My husband and I went to Dr. Wei in January 2016 for cleaning and check up because our old dentist moved to another location which was not accessible to us. We both every 6 months for cleaning and check up. We went to Dr. Wei because of the good reviews. After being seen, he said we needed a lot of work and on top of the insurance we had, we had to pay about a total of 980 dollars total out of pocket because of the work he needed to do. He claimed I have 6 cavities and my husband needed bonding and crown. For some reason, we were both skeptical since our last dentist said our teeth are in good condition. Because of this, we decided not to go back and wait for our next cleaning to see another dentist. We then went to another dentist who also had a great reputation and great reviews. We forwarded our Teeth X-rays from Dr. Wei. After the cleaning from our new dentist, he said our teeth were in great condition. We then ask if we needed any work done. HE SAID NO. We then tell him what Dr. Wei have said and he we don't need work. I DO NOT have 6 cavities and my husband doesn't need to replace his crown and he Doesn't Need bonding and there was No reason to do it. This is why I took a year to write this review because I was being misled by Dr. Wei and was not aware. Updating my first review because Dr. Wei has once again exceeded my expectations! I went into his office again last month with a concern about previous bonding work that I had done by another dentist a year ago. The previous work had left a rather thick bonding on just one side of my front right tooth, which I thought made the tooth appear lopsided (a belief that was proven right in a few close-up photos I had done prior to visiting his office). Due to the fact that I would be graduating from college a week after my appointment, I was intent on getting the bonding finally corrected in time for such a monumental event in my life. Dr. Wei intently listened to all of my concerns and understood the anxiety that this flaw had been causing for close to a year. He had me point to the exact areas of the bonding that I considered to be problematic, making sure that he knew exactly what I wanted corrected before proceeding with the treatment. He worked on the tooth for a few minutes and then handed me a mirror to inspect the corrections. To say that I was blown away is an understatement! He had not only fixed all of my concerns with the bonding, but had done so in a timely and stress-free manner. While he mentioned that he didn't often correct bonding, Dr. Wei said he had made an exception for me because of the evident stress that the flawed tooth had been causing. I'm forever grateful that he took on the challenge (I can be a rather picky patient), and have been incredibly happy with my smile since his corrections. Dr. Wei is not only a very skilled cosmetic dentist, but is also a humble professional who strives to go above-and-beyond for his patients. I am a nurse and I chose this profession because of my passion to provide optimum patient care. So needless to say, when the table is turned and I became the patient, I am the worst critic because I expect nothing but excellent care from my clinician. Dr. Wei has shown me that and much more. First, I have suffered from periodontal disease for the last 15 years and have made numerous visits to the dentists for a rather uncomfortable procedure called deep scaling and root planing (also known as deep cleaning). This process takes about 45 minutes and requires getting numbed up, something I absolutely dislike. I pride myself in having a high pain threshold but the injectable anesthetic is just unbearable at times, even with the topical anesthetic. Dr. Wei is by far the only dentist who has made this process comfortable for me. I don't know how but he gives the most gentle injections. It is over before I even know it! Second, not only am I a nurse, but I am an oncology nurse who works with head and neck cancer patients so I see a lot of patients with mouth cancer. According to CDC, more than 30,000 new cases of mouth and pharynx cancer are diagnosed each year in the US. The ADA is trying to boost public awareness of oral cancer and screening is now a routine part of a dental examination. Dr. Wei is the only dentist who ever performed a comprehensive oral examination on my first visit and every visit after. Unfortunately, I can't say that about my previous dentists. And last, being in the healthcare field, I am always surrounded by healthcare professionals so I know a great provider when I see one. And Dr. Wei is indeed the best! He is passionate about dentistry and genuinely cares about his patients. Dr. Wei is an honest and true professional - at no time was I ever pushed into having any unnecessary procedures. He explains to me all my options in a clear, concise manner and then allows me to make my own decisions. I wish Yelp had more stars to give. I first discovered Dr. Wei when I was conducting a Google search on affordable cosmetic dentists. I have been to other dentists for them to tell me they only wanted to do Invisalign treatments for 3 years to close the spaces in my teeth and do extractions on perfectly good teeth to make more room where I had overcrowding. I had spaces in my upper teeth, and then overcrowding in the bottom teeth. My byte was not aligned, I had teeth that were in and out, discolored teeth and to top it off I had missing teeth. Then on Thanksgiving, somehow, I ended up cracking my canine tooth, and needing and extraction and bone graft. Dr. Wei saw me crying in his office about all the issues I had, and he calmed me and told me not to worry. He took his time during the examination to see if I could be a case or not. He said that this was a difficult case, and after a while he came back and told me that he could fix it. Again, the tears came with happiness and joy. Now due to all the complications that I have listed, I did not think that I would have this amazing smile. I am so happy, and friends and family have seen my pictures and love my smile.
