and take it for a test drive. She was great. We get back and I tell them I want to buy it. I paid cash and still had to fill out a credit application and go through all that even though I paid cash. The finance guy we dealt with was rude and annoyed by the questions my grandma would ask. I had wanted the rim and tires from the sport model on the ex model that I got. So we worked that out and the manager told me it could be done. Turns out it could not be done that day and I would have to come back. I live 80 miles away/ AN HOUR AND A HALF DRIVE AWAY. So the manager said he would fill my tank when I came back to get it the tires changed. On the what we Owe paper it said nothing was owed. So we pointed that out to the finance guy and his attitude got even worse and he called the manager to verify what we said was true and begrudgingly made a new what we owe paper. Will not buy a new accord from there when the time comes because of him. I go 3 days later to get the new rims and tires and the service department tells me it's going to take 2 hours to change it and I had got there at 4 and they close at 5 mind you the manger said it'd take 20 minutes tops when i did get them changed. So i drove 160 miles round trip for nothing. I went back yesterday and got them changed, adding 240 unecessary miles to my brand new car. The gas was not filled up either times I came. The saleswoman was great and personable, the other staff not so much. I will not be buying a new accord here when the times comes. EDIT*2 AND A HALF WEEKd LATER* I just received a call asking for my mailing address so they could send out the green slip for the DMV. These people are incompetent. I not only filled out a credit application despite paying cash which showed my mailing and physical and ALL the other paperwork I filled out with my mailing address! We specifically told them we do not receive mail at our physical address as mail is not delivered where I live. We only receive mail at our P.O. Boxes which we told Jamie, finance guy we dealt with. I thought paying cash we wouldn't have to ride around 3 weeks later with out license plates because normally when you pay cash all the paperwork is done in days. Not weeks! I'm still upset that they DID NOT honor their promise to fill my gas tank. Very dishonest and just as if not more sleazy than a used car dealership of lemons. Reno dealer used car department ridiculous money on trade in of my immaculate car they called fair condition. These people at Michael Hohl Carson City are really nice, not sharks feeding in Reno. My experience here began pretty good. I was a first time auto buyer, and knew ahead of time I'd probably have a rough time financing due to that. I came in tow with a trade in and $3000 cash, with my eyes on a vehicle that the trade in value and cash, paid for half of it off the top. This was over a year and a half ago, and I enjoyed dealing with the guy in the internet dept. I forget his name but he said he was there for 20 years or something close, and he was helpful assuring me I'd get a car. I didn't get the car I wanted, but rather one with much higher mileage for about $2000 less than that practical brand new one. It's my own fault for not thinking it over for a day, but I was basically sold on the fact I needed payment history on my credit report and could trade-in later yada yada...I know I'm a sucker. The vehicle I have now and bought that day is great, again not what I wanted exactly but the experience and staff at the time were so great I honestly didn't bother with any buyers remorse feelings. Nearly a year after getting it my husband returned to the dealership with a question about the warranty, and virtually the whole staff had been replaced and were a bunch of jerks! They basically hurried him out of the door and said it wasn't their problem. I get it, but still, they could've been nicer. So then I refer my brother and parents to get a vehicle there, and they both purchase one. They told the salesman I refered them and he told them theres some deal where I can get $100 from each of them if they purchased a car. They did, and I waited to hear about it. Nothing. I email Michael Hohl asking about it, and got ignored! Not even a response...It's beyond offensive all the money I sent their way including my own and I don't even deserve a response about this referal program...I would've even been content if there was no such deal, but at least confirm that. Brought wife's Honda Pilot for service at 1pm. I did not have appointment and they said it would not be ready until next day 3pm. Within an hour they called me asking to replace all fluids, car was just over 30k mileage. I checked online service recommendation and didn't see anything other than oil change recommended. I declined fluid change and asked them to do only oil change service not trans. service they recommended per dummy sensor. Car was ready at 4pm. Even though I asked them to do only oil change they went ahead and did transmission service despite me telling them on phone to do only oil change. Too many inconsistencies by service rep. so much so I cannot trust their service work because they failed to honor my phone cancellation of transmission service. read more

