Ambiance: Large Bavarian style brewery in Fredericksburg with a large dining area and outdoor patio area. Dog and child friendly! We love their beer and their sausage. Fun vibes outside with our dogs and always great music. We liked being about to scan the QR code outside to quickly order and maintain our tab without having to go inside. Ample parking onsite. Great decor and ambiance!

This was our first time dining in the restaurant and it did not disappoint. There was a line outside waiting to enter for Sunday brunch and I can see why. Loved the eggs Benedict and corned beef hash. Everything was expertly prepared and so delicious. Love the atmosphere and friendly service. This is a must-do place for us to stop each time we're in the area.

The racist lady with 2 color hair

It ain't bad, just be aware of the racism at the restaurant, the lady who seat us complained about us being hispanic. We don't really care, just be aware that they don't want us here, as she said " These F*** Mexicans"

Sat outside and ordered via qr code, it took 15min to get my drinks, not bad given they were packed. The ambiance outside was nice with shaded tables. However the women's bathroom was scary. There was a water leak that had clearly been there for a while as mold had started to form. No way could this have been overlooked or unknown to management as it was very visible

I've been a fan of Altstadt for years, but on our most recent visit I was disappointed in the food. Food: Ordered the Ruben and beer onion soup combo. The soup temperature was a little too low, and the cheese was not very good. The Rueben sandwich was totally disappointing- greasy and bathed in either oil or butter which ruined a potentially great sandwich. Service: Excellent service Ambiance: Germanic cabin theme Beer: Excellent beer Overall cleanliness: excellent

This was a pit-stop on our way to our cabin destination. So we stopped and had a drink and appetizer for the taste-testing of it all. I had the flight because I'm always indecisive on beers or ciders to try, but found that they were all pretty good (even for someone that doesn't like beers THAT much). I am a stout fan and really liked the "Boch." It was really busy, as it usually is as a "tourist spot" yet we got a seat at the bar to fasten the wait. The pretzel was yum 6/10-would have loved another sauce to try.

Known as the "Castle" Altstadt Brewery was a very cool place to visit. We got there right when the opened to enjoy another German lunch at the Restaurant at the Brewery. The restaurant had the old luxurious look with lots of wood. I ordered the Jägerschnitzel and Altstadt beer from the tap. The service was great and no problem parking outside. The Jägerschnitzel was prepared different from what I had on Main Street in Fredericksburg, but still had great flavor and prepared very well. After eating we explored the rest of the brewery and found a large tap room with big windows to see the formation tanks. There was both indoor seating and outdoor. Souvenirs can be purchased here and took home a six pack and beer glass. Its was definitely a place to stop on our way home.

Beautiful place. Hard to call it just a "brewery"

Brewery #373 This place is like the Biltmore House of breweries. It's beautiful and huge! If they didn't have a big sign out front, you definitely would think you are in the wrong place. We came in just to get some beer, but it had more of a restaurant feel than traditional brewery. We sat in the bar area, and whenever I go to a new brewery, I always get a flight to try multiple beers. Altstadt has flights but they are prefixed, you can't make your own. Slight irritation but nothing major. I ended up getting a more German style flight with a Kolsch, Hefe, Lager, and Amber. They were all good with the Hefe being my favorite. I am usually an IPA fan, and they had one, but I was not able to try it. We weren't that hungry, so we just ordered some fries with beer cheese. These were crisp little pillows of heaven, and the cheese was a perfect dip. The menu was heaven on German food, but there's a wide range with some upscale items as well. The place was probably too fancy for me and my Homer Simpson hoodie, but they were still accommodating. Next time I will wear better clothes and have dinner but let me pick my own flight please.

We came to Fredericksburg for the weekend and ended up stopping at Alstadt a couple of times. They have lots of indoor and outdoor seating spaces great for large groups or couples. The staff is some of the friendliest that I have ever met and the overall hospitality is fantastic. The only thing holding me back from 5 stars is that the menu items are hit or miss when it comes to an enjoyable meal or man I wished I would have ordered something else. Dishes I would highly recommend, their chili, the peach bruschetta, the mashed potatoes are some of the best I have ever had and the chicken and waffles!

