Stopping by the Carlsbad Premium Outlets is a fun outing for anyone looking to shop a nice set of outlet stores in Carlsbad where the weather is typically lovely outside. There are plenty of stores along with some food options. There are some name brand stores and some stores not tied to name brands. There are deals regularly, especially around times like Black Friday and before and after any holiday. I often take a book and read it outside in a comfortable chair (hopefully out of the sun) while waiting for her to shop. When we went with her parents once, I sat with my father-in-law outside and we eventually stopped by Starbucks for a beverage. There are more than 85 stores and restaurants at the Carlsbad Premium Outlets. My wife's favorite is the Ann Taylor Factory Store. There is also a Coach Outlet, Gap Factory, Michael Kors Outlet, and so much more. Some of the restaurant options include a Blaze Pizza, Starbucks (of course!), Jersey Mike's, Ruby's Diner, Rubio's Coastal Grill, Wetzel's Pretzels, Tea Monks, Panda Express, Oasis Tacos, Mot'to Japanese Grill, and Haagen Dazs. There are other restaurants a short drive from the Outlets if more sit-down restaurants are desired. There are plenty of sales, discounts, and deals. Each day, different sales are listed on their website at https://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlet/carlsbad/deals. There are also military, teacher, and student discounts (all published on their website). Be prepared to share IDs accordingly when taking advantage of the discounts. There is also a free Elite Rewards membership, which you can find out more about at https://plus.simon.com. Each store has its own hours though the general hours at 10 AM to 7 PM from Monday through Thursday, 10 AM to 8 PM on Friday and Saturday, and 11 AM to 7 PM on Sunday. Big bold signs screaming "30% OFF," racks full of mixed items, and then you find out the discount only applies to a small print "fleece only". Meanwhile, similar-looking activewear is sitting right there in the same rack like it belongs. I'll own my part, I didn't see the "fleece only" note. That's on me. But when you've got 20+ pieces of non-sale items sitting in the middle of a rack clearly marked for a discount, that's just bad practice. Feels less like shopping and more like a setup. First asked for clarification about how discounts work. Then a price check. After the sale I walked over to confirm sign. Someone asked me "can J help you", I Asked if this is how they normally do things? And got a casual "yeah" and a shrug. No effort to make it right, no attempt to meet halfway. Just a quick apology and move on. I've worked customer service. If something ends up on a sale rack, you own it. You fix it. Or at least try. This just felt like bait and switch with zero accountability.

We couldn't find the entrance to the restaurant, but the directions kept providing the location at The Shoppes at Carlsbad. We ended up parking, and exploring some of the stores inside, until we found out the restaurant was located on the opposite side of the main entrance and you go inside the restaurant outside of the mall. While exploring inside the mall though, it did have a lot of stores and entertainment available. It was nice that it was indoors and there looked to be a lot of other dining options available! There was plenty of parking spots too! If you're visiting Legoland theme park, and staying a few days, I'd recommend stopping by this mall. It was nice to take a break from the theme park and you can get a chance to go shopping!

I am not sure how things are discounted but of course the one item I wanted for myself was not an additional discount and since I was looking for gifts I passed it by. The store is nice, bright and open and everything is very organized. The staff was ok. I did notice them greeting people as they came in but for some reason were not when we walked in. Sometimes even just a smile as you walk in is enough for me but nothing this time. We were also asked who was helping us when we made our purchases and I had said no one. I knew what I was looking for so it was ok but it seemed like the sales team was hyper focused on certain people in the store (which I did not see what they were purchasing). Overall we got what we walked in for and that was what matter.

I was eyeing a Tumi backpack off their website - but the fact that it wasn't available at the Tumi nearby me (at South Coast Plaza) made me a bit iffy. When buying backpacks/luggage, I like to be able to see and feel the quality, size it up, look at all the different compartments, etc. Since Orange County didn't have a Tumi outlet store - I remembered this one in Carlsbad where I had bought my wallet a few years ago. While they didn't have the exact model I wanted off their website (Alpha Bravo Davis) - I settled on the Parrish 16" backpack after browsing their vast selection here. Dassa (sp?) was totally awesome and provided attentive, personalized service. When I had zeroed in on the Parrish and was looking it over - she suggested removing the interior "paper puffs" that came with the backpack to help it stand up. She explained that this would allow me to really see the true dimensions of the pack, and explore all the different compartments - very thoughtful suggestion! When I decided to get the pack, I asked for a non-display model, and Dassa happily obliged. Dassa was also able to get my pack monogrammed - and while there was a palette of different colors to choose from - she helped narrow it down to two colors that she felt would look best, considering my pack's black/gray/blue blend of colors. Totally appreciative of that - since I would've otherwise spent much more time making that decision. Finally, I'm happy that I landed an amazing deal on this backpack - it was half off its full retail price. It ended up costing less than the model that I had originally wanted off the Tumi website. Monogramming the nameplate was complimentary. Great price for a brand known worldwide for its quality, style, function. Thanks, Dassa for taking such great care of me!

The products are nice and a better price than most Michael Kors in department stores, but the service needs to change. The people working there are very stuck up and are very pushy. As soon as you walk in they start asking you what you need or what you are looking for, then if you say I'm not sure yet, they give you a dirty look and walk away, they dont realise that acting like a stuck up person turns people off, thats why I don't go there anymore. read more

She said that they could order it but there was a chance they would not get it due to the fact that the online quantity was so limited. I appreciated her candor and did not order the item. I tried on a few items and decided on my purchase. I had heard the previous cashier tell someone that they did not have much change in the register so if the person was paying cash they couldn't take any large bills. When it came time to pay I decided to pay cash, but apparently they had to use a different register for that. I had exact change, so she moved over to the next register. It took her awhile to figure it out and she had to call for help. Eventually, she figured it out but I felt bad for the person waiting behind me. I will definitely be back.