I took my car in to Honda to have the oil changed, and the technician in the service center called me right away to say that it was a good thing I had come in because my brakes needed replacing right away. He told me they were completely unsafe. I decided to take my car to Les Schwab for a second opinion, and discovered that I did not need new brakes at all. The front had 50% and the back had 60% of their lifespan left. I honestly think they were trying to get money out of me because I'm a young woman who looks like I don't know any better. Received a coupon for reduced cost oil change. Made an appointment for day and time. When I arrived on time the service writer told me I was 7th in line and ask that I wait an hour & half. I ask what the appointment meant and he stated it was to see a service adviser. This was my second and last visit to this business. Previous visit was to buy a new car that went the same way. "Let us look at your trade-in." I couldn't get my car back for an hour & half..... So it cost me three hours to learn a simple lesson - don't go to this business unless you intend to stay a long while. If you're in Reno or the surrounding area DON'T take your car to the local dealer. Go to Carson City and go to Michael Hohl Honda. They are the exact opposite of the Bill Pearce team. Not only did they get me in but they went way over the top to fix my car. When they didn't have the part (I drove 80 miles to get here) they ordered it for the next day and reimbursed my gas and time with free services. Hohl service understand that they are in a "Customer Service" industry and understand what that means. I am completely blown over and will bring my car here FOREVER!, and it's 80 miles from my house.... That is what true service is worth to me. read more

I am still mad at this dealership... My family and myself have bought multiple cars from here and I decided on a whim one day to just pull in and see if I got approved... Well, I was approved to finance a 2015 Chevy Malibu with no cosigner. I was very excited. I needed $500 as a down payment with no have or $1000 cash and they would take my current vehicle as a trade... Which makes no sense. The difference in the price of the monthly payments was like $3.00.. I explained to the salesman that I would need some time to come up with the money, that I would have to ask for a loan. He understood.. He sent me over to the finance office where I SIGNED THE PAPERWORK FOR THE VEHICLE and then I left.. we kept in touch, and it was about 3.5 weeks later before I found someone to loan me the $500. That day I contacted the salesman and told him I would be in at 6pm. He was thrilled and said he would get the vehicle to detailing. I was happy and stoked. Well, quarter to 6 rolled around and I got a text from the salesman saying he couldn't help me with the vehicle, that if it was a week earlier it would be a different circumstance... I felt that I was played .. there salesman told me that the reason they couldn't help me was because they were not making any money on the deal.... What the?!?! So the way I see it, the salesman want to get you into a car, they are willing to tell you anything you want to hear, then bam, nope can't help you!!! The salesman went on to tell me to contact Autumn on Monday and see if she could get me into another vehicle. I called Autumn five or six times, left very clear messages every time!! I went there to buy a car, what a mistake! The original salesman, and his manager that helped me were wonderful. The problem came, when they brought in a finance manager. He was brash, and very unwilling to help. He saw someone who's credit was bad, and did everything he could to take advantage of it. I knew my credit was bad. I knew my exact score, before I went in. I knew what interest rate a bank would give me, before I went in. He hid a extra $5,000 dollars on to the sale price of the vehicle , and a 25% rate, all without being upfront and honest about it. The he abrubtly told me I also had to come up with a $5,000 down payment. Me a full time student, come up with $5,000 dollars. When I questioned his numbers, he abruptly left, and told me to come back when I was ready. I'm struggling to make ends meet, and I get treated like a second hand citizen. I may have been born yesterday, but not last night! I knew my credit was bad. I do not need to be taken advantage off, because of it. Later the Bank crunched the numbers the finance manager gave me. They told me he added $5,000 to the sale price, along with 25% rate. And they were still demanding $5,000 down. They never showed me the actual price of vehicle, nor the actuall interest rate. All he showed me was the required $5,000 down, and the " best they could do" monthly payment. That is how the trap you! They withhold all the numbers. The last thing people need in this economy, is to be taken advantage of. I'll never go back there again. That is among the worst experiences I've ever had at a auto dealership. read more