Service was great from the greeter to the rest of the team. Food was fresh and well made. No music outside what really helped to keep a conversation going. Busy but was Sunday lunch hour so was expected. Plenty parking space! Big rooms and knowledgeable people to help you with your choices. Woman's restroom can use a detail cleaning and floors needed to be mop. That is why I give a 4 star review.

Altstadt Brewery never disappoints no matter how many times I visit or what the purpose is. I've gone for bar food and drinks and full sit down meals and it has all exceeded my expectations. For this visit we ate in the restaurant area for a full meal. The sandwiches we had were as delicious as they look in the photos. We definitely got our moneys worth and our bellies filled! The service is always great no matter where you are from the bar to the outdoor area or the restaurant, and this visit to the restaurant area was no different. Our food came out quickly, perfectly cooked and delicious. The decor in the restaurant conveys with the rest of the old German style building with a cozy feel. This is a great place to stop for a meal or a snack and some great beer when visiting Fredericksburg.

We came here on a whim. First time and it went really well. We sampled several items. We had the pretzel, Bavarian sausage plate, kids cheese burger, house chips and something else with meat and cheese. Beware of the mustard. A dab goes a long way. The server was polite and attentive even though he was very busy and even making drinks. The ambiance was kind of like an upscale lodge. They do brewery tours which we may book next time.

    Are reservations accepted?

    Yes and sometimes preferred.

What beverages are offered for the under 21 or non-drinkers that just want to eat?

Hi Sara! We have a full line up of non-alcohol beverages available to guests of all ages! We hope…

Are we still able to come in for drinks or is it only curb side?

They were seating people for drinks and food both inside and on the patio when we were there in September 2020. I'd call them now for current availability.

This venture has been a dream for owners Mike & Rosann Mitrione. Their first vineyard was established in the Texas High Plains in 2018, where they planted around 15 varietals across 27 acres. In 2021, they began designing and planning their new 38-acre Texas Hill Country vineyard. They started planting their estate vineyard in 2022 and have now expanded to 9 acres of vines including Albariño, Petite Sirah, Montepulciano, Syrah, and Aglianico. Since opening to the public in summer of 2023, they've maintained a steadfast commitment to producing 100% Texas wines. When you enter the tasting room, you will immediately notice the impressive Texas granite structure adorned with a symbol that reflects the Ross family's core values: Faith, Family, Friends, and Fellowship. The two-story, eco-friendly tasting facility is semi-circular and built into the hillside - reminiscent of a piazza in Italy. It has an upscale vibe, high-end design, and comfort in mind lending to its artistic flair. Facing east, the tasting room stays cooler both inside and out, enhancing the experience. Another notable feature are the large tables made from repurposed old pecan trees found on the property. Well known Texas winemaker Tim Drake has been helping in the crafting of some very fine wine here. Most focus has been primarily on Italian style wines which reflects the owner's wine travels. Most grapes are sourced from the High Plains vineyard estate with some future Hill Country estate wines to come. First to sample was the '23 Sauvignon Blanc which is sourced from the High Plains estate vineyard. Citrus & melons will be the first notes to light up your wine palate followed by zesty acidity. The second white wine sampled was the '23 Bisaccia. This Italian style blend, named after Michael's grandfather's Italian town, was crafted with 57% Trebbiano, 39% Albariño, and 4% Pinot Grigio. It is dry with dried apricot notes and minerality. An extra white wine treat was the Windswept. This Rhone style blend (yes, departure from the Italian theme, but that's ok) is a blend of 52% Viognier and 48% Roussanne. It is a lovely lighter Rhone style wine with buttery notes, a tango between apricot and pear, and a hint of minerality. Moving to the Rosé wines, the first to sample was the '24 Sangiovese Rosé. It had a pink colored hue with notes of watermelon and strawberry coupled with good acids. It also had more of a Provence style feel to it for an added pleasant. The next Rosé wine sipped was the '24 Vega. It is Malbec based with some raspberry notes and a nice soft and refreshing feel. Moving into the reds, the first to sample was the '23 Grenache. It was aged in Russian oak (yes, for real), exhibited a deep brick rusty color, lots of good fruit forwardness and a touch of smoke. Next, was the '22 Piazza Rossa. This super Tuscan style wine has 67% Sangiovese, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 11% Merlot. To say it has a big nose is an understatement, but you will also be impressed by its deep dark color, and notes of fig. Plus, the finish is to die for! Saving the best for last red to sip, was the '22 Envisage. This right bank Bordeaux style wine (yes, not exactly Italian, but still great) was carefully crafted with 46% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 16% Malbec. It has nice rich dark fruit, some baking spices, good tannins and acidity, and a smooth finish. Overall, it was a very fine and enjoyable tasting session with everything being spot on. When dreams are realized, magic happens. You can see this not only in the quality wines produced, but the tasting room design, décor, and cool vibes. There is a food truck on site that will whip up some good eats to pair with your wine. You will experience great hospitality here as well. The team is very professional, knowledgeable, and attentive to help ensure you have the tasting experience you desire. You will feel well cared for and comfortable here and will want to return. Cheers!

