I highly recommend Michael J's for any car repairs. Lee was incredibly helpful throughout the entire experience. From the start, it was apparent that Lee was an expert at his craft. He guided us step by step through the whole procees - from working with our insurance to making sure we understood the necessary repairs for our car. Every staff member we interacted with was kind and thorough. The shop is understandably busy (especially around the holidays) but their service is superb and although it took several weeks for our repairs to be done, working with Lee and the rest of the staff made it a less stressful experience. At the end, our car was repaired to pristine condition and thoroughly cleaned internally and externally. We also can't thank Lee enough for opting to go with new parts for our car as opposed to the used parts offered by the insurance company. Overall, having to repair your car sucks but Lee and everyone at Michael J's made this an easy and straightforward process. I had a driver side fender that paint was faded and took it to Michael AJ's because I took a Subaru there years ago out of chance. It was after I got a really expensive quote from another body shop to paint the fender. Dropped in on a Monday by chance around 4:30pm and met with George the general manager for a quote. He was really nice and said he would email me a quote the next morning. I thought bs because many shops say one thing but follow through is usually terrible. He emailed me back 2 quotes by 7am the following day! I set up an appointment the following Monday and he had the vette back on the road as promised in no time! I have to ding them because the repair took longer (32 days) than my insurance covered (30 days) which left me to pay additional charges to the rental company. The passenger rear window broken out and some contents stolen - in broad daylight, right in front of where I work. The guys never missed a beat. We have had three of our vehicles worked on at Michael J's over the years. We were initially introduced to them as a State Farm recommendation. All of the work performed had not only been solid, but the work was done as promised in a timely fashion. The main reason for doing this Yelp today is to further convey the integrity of this shop. On a recent drive back from SoCal touring colleges for our 16 year old son, I noticed that the front bumper on our Yukon had come loose. The front bumper had experienced damage at Sonoma raceway and was replaced back in July 2018. I checked the warranty and as fate would have it, we were about six months past the mechanical warranty period (body and bodywork are lifetime). Nonetheless, I thought I would give it a shot. So I drove over to see Justin on West Taylor Street, the service rep who helped with the repair initially, to have him take a look. Without hesitation, "he said no problem, we'll take care of it." Upon further review however, he discovered that in fact there had been some damage and a couple of the brackets had broken. Still, Justin said, "no worries, let me have my guy Nick reset it and tighten things up." Naturally, I was now feeling awkward because I was not aware that the vehicle had experienced any damage. My wife doesn't drive the Yukon so that left my 16 year old son (who still has a driving permit). I won't get into the details but in fact, it turns out that our soon to be college student had a little incident. Finally got my truck fixed after an entire year of pulling teeth with this auto body shop. They have extremely poor communication, take much longer than originally estimated (a whole year longer), and are plain rude. I was told countless times that Sergio would call me back and NOT ONCE did he return my calls, instead I had to keep calling to get simple updates, like my parts finally arrived. On top of all the headaches this shop caused, I still didn't even get the emblems back that were supposed to be on my tailgate, which they charged me for. At this point, I want to just be done dealing with these people which is why I didn't even say anything about the emblems. This is probably the last auto body shop in San Jose, I'd take my car to, especially after this experience. read more

Ruben was welcoming and thorough in walking me through the processes. just a down to earth, friendly, genuine dude. The whole team are very tight, and on the same page about care of the customer. And with some transparency: I came in with a nice layer of dust on it, (since it's a drought and all, I hadn't wanted to wash it just yet), and too be honest, it just looked bad. I grew up around auto body repair and paint since I was a young teenager. I have a deep appreciation for outstanding body work and paint. Jeff, owner\manager of Michael J's Body Shop, has very high standards and it trickles down to all of his employees. I took my first car, 1998 Lincoln Navigator, to Jeff in 2003 and most recently took my 2014 Lincoln Navigator to Jeff in March 2023. There were a few visits in-between . Someone recently t-boned me in the rear passenger door plus a good portion of the quarter panel. When I pick up the vehicle, it's like the accident never happened. More like, it looked better than new. It's sad that with most services, you have to worry about quality, added extra charges, confusion in communication. With Michael J's, you drop off your car and don't worry about anything. You know that when you pick up your car you will be amazed. It is rare to see that the quality of work of a business over the years have not just held to the same high standards, but has even taken it up a few notches. I had my car towed to this shop . Was quoted a repair price for the damages caused to my car over 6k in which the ins company I was dealing with wanted to total out my car since damages exceeded the amount . After having my car towed over to another shop with honest service I was quoted $3k and after reviewing my quoted amount Michael j's was trying to charge me for Unnecessary things that I didn't need especially since the impact was only to the bumper and a lil on driver side. after finding out that said appraiser never actually physically looked at my car only went over the estimate at Michael j's he would have noticed that theses items weren't necessary. This shop does good work but over whelmed with it. I will never again go to this shop or refer anybody to this rip off of a place who seemingly takes advantage . International body shop that completed my work I'm totally satisfied with work done by honest people not out to rip off customers .