We were kind of concerned as it is in the opposite direction of all the other places. Upon arrival we were greeted by the host in the outside foyer and taken to our table ( they take reservations but we did not have one). We were sat and promptly greeted by our server. She explained the options for tasting to us and informed us that there was a food truck onsite as well. We opted to do the red wine tasting . The tasting started with a Grenache ( full bodied, very fruity but not sweet) the grapes really shine, next was the Sangiovese which was even better. We went through a series of 5 wines that all were made with exceptional care as none were left to waste. My favorite was the 1 Sangiovese, 2 Grenache, 3 Tempranillo. We also purchased a pizza from the food truck onsite. It was a margarita pizza ( large enough for two to share as a medium snack). If your hungry you made need more. They have more than pizza as well. We bought a bottle of Sangiovese and will definitely return. Excellent live performer and extraordinary service !!

Now that we've got that straight, let's dive in. The Edge is the chameleon of Fredericksburg and adapts to what guests need. It sits on a beautiful property with stunning views, it offers ample space for large parties and plenty of TVs--perfect for catching football games during the season. The food? Definitely worth mentioning. The food options are predominantly American. I ordered a burger and a Pizza Roll and I couldn't stop raving about that damn roll (FYI, it's not a Totino's sized pizza roll). Despite the initial confusion, The Edge turned out to be a great find along the 290 Wine Shuttle route. Service: not the greatest, lots of lax young employees. Vibe is euro-bistro and the staff is perfectly attentive. Prices are high, but honestly aligned to the quality of the food, at least the dishes we had were worth the prices. Food: Buttermilk Fried Chicken, with Onion/Bacon flash fried collard greens, whipped potatoes and house gravy and Jalapeno Cornbread for $32 Reuben on Marble Rye for $24 16oz Stella Artois for $10 We agreed that the fried chicken (5/5) was the best we could remember having. Whipped potatoes (5/5) were light, fluffy and perfect taste/texture. The gravy was like brown butter (5/5). The collard greens (5/5) were flash fried and if you've never had them like this, it's like eating collard green potato chips. Cornbread (3/4) was a bit too delicate and sweet for our taste. You couldn't pick it up without it falling apart. The Ruben (3/5). My wife loves a good Ruben sandwich. This one had the makings of a good one, but they use a Thousand Island sauce (too much of it) on the sandwich, and it hides the flavor of the meat. Next time we would ask for the sandwich without the TI sauce, see if that improves the rating. The sandwich came with house made potato chips (5/5), a small house salad with vinaigrette (5/5) and a large, pickled cucumber. I know, that's a pickle, but these are cucumbers that have gone maybe a third of the way through the process, so the cucumber taste is really prevalent. Lastly, we had the Creme Brulé (3/5) for dessert. It was nice, but the custard was coffee and caramel flavored, and we prefer the standard custard look and flavor. The caramel should come from the top layer, not the custard. The top layer was a bit too thick as well. We liked it, just didn't love it. Overall, quality food, service and vibe with prices that are aligned to more special occasions than everyday eating out. We'll be back to try the Monday Crawfish Etoufee and the Tuesday Duck Confit daily specials...look too good to pass up.
